I'm so bummed that this place didn't live up the yelp reviews! Got my nails done on super bowl Sunday and that day the gel polish got ruined and one nail cracked in half! So I had to come back the next day to get them fixed. it's been 2 weeks and I have already had to paint them because the bottom of the nails have chipped. The tops have also got cracks and broke. I really don't understand how they are so bad. I'm giving 2 stars because the ladies who work there are extremely kind and the place is very pretty inside. I've been looking for a new nail salon since I moved on this side of town & I'm happy to say I think I found the right one! This place is only a good 10 minutes away. I found this place on yelp & saw all the great reviews & decided to give this place a try. Kim did my nails & she made me feel comfortable being there as soon as I came in. It wasn't awkward like some other places. It does take a little longer than normal but I'd rather her take her time & make them look great. UPDATE: In reply to the message by Kim First of all, your tech DID NOT ask if it was hard gel. True, I did not know either way at the time, or that there was a difference, but she absolutely did not ask me. Second, after an hour passed and you came over, YOU ASKED HER, if it was hard gel and she said no, TWICE. You had to ask her if she was sure and then YOU took a look. Your tech clearly had no clue until you came over. Take a look at the pictures, they show how awful of a job was done. Its not hard to see that she was not knowledgeable on this type of manicure or how to remove it. I went in for the first time to get my gel nail polish removed. They did the whole foil and cotton balls in acetone thing and my polish would not budge. 1 hour later, someone else comes over, I am guessing the owner or manager, and realizes its a hard gel polish. She explains to me that its tough to come off and it can only come off by drilling, which is fine, that is how my usual lady does it. I get home and start folding laundry. My nails feel very uncomfortable and thin. They are physically bending. Clearly a few of them were drilled too long because my whole right hand is fine. I call to ask for a refund, I am told they don't do refunds. I explain I don't want a store credit because I simply wouldn't go back to get services because of the bad experience. Alright, now she can do a refund.There is construction being done on my street so I don't want to leave and go all the way over so I ask if there's another way to do it, without me having to show up, she rudely asks me "well how else would I do it?" Look, I don't know it was a simple question. Bottom line, it was disturbing how long it took a nail technician to figure out it was a hard gel polish, and I was surprised in the managers sarcasm and rudeness over the phone. The B E S T nail experience. I arrived shortly after they opened (10am; still scheduled an appointment the night before). I got a gel manicure ($27) by Kim. The time rolled by so quickly as we shared stories and ideas ("engage yourself in order to maximize your experiences"). Finally, Kim recommended that I go to Bachi HLK (literally 1 min away on Russell and Rainbow) and I did after! It was AMAZING and a perfect way to enter into the afternoon! I've been coming here since before the new management and I can say that I miss them! Now this place seems like every average nail place. Last time I came, I was sweating from head to toe from the lack of air conditioning. I don't know about anybody else but I want to be comfortable and relaxed when I go get my nails done especially if I'm paying for it. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and tried it one more time and my experience was even worse. They sat me in a massage chair that was broken and wouldn't move me. My water was way too cold for my pedicure and it lacked the whole relaxing experience. To top it off, it felt like there was no air conditioning in there!!!! I will never come here again! So disappointed that the new management didn't maintain the great customer service that the previous management had. Time to find a new shop. read more

I came in for a gel manicure but after about a week, it started chipping and cracking. I've gotten numerous gel manicures and I've never noticed chipping this early. For a set that cost $40, I'm heavily disappointed that it did not even last a solid week. The quality of the service was subpar and I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Love this place! Was introduced to this place by a friend few months ago and now I refuse to go anywhere else! Everyone here is so nice and welcoming! My pedicures MUST be done by Jenny. I will die if she ever leaves. I'll admit I have the WORST heels. But after leaving mod, my feet are soft like a baby's butt. If you are looking for a quick pedi I wouldn't recommend her but if you're looking for good work done to your heels and nails... Jenny is the person to request!! I came in specifically for a gel French manicure because the sign offered a $25 special, and was seen by nail tech Sam. Immediately, he tells me there's an extra $5 for a French manicure. Ok, false advertising. Sign said nothing about that. He tried to up-sell me on a pedicure too, which I told him I didn't have time for but would be back at the end of the week for. My toes had a fresh pedi just 2 days old. He kept bringing it up, and I had to keep telling him no. So I got my manicure but noticed a couple odd things about it: First, Sam didn't want to file or cut my nails, I wanted them cut and filed. He said that French looked best on longer nails (which I have) and reluctantly agreed to file my nails, which was a very light and half-assed job at best. My nails were not rounded. Then he proceeds to paint the tips white but doesn't clean up his work very well. Even though my nails weren't rounded/filed nicely, he paints the white half moons ok, but a closer look and you can see how unevenly they're done. The UV dryer was not the normal warm light, but a very dim and not warm light that he keeps having to reset every 60 seconds. Didn't feel like my gel polish was setting. Anyway, the whole point of getting a gel manicure is because it lasts for two weeks and looks amazing for a longtime. So after only 3 days my manicure from Mod nails looks like chippy crap. I'm sure it's because my gel polish didn't cute properly in the dryer. I won't be back for anymore services here. I didn't like the entire experience, and I don't like it when salons try and up-sell me on a million other services either. I paid $35 including tip and to have my nails look like garbage after only 3 days isn't worth a return. No gel polish should chip after just 3 days on multiple nails. Unacceptable. read more

I couldn't think of any other nail salon that tops Mod. My nails are superb every...single...time. Plus they last weeks! At least 3 weeks. AT LEAST. When I get my nails done elsewhere, 6 days later they're chipping. Not at Mod. My nails holds their integrity and there is no fading, peeling, or regrets. The decor is, of course, modern! Cute, yellow retro chairs in the foyer. Chandeliers. Thee best OPI hand lotion sitting on top of the register counter. Kim's station is adorbs! A two mile jaunt southwest down Tropicana Ave from the main MGM Resort Complex (Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and Luxor), Mod Nails is totally worth the trip off the strip! Regular Pedi is $25... "The Mod" is $35 (my hotel on the strip charges $65). The Mod + gel pedi will set you back $50. Mani with gel was $27. Message to owner: keep the current price point! Each and everyone of my group of four is happy with their nails and the quality and service are excellent. Only downside is the massage chair didn't work. Walk-ins are accepted, but call first to make an appointment because they book up quick. Three of five technicians were working on a Monday. Lucy and sister (can't remember her name) we're great. Bertha is new, but she's the bomb! Such a laid back atmosphere - I never feel rushed. I've been to many Vegas nail salons over the years, and while the ultra lounge look is popping up everywhere, it seems the same nail drones are still working there. The staff here is friendly and caring. No orders barked at you to 'pick color!' or scrubbing your foot like it belonged to a cadaver.
