I finally tried this place, not once but twice within 2 days!! I went to lunch the first day and enjoyed the MC Steak Sandwich with homemade chips. Both were fabulous. I forgot to take pics, sorry! I went again the following day, but went for dinner. We split the steak martini, which was a skewer of steak (3 pieces) on top of a bed of mashed potatoes and Gorgonzola crumbles! Scrumptious!!! My husband had the Steak House Burger, which was good. I had Shrimp Skewers with baked potato. It was a bit plain, just served as stated. I asked for some melted butter which made it better, but I still think it's a bit plain and could have been grilled longer. Service was great both times. Last chance. I've been here several times, each time getting worse. Went last evening, Stephanie was the bartender. We sat, she asked if we wanted menus which we replied YES and she took our drink orders. She's running around squirrely and eventually brings our drinks, (there were only 3 couples at her bar and a separate bartender for the dining room) still no menus... my husband asked for dinner menus when the drinks arrived and she looked up and said "oh, I heard you. I was just too busy" and went to get them. You heard me?! This is supposed to be a somewhat classy restaurant, or so the prices and decor might suggest. We should have apologized for bothering her and left. We finished our drink, tipped and left. Went to Lazy Ballerina and had a wonderful first experience- highly recommend Lazy Ballerina. Will NOT go back to Modern Chop- hard pass. Do better. read more

Third time dining here this time was not as good as the other two. Wagu sirloin was under cooked. I did not send it back; I just took it home and reheated it. Not a fine dining spot but it's nice to have a place that you can go to in a pinch that is nearby . Servers have always been great. read more

We had a bad experience tonight at your restaurant. It started right at your front door. We were greeted by a gentleman who was irritated that he had to clean a table for us to sit at. The server was irritated at us because we asked for the steak from for the taco to be cooked longer. They changed us for the tacos we sent back and was told they could not cook them longer. The server tossed the menu on the host desk after talking to us. The only good thing was she smiled and told us to have a nice day after adjusting the bill. We won't be back. Food is great!! We have been going there for a few months. Has become our favorite Saturday spot!! But if tonight's service is repeated will look for a new place. Bartenders seemed to only want to take care of service. One regular guest spent over 15 minutes trying to get a drink. He was ignored. Finally bartender took his order, then charged him for after HH price. I told her this is wrong, they did not pay any attention to any of us at that end of bar. She did get management to correct, but implied it was his fault. We sat with empty drink glasses for longer than 10 minutes. I was extremely disappointed in our service! Absolutely amazing! The salmon was lite and flakey, the steak was seasoned and cooked well, and the in house made pasta was to die for. The waitstaff was great our waiter, Alex, recommended the cranberry goat cheese cheesecake and it may have been the best cheesecake my wife and I have ever had. We went here for New Years Eve dinner. Upon our arrival we were greeted by friendly staff. We had couple of cocktails at the bar to start. Drinks were great and reasonable. We then were seated in a high top. Wobbly table needed the old coaster trick. The waitress was nice and friendly. We ordered the Tomahawk Steak for 2. I was excited to try it as I had never had one before so my expectations were high. While we waited we ordered the shrimp cocktail which was great and the cocktail sauce had a nice kick. The tomahawk steak arrived in a timely fashion, along with our sides of asparagus, broccoli loaded baked potato. The steak looked great however, it was pretty tough. I ordered it medium rare, so it wasn't overcooked. The sides were bland, and the steak was bland. Also not much flavor in there. The waitress asked how my steak was and I told her to be honest, the steak was very tough and she didn't do a thing about it or offer an accommodation except an "I'm sorry" from the waitress. I think a steak should be pretty damn good for $98 is all I'm saying! read more

I used to be a big fan of Modern Chop. After tonight, will not return. Food was mediocre; steak ordered medium, served well done. "Glazed" carrots very hard and no glaze/seasoning. However, the reason for me not returning was the manager's attitude. Our duo was at a high top in the bar. Bar crowded. A woman at the bar was on her phone and speaking VERY loudly. All the patrons in the immediate area were trying to get her attention to ask her to quiet down. Manager said he heard her from the hostess stand, yet he did nothing to ask her to quiet her conversation and allow other diners to enjoy their meals. Finally, my dinner companion asked her to please quiet her conversation. When the woman left, she stopped at our table and verbally lashed out. Her male companion then said "Bite me you fucking bitch." When I relayed being verbally accosted by another patron, the manager said "we love having them here; this has no reflection on the Modern Chop." Go to Prime Steak in Venice instead. read more

Went there for the first time yesterday. The seats are too low for the tables-the table was shoulder height. Very happy with the wine list. The steak and chicken had too much pepper on them. The grouper bites were too hot-spicey. The Caesar salad came with this huge 12 inches twisted piece of puff pastry. It looked like a large dog bone. The beet salad needed to be cut up some The atmosphere was much more causal than I expected. Although I believed it was a fine dining restaurant, it doesn't really hit the mark. read more
