Unprofessional poor service. When asking about the Oysters, Waiter answered, "My Oysters," and described where they came from. Did he go fishing for them? Appetizers arrived: Mussels and Oysters. I had not been done with my mussels yet and salads arrived. I felt rushed. Salad was supposed to be split into three, it was only split into two. Our friend ordered French onion soup and Steak Tartar. He had not received any food yet, but we had already received our salads and appetizers. We addressed the waiter that our friend had not received anything he had ordered. Waiter stated he ordered the French Onion Soup and the Steak Tartar at the same time and they would be brought out together with the meals. Waiter did not offer to fix the situation. Steven the waiter was exceptional! We went for the first time and he was so attentive! Our daughter has a food allergy and dining out is usually stressful asking about every item. Our new favorite place!! We made reservations via Opentable for happy hour (any bar stool). HH is from 4-6. We sat at the bar (they have high tops that you can sit out for happy hour, as well). I'm glad we did. Oscar, the bartender, was super nice. It was impressive to see repeats customers coming in. He knew their names and things going on in their lives. Besides that- food and drinks were awesome. We tried the crab cake, mussels, crab and shrimp cocktail (a little sweet), oysters, shrimp and calamari. Loved it. We will be back for a full dinner soon. DON'T BOTHER GETTING THE LAMB CHOPS. Customer service and ambience was great over all, no real complaints there. But as a foodie (and someone who loves lamb chops), I was very disappointed... this place did not deliver. I ALWAYS do a fair amount of research before choosing my fine dining experience, after all, it's not an every day meal. This time, I was also with a bachelorette party and wanted a restaurant that would impress the bride. The dishes that the rest of the group got were all great, oysters were amazing. But.... Old fashions were too sweet, I really like my whiskey to come through, struggled to finish. $65 for TWO small lamb chops according to their menu, NO SIDES. They actually brought out 3 lamb chops, which made me very excited... but to my disappointment, the chops smelled and tasted very gamey. Seasoning was plain and presentation was disappointing - no housemade sauce to garnish or complement them. Their side dishes were delicious, but "wild mushroom" dish actually consisted of regular petite mushrooms more than the wild mushrooms itself, so some disappointment there too. While working through my first lamb chop (plainly), waitress mentioned that they had housemade steak sauce, I jumped on it. Found myself having to dunk each bite of lamb chop into the sauce to disguise the gamey smell and taste. By that time, I shared a few bites with the others and they agreed it was too gamey, they weren't interested in helping me finish the third chop. I gave in at this point, told my waitress to give my feedback to the chef. The hostess stopped by to check on me and shared that the chops were from Colorado and weren't supposed to be gamey. She offered to take the chops off my tab. I was grateful, but still hungry. Waitress was very nice and offered our bride a flourless chocolate cake to congratulate her, we shared it among the group and it was delicious. Checks came and I still got charged for the chops, spoke with my waitress and had it removed. Over all, I think the place is okay. Again, no real complaints about service, but if you are a foodie, you might want to consider another dish or another place altogether. I don't think my expectations were high... but after being bummed out, I guess my last lamb chop experience was on point and set me up for a food-gasm expectation that I just didnt get. read more

I am so disappointed of this place. My partner and I had a reservation for last weekend to celebrate his birthday, we arrived at 6:00 pm even if our reservation was for 6:30 pm but we figured we would sit at the bar and get a drink. as soon as we arrive the 2 hosts don't greet us, I mention our last name and the time of reservation, letting her know we are early and I literally see her " faking scrolling " her finger on her ipad " looking" for our last name, and it was the third name down the list ( I could see it from my view) and she says : " I don't have anything with your last name" and I looked at her and pointed our last name on the screen. she said that the table wasn't ready and that we can wait at the bar and we'll be seated before 6:30 anyway. we order 4 drinks and 2 appetizers at the bar and we were still waiting for our table. We saw AT LEAST 20 PEOPLE walk in the restaurant being greeted and being seated INSTANTLY!!!! not one person had to wait for any table, and then after walking up to her twice and asking about our table, finally at 6:50 " she had to go check" we were seated. awful awful treatment, not sure if she didn't like us, we are an interracial couple and maybe not welcome but definitely not going back! maybe instead of always trying to get young girls as hosts get someone that would treat people with respect and EQUALITY. read more

This place has the best service of any restaurant I've been to in a long time. And, accompanying the great service, is a great selection of steaks and seafood. I had the crab cakes which were absolutely delicious. For a main course I had a 6oz filet and grilled asparagus. The steak here is unique in that it's only salted, peppered, then cooked to perfection. The chefs allow the meat to speak for itself without smothering it in butter and other useless flavorings. I have to mention the service again. The place wasn't busy, there were also very few people at the bar, but the staff made sure that every person got personalized attention. I will definitely return the next time I'm in town and I'd say that THIS PLACE IS A MUST if you're just in town for the night or if you live in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area. Such an excellent and much needed addition to this part of town! The decor is beautiful and modern, the food is fantastic, and the service is top notch. We sat at the oyster bar which is an unexpected but very welcome surprise bringing a bit of the Bay Area vibe to Arizona. It's dinner and a show as you watch the guys shuck oysters and build towers with a really nice selection of seafood. They have the popular oysters like Kumamoto's and Blue points and then some lesser known ones which were fun to try and all super tasty. The mussels, shrimp cocktail, cream corn, and foie gras are other not to be missed items, while the bone in filet was cooked perfectly and so tender you could literally cut it with a fork. For dessert we had the bacon french toast bread pudding and the dulce de leche cheesecake. First off, yes you read that correctly, bacon for dessert. Need I say more?! Secondly, if you're looking for a "classic" NY cheesecake, this isn't it, BUT if you're looking to only have one bite of something and then strong-arm your husband out of the way to devour the rest of it because it's THAT good, then yeah, this is the one for you! Great wine list that is diverse yet approachable with solid pricing, and I love the Reidel 001 standard stemware! This place was AMAZING!!! We visited this restaurant in January (late review). We didn't have a reservation and took a chance at stopping in. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated in the outdoor bar area within minutes. It's a nicely decorated restaurant that doesn't feel as if it's in a strip mall or shopping plaza (it is). Upon being seated, staff noticed that I looked as if I was cold despite a heater being mounted above the table. They immediately turned on another patio heater and ensured I was comfortable. We were having a great experience and we had yet to eat or drink anything. I cannot give our waitress enough praise!!! She was wonderful!! Very friendly and personable. We ordered drinks, the pork chop, pasta with shrimp, and asparagus. The food was really good and done right! I loved the lemon zest in the asparagus. During a conversation with the waitress, she learned i was in town celebrating my birthday. She was so kind and brought back a piece of key lime pie with a candle. I was so full but she said I had to eat it because it was birthday and the pie was delicious. She was right!! I don't usually like key lime pie but it was delicious. It is time to Modernize! Modern Happy Hour! Happy HourZ a-z Modern Oysterbar and Chophouse is the newest upscale (yet casual) happy hour location in Scottsdale-Central South. The restaurant opened in January 2019 and started their Happy Hour on Tuesday February 13. This happy hour is a bit pricier than others. Six happy hour food items range from $10 to $24. We tried the French Onion soup, the Calamari and Rock Shrimp, and the Cheese Board. All were very tasty. The sweet chili sauce on the calamari was particularly awesome! The $8.00 Happy Hour draft wines by the glass are good. We tried the Pinot Noir (Hahn) and the Cabernet (Broadside). The wine pours are 8 ounce. The environment is very nice. Service is attentive. Right now, Happy Hour is only served at the bar (limited bar seats). 4 pm to 6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. The bar stool seating is very comfortable, as you would expect from a new, upscale venue. We came across this restaurant because my husband wanted oysters. Boy, this restaurant was a great find! The restaurant is beautifully designed. Very elegant. The service was outstanding. On this night, a Thursday, they had a $2.00 oyster special and 1/2 off selected bottles of wine. My husband enjoyed 6 of their Blue Point Oysters and loved them. We also each had the filet mignon with sides of mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. All were delicious. A special note, the owners are a husband and wife team. The husband is the chef and the wife runs the front end along with making the homemade desserts. If you love fresh clams and oysters this is the place for you. I have searched for Kumamoto oysters they have them, and they are fresh. Love clams? They have two styles. I have had the "French style" it's amazing. The broth is so good with garlic and leeks and white wine. We had the mashed potatoes with lobster. They are very very good . The bread pudding by far is one of the best I have had. The bacon is thick and crispy. The Ice cream is banana flavor and not overly sweet: a true banana flavor and not artificial. The sauce is star of this dish. I am so happy to try another seafood upscale restaurant. In Scottsdale. They do it right. The staff is attentive and interact. They know the menu and provide the recommendations that you are needing without being pretentious. If you love seafood done well with a great atmosphere check them out.
