I don't normally write reviews for chains like this one, but felt I should help the business, and counter balance the underserved 1 star reviews. I fell in love with Modern Market while staying in Las Colinas for cancer treatment last year. For some reason, there is always a Cava built next to them, and shady on Cava - because the MM always opens first. If you're trying to decide between the two, they're both tasty, but Cava has 2 to 3 times more calories than MM, so MM is actually MUCH better for your waistline. This location: did not seem slower than the other location I've been to. Wait time on food is typically 10-30 minutes to make. You can order online in advance, and it'll be ready and waiting. Cute and small with an upstairs as well as a little outdoor patio. Very FRESH food. Honestly, I thought this was way more fresh than what I got near Dallas. All of my greens were very crisp and perfect. Both my friend and I were very happy with our orders. I had the blueberry pesto sandwich (which I've always loved), paired with a side of tomato soup. My friend had a chicken salad. The restaurant was clean, and the staff did a great job at preparing our food, and keeping the place nice. Definitely worth it, and if you want to skip the wait, order online - it is 2022!! read more

Foods fine, but they are BAD at getting orders right and on time. I ordered ahead at 10:45am for 1pm pickup and when I arrived at 1, they hadn't even started the order yet. This has happened more than once. I get lunch is a rush hour but it's a common theme here and it's getting frustrating. Also ordered the smoked salmon salad to go and they forgot the egg. We realized they gave us the wrong pizza (the amount of other reviews w/the same experience is deafening). After being asked to correct the entire wrong pizza, we were accused of stealing. Here's the deal, the food here is a bit expensive, but that's the case for most healthy fast food options so no real faults there. The portions are decent, if your expecting something the size of what they serve at Olive Garden or Chili's, look elsewhere. I have had everything from protein bowls, most of the sides, and my favorite- the margarita pizza. It was all better than average in terms of taste and the chicken is particularly flavorful and well cooked. Here's where I have an issue- every time I place an order for delivery, I get shorted on sides every time. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but know that If you place an order with door dash or Uber eats order 2 sides to save yourself the trouble. For 2.50, I should get a regular sized side, the amount of food in the already small side container is laughable. It would be different if it was consistently like this, however, it's ONLY when I have the food picked up for delivery. It's almost like they know they can get away with it because I'm not there in person and it's already packaged up by them. I feel shorted, and for the price of the food here, skimping out when you know you can get away with it is ridiculous. Overall, if you're in the area and can afford it, go for it. Ordering delivery? Skip the sides, it's not worth the anger you'll feel when you take it out of the package to reveal 2 tablespoons worth of Mac n cheese in a comically regular sized container. read more

Located right in the heart of downtown, this is one of my favorite places to go for a lunch break! I love their protein bowls, as their Heirloom rice is especially good. I have gotten both the chicken and the steak options, and have to say that the steak is kind of bland and nothing special. That being said, their side veggies are surprisingly good and they give a decent portion size. I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet, but I have had friends comment that the pizza is not too great. Almost rated them after my first visit but glad I waited to try it again and rate it. Have given it three takes now and have to say one star is more than nice. The food the first time was decent but the staff was off putting at best. The second time the food was such a disappointment. And finally the third time we went this last weekend was disgusting and appalling. We arrived at 7:30, 30 minutes before closing time at 8pm. After standing in line for 10 minutes thinking oh maybe they are behind on orders, we realized that they were just ignoring us. This place was truly amazing! I ordered the sesame tofu bowl with sweet potato mash, and a blue cheese arugula salad. Their tofu was very flavorful. Tofu is always a hit or miss depending how long they marinate it or season it and this tofu was sooo good!!! My spouse had the blueberry pesto sandwich and sweet potato curry. He said this was the best sandwich he has ever had!!! Everything we had was so flavorful! We also tried their carrot lemonade and cucumber mint lemonade. Let me tell you these drinks were so refreshing on this very hot Austin day. There was a worker cleaning the dining room and she was so incredibly nice and made sure everything was to our tasting. My girlfriend had been wanting to try this place for quite some time, so on Thursday we had our weekly dinner here with my family . It was located on Congress in a really nice little building that was quite a draw to the restaurant. What drew us here was the healthy menu items that are Much tougher to find when eating out. The menu had a pretty good amount of variety in it, but lately I've had a pizza craze so I went with that and got a Margherita pizza. The food was out pretty quick and had good presentation. The food was decent, but it wasn't as good as I had expected. Lately I've been having pizza out rather frequent and this one was a little under the quality of the others, but I'm sure it was a bit healthier. Overall, the other members of my group all said that it wasn't too great so that is a big anchor in my rating. I'd give it a try a again, but didn't quite hit the spot this time. read more

My go to lunch spot if I don't bring lunch from home. Always fresh, always delicious. My usuals are Buddha Bowl or Coconut Thai salad. I always sub their chicken/fish for tofu and MM is the only place that does not up-charge me for a change, but rather deduct $0.70 from the total! I usually order on the app (you get $5 off when you order the first time and then accumulate rewards) and pick up myself. Food is always ready, and so far my order has always been correct. $10 lunch that keeps me satisfied and full. Highly recommend. read more

We had a terrible experience here tonight ... The manager was so rude and served the hot soup in plastic cups which was not appropriate for hot food. When ordering we said we wanted to dine in and we had 40 min to closing but they said they are closing and for that reason they serve the food "to go". They also didn't let us sit in patio which due to Covid we preferred that. We had to wait 5 min for them to unlock patio door so we could sit outside. We ended up asking for refund and left. My coworker and I were so hungry; after a morning of traveling, we needed some lunch. When we stepped in, we noticed the cleanliness and the modern decor, very appealing for lunch. The cashier was friendly and definitely approachable and we each ordered what looked good: a Buddha bowl for me and an artichoke pizza for him. The Buddha bowl was perfect; full of veg and grains plus some tofu, definitely needed after two plane rides. The artichoke pizza was also superb, with the crust being just the right consistency and the artichokes not overwhelming. I typically prefer to frequent independently owned restaurants, but my girlfriend and I keep coming back to Modern Market. You really can't beat their prices for a healthy meal. I usually get the salmon bowl with the sweet potato mash and she gets the chicken with grilled vegetables. Both of us usually love our meals, but sometimes my salmon is more well done than I'd prefer, so they definitely have a consistency problem. But again, the price is great and they're usually super quick in preparing it. They have a pretty ideal Covid pickup procedure, too, which I appreciate. read more

Found on Yelp searching for healthy food options. There is indoor and outdoor seating- I chose a high top window seat. I got the lemongrass pork bowl and ordered a side of rosemary sweet potatoes and a local kombucha. The bowl itself was a little smaller so I was glad I had the sweet potatoes in addition. The bowl came with "pickled" onions on top which were less pickled and more just raw onions, which I picked off. Plenty of upstairs seating too. They serve beer and wine. read more

Recently I tried delivery from this place during covid and was blown away at how good my buddha bowl was. I substituted chicken for the tofu and it was juicy and flavorful. I also added sweet potato to my order and it arrived grated, not cubed, which was interesting, but it was all delicious. I'll have to remember Modern Market Eatery for future lunches. read more

I never post reviews, but I had such a gross experience with my food at Modern Market that I felt like I needed to at least warn someone about potential food safety issues. I ordered food via Doordash and had already begun eating when I noticed something odd in the salad. Looking closer, I noticed a huge dead bug, something that looked like ladybug larva, stuck to the leaves. It clearly hadn't crawled in at any point during delivery, as it was dead and stuck to the leaf - is must have been there beforehand, meaning that Modern Market does not carefully wash their vegetables. Attached is a photo of the large, salad-dressing-covered dead bug I found in my food for reference. This was nauseating to find, especially considering I had already started eating the food. To preface, I used to love mod market and have had positive experiences a few times before. UNTIL TODAY. Never go here unless u wanna be sick!!! Potatoes were cold, chicken was not warm at all. Hard boiled egg was a super light yellow color. Everything about the bowl was not right- except maybe the lettuce part of the salad. When walking up to the counter we noticed fruit flies in the food and saw them crawling around the desserts. We asked for refunds for the food and the manager was very rude and at one point said she didn't know how to complete the refund and didn't bother to ask anyone. I know a lot of the time bad food isn't the staffs fault, but this lady was truly rude and uncaring of the experience. A real bummer - I think there was a change of management. Just very downhill. Ok I've had two completely different experiences here. We were invited for lunch here for their preview before opening to the public. Everything I and my co-workers had was fantastic!! The salmon was juicy, mac & cheese on point, mashed potatoes flavorful...was so looking forward to coming back. Now I don't know how much the lunches were as we had a free preview but easily they could be $12-$15 and well worth it! Now for the bad...went there this morning for breakfast. The place was empty (yay no wait). I ordered the maple sausage biscuit (looked great online) and co-worker ordered brekkie bowl. We waited for over 15 minutes because the cooks could not get the eggs right. No apologies, no one explaining what was going on until we were fed up waiting and asked. Manager looked our direction a few time but said nothing. Took our food finally back to our office and the disappointment continued. Sausage biscuit was a joke...almost $9 for what I got and the bread was stale, sausage patty laughable. The berkkie bowl...not much better, sweet potatoes were WAY over done! Needless to say this will not be our office's breakfast place. Again, the lunch was AMAZING and I'll go back for that but I'd save my money and go to Floyd's or P Terry's for breakfast, better price and quality of food. read more
