This is a great place for wholesome, casual dining. I would recommend the signature bowls. During a November 2019 trip to Austin to attend a conference, I happily stumbled on this branch of Modern Market after walking a few blocks uphill on Congress from the JW Marriott Hotel. The menu can seem overwhelming at first. For early dinner, I chose the herb chicken for a protein with mashed sweet potatoes and mixed greens as the 2 sides. I crave this place so often, and I'm not mad about it. It is downtown and great place for your lunch break(but get there early if you plan to eat in). I always get the curry salmon bowl, and it does not disappoint. It's one of the pricier items on the menu, but is still a great deal for the taste. What was delivered were sad paper bags with the names of the sandwich sharpied on the wrapping and stapled shut. The sandwiches and cookies were so stale. The ciabatta was barely edible and the "chips" were a small handful of chips in a plastic bag with a really weird flavor. Modern Market, you're everything that Freshii wishes it was. Fairly fast casual with a focus on healthy options and a slick design that's not too stuffy and not too sterile. I dug into the "Modern Mushroom" pizza and for under $10.00 it was an absolute deal. I couldn't finish the entire pie, which was piled high with toppings and slightly charred on the crust. If I were at a legit pizza-only restaurant I'd say this was a decent pie but considering that this came from a "healthier" restaurant, I'm pretty impressed. Another fave of mine was the selection of lemonades that were self-serve. I come by for lunch at least once a month. It's a convenient spot for lunch, if you're working downtown. However, it does get busy around 12:30 to 1. I've never had an issue with the service. All the staff is friendly and quick with the orders. The area is not too small, but it's not a place to hold a team lunch. I would suggest a comfortable 4 people can get lunch together. Food has always been solid. I get the steak sandwich, which is a decent quantity for the price you pay. I can't speak on any other items. I ordered 6 sandwiches for a company meeting and set it for a future delivery date. I realized that I needed to order 4 more sandwiches after placing my order so I tried calling Modern Market but could not reach anyone so I placed a separate order for the 4 sandwiches. Come the day of the meeting, 4 sandwiches get delivered at 10:50am (I set the delivery time to 11am) however when I asked the delivery guy about the remaining sandwiches, he said it would be delivered by another Door Dash person. At 11:30am, the sandwiches still had not been delivered yet so I give Modern Market a call. The employee tells me that he has the sandwiches here but that he has no control over Door Dash. He asks if I can go pick it up (mind you I selected the delivery option) in which I say no as it's inconvenient to go pick up a "delivery" order downtown. He tells me I'll need to call Door Dash about my order. I hang up, try finding Door Dash's number, and realize that DD only displays an email address. I call back Modern Market and his only solution to me was telling me that I have to come pick up my delivery order since he can't get a hold of DD himself. The Modern Market employee tells me that I would get a phone call from the Store Manager to discuss this issue and I have yet to hear back from them. Very fast service, and the portion sizes aren't bad either for the price! Despite being out of carrots for the Buddha Bowl, I was allowed to substitute it free of charge.
