It's seems like they want you in and out of the chair as quickly as possible and just want to get their money. Then they make you feel bad about your tipping. I came here for a mani/pedi and had an amazing experience, but I'm not sure I'll be back unless I want a specific nail design. This shop has it all and my styler was incredibly skilled. Probably the most beautiful my nails have ever looked! However, only my toes were cleaned. For the amount paid to get your nails done, I would expect my fingernails to be cleaned as well (and for me, that's half the reason to get a mani/pedi). So my nails looked beautiful, but were outlined with hangnails and the like which deminishes the overall effect. Hence why I will probably only be back for a very formal event for the artistry and stick to elsewhere for everything else. read more

For starters, WOW! I am so happy with my nails! I originally went to a nail salon in Thousand Oaks over a month ago to get a full set. The guy at the TO location was very aggressive with my hands, he messed up the shape (I ended up having to fix them when I got home) and I did not want to go back there, so I looked for other salons near me. I found Modern Nail Lounge which is basically down the street from where I live. My first impressions of the salon was that it was so beautiful on the inside and professional looking. Man...I've loved this place when I first moved to Cali 2 years ago, but the last 6-8 months I have felt my love sloooowly descending... it started when I was feeling very rushed and would leave with my hands throbbing w/ small cuts from them flying through it. I've tried a few places in between, but keep giving this place a shot and still left disappointed most times. I went last week for a "fill" not only did I leave super disappointed (kinda embarrassed) in the look of my nails, he charged me 60$!?! When I asked why, he said because they thinned out my nails and shaped them...but one I never asked for them to be thinned, the shape was the same as it was when I walked in, and he made them so thin one has already broken and my nail is being held on by super glue until I find a new place. It doesn't feel good writing this, but I've been pretty loyal and felt taken advantage of with the price and I now have to go spend more money to redo them all. read more

Overall, I'm happy with my mani and pedi but it wasn't worth the time it took, price and overall awkwardness of the experience. The place is nice and clean and the staff is nice if not neutral with the customers, but there is a sense of frustration/tension. Maybe it's because they're trying to get to the next customer waiting. Who knows. I came in with an appointment but was left lingering in the front area waiting for some form of instruction to sit or to follow someone. The pedicurist was polite and gave me a decent pedi. My toes needed one or two more coats of color when she finished so I felt awkward/bad asking the man who booked my appointment if I could get one more coat. Someone else added the addition coats of polish but I already felt weird about it. An hour had gone by and my mani hadn't even started. I was asked to wait at one station where I was give a hand massage and then asked to wash my hands. I finally sat down with the manicurist and she sped through it (in a good way) but her energy was just so tense. Again, she probably needed to get to her next client. By now it's been an hour and a half which I hadn't planned on. When she was finished she mumbled something and got up to see the next customer. I got up and walked to the register thinking someone would meet me but was left lingering again. My total for a regular pedi and a gel mani was $75 which seemed high for me but I haven't had a mani/pedi in a while so many that's the going rate. I added my tip for the women which brought my total to $90. I walked out relieved to be out of there. I'm pretty sure I won't go back. I've been to some great nail salons like Mink Nails in Thousand Oaks and was hoping to find a similar place near my new home but I will just make the trip there next time. I hope future customers can leave with a different experience and feel amazing. read more

Extremely disappointed with this establishment. I had been going here for quite some time now and even recommended them to many people, however I will NOT be going back after my experience today. They were extremely rude to me and my sisters- the worst customer service I've EVER experienced. My nail technician acted put out and annoyed when I asked to see what colors they had to pick from. She finished my nails in 30 minutes, didn't include lotion or anything else you'd expect to get with paying $50 for a service. After leaving and feeling uneasy, I called and spoke to Tiffany and her husband. Neither of them seemed to care or even apologize. All they were concerned about is if I liked my nails? I explained that getting your nails done and paying $50 is more than just liking your color- it's about feeling relaxed and being treated nicely. It was far from relaxing as they were rude and acted like they didn't want to be there. It was the first appointment of the day. No excuse to treat a paying customer this way, EVER. read more

I seriously love this place. I go to Andrew (the owner) for my nails. He's so calm and mellow, and really seems to care about his customers. My nails always look amazing. His wife Tiffany, the other owner, does my moms nails. Hers always look great too and last so long. They both talked to us about switching from acrylic to biogel, and now there's no way I could ever go back to acrylic. It's a bit more expensive but lasts SO much longer, never chips or breaks. It's the best. My pedicures are always done by whoever they have available and they've been great every single time. They are super sanitary. Everything they use is either single use, or is taken out of the autoclave and wrapped up, so you know it hasn't been used on anyone else. Heard that nail salons finally opened two days ago. So I went in for a pedi. Very disappointed - one customer wasn't wearing a mask and the employees walking around either didn't have one on or it was below their nose or on their chin. My technician did wear a mask and gloves, but the place had paper covering all the windows, no lights on, and many customers were entering from the back (which no one ever does). I've been coming here for several years and won't go back. Apparently they have been open for more that just two days. I did not feel safe, the place was not being wiped down, and the attitude wasn't one of even caring. I understand times are tough, but we have a pandemic going on and not following the strict guidelines to keep people safe is just careless and unacceptable. Terrible. read more

I absolutely love modern nails but I had one nail tech named Trina who was rude and got gel polish on my skin when doing French tips. As a result I developed a rash in those areas because of the gel being cured on my skin. Please be careful or speak up if there is gel on your skin as you can develop a life long allergy to gel polish. read more

So I tried this place out since my normal girl is out on maternity leave. Such a peaceful place, everyone is so nice. Tiffany the owner did my nails perfectly and made sure each nail was perfect. I got a full set with gel polish. The only reason for a 4 star was because 1. It's a little pricey 2. I don't think my nails were dry in between coats cause when I left I hit a nail on the car door and it had a huge dent in the nail and still does. I came in for a gel color change. First a woman sat me down to remove my old gel polish. They then had me sit there for about 15mins. To the point where the acetone was starting to hurt and really irritate my hands. Then a guy who had just been pacing around the salon the whole time finally sat down to do my nails. It's really disappointing when I have to inspect my nails just so I know I can come home to a nicely painted one.
