I've been looking at all different makes and models for a litttle while now but kept going back to the Subaru Forester. Between the salesman Daniel Radcliffe, the Manager Nelson Peterson and knowing that I had done my homework made this experience the best most relaxing car buying experience I've had. While other dealerships were very pushy and expected a deal just because you walked on the lot, Daniel was knowledgable, courteous and did not flip out when I told him I wanted to look at another vehicle. Stay away from this Subaru dealership, no morals and truly unethical business they sold me a 2015 Impreza wagon with curb rashes. Drove to Modesto from San Jose (90 miles in traffic at 4pm) finally got to the dealer at 7:30pm they close at 8pm. Didn't even have the right car picked out i specifically said WAGON not sedan. I was working with Brenda who was extremely lazy and not giving me any updates on anything just terrible service. I finally emailed the sales manager and what do you know they emailed me back within 5 mins. I never felt so rushed to buy a vehicle, didn't even give me a chance to go over the vehicle. But since I made that commitment drive I basically just bought the vehicle and this is a Subaru certified preowned with no floor mats, not even closely being detailed to the slightest. Of course like any dealership they tried to bump up the price of the vehicle when it was clearly advertise on the website for the asking price. Left the finance department with no registration sticker. "Oh we can just mail you that sticker"at that point I was checked out and just wanted to leave that shit hole. Texted the sales rep and sales manager about the wheels the next morning with no response of course showed him the pictures regarding on what happened. Got a call from this manager by the name of ED basically called me a liar and said "how do we know it wasn't you?" Blown away on this purchase came out to be. I rather deal with a dealership on crows landing rd took in the vehicle for service and ended up finding multiple issues From another Subaru dealership. Please take note that I purchase a CERTIFIED PREOWNED Subaru vehicle. I am on yet another Subaru. I won't give the count but it's the car for me. I went to the 2015 Outback event and met Brittany. I liked the 2015 but wanted a color they did not have. Warning! They tricked you when negotiating the price and changed it in the actual contract! Think twice and read very carefully before you sign the contract! I bought a car from them recently. They promised to give me a two-year service (about $500) for free. Then in the contract, they charged us for this plan and added another $1800 plan for extended warranty. My husband did not read it carefully before signing since it was late at night and my child was starving. Then we found them the next day and they did not admit the oral negotiation at all. Part of the fault is on us not reading the contract carefully. But they are not honest people to work with for sure! read more

Very happy with the service done on my crosstrek today. Nick, the service technician that helped us, was very knowledgeable and kind. Myles also helped us, and he was great, really thorough. They checked our vehicle thoroughly and even found a bulb that needed replacing. They were able to change the bulb during my oil change and had us out of there fast. I was worried about the fact that they don't make appointments for oil changes, but they are very efficient!! When I take my Toyota for oil changes at modesto Toyota, I have to make an appointment and am usually without my vehicle for half of the day- at least! Really happy with this express service system they have. Combined with the great service from Nick and Myles- we will keep coming back! read more

I bought new Subaru Crosstrek here about a week ago. I walked in and was immediately upset with the general manager Reggie white. I felt that he was being dishonest with me to try to get me to choose Subaru over other manufacturers. I was turned off but still had questions. That's when Jesus Franco jumped in and answered all my questions honestly and kindly. Even though I decided I liked Subaru and Jesus, I wasn't going to back to that dealership because I thought I would have to hassle with the Reggie person. But, the next day my co-worker told me about the Costco care buying program which took the haggle out of the purchase. I thought, now I can go back there and give the sale benefits to the guy who deserves it... Jesus Franco!. He did a great job. He never lost his patience and Thankfully Reggie wasn't there. I was happy with everything except the 150 miles that was put on my car to drive it from Auburn to bring it to Modesto for me. It was not explained to me where the car was coming from our how many miles it would have on it. I was shocked and disappointed. Maybe this is common but I was not told not did I know about this. Ed martin sales manager was told about my dissatisfaction and compensated me some gas and a Subaru jacket. It helped me feel better about it. Modesto Subaru has the absolute BEST of staff! I had almost given up hope after shopping around at previous car dealerships due to their overall rude and unsatisfactory customer service THEN stumbled upon Sales Advisor Jesus Franco who caught us looking at vehicles past their hrs of operation from the sidewalk (we wasted too much of our time at previous car dealerships). He approached us and basically with opened arms, welcomed us inside the dealership. He stayed after hours sharing his very knowledgeable information on their SUV's and didn't try to press us into buying something, yet warmly invited us back with an appointment around our schedule which was still a week away in when we'd be able to return. In previous attempts at shopping around, salesmen had tried to get us to buy then and there or make a return right the following day, no layaway time it felt like, cause then we'll "lose" the once in a life time amazing deal. Mr. Franco followed up with a phone call and we were there the next week to purchase a new model. He worked with us in pricing and got us rolling in our new wheels! Mr. Perry the sales manager there also worked with me in obtaining all the extra features I wanted and made sure I left happy and satisfied, he made calls and deals with us so that we as the customers felt at ease and good about our buy. Instead of an apology, I was given an excuse that the express services are not done by the experienced techs. This is only in regards to the Service Department. Well they don't call them stealerships for nothing. I purchased my new BRZ from here and was impressed by the level of professionalism and respect from the Sales dept that I decided to continue business with them in the service department. I am no dumb dumb when it comes to the fact that dealership make a good chunk of their profit for the Services dept, at the end of the day a business has to make a profit somehow, but come my 60k service, that ended. I was quoted almost 1500 for my maintenance on my vehicle which included oil change, tire rotation, change tranny fluid, brake and clutch bleed, amongst other things. I quickly changed my mind decided to jump ship before it was too late. I then did my own research and bought all of the things needed to do the service myself and found that it came to less than $300 and a few hours of my time. I am competent in DYI when it comes to cars and maintenance and came here solely due to the fact that I supported this business due to how well the sales process has gone but after finding out that this "stealership" was going to make over $1200 off me, that was the last straw. If you can do your own maintenance, do it, its not worth your lost money on supporting this kind of rip off read more

If i could put less than one star trust me i would..let me tell you how i received horrible customer service by employee carlos and manager sean. Waited about 2 weeks for a car they had "found and were processing" to make its way into town (i understand the regulations due to COVID-19) that was not the issue. Carlos failed to give me any updates, i had to text him every couple days to even find out anything going on. Then promises me he will have a update by x date and fails. Then tells me "they sold the car" when it was "in process" to come to the dealership? Both Carlos and sean had talked to us and said the car would be coming it might just take a while due to the circumstances but never was i told of the possibilities that could happen or that i would have to bug a "salesperson" to do their job correctly. If you are thinking of buying at this location, please be cautious because clearly they do not care to waste your time or take you serious. read more

Bought a used Subaru from these thieves. They sold the car with worn out tires, that's illegal in California. The cd player which is combined with the A/C controls, including defroster, would only take one CD and after playing a CD for 20 minutes it would shut down the entire system, including the A/C controls and defroster. The car also only came with 1 set of keys and 1 remote. After several contacts with the sales manager, he agreed to send a reimbursement for the tires, but he did not send the mounting fee. He would not stand behind the CD problem, even though it caused the defroster to not work. A dangerous and again illegal situation. After 3 weeks he "found" the extra keys but when he sent them to me the keys were not programmed and that cost nearly one hundred dollars since normal humans cannot program keys for this car. He said he would reimburse me for this out of pocket expense but then decided to again lie and not pay. So I am out of pocket about an extra six hundred on this car. read more

Our story began with a 12 year old Subaru Outback wagon which would stop on the street - or in the Safeway parking lot! It could not be restarted. After 2 stops on the street & more trips than that to the service dept, they could not find the answer. Ron heard our frustration & wanted to help us in whatever way would make us happy. At first we considered having it towed to the dealer where we bought it in the Bay Area since we couldn't get an answer. We hadn't been ready to replace it yet, although we had looked at the new Outback a month or so before & met with Mark at that time. We asked Ron for some time to consider what we wanted to do. I realized I never wanted to drive that car again even if it were "fixed", so we chose the replacement path. Ron never pushed us at all. He explained all the options & models for the Outback & helped us choose the one that we wanted. He offered us a courtesy car while we decided. He gave us a better trade in price than we had expected. Buying a car has been miserable in the past. When we bought the first one at Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City, it was the first time there was no pressure to buy. At Modesto Subaru, the same was true. Ron, Mark & Lapon all worked with us. Lapon found the car in the color & with the package that we wanted! He has a huge amount of knowledge about this car. Now we have a new 2015 Outback with the features ( mainly safety but color too!!) that we wanted and it was not stressful at all. Ron, Mark & Lapon treated us exceptionally well. The model & package we chose did not include leather seats. They told us we could have the cloth replaced with leather at a local business for a reasonable price- they are fantastic - hard to believe they were added after market. Modesto Subaru Sales Staff have been terrific. Already we have given cards for Lapon & Mark to several people. We highly recommend them & Reggie to anyone who may consider buying a Subaru in the area. While we had some issues with communication within the Service Department on this occasion, we had good service in the past. Carl Hansen, the manager of that department, did listen to us & we like working with him. All in all an excellent experience from a less than auspicious beginning. read more

Brought in my Subaru Legacy for the first time for repairs and I was impressed with the entire experience. I was greeted with a smile and the Service Advisor Steve quickly wrote up my problem and set me up with a loaner car so I can get on with my day. When I picked up my car later that day he explained the repairs in layman terms so I can understand. The dealership was clean and they provided coffee and snacks which was refreshing. In oct. 2016 I bought a Subaru Crosstrek, which I love. I had an issue when I bought my car in that they had the wrong VIN for it which caused me to have to return to the dealership, contact my insurance and generally be inconvenienced. I also had problem with my trade in. Yesterday I received the second parking ticket on my car I traded in. Obviously Modesto Subaru did not transfer the title properly when they resold the car. I now, once again, have to make a copy of the transfer of title to Modesto Subaru and mail it in so I don't have to pay a parking ticket on a car I no longer own. I contacted Modesto Subaru the last time this happened and was assured they would take care of it. Clearly they didn't. I caution anyone buying a car from them that their handling of paperwork is sloppy and cause you issues in the future. read more

This is strictly a review of the service center. They have terrible customer service. If you call to try and get information you will most likely get the answering machine. Don't waste your time leaving a message because they will not call you back. When you go in the employees are rude and don't know what they are doing. I have been to the service center about 5 times and on two instances the girl misquoted me my invoice and tried to charge me more than what I owed. On Memorial Day Enrique Mejia did an amazing job helping us out, helped us with all the questions we had and showed us everything they had available to find the right car for us. However we were not too thrilled that after we test drove the car we had already thoroughly inspected decided to purchase, the keys were given to another associate to park it for us, but instead the other guy drove it around back and sold it to a different family. When Enrique told us what happened as we were midway through the purchasing process, told us that there was another car exactly like the one in the side lot. Since it was at the very end of the evening past their normal closing time almost 10pm, it was dark outside, we were rushed and weren't able to fully inspect the car that was delivered to us before leaving the lot. The other associate dampened the experience for us, but Enrique did a great job in trying to help us out as much as possible, we will be going back to Enrique in the future for our next Subaru purchase. I generally detest buying cars, especially the endless haggling. I've used programs in the past with guaranteed pre-negotiated prices just to avoid the hassle. I showed up with a very lived in Forester and a preset goal in mind (trade-in price, sale price, and interest rate), and a 45 minute self-imposed time limit. I knew both the sales manager, Reggie, and the floor manager, Frank, from my purchase three years ago (the employee stability is a good sign), and they handed me an offer that hit my goals thirty minutes after I walked in. They've managed to do this twice now, so yes, I am happy with the sales experience, and will give them the first chance again when it's time for a new car. read more
