After two weeks of phone calls (them calling me to stay in touch, and them calling Scion a lot), they were given a 2nd car...just for me. I understand you get what you get with a used car. But I purchased a used 2007 Yukon Denali from Modesto Toyota back in April, and when I took it back to them the day after I purchased it for the transmission slipping and shifting hard, they told me it was "normal" and I was not "used to the vehicle" (This is my 2nd Yukon Denali) I went with what they said and continued to drive the vehicle since the hard 2nd-3rd gear shift/flare was considered "normal" to them. Fast forward to now, just after making my third payment on the vehicle I am told I need to have my transmission rebuilt or a new one put in. I will never purchase a vehicle here again. I have to say that when I sent an online request about the vehicle in question on Saturday, 11/08/14, I received an immediate call from Jamie Lucas and I told her I was coming from Fresno on a last minute decision as I needed to purchase something soon. My husband had wanted me to find a vehicle that I felt comfortable in and told me that it's about time that I get something really nice and that I wanted. This wasn't an easy task choosing but I knew that Toyota's are great vehicles and that Modesto Toyota reviews were good. I had been looking all over the Central Valley and they had the best deals on vehicles closest to the Kelley Blue Book values. I went to look at the several Toyota 4Runner SR5's that they had. Jamie met me upon arrival and was very pleasant & patient with me as we test drove each one. While I was there, I had noticed that I hadn't taken my medication that I was supposed to earlier in the day & became quite ill so I wasn't feeling very good at all. I had given Jamie my husbands information, since he works 7 days, 12 hour shifts and it wasn't going to be an easy task in me driving the several hours back home. Jamie had contacted my husband at work to discuss financing but my husband's primary concern was for me to get home. She had mentioned to me that the vehicle could be delivered to us in Fresno, which I thought was a huge plus given our situation. This helped tremendously in making our decision. Jamie through out kept asking me if I was ok which was thoughtful and I told her that I desperately needed to get home as soon as possible but needed to find a restaurant to relax at first and she suggested several nice places nearby. My husband after arriving home from his 12 hour shift, went online and filled out the application to start the ball rolling and thats where it began. We received a call from Jamie the next day saying that she got us a rate but "suggested" that we wait until Monday to obtain a better one. We did. The Finance Department obtained such an outstanding rate for us and yesterday, 11/11/14, Veteran's Day, of all days, since my husband is a retired Navy Veteran, the 2012 Toyota 4Runner SR5, was delivered to us all the way from Modesto Toyota, with all of the paperwork. Upon arriving here I noticed that the 4Runner didn't have the floor mats included in the back of the vehicle. I asked the guy who delivered it and he suggested I contact the dealer. When I called Jamie, she said that she will call AP and have the floor mats ordered so I can pick them up at a local dealer here in Fresno. This is what I call service!! My husband signed over his 1997 Ford F-150 with 380,000 miles on it to them and they drove it away. He's had that since it had 4 miles on it. It was hard for him to see that drive off with someone else in it but we now have another vehicle that we are very excited to make new memories in. I am more than pleased with the quality of service that we have received from Modesto Toyota and we will always return to them for future purchases. BUYERS BEWARE!!! The incident occurred on March 31, 2020 at around 3:00pm PST at Modesto Toyota in Modesto, California. I, Sunny Xiong, came in to Modesto Toyota with the intent of buying a car. With my background and experience in Banking/Lending, I knew to come in prepared with a Pre-Approval Letter, which is through Capital One Financial, and funds for the down payment. I viewed the vehicle with the Sales Representative named German and wanted to see if we can work a deal with my Pre-Approval through Capital One. During the application process, I requested German and the Sales Manager, Rick, to only run it through Capital One and Toyota Financial Services. They both agreed and requested me to sign the application. Upon waiting for the decision, I receive an email from Experian that Modesto Toyota not only ran it through Capital One and Toyota Financial Services, but Bank of America and Ally Financial. I questioned Rick and he stated that the only way to get me financing was to run it through multiple lenders. I argued with Rick stating that I already have my Pre-Approval with Capital One and was not consulted before submitting my application to the unauthorized lenders. Rick immediately left and brought in another Sales Manager by the name of Ashur Paulus. Ashur started arguing with me saying that the credit inquiries for Bank of America and Ally Financial did not impact my credit. I advised him of my occupation and experience in Banking/Lending, educating him that a hard credit inquiry remains on ones credit for the minimum of 25 months, as stated on the email I recieved from Experian. Ashur dodge my response and began arguing with me saying that once I sign the application, it gives him the power to run my credit through any lender and anyone. I argued and stated that I bought Toyota vehicles in the past through Toyota dealerships and this is the first time I have heard of it. I stated that his actions were unethical and asked him to remove it since I only requested my credit to be ran through Capital One and Toyota Financial Services. Ashur refused, threw my paperworks, and kicked me out of the dealership. As a consumer who works in Lending and Customer Service field, this treatment is very abusive and unjust. I was misled and told false information. The dealership was so focused on the sale that they disregarded my requests and concerns. My fear was this action happening and today, it happened. Please help and research my concerns, as I am confident that many clients are being taken advantage of at this dealership and many more. Please bring this concern to light to prevent future clients from experiencing the same unjust, abusive, deceptive actions. read more

This review is for Chris in Sales. I worked with him and he immediately helped me narrow down my selection and talked to me about the hybrids and electric vehicles that Toyota currently has to offer. He told me how the buying process worked since the car I wanted wasn't on the lot but they estimated to get one within the next 5-6 weeks. He never tried to upsell me and was very clear with the difference in packages. I can honestly say that this was the best car buying process I've ever experienced and this is my fourth new car. Despite this being the only car I've purchased since the chip shortage, it was still the easiest and I felt comfortable adding an extended warranty (which I never do but the price was incredibly fair) since I commute so much. I went to modesto toyot yesterday with my cousin to buy a new 4runner and we were able to pick out a car of his liking. So we went inside into the office with the salesman to talk about the cost of the car. The car was was priced at 42900, so I began trying to negotiate the walkout price, which included tax and fee. The manager Allen comes to the office and collects my cousin financial info and we began to talk about the final price for the car. I asked him if he is willing to sale the car for 42900 out the door including taxes and fees, and he stated there is no way he can do that because he would have to discount us about 4k, to get that price. He also stated they only have a limited supply so they can't make that happen. So I ask him to give us the Costco price. He said ok, and we went to his office and came back with a price of 43,xxx. He wouldn't give me an exact number but it was close to what we were asking for. Then he asked if we can make a payment of 718 for 72 months, and I looked at him and said "that seems high. Can you give the interest rate on that loan?" He said ok and hurried off. He made us wait for over a half and and than kicked us out of the office for another customer and said they are waiting on the banks for a reply. This upset us and the salesman knew we were pissed. He apologize for this and we left. Fuck those guys. Shitty customer service. I bought a tundra and Camry from this dealer having good experience prior to this incident. I will never recommend family to this dealer again. I'm going to call corporate and file a complaint. read more

I went here yesterday to buy new windshield wipers and a key battery for my new car. I had the worst experience EVER, ANYWHERE! I went into the express lane. BTW, it was NOT busy at all. I got my parts, I had these two wonderful gentleman change my windshield wipers, it took them maybe 2 minutes, this GUY comes out, I believe his name is Noah, HE'S VERY UPSET AND SAIDS "LET THIS BE THE FIRST AND LAST TIME YOU HELP A CUSTOMER ON THE EXPRESS LANE, SHE NEEDED TO MOVE HER CAR. LET THIS BE A WARNING." I felt very uncomfortable and disturbed by this! I felt as though I was getting lectured and in trouble as well, I'M A CUSTOMER. A Manager does not give warning to their employees AND customers! This manager was a PIG that treats his employees like animals. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Toyota management does not value their customers, or at least one customer does not make a difference to them. I did not say anything at the moment because most likely he will retaliate. I felt so bad for those two gentleman, I feel at fault. I hope they did not get fired for helping me. I am very thankful for the gentleman that helped me out, they were true gentleman. My fiancé and I visited this location on Saturday and were quickly greeted by Penny. At first Penny seemed quite lovely, but then became even ruder the longer we were there. My fiancé was looking to leave the lot with a new vehicle but because of the service experience, we decided to go a different route. Penny excitedly showed my fiancé the new models he was interested, but the second he asked about used models and their prices, her demeanor changed. We took one of the vehicles for a test drive and she accompanied us which is standard practice but what was not standard was her lack of enthusiasm and he disinterest in getting to know a potential customer. After returning to the dealership, we tossed around the idea of used vs new and decided to go the route of new and go talk numbers. Before even making conversation or talking about the vehicle, she just asks for his social. And when he said he wanted to talk numbers and logistics first, she stopped making eye contact and just faced her computer screen. We had told her the goal was to trade the vehicle in and wanted to to try with zero down. We stated this multiple times. Once it was time for the vehicle to be appraised, the guy appraising it was lovely and so kind and took the time to explain things. While we were waiting for the appraisal to be done, we were seated at Penny's desk. Instead of making conversation with my fiancé, she decided playing on Facebook was more important. It was as if her mind was made up about us from the jump and it was a poor experience. Mind you I called because I have 2 little ones so it isn't easy to keep them sat for long periods of time. First time I go in, they were closed because they work mon-fri only, okay that's fine. Second time I go in they told me they can't do it and I was misinformed. I called for the same reason. They told me to call the place I purchased the car so they can fax me personally the paperwork, I asked them if they can fax it there since I don't have one at home and she said yes they can, but we won't be able to cancel it either way." Took my car for oil change and they supposedly did multi-point vehicle inspection report (MPI) supposedly they checked everything but my car is making a noice and apparently needs brakes. The salesman was really cool until his manager came along ( I forget the guys name ) and told me they didn't have any in stock and none were around, But if so, Dealers wouldn't want to trade. Understandable, But he wanted me to put $1,000 down on a car he told me they may not get for 6-7 months, and that they wouldn't discount it when it comes in, But they'd hook me up if I settled for a different color model.... I've had so many problems with this dealer it's unreal. It started off when I had a Scion tC that had issues with the Bluetooth connection. The text couldn't understand what was going on or the issue. They had no idea how the hardware in the car even worked. After that I would take the car there for an oil change and it would take 8 hours to get an oil change done . Yes I had an appointment. Currently I was going to trade my Scion in on a new Toyota. They told me they could match CarMax estimate for my car. So that sounded great I looked at cars and then we came down to a deal they wanted to knock the CarMax estimate down about $2,000. Then I shopped around and realized all their vehicles are three or four thousand dollars more than most other dealers. Needless to say I did not buy a car there. They called and called and called finally my daughter hung up on the lady and they stopped calling me. Today I gave them a call out of curiosity to see how much an oil change and tire rotation was for my scion. Yeah I decided to keep my Scion .They were $20 more than the Stockton dealership. When I told the lady that she laughed at me. I figured the prices would be standard across dealerships. I really like Toyotas products and I think that they've improved quite a bit . I just don't like the toyota dealerships. So far the only one that's been nice to me and treated me well is Stockton dealership. read more

I have been looking for a truck since May of this year, and I reside in San Diego County, I was hoping to find a truck that can haul a toy hauler that is 9k lbs, and I honestly wanted a toyota, but supposedly toyota trucks can only haul up to 10k lbs max., then while I was doing a bit of research, I discovered that toyota has a new truck which can haul up to 12k lbs., and I started investigating. The price of this particular truck in San Diego county it averages 70k$, I almost could not believe it. I started looking out of San Diego, and I found a dealer in Modesto that had exactly what I was looking for and this truck was below 50k$, I had to drive far to get this truck, and it was insane, not only because of the distance, but also cause I could not see that truck in person, only on pictures. I took a chance and called, this guy with a very mellow sound voice answered the phone, and I was shocked to connect with a person who is not so pushy and loud, not to mentioned the old sales pitch they use to get you to buy something super quick, very irritating; I started talking to this guy with soft mellow voice at Toyota of Modesto, his name is Elliott, something about the way he sounded gave me all the confidence that I truly needed, he ran our credit, and pre approved us right away, we drove there, and came back same day with an amazing truck. I am also super grateful for Financial Manager "Rick" who was in charge of all the paperwork, very professional, and super nice atmosphere. I experienced an unexpected transmission failure in my 2016 Tacoma. Could not believe a Toyota with 70,000 miles on it has a major failure. Fortunately I had an extended warranty and Josh Young assisting me. Josh was wonderful, contacting the warranty people, keeping me informed throughout the process. I've read their reviews, most of which are great, but my review is based on my online/email experience. I spoke with Sashi via email, who at first answered my questions promptly. My last email was asking about making a deposit to hold the vehicle till I could come see it in person (I'm out of state). I got no reply, so I called the next morning. The lady I spoke with on the phone was super friendly (and the only reason for the 2 stars rather than 1), but informed me the van looked like it was in the process of being sold, but assured me Sashi would get back to me to let me know either way. Again, no email - so I sent her one asking the status. Her reply was ""I emailed you earlier on!!!" No Sashi, you didn't - and even if you had, you still could have replied answering my question. So, I email again asking the status, she replied "It sold this morning!!!" It ticked me off some, but it is what it is. Then an hour later she send another email (unprompted by me) saying "Just because you didn't reply the Nissan sold, sorry about it". Bad communication, accusatory TWICE indicating I was at fault for missing the vehicle (even though I never once accused her for being at fault, even though she obviously was). Pretty crappy service unfortunately. read more
