Came in today because my check engine light came on the diagnostics fee is $230. Cool fair enough it's my engine light sounds super important. Then I mention my back window doesn't roll up sometimes I have to manually force it up for that they want an additional $230 and the lady working tries to treat me like I'm stupid and says "well they gotta pull the door panel off." Like that takes 4 guys and 3 hours or something and I should be thankful for the $230 DIAGNOSTIC fee. So I want to first off thank Modesto Toyota for making things right with us today. We had a recall on our Toyota and was told last month to come down and get the tires rotated and the recall fixed when we got there they said they couldn't rotated the tires they were the stock tires and my husband bought the truck brand new but after 20,000 on those they wore down. So they couldn't fix the problems and said they would order the recall parts and would call us when they came in fast forward to two days ago. We come down and there is a lady in service who tells us that she can't find the recall appointment. We end up with a supervisor who helps us and offers for us to finance tires so we get pre approved and she says pick out the tires that you want and then from that price what ever is left over the loan won't cover you pay. So we picked out a pair that was $326 over budget and we asked her if that was all we had to pay. She told us yes. We then asked for a rental car because we live two hours away in the mountains and she was like no problem. Before we leave a service guy comes over and says that the tires we wanted would take a week to get but he would get us firestones and honor the price of the other ones because they were more expensive but he needed the car for two days. We said no problem. So we come down two days later and when we show up I have a seizure disorder and ended up having a mild seizure while waiting for our truck. This made my husband anxious and upset and wanting to get right out of there so he asks for our truck they say no problem and the truck is ready the tires are gorgeous the vehicle is fixed it is absolutely amazing. Then the same people who helped us were not there. This pretty young girl then hands my husband a bill for over $800 dollars and says that is what is left over after the loan... he looks at it and is like no this is not what we were told. He is getting mad and anxious and concerned because we didn't have that much on us. He said the lady told me that I was approved for 1100 and I just paid the difference and the guy said that he would honor our price on the tires because the ones we wanted were out of stock. I can see panick in his eyes. I call the loan company they said the lady told us wrong and that we had to pay more then that for installation and that the 1100$ was for tires only. So I told them take these off put our other ones back on please we can't afford this then. Money is tight these days and we already didn't know we were getting tires. So she calls the service manager he was amazing he apologized over and over and said we will fix this and take care of it and make it right and you will leave with these tires... you know what he honored what they said they were going to do and him and this other guy were super sweet. He seems to believe belittling customers is a skill, when in reality it only highlights his glaring lack of professionalism, competence, and basic courtesy. Quite frankly, I would take my business to any other Toyota dealership; even the worst alternative would be a dramatic upgrade. Gave them a call and spoke to Brandon at first and then Christopher. Christopher told me that if I put a deposit down that it would lock me in at the purchase price and the car would be " sale pending". Christopher call me in the middle of the week and said the car is here and to let him know what would a good time to come by and look/purchased the car. I recently visited this Toyota dealership for routine maintenance on my vehicle. My experience was marred by poor customer service, long wait times, and unprofessional behavior from the service team. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, one of the service advisors questioned my knowledge regarding the scheduled maintenance aka (NoCost Toyota Care Service) , and implied that they don't do that kind of service at their location, (mind you i literally received a confirmation text of the appointment) This lack of professionalism set the tone for the rest of my visit. To all the women out there - be prepared for potentially poor treatment when visiting this dealership. To the management, I suggest retraining your staff on basic customer service skills and addressing the long wait times. p.s. To the service guy who tried denying me service: looks like someone's been eating their own ego along with their extra pounds. You'd think a gut would give you some perspective, but clearly it just gave you a bad digestion of social norms. But glad I gave them another chance after my bad experience, because they were helpful and not to mention the only toyota dealership in modesto witch is sometimes needed for special repairs for prius and other vehicles you just may want manufacturers parts and works ect . Modesto Toyota was eager to help us buy a new 2024 Grand Highlander and encouraging in the purchase of the extra warranty plan. They also promised a second key fab in 3-4 months. Unfortunately, we foolishly believed the warranty would cover things like the windshield that got a ding or the repair of the undercarriage after something torn the underneath felt in just the first few months. Nope - the extra coverage we bought does nothing. (Again - shame us to believe a dealership.). Also just called 5 months into having the car trying to get our second fab only to be told they won't come in until the end of 2024 - almost a year after buying our car. So just 1 key for at least a year and no one bothered to be upfront about that to us. Great car but dealerships are dealerships so a friendly reminder to know you are just another sucker to make money off of. Again - shame on us for thinking this place would be any different - just hoping other people lower their expectations so you don't feel sucker punched. It's a pretty bad feeling. read more

We were so impressed with how well informed our salesman Chris was that we felt confident enough to pick up a new hybrid vehicle that night. Had a 3:00pm appointment to do an easy oil change and oil filter change. That is it! 30 minutes total it should take to do an oil change. I arrived 15 minutes early and they took my truck back at 2:45pm. It was 4:25pm when I finally walked up to the Service Department counter and asked what the delay is and why it's taking so long. The Service employee said she would check on my truck. She comes back 5 minutes later and says they haven't even started service on my truck! I been waiting an 1 hour and 45 minutes total so far and was told it was going to take at least another hour to do an easy oil change! Lmfao. Worst experience ever at this dealership. A Regional Manager needs to come in and clean house on their business model at this location. What's the point of having an appointment if a 30 minute oil change turns into almost a 3 hour job? It was nice and my grandmother took a test drive and fell in love, little did we know she was gonna have problems with the car not even 30 days off the lot. She drives back and forth to the Bay Area for work everyday, she has to put air in the tire almost every 3 days and now the check engine light is on. We take it to go get checked and it's popping up as catalytic converter, which makes no sense. She doesn't deserve this we called and called and nobody has returned her phone calls. So disappointing, we should have read the reviews first and we definitely would have went somewhere else. They have a rude awakening coming, definitely it the family to play with. read more

I have worked with Modesto Toyota for over 30 to 40 years and have never been treated like I was this last time. I was working with Ben Nguyen on returning a 2024 Tundra Limited Double cab. It was a leased vehicle that I had to change because I couldn't fit two car seats in the back seat. The truck was like new when it was returned it that was verified by Ben. I told him I needed $5000. He said that was possible but he had to check with someone else. When he returned he said how about $4900. I yes that would work. We shook hands and agreed. He said he would call me in about two weeks when he got the check. I said that was fine. He text me when the check arrived. I went to pick it up.He came out, with I can only imagine was a body guard. He handed me an envelope with a check in it. I did not open the envelope until I got home because I trusted that there wasn't a problem. That is when I found out that the check was for only $1997. not the $4900 we agreed to. He first said that I was wrong but when I reminded him that my wife was there he changed his story and said his boss changed what we agreed to, not him. He is the only person I spoke with. I far as I am concerned, we shook hands and had a agreement. He is nothing but a lier, thief and a coward. Don't trust him he will screw you. Sooooo, I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a vehicle from Modesto Toyota. If you call it pleasurable! My sales associates were good Walter and Luis. Even the guy (sorry I don't remember his name) that I signed the papers with was excellent! My problem is with the manager. He was arrogant and smug. First he did want to use the bank I was pre approved with for my loan! He kept beating around the bush coming up with lame ass excuses on why he could not use them! Finally, it took me calling my bank and verifying everything was ok and all they had to do was use the reference number and I was set! Even after I gave him this information he still tried to tell me they could not use that loan. Ughhhh!!! Once I got home I realized that I had 3 alarm remotes and only 1 key for the ignition. I called all week trying to see about another key! I was told I would get a call back that they had to talk to the manager. I never received that call. Finally, on my last attempt to see what was going on, Modesto Toyota told me my best bet is to go to Chevy dealership and have a $400 key made. Not sure how this location gets good reviews. The selection of cars on the lot is terrible, and most of the sellers don't know anything about the cars they do have. As for the service department, they are terrible. Took my car in for its first "free" service. I guess they changed my oil, although I have no proof, as the only thing I received is the breakdown of the cost. Actually, I don't have proof they did anything on my car at all. What I do know, for sure, is that my service should have included a tire rotation, which was not done. Really easy to tell, since the front wheels have more brake dust on them. So, if the tires were rotated, they would have been on the rear. There were also big oily handprints all over my hood and my driver side door. Extremely easy to see on a black car. I also keep receiving emails from them stating that I have not brought my car in since I bought it, but yet I get Carfax reports that show when my next oil change should be. I'm currently looking for another place to take my car for service that has professional people working there that pay attention to detail and actually perform the work the car is brought in for. read more

The service department has always seemed organized. There's TVs, lots of comfy chairs and customizable coffee and tea. There's vending machines and clean restrooms while you wait. I do hate that an oil change and tire rotation takes 1.5hrs (sometimes 2 if they're busy.). But there is complimentary shuttle service. Im also not a fan of the $40 charge for cabin and engine air filters when this is one of the simplest things to change yourself. Do yourself a favor and get one at Pep boys and take a look at your owners manual or watch a YouTube video. There's still lots of supply chain issues so the inventory for vehicles is still quite sad compared to the larger dealerships. read more

We recently bought our 2015 GMC Sierra truck from here. Her name is Ingur and we adore her. We'd been looking into purchasing a truck for awhile. With the uneven rocky road leading to our place, our many off-road backpacking treks, and all of our recent wood-heavy endeavors - we knew it was time to invest in one. We scoured the internet for weeks searching for "the one". One day we happened to see 2 different vehicles that fit our criteria. Both were reasonably priced and located at Modesto Toyota. We called them up and Joseph helped us right away. He answered any questions we had about the trucks on the phone and he helped us set-up a follow-up phone call to talk more in depth about both trucks and possible financing options. Leading up to our follow-up call, Joseph was extremely helpful and he even went out of his way to photograph both vehicles, and text the photos to us; being mindful enough to point out any small little scratches etc that were on either vehicle. Using Joseph's info and clear photographs as a guide - we set-up an in person appointment with Joseph to test-drive the trucks. The day of our in-person meeting - he was masked up and personable. We never felt pressured throughout our visit and he was quick to get us set-up with a number of different trucks to drive around the space. Even though he was dealing with other clients during our time at the dealership - Joseph was wonderful at making us feel like a priority. My husband and I both knew which truck was our favorite- but it was great to have the freedom to check out some of the other trucks on the lot. When we finally made our decision - Joseph and his manager helped us secure a deal that made sense for both respective parties. They even helped us get the truck to our place (since I am not comfortable on the road). Throughout our time at this dealership - my husband and I felt relaxed and enjoyed Joseph's genuine energy. Inside the dealership - the interior was clean - equipped with vending machines, complimentary coffee, and it had well maintained bathrooms.
