I have baught a vehicle from here and been here a couple times for service . Out of the 3 times I went 2 were great and 1 was horrible. But glad I gave them another chance after my bad experience, because they were helpful and not to mention the only toyota dealership in modesto witch is sometimes needed for special repairs for prius and other vehicles you just may want manufacturers parts and works ect . Hopefully service continues to get better and they continue to communicate and negotiate and work with who they can when they can . Had a 3:00pm appointment to do an easy oil change and oil filter change. That is it! 30 minutes total it should take to do an oil change. I arrived 15 minutes early and they took my truck back at 2:45pm. It was 4:25pm when I finally walked up to the Service Department counter and asked what the delay is and why it's taking so long. The Service employee said she would check on my truck. She comes back 5 minutes later and says they haven't even started service on my truck! I been waiting an 1 hour and 45 minutes total so far and was told it was going to take at least another hour to do an easy oil change! Lmfao. Worst experience ever at this dealership. A Regional Manager needs to come in and clean house on their business model at this location. What's the point of having an appointment if a 30 minute oil change turns into almost a 3 hour job? Modesto Toyota was eager to help us buy a new 2024 Grand Highlander and encouraging in the purchase of the extra warranty plan. They also promised a second key fab in 3-4 months. Unfortunately, we foolishly believed the warranty would cover things like the windshield that got a ding or the repair of the undercarriage after something torn the underneath felt in just the first few months. Nope - the extra coverage we bought does nothing. (Again - shame us to believe a dealership.). Also just called 5 months into having the car trying to get our second fab only to be told they won't come in until the end of 2024 - almost a year after buying our car. So just 1 key for at least a year and no one bothered to be upfront about that to us. Great car but dealerships are dealerships so a friendly reminder to know you are just another sucker to make money off of. Again - shame on us for thinking this place would be any different - just hoping other people lower their expectations so you don't feel sucker punched. It's a pretty bad feeling. read more

We were so impressed with how well informed our salesman Chris was that we felt confident enough to pick up a new hybrid vehicle that night. Chris was able to tell us about the differences between each hybrid and he thoroughly explained about all the optional equipment as well as about what our financing options were. On October 19th, my 75 year old grandmother went in hoping to find a car that she could rely on... quickly she was persuaded by Ricardo and his manager, about a Dodge Journey. It was nice and my grandmother took a test drive and fell in love, little did we know she was gonna have problems with the car not even 30 days off the lot. She drives back and forth to the Bay Area for work everyday, she has to put air in the tire almost every 3 days and now the check engine light is on. We take it to go get checked and it's popping up as catalytic converter, which makes no sense. She doesn't deserve this we called and called and nobody has returned her phone calls. So disappointing, we should have read the reviews first and we definitely would have went somewhere else. They have a rude awakening coming, definitely it the family to play with. read more

I have worked with Modesto Toyota for over 30 to 40 years and have never been treated like I was this last time. I was working with Ben Nguyen on returning a 2024 Tundra Limited Double cab. It was a leased vehicle that I had to change because I couldn't fit two car seats in the back seat. The truck was like new when it was returned it that was verified by Ben. I told him I needed $5000. He said that was possible but he had to check with someone else. When he returned he said how about $4900. I yes that would work. We shook hands and agreed. He said he would call me in about two weeks when he got the check. I said that was fine. He text me when the check arrived. I went to pick it up.He came out, with I can only imagine was a body guard. He handed me an envelope with a check in it. I did not open the envelope until I got home because I trusted that there wasn't a problem. That is when I found out that the check was for only $1997. not the $4900 we agreed to. He first said that I was wrong but when I reminded him that my wife was there he changed his story and said his boss changed what we agreed to, not him. He is the only person I spoke with. I far as I am concerned, we shook hands and had a agreement. He is nothing but a lier, thief and a coward. Don't trust him he will screw you. I hope your family sees this, so they know what kind of morals you have. All for a couple dollars. I pity you. read more

Not sure how this location gets good reviews. The selection of cars on the lot is terrible, and most of the sellers don't know anything about the cars they do have. As for the service department, they are terrible. Took my car in for its first "free" service. I guess they changed my oil, although I have no proof, as the only thing I received is the breakdown of the cost. Actually, I don't have proof they did anything on my car at all. What I do know, for sure, is that my service should have included a tire rotation, which was not done. Really easy to tell, since the front wheels have more brake dust on them. So, if the tires were rotated, they would have been on the rear. There were also big oily handprints all over my hood and my driver side door. Extremely easy to see on a black car. I also keep receiving emails from them stating that I have not brought my car in since I bought it, but yet I get Carfax reports that show when my next oil change should be. I'm currently looking for another place to take my car for service that has professional people working there that pay attention to detail and actually perform the work the car is brought in for. read more

Sooooo, I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a vehicle from Modesto Toyota. If you call it pleasurable! My sales associates were good Walter and Luis. Even the guy (sorry I don't remember his name) that I signed the papers with was excellent! My problem is with the manager. He was arrogant and smug. First he did want to use the bank I was pre approved with for my loan! He kept beating around the bush coming up with lame ass excuses on why he could not use them! Finally, it took me calling my bank and verifying everything was ok and all they had to do was use the reference number and I was set! Even after I gave him this information he still tried to tell me they could not use that loan. Ughhhh!!! Once I got home I realized that I had 3 alarm remotes and only 1 key for the ignition. I called all week trying to see about another key! I was told I would get a call back that they had to talk to the manager. I never received that call. Finally, on my last attempt to see what was going on, Modesto Toyota told me my best bet is to go to Chevy dealership and have a $400 key made. I'm sorry I just spent 30K with you and you can't even have a key made! ‍ I will never purchase another vehicle from Modest Toyota and I hope after reading this YOU will not either!!!! read more

Horrible. Tacoma was recalled for failing paint. Over 5 hour round trip for me - and my wife suffers dementia. Everything I do must have advance planning. That is why I made absolutely sure with the lady who I set my appointment with exactly what to expect: Drop truck off and they would have a loaner ready for me. NOT THE CASE at all! The service department has always seemed organized. There's TVs, lots of comfy chairs and customizable coffee and tea. There's vending machines and clean restrooms while you wait. I do hate that an oil change and tire rotation takes 1.5hrs (sometimes 2 if they're busy.). But there is complimentary shuttle service. Im also not a fan of the $40 charge for cabin and engine air filters when this is one of the simplest things to change yourself. Do yourself a favor and get one at Pep boys and take a look at your owners manual or watch a YouTube video. There's still lots of supply chain issues so the inventory for vehicles is still quite sad compared to the larger dealerships. read more

Chris stayed in touch and made the buying experience very comfortable. He did not push extra items and is very true to his word. This is my third time out here and every time I've had a great experience. The check-in people are friendly and knowledgeable. Their wifi wasn't very reliable the first time I came here and so I haven't used it since but they got Peet's coffee for customers which is an incentive to get here early. They're estimated wait time is usually accurate and I believe they do offer shuttle services, but I've never used them. I just bring my laptop and work from their waiting room. Talking about their waiting room they do have 4 large TVs for people to keep themselves entertained or additional seating tables next to their vehicle showroom if you'd like a bit more privacy. I bought a Highlander on Friday the 12. The car began to give problems. There were a bunch of glass over the car. One of the managers literally called a liar. He said that there was no possible way the car most likely got vandalized when I had it, I couldn't have changed all the glasses in two days (over the weekend. ) I found out that they had changed most of the windows, including the windshield. When I purchased the Highlander, the guy was supposed give me the car and I saw him with my car then he disappeared for like 20 mins until I checked with a manager, said that he has been waiting for me eventhough I'd said he wasn't there. Then they called him and he came telling that he needed to do something to my car. Now I wonder what he needed to do. They gave me the SUV super dirty and they were that it was not true that they always clean them and that they never changed any windows on that car. I found out of all the cars because I saw a lot of trash in between one the seats and the back rest, I began cleaning it and got cut with a glass. When I went for all the issues I was having on Monday the 15th, that's when everyone was treating me like trash and like a liar. Supposedly, they checked and detailed the car, but when I checked it, the car still had the glass there. They had my car from 1 to 6 pm. When I got the receipt of the maintenance, I noticed they put that the color of the car is Gold, my car has nothing gold in it; it is Amber, (black/brown). read more

We recently bought our 2015 GMC Sierra truck from here. Her name is Ingur and we adore her. We'd been looking into purchasing a truck for awhile. With the uneven rocky road leading to our place, our many off-road backpacking treks, and all of our recent wood-heavy endeavors - we knew it was time to invest in one. We scoured the internet for weeks searching for "the one". One day we happened to see 2 different vehicles that fit our criteria. Both were reasonably priced and located at Modesto Toyota. We called them up and Joseph helped us right away. He answered any questions we had about the trucks on the phone and he helped us set-up a follow-up phone call to talk more in depth about both trucks and possible financing options. Leading up to our follow-up call, Joseph was extremely helpful and he even went out of his way to photograph both vehicles, and text the photos to us; being mindful enough to point out any small little scratches etc that were on either vehicle. Using Joseph's info and clear photographs as a guide - we set-up an in person appointment with Joseph to test-drive the trucks. The day of our in-person meeting - he was masked up and personable. We never felt pressured throughout our visit and he was quick to get us set-up with a number of different trucks to drive around the space. Even though he was dealing with other clients during our time at the dealership - Joseph was wonderful at making us feel like a priority. My husband and I both knew which truck was our favorite- but it was great to have the freedom to check out some of the other trucks on the lot. When we finally made our decision - Joseph and his manager helped us secure a deal that made sense for both respective parties. They even helped us get the truck to our place (since I am not comfortable on the road). Throughout our time at this dealership - my husband and I felt relaxed and enjoyed Joseph's genuine energy. My wife and I both own toyotas, she has a 2019 Rav4 with 62k miles on it. Last night backing out of the garage the Check Engine light came on. I have a cheap OB2 diagnostic tool and read it was a P26CB error. So we decide to take it to modesto toyota, wife called and they said they have an 11:20 appointment open so she dropped it off at that time . I recieved texts and email from Noah and in the email was a check status button. So here we are 3 hrs later no call text email nothing from Noah. So I pressed the status button it didn't do anything . Approx 4 frickin hrs still no update. So I had to call them and Noah was on the phone and couldn't talk to me. Then and only then I recieved a text from Noah. The frustrating part of this ordeal was the lack of communication on Modesto Toyotas end. I got a notice in the mail recently talking about an extended warranty for peeling paint, so I call to schedule them to look at my car since it has started to show the peeling paint. Modesto Toyota spilled oil all over engine bay, on hoses, belts, wires, the skid plate running through the hollow frame and seeping out of the holes onto LCA. Unbelievably bad and unacceptable, looks like they wiped it down to hide their mistakes (didn't notice until next morning when oil was all over my driveway). They also deleted my vehicle "trip" information without any permission and I have information I was gathering from both trip A and B and was very unhappy.
