Same issue: Scheduled an oil change for 8:40 am and was there for almost 3 hours. I had an appointment! I asked what the point was to make an appointment then and they said it guaranteed the work would be done that day. Huh? It was an oil change - I came in early morning. Why would they think it is acceptable for anyone to spend all day to get an oil change done? It is up to them to schedule the appropriate amount of people to handle the appointments that they have made. If they don't have capacity that day, then don't schedule an appointment. Modesto Toyota is a no-nonsense dealer that does not waste your time or play games, unlike other dealers. In fact, they saved me a lot of time. I was in and out of the dealership in around 1.5 hours including all paperwork processes. This has to be a new record. Elliott was also extremely diligent in keeping me updated on when my vehicle would arrive, expediting the pre-delivery inspection process, and letting me pick it up the same afternoon it arrived. Maryam also stayed very on top of allocations and called me the moment the vehicle I wanted became allocated so I could put down a deposit. I lived one hour away and they even accommodated my request to arrange for transportation to pick me up. While I didn't need it as I arranged other means, it was a courteous gesture. At the dealership, they were extremely fast and efficient. The signing process is also very easy. They use a high-tech touch screen to sign documents instead of old paper and pen. This review is not for sales--I bought my Camry brand new 3 years ago and had an amazing experience with the sales department. Service department is horrible. The people that work there are great, they let you know everything, text you when your vehicle is finished, they're always nice... but in 3 years, I've never had my oil changed in under 2 hours. I make an appointment. I show up on time--but it's always been no less than a 2 hour wait. (Even for the services where they don't even change the oil!) Today was no different, a Tuesday in the middle of the week. Not a first thing in the morning appointment or an end of the day appointment during any kind of rush. It's not a labor shortage due to Covid. This has been my experience every 5,000 miles since my first service there in 2019. It isn't me not having an appointment. It's this service department. The wait time makes it painful to do any business with them. I spend 230.00 to have my car serviced and spend 1/4 of my work day in their lobby. Meanwhile, I can run my other vehicle across the street to their quick service & be in & out in 40 min or less. I won't ever buy another Toyota in this town just so I don't have to deal with their over-stretched service department again. Time to start paying attention to the countless reviews just like mine & invest in a few more oil change stations modesto Toyota. UPDATE: While I was there yesterday--I was told my tires were completely bald and need to be replaced. Then that they were rotated so the tires with more tread were on the front of the car. NOPE! I checked them myself and took them to my tire shop, where I was told they are fine. One of my rims in the back is scratched--and guess what? It was in the same spot. So my tires were not rotated. I want to give Kevin and Joshua kuddos for taking care of my wife's Camry. I don't know the history of Modesto Toyota or their staff as this was my first time there. But in this particular case they handled business and did it the right way. My wife has been taking her car there since she bought it for all services before I knew her. When I went to change the oil the oil filter housing was on there so tight a 1/2 inch impact drill nor a breaker bar could get it off. Took it in, explained the situation and they made it right and topped off the oil & provided a new housing considering it was tightened down so bad it was cracked. Unfortunately in today's society you're uncertain if a place will make things right despite them being the last one's to service/touch your vehicle. In this situation that was not the case. We found a Highlander Hybrid we liked, and tho it was a $50k SUV I liked all the extras. A salesman, Hipolito, couldn't wait for us to come see/drive it. We live in North Stockton,a 50 minute drive. We hurried, and left to see it. 10 minutes from the dealership, we get called by Hipolito wanting to know when we would arrive. When we arrived he told us he didn't know but the car had been sold. Ticked off because he did not do his due diligence, we left. Nearly 2 hours wasted by him. Today I found a car there that I would buy. But then found out they want a flat $2000 over MSRP for there vehicles. A previous reviewer wrote how greedy the owner is. I think so too. There are several dealers out there with no Premium, or Additional Dealer Markup. Elk Grove Toyota advertises they don't. Tracy Toyota wants $5000 markup. We are still shopping, ready to buy, but not get taken advantage of. read more

Sales is pressured to sell things beyond there capability. The dealership manager carries the water for the owner who own and controls several other dealerships on the McHenry Blvd. Greed is the name of the game here and everything else is just smoke and mirrors. You are not gonna get a good deal from this dealership. Expect to pay over MSRP and then some. Trade In's are a complete waste of time...Your not gonna get anything for your used car...The service center is often over committed with cars needing service and the wait is hurriedness. Scheduled appointments are not timely. Waited two hours today for an oil change. Had an appointment, but it was a good hour plus before they ever started on my vehicle. I got my vehicle back after almost two hours. (just for a scheduled oil change) Toyota Care LOL is often filled with hidden language that is not transparent at the time of purchase of a new vehicle. The service department is not friendly. Yes they listen to your concerns and feedback but they act like zombies. They are either over worked or all on drugs. Know body smiles, no greeting, no casual talk, just robot mode. Blank stares and all business. New Trucks and cars currently at this dealership are in short supply. That blame falls on the Covic 19 supply chain event. Used cars and trucks on the grounds are way over priced. Again , much of that is because of the Covic 19 event and supply and demand issues. To really summarize this review, this dealership is just not properly run. The fault is of the upper management and owner. Y'all might think I'm nuts, but I bought a RAV4 prime from Modesto and I do t live anywhere near Modesto. Not even remotely near a neighboring state!! But they had the car I wanted and was willing to work with me to get the car to me. The communication was spot on; there were frequent updates and Sal told me exactly what I had to do, when, and how. The credit union who wired the money thought I was in some syndicated crime deal (LOL) but we all had a good laugh after I explained the whole situation and raved about the service. If I had to do it again, I'd just do one thing different: ask for the MCO / COO to be FedEx'ed to me as soon as the car was picked up by the shipping company. Let me start by saying that Modesto Toyota is a dishonest car dealership, and you should NOT do any business with them. They will not give you a fair deal. You will soon discover how many dishonest tricks and deceptions they played on you. Modesto Toyota used baling wire wrapped around the oil drain bolt to keep it in place because the oil drain pan nut was stripped out, and there was no other way to keep the drain plug bolt tight unless you did the proper thing and replaced the oil pan, which you did not. With my first free oil change, you want me to pay for the stripped-out oil pan. I just bought this car, and you were the last to perform all maintenance and services as part of your "Certified Used Car." Modesto Toyota is too dishonest and cheap to replace the car's stripped-out oil drain pan with a new one. Only one of the two key fobs works; the other is useless. You tell me, just put in a new battery, and it will work. I replaced the battery, which still does not work; it will never work as it is broken. Again, you are a dishonest car dealership. In your Carfax Report, you failed to report that the car was in a previous car accident in the front end, making the brakes, bearings, and rotors wear out more than usual. You cover all the holes in the car carpets with sticky pads and car carpet liners and mats to hide the carpet problems in a "Toyota Certified Used Car." This past Tuesday 4/2/24 my husband took me to Modesto Toyota to look at and test drive a hybrid RAV 4. Chris helped us my husband went on a test drive earlier that day with Chris. I want to say I personally don't like the "sales pitch" type for any purchases we make. As I was checking out the car my husband was relaying all the info he had received from Chris earlier that day. Chris is a very charismatic young man zero sales pitchy. My husband asked for me to test drive it. Chris caught on pretty quick I wasn't really wanting to do the whole "test drive" thing. He suggested I just take it for a spin in the parking lot. It was perfect to get a feel for the car it was quite comfortable for me to drive. Chris genuinely just was an "infornation" plug zero pressure. He noticed after the test drive my husband and I needed to "talk". He immediately excused himself to give us privacy. My husband and I went through the list of pros/cons of the vehicle. At this point my husband seemed confident this was the vehicle he wanted. We gave Chris the green light and entered phase 2 the "room". The entire experience with Chris was no pressure, laid back, talking, joking, bantering and alot of laughing. We learned he loved his job, working with people and playing sports. He shared personal stories about his wife and daughter Hazel. He was just a down to earth, easy going, hard working guy. He made the process E-A-S-Y! Once we gave our personal info and started the process it went to the hands of the "Manager". This is my reason for 4 stars. Chris alone would receive 5 stars. So the "Manager" I remember shaking his hand but did not catch his name. He placed a paper down with three options of payments. We looked them over and it was slightly more than what we were comfortable with. We attempted to maintain the lighthearted feel and tried to joke around and banter with him. Nope. He remained unamused with us ZERO personality. We asked if there was any wiggle room in the sticker price for us to be comfortable with our monthly payment. He basically said No and we could put more money down to decrease the payment. We were already putting down probably close to 40% of the sticker price. I was getting irritated and stopped talking. I was over this guy. When he left the room I looked at my husband and said maybe this isn't the right time. We have two running cars we don't have to get one today. He said I think you are right maybe we should wait another year. Chris re-entered and immediately sensed a shift in the vibe of the room. I let him know we would prefer not to deal with the "Manager" anymore. Chris could sense we were ready to walk. Chris also knew the hybrid RAV 4 is a highly sought after car that pretty much sells itself. Even knowing that he looked at us and said tell me what we need to do to get you comfortable to get you into this car? We appreciated this and laid out our cards. We were just honest with him. Chris grabbed the yellow sheet off the table and said let me see what I can do. He came back with a finalized letterhead with two offers. One was EXACTLY what we wanted and we were all very happy. We needed our check book for the down payment. Do you know Chris was willing to drive to our house to grab the check to avoid us having to drive back to Toyota? Talk about Customer Service! We then entered phase 3 the FiNAL room!!! We extended the car warranty and signed ALL the paperwork. When I tell you technology has come up since we bought my car in 2011!!! We signed our paperwork with an electonic pen on this mans glass desk! He also gets 5 stars super nice. Great stories and he made a very easy and comfortable environment. He was honest and went over everything making sure all of our questions were answered. As we left his office do you know Chris was still there well past closing to make sure to get my husbands app set up, detail the car, extra key FOB etc. We LOVE Modesto Toyota. When I made my appointment I was told that all employees and customers were required to wear masks. When I arrived there were two service advisors with masks under their chin and one with it under their nose. Talking, laughing and spewing their disgusting stuff all over the place. There was a guy in a button up shirt who looked like some kind of sales person walking around with his mask under his chin. I stood outside watching for 10 minutes and it was clear that this unsafe behavior was the norm not the exception. If this is how the front line workers behave I am certain the back of house people (mechanics and such) are absolutely not following safe covid protocols.
