I have gone to Modoo Teriyaki for a long time and the food and service has always been wonderful. Last night I picked up a combination of teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef. The chicken was terrible. We could not eat it as it was so overdone and dry. Threw it out. The beef was good and always has been good. I am disappointed. Will try some other places as order overpriced and not good. read more

I feel like I'm a pretty big critic when it comes to quality of teriyaki and this place blew me away. My girlfriend and I decided to stop in after we finished our shopping at Fred Meyer and we dined in the restaurant and I noticed a ton of people picking up to go orders and it seemed like a very popular place . When we got our food we had very nice size portions and our spicy chicken and beef was both cooked perfectly , the beef melted in my mouth! This is probably the best cheapest Teriyaki joint in Puyallup. I loved the char they had on their teriyaki chicken. Simply delicious. I ordered a Thai Tea as well which seemed watered down. I used to work at a Vietnamese restaurant and their Thai Tea had more flavor but really that is my only complaint. Chicken Teriyaki - Chicken was average, somewhat dry with little sauce on it. I asked for extra sauce to be put on the rice and it was a pasty brown teriyaki sauce that did not taste very good. Chicken Pad Thai - My wife did not like hers. Dry tasting. Usually we don't toss out left overs(take out order) but she did not want the remainder 75% of her order Gyoza - Was of normal standard, with sauce. Spring Rolls were not very fresh tasting,only ate half of them. The lady was friendly at the counter. The young male had an attitude even though not directed at me it still was not a good impression. We really enjoyed our meal last night. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and my husband orderes general tao, service was great. As others have mentioned the portions are huge. In fact after eating what we could our take home boxes were filled to the top as though we hadn't taken a bite. Also, side fact our 10 month son loved the lady serving us. Food is yummy! My favorite is the chicken phad thai. My family loves the chicken teriyaki, sweet and sour chicken, yakisoba, and gyoza. The service is friendly and efficient. I am partially deaf in one ear and I didn't hear what she said so I asked her to please repeat herself and she practically screamed "Oh my god I asked you three times!" I am a very sensitive person and this was too much for me, I was in shock. Never returning here again. The food is not consistent; on a good day - it is very good -- on a bad day, NASTY! On those nasty days, the meat is dry -- very dry and tough to eat. Today, was a bad day, the worst. I will not be going back there! Although this restaurant is close, there are far too many teriyaki restaurants around to go back. Nailbanger Here Again;Well as you can see there are mixed reviews with Modoo Teriyaki and I will play the devil advocate here as I think their Teriyaki is just Blah Blah. Never anything but very thin sliced hardly grilled meat,with sauce poured over the top. I prefer thicker pieces and grilled with the sauce during the process. Nothing but meat /sauce /rice,in a dish.very Plain Jane. They do offer other thing that I think might be a better choice.I am just not a Fan of Modo.Some people like my youngest son just rave about this place, they have their followers. Usually we went to the modoo teriyaki in Orting but today we were at the mall and decided to make a quick stop over the one in Puyallup. Service is very friendly, although we were getting to go, the lady was very helpful. She asked if we want to sit down and gave us an actual menu to read. The food is very good as always. Gosh I hate to write this review because more of you will find this gem. It is my favorite Teriyaki/WOK restaurant around and it is small and does not hold many folks. Service fast and friendly, food very tasty and flavorful and plenty of it. Comes with soup and most dishes have two scopes of white rice. Chile, teriyaki, soy sauce always on table to spice things up more if you want. I usually order General Tso dinner. The chunks of chicken are good size, not tidbits like other places. The are fried crispy but not hard and drenched in a wonderful sauce Spicy but not too hot, The plate is HEAPED with chicken and two scopes of rice.. ,I eat half, waddle out the door with the other half in a box for tomorrow. Like another person mentioned, My kids are huge fans too ! The place is very clean and they are very fast . I like the price too. I can feed my whole family of 4 for 20.00 with a tip and every one is happy and full when we leave. The staff is very friendly and honor you as a customer there with respect. I've been here 3 times. Not impressed. The first time I went, I ordered a fountain drink. I noticed the waitress walk over to the cooler in the dining area (that customers can reach in and get bottled drinks from) and pull out a glass of soda that was being stored on the bottom of the cooler. I thought maybe the fountain machine (behind the register) was out of order and they were using a soda machine from the back and prefilling glasses with soda and sticking them in the cooler for their convenience. Even that was appalling to me because anyone can open that cooler and get drinks out and maybe cough/sneeze in a lidless drink being stored on the bottom. BUT NOPE. It got worse... The waitress walked over to the fountain drink machine and topped off my soda... It was working fine... which means it was likely saved from a previous diner's table as an effort to save money. Yes, they tried to give me a used glass of soda. We don't get drinks there anymore. Also, if you get the beef with broccoli make sure you wanted teriyaki beef. It's very sweet. read more

Went to have a Saturday night Teriyaki with wife and kids. All around this was horrible. Let me explain - this is our third time here. The first two times were also disappointing but we always like to give people a second (sometimes third!) chance. This time however was the last straw. Everyone's food was the same: cold. Now, I don't mean not steaming hot. I mean literally I could feel no warmth in the fried rice, steamed rice or the chicken. The only thing that has any warmth was the teriyaki sauce on the chicken! We decided not to take a chance at food poisoning - especially with the kids - so I let them know I wanted my check and we were leaving. I explained why. At first she started making excuses that maybe it was just the sauce (funny since that was the ONLY thing on any of our plates that was warm!). Then she said something like "I saw them cooking it with my own eyes" and I knew right then - this was a normal thing. Very bad. Very dangerous to server food like this. Especially to children. The only reason we ended up here was because Takara Teriyaki across the parking lot was full so we decided to try this again. Takara is far superior. As in, you will have to wait for your food to cool down just to take a bite and you want to meal to never end. Modoo needs to emulate what they are doing. Do not eat here. read more
