Picking up the takeout was easy. There were easily recognizable signs on which entrance to use for pick up. There are also ample parking. Street parking in the front and a large parking lot in the back. I ordered two rolls thinking that would be enough for a dinner for one but it was not. It looked impressive in the box as they're somewhat laid and layered. However, each piece was the width of the chopstick, very thin. The rice was also undercooked and crunchy. It was just not a great experience.

I've been coming to Trapper's since 2019 and have always loved the food, atmosphere, and my two go-to rolls: the Vader and the Barricade. I've even attended one of their anniversary events, including the tuna carving hosted by the owner at the Bonney Lake location in 2025, which was an awesome experience. Unfortunately, the Puyallup location has been a completely different story. The last two times I've visited, the service has been incredibly disappointing. Honestly, the host seemed to do more work than our server. On my most recent visit, ingredients were missing from a sushi roll that I've ordered for years and know by heart. When I politely brought it up, the server insisted the ingredients were there, despite them clearly not being included, and then walked away without attempting to resolve the issue. Beyond that, there was virtually no interaction throughout the meal. We spent most of our visit trying to track down our server, who appeared to be actively avoiding our table. I don't remember her name, but she works on the bar side and has brown hair with bangs. As someone who worked in the service industry for nearly a decade, I have a lot of empathy for restaurant staff. I understand that everyone has off days and that busy shifts happen. However, this restaurant was nearly empty, and there was no excuse for the level of service we received. To be clear, I've only experienced these issues on the bar side of the Puyallup location. I truly hope management addresses it because it's a stark contrast from the experiences I've had at other Trapper's locations. Sadly, after multiple disappointing visits, I won't be returning to this location.

Service here is absolutely terrible. It took 10 minutes for me to be seated and have anyone talk to me. Customers were just awkwardly gathered at the entrance wondering if anyone was actually going to greet/seat us. They said they were going to "find me a seat" in an almost empty restaurant as if it was slammed. Waitress said she would come right back and didn't. I ordered 3 items and only two arrived. Zero drink refills were offered, I had an empty glass of water the majority of my stay. I wanted to order a drink and nobody was around. My server repeatedly kept calling me "baby" which was weird and uncomfortable since I'm a middle-aged woman. I wanted to leave so bad but I had already ordered and had to commit. As I was checking out, she said "You were my easiest customer today." Yeah, because you didn't actually give me any service and disappeared? I've been to Trapper's in Tolleson, AZ and they had the SAME issues. Seems to be a company-wide situation because I've never had good service here. The fish itself was very good and tasted fresh. I'm visiting from out of town for work and planned to get sushi a few times during my stay but I will be going elsewhere since this was such a disappointing experience.

Salmon Skin and the Mr. Charlie

Amazing Sushi, Stellar Presentation... but a Loyalty-Points Plot Twist We stopped in for happy hour at Trapper's Sushi and honestly, the food delivered exactly what we came for. The Salmon Skin Roll and Mr. Charlie were absolute standouts -- presentation on point, flavors bold and balanced, the kind of rolls that make you pause mid‑bite just to appreciate the craft. And of course, you can never go wrong pairing it all with an ice‑cold Kirin Ichiban. That beer just gets along with everything. Service at the bar was smooth, friendly, and quick -- no complaints there. But here's the curveball: Even though we were ordering during happy hour and in the bar, we were told afterward that we don't earn points on happy hour purchases. That was never mentioned upfront, and nothing on the menu or signage hinted at it. For a place that pushes its rewards program, that feels like something guests should know before ordering. It's not a dealbreaker -- the food is still fantastic -- but it's definitely something management should clarify. A simple note on the menu or a quick heads‑up from staff would go a long way. Overall, great food, great drinks, great vibes... just wishing the loyalty program rules were a little clearer.

Always good service and the sushi chefs are always on it. We go to the all you can eat lunch. We usually don't get more than 3 rolls, not sure if we are getting our moneys worth, also includes appetizers!

I am back in the area and of course I had to visit my most favorite sushi place. There's a new menu and I love the lunch special. You can now select two half rolls which allows for more variety without over indulging. I love the CEO and Trump. Service is always friendly and timely when in Puyallup. Music is upbeat! Lots of TVs to catch up on sports in the bar too!

First, Devin was absolutely amazing! Even though it was a busy Friday night he maintained professionalism while getting everyone checked in. He had great humor and was a joy to talk to. We did the all you can eat sushi and it was fantastic! Chef Michael's special roll was my absolute amazing!!! Ask for Michael!

The food portions were small, not appetizing, and cured me from going there ever again. It was very disappointing.

They have…read moreincreased their lunch prices since then so just be aware that the menus I posted last year are not the same as this current year. I had gotten their bento lunch special last year and was very happy with the amount of food but did not receive miso soup. They raised this price by $5 and I couldn't really justify that so I decided to get something else. My boyfriend got their sushi roll lunch special last time and in our recent visit and was happy with his choices. I got the sushi rolls lunch specials this time and I wished the rolls had more rice on them as there spots that had no rice at all or it would just come apart. For our rolls, we have tried their Philly roll, shrimp tempura roll, Lion King Roll, and spicy Bay roll. The sushi here is just your average sushi spot. It doesn't really differentiate itself from other places. For example, the spicy bay roll that I got just had a line of sriracha sauce and I was hoping for their own spicy sauce to top it off. The teriyaki was good from what I remembered but again, nothing to really differentiate it from other nearby locations. The service is friendly but they never come back to check on you or refill waters. Even when we were finished, the waitress was watching TV and must have got engrossed in it that she forgot we were there as no take out orders or other customers came in while we were there. They do have a large TV playing sports but no music and the TV was rather quiet. The space is nice but it just felt very dark but we sat next to a window so I could take nice pictures. I think this will be our last visit as there are other locations offer a better dining experience with better service and ambiance.

The staff are friendly and if you go enough, they remember you and ask about how your family or you are doing. We frequently bring our kids and they have chopstick helpers for them. They've made an avocado roll upon request for one of my finicky kiddos. For those that like spicy, ask for any roll to be extra spicy cause it really makes the rolls pop with flavor. We usually come before the dinner rush, as there's mostly bar seating and one bigger group table (party of 8). We feel looked after while we are here and it has us coming back month after month.

Surprisingly was a ghost town, but after I came in a few others sat as well. Was able to be seated immediately and the staff here are all so nice! Both waiters I encountered were super sweet and the waitress was also kind. Lots to choose from on their menu and their lunch special called my name - two rolls to choose from off the menu for $22. Pretty solid, imo. I got the Red Dragon (shrimp tempura, imitation crab, topped with spicy tuna) and the Sex on the Beach (spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with spicy crab and salmon). I will say all of the fish tasted nice and fresh and I enjoyed both rolls. I favored the Sex on the Beach more, the whole roll was just better overall. The Red Dragon had good flavor, but the shrimp tempura tasted more chewy/soggy than it did crispy. Almost kind of stale, so that was a downside to that roll. Overall it's pretty good and I would definitely come back to try more of their menu - the AYCE seems like a solid deal!
