I've been to Moena a few times now, and I can safely say that the food is always of a consistently good quality! Parking: It's in Koko Marina Shopping Center. If you're going for breakfast/brunch, you normally won't have any problems finding parking because many of the other businesses aren't open yet. Waaaaaiting: It's a small restaurant, so the earlier you get there the better. In fact, if you can manage getting there when they open, that's the best! That's why I love going there after a sunrise hike on the east side! Otherwise, you'll have to write your name on their waitlist & stand/sit outside until there's a table available. That wouldn't be so bad except that the rising sun over Hawaii Kai is HOT and there isn't a lot of shade in front of the restaurant. Venue: I really love the quaint decor of the place. Mostly white paint with small bits of accent colors here and there. Their entry way tends to have a bouquet of flowers to greet their guests. The color/decor of the place makes it feel so bright & clean, especially with all the morning/daytime sun shining through all the storefront glass that faces east. Food: Honestly, I've only ever personally ordered their omelets, but I really likes those omelets---not rubbery or burnt, consistent thickness throughout, and the fillings are perfectly cooked! It comes with a nice pineapple wedge, half a strawberry & a choice of white or wheat toast. I especially like the Hawaiian omelet because the kalua pig that they use is always nice and moist! I've tried the dishes of my friends, and I think both the hash and benedicts are also great buys! Next time, I'm pretty sure I'm also going to get an affogato (ice cream + espresso). Well, I've had my yelp account for some time now, but this is the first review I've ever written. So here I go: We got there on a Saturday afternoon at 1200 expecting a long wait. To our surprise there were only 3 parties before ours and we were called in for seating about 15 minutes after signing in. First impression when walking in was a good one. Nice decorations and comfortable seating. Our waitress promptly took our drink order and brought my delicious double Americano quickly. I decided to have the special: short rib loco moco, while the wife had fresh corned beef hash. This is where the restaurant lost me. The short ribs were dry, kept moist by the flavorless gravy, which in itself was not even a half cup. There was no flavor on the meat, it tasted as if they put no seasoning. The best part was the eggs, which you'd have to be pretty bad to mess up. On to the corn beef hash. It consists of onions, potatoes,and fresh corned beef. Personally I would've like to have seen bell peppers in the hash, just to add different flavor. The hash was so so, not even close to what I have tasted in fresh corn beef hash. Real room for improvement. The staff is really great though, attentive and nice. I was asked for a water refill 3 times in 10 Minutes by 3 different servers! I do not dismiss this place though, as we did not try the pancakes and waffles, which they are known for, so we will be back to try those. We stopped by to try Moena Cafe this past weekend. There was a little wait --about 10-15 minutes. The decor is cute and very appealing. The menu looked appetizing- a mix of breakfast foods, sandwiches and salads along with coffee, cappuccinos, and a selection of iced teas. My husband opted for the short rib loco moco. I tried the eggs, bacon and country style potatoes and my 3 year old ordered fried rice and eggs from their keiki meal (really appreciate that they had a keiki meal!) The food was OK. We weren't impressed, especially for the price (our bill came out to $28 and they didn't charge us for drinks, so it should have been higher) I don't think we would eat there again... We would prefer to try something new before going back. However I will say that the owner was really sweet and accommodating and did a great job with the design of the cafe! read more

The crab benedict here is next level. They use real crab, not imitation, and they don't skimp on it either. Prices are on the higher side, but when you consider the quality of the ingredients, not so bad based on what we had. The Cuban Cibatta was tasty, maybe a bit too much pickle, the pulled pork and ham were very flavorful together. The crepe that I had- ham, mushroom, tomato, spinach was very good. A very thin crepe and what seemed like garden fresh veggies. Iced coffee...yes! Can tell that Moena Cafe is still working on start up bumps and staffing. The short ribs were tender, the eggs perfectly cooked, and the rice was well-prepared. My meal was quite good. The salad was more bland and different than expected; the avocado was replaced with beets as they were out, the chicken was a bit chewy. The papayas were unavailable. The restaurant was a bit hard to find, located closer to the water but on the parking lot side. We waited over 30 minutes, and the service was slow. However, the staff was very nice and attentive. The food is good overall, but the service is really unusual - they do not seat you as tables become available, but only at specific times or when a certain number of tables are open. Our waitress seated a party of 7, a party of 2 (myself and another), and a party of one. She then got the order from the large party (it took 10 minutes), while they were the last seated. The orders from my party took under a minute and the single dude got his "regular". Just a really weird system for seating people and taking orders. After tackling Kokohead trail, Moena Cafe was the perfect post hike treat. Their new lilikoi pancake caught my eye, and the syrup had an intriguingly tangy twist, definitely more sour than expected, but I actually loved it that way. The real star, though, was the crab eggs benedict. It exceeded my expectations with its rich, flavorful crab and perfectly balanced hollandaise, such a true match made in brunch heaven. I loved this place! So charming and bright. It is a lovely place for breakfast or brunch. I love the color scheme and decor. Modern and simple. The food was awesome! Great scones. The obvious pros to this place are the delicious menu choices. From the fresh corned beef hash and eggs to the Kalua pig Benedict to the strawberry and milk pancakes to the banana Chantilly pancakes, I could go on and on! I got a carrot cake scone to go once I got a recommendation from the lady next to me at the counter. This turned out to be pretty yummy as well. Visiting from San Francisco with friends and had awesome omlettes this morning at Moena Cafe. We were so happy that we didn't have to drive into town, as our vacation home is right across the street from this shopping center. It's new and clean and the service was excellent. I actually really liked this place. The food was good and the service was nice, polite and helpful...until the little roach crawled out from under my plate AFTER I was done eating. I understand they can't always control that kind of stuff but still, it was a bit disturbing. I'll probably go back but not too soon. read more

Of course my wife ordered the famous lilikoi pancakes- they were light and fluffy and topped with an amazing passion fruit sauce 10/10! I don't normally eat a short stack of pancakes, but that lilikoi sauce was fire!!! I ordered the moké nui omelette- it had bacon, ham, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and cheese! It was very hearty! And the hashbrowns were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (just the way I like it). My kids shared the sunrise breakfast- (2) pancakes, (2) eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast! Overall, we had an absolute divine dining experience! If we ever come back to the island (which we will), this will definitely be on our list of places to revisit. Mahalo!

Noticeably smaller. There was still plenty enough to split between 3 people, but when I compared our portion to several tables around us, felt like we were gypped. Cons- this place can get really busy depending on when you go. It could also be far, depending on where you are staying too.

Loco moco gravy is top notch, hamburger was good and the egg was sunny side up on cauliflower rice. Kamalu bowl is tasty with the different textures. Thick bacon, not too salty, had boiled egg with everything bagel seasoning, creamy avocado, and salsa.

I got a Double Teriyaki Burger for $10...can't beat that price. Excellent. Walked in and ordered takeaway...waited around 10-12 minutes. I just grabbed a macchiato from ARS Cafe, so that was fine by me. The have combos which include fries and a canned drink for an additional $4. They are on the corner of Monsarrat and Kanaina Ave. A small parking lot is adjacent to their unit - accessible via Kanaina Ave.

One of the biggest surprises is that this is the only Liliha Bakery location with Happy Hour! From 3-6 PM, they have 50% off selected beers and cocktails, plus around 20-25% off some of their signature steak and prime rib dishes. Definitely a nice little Waikiki deal if you time it right. Another thing I love is that you can order breakfast, lunch, or dinner all day, so of course our table was all over the place. We had the smoked pork belly with eggs, cheeseburger deluxe with a fried chicken add-on, mushroom chicken, and the prime rib with lobster. Everything came out hot and the portions were generous. The prime rib and lobster was definitely one of my favorites, but that fried chicken add-on to the burger is a nice little hack if you want to try more than one thing. Service was friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was busy, and the atmosphere feels bright, casual, and comfortable. Being right at Waikiki Beach Walk also makes it a convenient spot to grab a meal before or after walking around Waikiki. And of course... you cannot go to Liliha Bakery and leave without dessert! We finished with their famous Coco Puffs and mochi donuts. The Coco Puffs are still a must for me! Overall, I really like what they did with this new location. You still get the familiar Liliha Bakery comfort food, but with the Waikiki location, Happy Hour specials, and all-day menu, there are a few extra reasons to check this one out.
