Did not think this place would be what I thought, but wow! Everything was sooo good and tasty. My favorite sides were honestly everything. My fav has to be the onion rings, potato salad, Shepards pie. The Mac was a little disappointing but how can you not get Mac and cheese when you get to a BBQ place? Still good! There wasn't anything I disliked and I'm not even that big of a BBQ fan. MY favorite dish was the fried catfish, mainly because I like fish and tend to stay away from meats. The fried catfish was so light, airy, and JUICY! I cannot believe how good the fish was coming from a BBQ joint. They did not disappoint and the price is unbeatable. This restaurant is located on the main drag of Orange Beach across the street from the beach. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Not a big place but a lot of folks were doing take out. It was busy the entire time we were there because the food is so good and relatively reasonable prices. They have a variety of home cooked foods, fried chicken, BBQ, so many sides. All food was good and staff friendly. I had chicken tenders that were very good and my hubby had the BBQ, it too was delicious. For sides we had the baked beans, Mac and Cheese potato salad and banana pudding (odd, but that is one of your side options). All sides were good but I was dissapointed in the banana pudding. It did not have real bananas in it and just tasted like box banana pudding. But otherwise all was good with good service, good food and easy parking. read more

We are visiting Orange Beach from out of state. Reviews on Yelp for Moe's were good, so we decided to try it out. I thought it was great - my husband and I shared the Sampler Platter. It filled us up & we had leftovers. The meat had a good flavor and tasted fresh. It is a casual atmosphere with a huge outside seating area. Cute decor on the walls. If I was only rating the sandwich, I would give it five stars. My smoked turkey sandwich with pimento spread was divine!!!! But everything else was nearly below average. All the sides tried were just ok. And the pimento and chips were just ok. If I lived around here, I'd definitely come back here for the sandwich, but that's about it. read more

How good it was to eat at Moe's! Our family of four was pleasantly surprised with how good the smoked turkey, smoked sausage, shrimp, dry rub chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, beans, pudding, and hushpuppies were. Basically everything we ordered was outstanding with flavor. They were out of ribs and coleslaw so i cant comment on those. Two of us ordered a second course! Our recent visit here was good and I'll get into it after my brief history with one of my favorite foods. I spent many years in NC & decades in Memphis and have loved discovering really great BBQ across TX and Kansas City, not to mention 40+ other states and I've been to a lot of BBQ competitions, so I know a little about different regional que. I'm not saying that I'm a bbq snob, just that I've had a lot of it, in a lot of places. I cook it for myself so I can be a bit critical and try to always check any expectations at the door. With all that said, here's my opinions on the Moe's experience at this location. The parking is ample, there's seating inside and on the deck outside with a homey bbq themed interior. The setup is simple, order and pay at the counter, they give you a pager and when it beeps go to the pick up window and jump in. There's napkins, plastic utensils and condiments on the table so you are ready to chow down. I ordered some dry rub wings to start and they were pretty good, nicely seasoned and cooked and they come with a white sauce for dipping that's much better than a ranch dressing. Next I ordered a combo plate with ribs and pulled pork. The pork was cooked nicely and was lean, moist and flavorful. Not much of a smokey flavor but still quite good. The BBQ sauce that comes on the meat is quite mild but they have bottles of sauce at the counter that are more spicy and it made a great addition to my meal. The ribs also didn't have much smoke but they were very tender and cooked perfectly so I was happy with the prep and the spicy sauce made them quite enjoyable. The cornbread was good, of course cornbread is another one if this highly subjective foods, especially for those of us that grew up with it, but it was good. On my combo plate there was garlic bread and my choice of sides, cold slaw and red beans & rice. The beans were fairly bland but the slaw was excellent. It's not a Mayo base, but a sweet vinegar slaw that pairs very nicely . I'm a bit disappointed that there's no brisket or beef of any kind on the menu, but brisket can be tricky and pork only not unheard regionally. They do offer chicken, turkey, shrimp, sausage and catfish which is a good rounded menu. I used the term "this location" because there are 21 locations in AL, 8 in CO, 6 in NC and 19 others from FL to Maine and even one in Tahoe City, CA. The different restaurants have the same base of foods but they're franchises and can have variable setups. For instance this location on Orange Beach, AL offers daily specials like the fried chicken on the day of out visit with additional sides and desserts not on the regular menu. As one of the founders Mike Fernandez says on their website "You can kinda do whatever you want to do with your own Moe's. We are not trying to run their business. We are trying to give them the tools to run their own business and lean on us when they need to." Moe's was founded by three guys from Alabama who started up Moe's in Colorado. When you walk in, you can seat yourself or order to go. We ordered two pulled pork sandwich meals, sides of mac n cheese, banana pudding, and a salad. Mac n cheese wasn't much, but the salad was amazing as well as the pulled pork sandwiches. The banana pudding wasn't traditional banana pudding, which was odd but I really enjoyed it. For our drinks, I got the bushwacker which was amazing. When we come back down, I'll have to come back through to get another. Only reason I didn't give it 5 is because of the amount of trash- everything served in paper or on paper, individually wrapped plastic utensils, and paper napkins even for eat in. Pulled pork is pretty good. No fat to be seen, but the meat is greasy, so it's in there. Have tried their take-out service a couple of times. Served in small styrofoam cups, with the size dependent on the weight ordered. Unfortunately, a pound to Moe's is not a full 16 ounces. Of four "one-pound" containers, none actually held a full 16 ounces. One was even barely over 12 ounces! And I have verified the accuracy of my scale, BTW. If I'm paying for a pound of pulled pork, I feel it is only fair to receive a pound of meat. read more

I have come from Texas to judge your BBQ. This is one of the first places I've been to outside of the Texas Hill Country where the BBQ has been excellent. We showed up on the 4th of July and they happened to have made brisket! It was terrific. We got the large family order, which came with three sides. Their potato salad is about just like we like it. Not too mayo, chunky potatoes, and not too creamy. The slaw is uncomplicated and vinegary. The beans were the only one we weren't in love with. It was a busy day and ordering can be a little confusing. Everyone there, employee and customer, were being cool and it all worked out. read more
