Update! Some old lady called my mother to complain about my review, since my mother's English was limited I took over to the phone to speak. I asked her "was the first and second battery you gave us bad "yes or no" (since we had confirmed with an actual good and professional mechanic and he told us the batteries were bad). and she then refused to answer and began yelling at us that I couldn't help but laugh at their poor attempt to resolve such a simple problem. I was hesitant to give a rating less than 5 stars since Mojo is a nice guy who is very accommodating to local residents. I purchased a refurbished battery for my 2007 Prius in April 2019 and have since had circumstances that I feel will help others. The warranty is for 1 year or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. I barely drive 5000-10,000 miles per year so I knew the 1 year time frame would apply to me. I work remotely so I used to drive locally a few times a week. Since COVID-19 hit, my driving decreased to 1-2 times per week for essentials starting in March 2020. At the beginning of May 2020, the red triangle dashboard light came on and I started to have acceleration issues while driving. By now, the 1 year warranty has expired and I'm SOL. Still, I call Mojo and ask if he can take a look which he gracefully agreed to. He plugged in his laptop and told me 1 cell is barely under the suitable range and this is most likely because I haven't been driving much. I wanted to believe this but my driving habits didn't change drastically so something felt off. I understand hybrids need to be driven regularly but a $750 battery shouldn't fail because I take less trips around town. That just doesn't make sense to me. Had I not driven it for months, I would understand but this was not the case. Upon further research of hybrid battery dealers in Cali, I learned that a refurbished battery with a 1 year warranty is pretty standard as a "cheap" band-aid and the likelihood of the battery failing after 1 year is high. I've beaten myself up over this mistake for months now and vow to make my next move wiser and more educated. I found a hybrid battery company that offers a lifetime warranty...I wish I had gone this route so I'm posting this review in the hopes of helping fellow hybrid owners. Mojo is a super nice guy but since this is business and not personal, I suggest doing lots of research on refurbished batteries and your options in general. $750 for 1 year of driving was not a good investment for me. I even found a local hybrid dealer offering a 1 year refurbished warranty for less than $750 so I just made a bad decision. I'm torn about my baby Prius. I used to love it but it's become such a pain in the arse that I may give up on hybrids forever. read more

I had my Auxiliary Water Pump changed on my 06' Prius. After having my main hybrid battery changed by MoJo, I knew I could trust them with my car. And lo and behold I get the fun red triangle of death on New Year's Eve. I called Modesto to see if the shop was open and he said he could even do a service call to my house. Outstanding experience! They came out to my home on a Sunday afternoon, and told me it was the inverter pump for my '07 prius, which is what I was suspecting from the online Prius forum. Several codes were showing, but I was told the transmission code was common under the circumstances, and should resolve. My 12v battery was also needing replacement. They had a new inverter pump with them and began working, as they sent me to O'Reilly's to pick up a replacement battery and some coolant. When I returned, I watched all the steps of the battery replacement (I hadn't watched the removal) and it was a pain in the a**., and they only charged $25 for the battery labor. The whole thing was so quick and easy, and the total charge was only around $400. It has been two weeks and the car is driving perfectly, with no more check engine light and warning symbols. It's running better than before the breakdown, too! I am very happy about my experience and would totally recommend Mojo hybrid battery service. read more

It was great fortunate of mine to find this company as I googled, after my hybrid battery was dead. ＮISSAN gave me a estimation of $6000 to replace it, $4000 for unit $2000 for installation. I paid $1350 to Mojo include $45 for driving down to Palm Springs. You might be skeptical as I was when you found this huge gap of price. I can't recommend MoJo enough. I've been meaning to replace the hybrid battery on my Gen 3 Prius for about a year. However, the dealer cost was insane so I found myself researching DIY videos and considering a battery purchase online. I don't have enough wonderful things to say about Mojo. They helped me a while back and I've been meaning to write this review for a while but nevertheless I have not forgotten how kind, professional and above and beyond helpful they have been. My 2010 Prius broke down after my Hybrid battery stopped working which caused me to break down on the side of the freeway. It was freezing out and I had the car towed to a safe parking lot in Riverside overnight. The Mojo team showed up the next morning and went quickly to work replacing my hybrid battery then observed that my 12v might also need to be replaced. At this point replacing it was was a strong suggestion and not a requirement. With the new battery replaced the car started up, I paid the gentlemen, and I was on the road again. Not a mile down the highway the car's "check hybrid system" light came on again and the car died, forcing me to once again limp off the freeway. I pulled over to a gas station just off the freeway and called Mojo. They promptly said they were on their way back again. It was now snowing hard and even hailing (I know) Keep in mind they also working in the midst of the pandemic. They quickly realized the battery problem and then said I would need to go immediately to a parts shop to get a replacement 12V battery and needed to fill my car with gas as the gauge was too low and therefore the car computer thought the car was empty and would shut down again. I again assumed these were both suggestions for my next move and so I drove the car in the blinding snow to a gas station and then a nearby AutoZone hoping I would figure out how to replace a 12V on my own. I left the AutoZone with my replacement 12V only to discover the Mojo staff waiting with a pup tent set up ready to replace the 12V for no additional labor charge. They had followed me to the AutoZone and went above and beyond even after they had been paid. They even recommended a mechanic to fix my fuel pump at a discounted rate. They were/are lifesavers. Our Prius is in good condition, but has 196,400 miles on it, and might be worth $4,500 if the big battery was still running. The first time I contacted them was on the night of Labor Day. They did a reset and I was great for about 3 months. No charge. I had them on several cell texts to help me. No charge. So unfortunately our 2006 Toyota Prius finally decided to give us issues at 177,000 miles. I took it to a regular mechanic and they told us that The Prius needed to be taken to the dealership or a specialist. From start to finish it didn't take him more than two hours. I was surprised with the results and super pleased. The cost is nowhere near what you would pay at a dealership. Great service and great work by Mr. Modesto "Mojo". I definitely recommend to him if you have any issues with any hybrid. He is extremely knowledgeable on these type of vehicles.
