The service was polite and very quick. They were busy and that didn't not keep them from bringing out food out in a timely manner. The food was fresh and delicious I really enjoyed my torro and the miso base soup, I also like the variety of additional sauce they provide without having to ask for them. In total after tax, the cost was $25, which isn't too bad with today's inflation. The broth itself was fine - 3/5. The beef still tasted frozen and still being thawed at the time I had tried it. They have a long bar in the middle, with some tables that seat four on the left side. They have size portions that are S, M, and L, but there's also a "SH" which means sharing. I came here on a Sunday evening and it wasn't packed at all. Maybe 2 other tables besides up. I usually go to the Garden Grove location but this location was on the way. We got the dinner for 2 with the beef sampler. I got the spicy pork bone broth and my friend got the fire crab. Both broths were flavorful. The meat and veggies were nicely displayed and the servers came around often to check up on us. The restaurant was clean and I liked the chic decor. Towards the end of the night, however, the servers were nonexistent. When we asked for more broth, the server said they have already closed the kitchen without any notice. They gave us the check and we never heard from them again. We even had to go to the back kitchen to ask for take out containers for our leftovers. And they never gave us the dessert that is part of the dinner set. Since the service was so bad, we didn't even notice until we've left. Wife and I have been to the Irvine and Garden Grove locations and this was our second time at the Orange one. They ALL provide a consistent experience and of course exceptional food as well! I stopped in last night for dinner since it's been awhile. We ordered their usual toro fatty belly, which as a beef belly enjoyer, is by far THE BEST slice of meat they offer. However, my wife and I never noticed they offered a shareable portion which is ENORMOUS. Literally maybe half way through our meal it looked like we didn't even put a dent in it. I wasn't shy about digging in either! Service was excellent too! One of the girls said the most hot drops they've seen was 15, so naturally I asked for 16. But then at the end of our meal, it turns out someone else has done 20!!! I'll be back to do 21. And for those curious, 16 was tolerable, like the perfect amount of hurt. Food and service was great, the only complaint I have is that we made a reservation but still had to wait for a decent amount of time for a table, so it felt like maybe the reservation was pointless. Love the garlic and green onions they provide as well. As for the veggies it might be nice if they asked if there's any you don't want, since I usually don't eat the pumpkin or carrot. My friends and I are all Mokkoji lovers and always go to this location, Irvine, or Costa Mesa. They recently updated their prices and Toro is now $4 more compared to last month. Toro is also more expensive than Flat Iron when it usually is the other way around. The last two times that my friends and I ate at this specific location, we experienced severe stomach pains each time. We all got different broths so idk what it is. My udon also came out partially black from the dirty vegetables. Service is also so incredibly slow, especially during dinner time. There are so many servers on the weekends but none can seem to work efficiently. We asked for water refill and ladles multiple times and no one ever stopped by because some of the workers are too busy chatting it up with other customers. The only thing they're quick with is giving out the checks. I would say lunch time is a better time to come since they don't have a front desk which is odd.
