Mokkoji is a great go-to for shabu shabu. Ordered the toro with spicy pork broth and everything hit. The toro presentation was beautiful, and the spicy pork broth was really flavorful with just the right amount of kick. Meats are good quality you can tell by the marbling of the meat. Lots of options for broths and proteins (seafood and meat). Decent service and casual ambiance. definitely want to come back here soon!

Mokkoji is one of my favorite places for a high quality shabu shabu meal. I always go for the Mokkoji cut and it never disappoints. The meat is perfectly marinated, has good amount of meat to fat ratio. If you're coming with a partner or friend, the 32 pieces is plenty for two people. You will be full! The dipping sauces and sides are a great addition to eat with your meat as well as dip. The garlic and sesame sauces are addictive, I find myself dunking it in both sauces because it complements the beef and veggies so well. When it comes to finishes with noodles, I highly recommend getting the ramyeon. In my opinion, it's so much better than udon. Besides the food, waiter here are friendly and the ambiance is clean and modern. Check this place out if you're in the mood for quality shabu shabu!

Coming here was super confusing. First timer, here! Alrighty, we came party of 3, we could either get ourselves our own meat size portions: R, L, XL, SH (share?).; or do what we did, get the beef sampler which was a few pieces of all the meat. That ended up being more than enough for the three of us. Seeing as we all got our own vegetable and udon portion in addition to rice. I really liked the spicy pork broth, though it's not really seasoned. I've been told the flavors come as you cook with the meats, so make sure you get the meat with the marinade. It was kind of pricey and you are charged an additional $ for sharing the beef sampler, but for what we wanted, it was worth it. Anyways, I was confused, but now I've eaten there, I understand the process of ordering; I think. I'd probably go again if I have someone from out of town or like a special night out. Not casual because it's quite pricey.

This restaurant is serves great food. The meat for the shabu shabu is great quality and can be prepared plain or with garlic soy seasoning. I personally like to get plain broth and seasoned meat. Once the veggies and meat are cooked in the broth, it becomes so flavorful. The meal comes with two types of dipping sauces. My favorite is the creamy sesame sauce. The service here is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and has a quaint vibe. Get here early to avoid waiting during busy hours.

A great spot for hot pot if you're in the area. Mokkoji offers a range of meat, with each being such high quality. I ended up getting the Toro Fatty Belly and it was thinly sliced and cooked excellently. I appreciated how easily you can adjust your heat level on the stove becaused my broth always evaporates. I got the Spicy Miso broth which overall wasn't too spicy but it definitely made my nose run a bit. I enjoyed the udon noodles they provided and our server was pretty on top of things. Great place.

Pulled up solo and got my own little bubbling jacuzzi of broth... elite self-care move I went with the beef, quail eggs, rice on the side, and that sesame dipping sauce that basically tastes like liquid happiness. You cook everything your way, your pace, and the broth just keeps getting richer as you go. Super comforting, super chill, and kinda therapeutic just swishing slices of beef around like a hot pot wizard

My friend order the Flat Iron Mokkoji Cut and I have the Prime Rib cut hotpot. Service is okay but they urge you to pay the bill in 2 hours. Ambiance is clean and bright.

Yelp said it was opened and the store hours at the restaurant said it's open at 11AM. It's now 11:36AM and it's closed :( we drove 20 mins with an angry baby in the car bc I was craving mokojji only for it to be closed! I need to know why!

food was so yummy, i had nothing to complain. I went for the lunch deal and it was really worth it. Service was decent, the server asked us if the food was okay and if we need anything once in a while. We went during lunch so there wasnt alot of people, it was pretty quite and empth, overall was chill.

My cousins brought me here to celebrate my 25th birthday. I love shabu, and I have yet to try this spot out. Parking: They're located in a medium sized plaza, and there's plenty of free parking. Ambiance/Environment: It's very clean inside. There's a decent amount of seating. We visited on a Thursday night, so it wasn't too busy. Service: Our server was efficient. We didn't catch her name, but she was knowledgable about the menu when we asked questions. Throughput was under 15 min after ordering. After receiving our orders, our server checked on us a couple times. Soup & meats: My bf and I ordered the 'specials for 2' and went with the shared brisket set. The soup was decent; wasn't too salty. My favorite part were the briskets. It came with a generous amount of briskets. The toppings were also fresh. This special included beers and desserts.

I discovered Mokkoji Shabu Shabu through a social media recommendation, and I'm so glad I did! The food is absolutely delicious, and I love the personal, customizable dining experience. My husband and I tried the spicy pork broth and ordered the 32-piece share portion of the toro fatty belly, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender. You have the option to receive your meat marinated or as is. We opted to have it marinated. It came dressed with garlic and scallions. Each set comes with two sauces: one is a creamy, sesame-based sauce, and the other tastes similar to ponzu, though I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. The sets also include rice, udon, and a vibrant veggie platter with bok choy, enoki mushrooms, broccoli, Napa cabbage, kale, and a slice of kabocha squash. The broth was incredible--each vegetable added sweetness and depth, making it even more flavorful as the meal progressed. Even my husband, who isn't a big fan of vegetables, was happily enjoying the veggie-packed meal. We also ordered the assorted pickled vegetables, which I highly recommend. The variety included pickled jalapeños, cucumbers, radish, and kimchi, all of which added a refreshing acidity that perfectly balanced the richness of the fatty beef. Beyond the food, the service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and a modern. Great for a date night or casual outing. We left feeling completely satisfied! I'm looking forward to sharing this place with friends and family who are visiting.

OK, I don't really like hot pot, but this place is an exception Their food is solid, and that's not deception make sure you get their marinated meat because that's the best I love this place over all the hot pot rest. They're super clean and the wait staff are super nice But mind you, it's kinda cold in there, kinda like ice (not that bad, just needed to rhyme ;) I really like this place. They have a long bar in the middle, with some tables that seat four on the left side. They have size portions that are S, M, and L, but there's also a "SH" which means sharing. When asking for the meat, they'll ask if you want marinated, which you should say "YES" because it's delicious. If you like spicy, they'll come around asking if you'd like some drops. Apparently these drops are super powerful. My wife does two drops in her sauce, and 3-5 drops in her soup. But mind you, it's really spicy.

This is my daughter who has severe and life threatening food allergies. Steven went above and beyond to make sure her first shabu shabu experience was a safe one. Thank you Steven! Also, the food was delicious and we will be going all the time. I highly recommend them!

Great soup bases, great condiments (that sesame sauce is fire), and I LOVED the chili oil that you could add to your sauces to make them spicy. I also appreciate that the menu has a nice variety without being overwhelming. The menu is the perfect size where you have lots of options for your mood, but it's easy to decide what you want to order with little more than a couple glances. I dined by myself right as they opened for lunch and had a great experience--my server was really sweet and attentive in explaining everything to me! The soup base wasn't too salty, even after boiling for some time before I added the noodles, and the meat was really high quality. And not bad for the price! I splurged for a large portion of the premium meat combo and everything included (rice, veggies, noodles) it was still under $50. Even just the little bowls of onion and garlic you get on the side were great, and honestly it shows to me that they have this format down to a science, because those are the perfect (and really the only) side dishes you need for a great dining experience. Can't wait to come back!!

They offer traditional konbu and water broth which is a huge requirement for me. I have been to a shabu place where this wasnt an option. The ponzu and veggies were really good. The service was excellent. But what really made this place not hit so well was the meat tasted pretty flat and I didnt like their goma sauce at all. The goma sauce tasted like it had a sesame oil note to it. Maybe their flavored broths or their marinated meat option is what this place stand out but because I am not about that life I cant really comment on it. Since the price is on the higher end I cant really justify the cost from the minimal shabu style eaters point of view. If you are the more flavored broth style you might enjoy this place.

This was…read moreactually the first place where I was introduced to shabu shabu, and it's what started my love for this type of food. I remember it being really affordable back then, but of course prices have gone up over the years. These days, the cheapest small size is around $22-$24, which isn't shocking with inflation and higher wages. One thing that hasn't changed, though, is the tiny cup of ice cream they give you at the end of the meal, which is a nice little touch. The seating is all bar-style, which can feel a bit overwhelming if you're an introvert like me and prefer having your own space. That said, it's not uncomfortable. People mostly keep to themselves, and the servers don't bother you much either. They'll check in once in a while to see if you need anything, but they're not constantly hovering. What really stands out to me about this place is the goma sauce. When it's done right, it's seriously good--rich, nutty, and super flavorful. Honestly, it's one of the best goma sauces I've had, and it makes the whole meal that much better. Even after all this time, that sauce alone reminds me why this place left such a strong impression on me in the first place.

My friend and I ordered the 12 piece total 2-item combination. We both ordered 6 pcs of shrimp and 6 pcs of rib eye for the upgraded price. Our plate of protein only came out with 4 pcs of shrimp so we questioned the server why this was so. She tells us its actually weighed out to 4 ounces and not "pieces" which the menu clearly states. We asked her if this was a new rule because we had dined here literally the week prior. She proceeds to tell us "idk who served you but it's always been like this. I always tell our customers its weighed by ounces" (she did not inform us prior to ordering). We sat for a bit but felt we were being kind of cheated because of the discrepancy from last week's experience. We called her over again and literally told the server we were not trying to pick a fight and we just wanted to clarify due to the discrepancy from last week's meals. She stated "you probably got less rib eye and more shrimp, hence 6 pieces of shrimp." However this was not the case, because we know how to count and its 6 pieces of each item in the 12 PIECE COMBO. So, eventually we asked to speak to a manager. She left to get Kozen (?) her manager and when she came back with a male server(?) she told us "the managers too busy - but he'll allow it this one time but like I said its always been by ounces". From there on out, she proceeds to ignore us, starts coughing (pretty obnoxiously and grossly, might I add) and speaking loudly to those around us, cursing and being overall unprofessional. If you're going to say your food is served in ounces and not by pieces as your menu states, you best be telling ALL YOUR GUESTS before they order regardless if they're returning or new. We had lost our appetite, could not even finish our food and were just trying to rush out because the whole situation made us feel so uncomfortable. She made sure that we were ignored and put to the side and the male server who came down with her tried to mitigate by checking in on us, however we had already been put off by female server and her unprofessionalism. Due to this lack of professionalism and overall extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience, we left 0% tip (which btw, is extremely rare for us). Overall, the food itself is still delicious as always, but we'll likely only patron when Roger and Cesar are working (because they at least, know how to count).
