    pricing problems revealed on menu

Food is good but wtf is up with their menu pricing? Not only high-priced add-ons, but the egg price for two versus one is ridiculous.

Order Chicken fried steak for breakfast and a large Pepsi. $20. This was a waste of money. I ordered eggs over medium. They were busted open and over cooked. The chicken fried steak barely had gravy on it and the box was just full of their country potatoes. I ordered for pickup. If you're looking for a country breakfast I don't recommend this place.

Have been passing this place often when going to the store so decided to stop and get some dinner. This is a nice diner which Reminds me of one back in Whittier my grandma and I would go to back in the day. Food was delicious and more than enough to satisfy my hunger. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. This was their daily special. I would definitely come back to try other items and want to try their breakfast next. Service was great and staff was very helpful and courteous. Would definitely come back. If in the area give them a try.

First time here. It's a beautiful Monday. 9:45am Greeted and seated very quickly. The food is extremely soft. And my eggs Benedict were very basic. Soggy muffin. I can definitely see why I see lots of elderly folks in here. Which is great: so if you're trying to accommodate your friend, or Family on the super soft food here is the place. I thought of denture wearers. A place they can feel comfortable eating. Not so savory. Not very good Our waiter was okay. Didn't really go out of her way to help us naviagte the menu We told her it was our first time here and gave us each time very little time to think of Our order. She kept coming asking if we were ready when we weren't she seemed very annoyed and bothered. The restrooms smell they need a good air freshener Will I return no Didn't like my food low quality flavor Portions are big but larger disappointment

Happy Mother's Day! My son took me out to breakfast. Ava R. Our server was very dry and semi rude throught the entire meal. Food was okay. The potatoes were horrible. Dry as if we asked for crispy fries. To top it off, they were handing out carnations to the "Mother's". Guess who ddidn't get one. Yep. You guessed it the only Black mom in the restaurant. Kudos to the other servers who honored the Mother's at their tables. I watched her go to all her other tables handing them out with grace. Sad, but a true reality.

The service is quick and amazing! This is my second time coming here. The food is great but could be better. You do get big portions and the prices are not bad either. The environment is cozy and quick parking too. They had breakfast, lunch and dinner available at 9am on Sunday.

This is the spot for us when we go up to all the national parks in the Sierra Nevada. We usually stop here to have breakfast/lunch as our last "real" meal before our camping our backpacking trip. Overall, the food is decent for a typical local/home feel diner. The people there are great. Our server Rebecca was very attentive and detail. She was also very friendly, calm, and efficient in getting our food and our bill. Will definitely come back again as always.

Half eaten hamburger steak and eggs. I like my meat rare and they cook it perfectly over a flame broiler. Yum

One of my favorite places in Bakersfield for breakfast. My favorite meal is a hamburger steak with eggs. I have eggs scrambled with some cheddar cheese and green onions. I asked for my hamburger steak rare and actually cook it correctly. Use a higher quality meat, tastes like ground chuck cooking on a flame broiler so it has that flame broiled flavor. I get cottage cheese instead of potatoes and biscuits and gravy. Excellent food and the service is also wonderful. The manager is always working right alongside with the waitresses to insure the customer is taken care of.

Good service but slow, bad food, overpriced, and small portions. Don't see how this place has such high ratings. Won't be back

I had been waiting for over 6 months to try this restaurant as I live in Sacramento and they are in Bakersfield. I was worth the wait. The only issue I had was, they had too much pepper in their gravy. A lot of people enjoy that, but I am not one of them. That didn't to take away from the meal. I just took off the gravy and finished that HUGE chicken fried steak. Then to top the meal off, I had one of the most enjoyable pieces of Carrot cake that I gave ever had. It only cost $5.00 dollars, what a steal. Thank all if those involved in making aour meal enjoyable. David Marks

I honestly can't believe it took a horrible experience at a new establishment to finally bring me here. Customer service is a 10/10 Coffee is a 10/10 Cobbler is a 10/10 but I will say I enjoyed the blackberry cobbler so much more. My baby had the Chicken and Waffle 10/10. The waffle has a similar taste to a fresh waffle cone, so you don't need so much syrup. Double bacon cheese burger with veggies on the side was ordered by my teenager and I must say this is one of the BEST BURGERS BAKERSFIELD HAS TO OFFER! The fries were seasoned perfectly and the meat tasted so fresh, plus the bacon was cooked to perfection 10/10. My big boy ordered the hot links, eggs with county potatoes 10/10 We ordered over medium and they did not disappoint. We arrived a bit late because the biscuits were sold out, so he got some french toast instead 8/10. I ordered the county fried steak which I was amazed on how delicious it was and the gravy was great 10/10 I also received country potatoes and eggs 10/10. Bakersfield has resturants that offer country potatoes but unfortunately most places fall short, this place is on point with their seasoning. As you can tell by the pictures my kids left happy and full. This place is so welcoming and the interior is cute, plus their restrooms are super clean. I am such a foodie and I identify as a bigback lol So I will be making this my new go to place, because there is so much more I want to try and they didn't fail my taste buds.

Most of the staff are great, however, everytime i come with my partner, we cant help but notice that the older waitress Mary gives us a strange type of vibe/treatment everytime we have her as our waitress. She rarely will acknowledge us, one time she walked up to our table and didn't greet us or ask for anything and when we finally said hello first, she didnt greet us back but instead just took our drink order. She also regularly brings us our check before we even finish our first plate, and doesnt do this with other patrons or people sitting. We recently came close to lunch time and quickly handed us our check which we figured that they might charge the difference or recharge us for lunch. However we were the only people in the dining room that she did not offer this upcharge or if we were staying for lunch. Just handed us our check and walked away. We enjoy the food, however, dont always feel welcomed if it makes sense.

Of course, I had to try their famous tri-tip sandwich and added a side of fries. The sandwich was loaded with tri-tip, tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their BBQ sauce. The fries were a great addition and made the meal even more filling. I also ordered the Southwestern salad with chicken, and when I opened the container, I was honestly impressed by how much food they packed in there. It was huge, fresh, and loaded with chicken, avocado, black beans, corn, peppers, and plenty of toppings. Definitely not one of those salads that leaves you hungry afterward! I also have to give Firestone Grill credit for the sauces. They gave me two large containers of BBQ sauce AND two generous containers of dressing. As someone who hates when restaurants give you one tiny sauce for an entire meal, I appreciated that more than I probably should. No sauce rationing over here! I did takeout this time, but they offer self-seating and have a full bar, so next time I definitely want to dine in, grab a drink, and enjoy the full experience

I hear the burgers here are very good and seen a lot of people with the burger in their hand mostly construction workers that were there at the time .The portions were smaller than I expected for a country cafe, but just enough to almost leave us satisfied. The coffee had a unique taste. I wasn't a fan at first, but after my second cup, it really grew on me and turned out to be a very good cup of coffee. Be sure to arrive before 9:30 a.m. because they can run out of biscuits by then. We arrived at 10:15 and by time they took our order we were told they were out of biscuits. The dining room is also small, seating only about 20 people at most. Carla's Cafe is a little out of the way for me, and probably for most people, but it's well worth the trip. Overall, I'd give Carla's Cafe 4 out of 5 stars. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying a few more entrees.
