I got a single scoop ($7.44 after tax) with two flavors: matcha strawberry and raspberry crisp. Both were good; the raspberry crisp had pieces of cookies in it. After I paid for the ice cream, I was asked if I wanted any toppings, and naturally, I assumed they were free since I already paid for the ice cream. I'm a big ice cream fanatic but it's been hard for me to understand the appeal here. I heavily respect that Molly Moon's will not allow you to tip though because they believe their workers deserve fair compensation without relying on tips. However, that's probably responsible for the higher prices here. Definitely more on the overpriced range and feels overhyped to me, maybe I haven't discovered the perfect flavor though. I've been multiple times and it's not a bad experience or anything, just feels pretty average and pricey. I do like that they have seasonal rotating flavors but I think Salt & Straw does it better. Location is definitely an advantage to Molly Moon's but if you can commute a bit, Salt & Straw is better. Opted for the flight one time - they're preset flavors but you the whole point is for you to sample a variety of flavors not get insane value. However, the vegan ice cream here made me scared of all vegan ice cream options until I tried Frankie & Jos (shoutout to them). I think those options here are too extreme for individuals who are able to eat regular ice cream because the taste is way different. Half the flight was vegan so that definitely didn't help either and we (3 total) didn't end up finishing it. Besides that I'm always recommended the Yeti and while it's good, I don't think it's extraordinary. There are some great pieces in oats and seeds along with the caramelly-vanilla ice cream, but it's nothing crazy. I prefer the plain, solid flavors here but then I question if it's worth it compared to a regular ice cream shop or even grocery store pints. Wouldn't suggest opting for the basics you always see in grocery stores (similar taste, lower value here) but try some of the unique flavors here! The menu is really unique with lots of different flavors. My visit was rather easy and quick, but this small store likely gets crowded on a peak summer weekend. This location is nice since you can walk around the shopping center eating your ice cream. I chose the honey lavender single scoop. It was served with a very generous scoop in a sugar cone. The flavor was interesting. The lavender really overpowered the honey, but it was a very refreshing option on a warm day. I do not know if I would do that one again, but I am glad I did. The kids scoop is probably the best value since premium ice cream commands a premium price. The ice cream at Molly Moon's is worth the hype. The experience my coworkers and I had tonight at this Molly moon's was beyond words. We were all really looking forward to having some ice cream after a long day of work and we all arrived with excitement. As soon as we entered, a guest in line informed us that he was just instructed by the workers to tell anyone else who comes in that they had stopped serving ice cream for the night. We showed our disappointment in a friendly way and not one of the workers apologized to us for closing 30 minutes prior to their listed closing time. We still understood and left, and as we were talking amongst ourselves outside of the shop and not long after, we saw another group of people enter. We proceeded to see if they would also be refused service like us and to our surprise, they had no problem ordering and getting their ice cream. We were all very confused and decided we would give it another try. We went back in and asked if it was now okay for us to order, and the worker named Samatar immediately scoffed at us and asked what flavor we wanted. I clarified that I was asking since we were told we couldn't order just ten minutes prior to this. He told me that there was some miscommunication, that they were only trying to "passively close the door to limit people from coming in". I want to say once again that it was only 10:30 pm, and their closing time is 11 pm. He clearly didn't want to admit that they simply didn't want to work anymore, taking advantage of our kindness and willingness to cooperate. After all of this, I just wanted to order my ice cream. I asked for a kids scoop of strawberry matcha ice cream, the new flavor we were all so excited about trying. He muttered that he didn't have the scoop to give me a kids scoop and said he could only do regular, which we were all okay with. He THEN said the exact words "I hope you guys got a lot of steps in today, this is a lot of calories". I have worked in the food industry for 10+ years and I have never once even thought to point out the amount of calories a guest may be consuming. It is beyond rude and careless. I hope this review can reach the owner and would like to emphasize how awful of an experience this worker gave us tonight. Last winter when I bought a pint of ice cream to go, I noticed the consistency was different than what I had experienced in-store. I contacted Molly Moons through Instagram, and they happily replaced my pint AND gave me two more pints of my choice plus a freezer bag for free. It really shows that there is good in the world :) Since COVID, Molly Moons has established new health and safety guidelines. Customers are required to wear masks and social distance in the store. They also do not offer samples at this time. Employees are required to wear gloves and masks as well. Additionally, there is now a plastic barrier between customers and servers with the credit card machine slot facing customers. The process is completely no-contact since the servers don't even handle your credit card. My favorite flavors here is the Honey Lavender, but I always love trying their seasonal flavors. Currently their only seasonal flavor is Rose Milk Tea, but they're supposed to bring Cherry Chunk back next week. This past visit, I ordered a split single scoop, half Union Coffee and half Rose Milk Tea. It was heaven in a cup! It was my first time trying out Molly Moon's so I had high expectations after hearing so much about it. I love ice cream so it's kind of a crime that it's taken me this long, right? LOCATION & PARKING // This location is in University Village, a trendy outdoor strip mall with a bunch of different clothing stores, retail options, and food/drink places. Fortunately, there is parking here in different areas. If you're lucky, you can find parking outside next to QFC. There's also quite a bit of parking in the structure! It might just take some time if you're coming during a busy place. The actual store itself is pretty small but limited seating (I'm talking 5-7 low seating). I don't really recommend planning to stay here for too long. Get your ice cream and walk around! FOOD // I got single scoop of HONEY LAVENDER (always flavor) and COCOA CRISPY MILK (seasonal flavor). That's right, you can get two flavors in a single scoop. Life-changing. It was a perfect blend as the honey lavender is a bit more earthy and not as sweet whereas the cocoa crispy milk tasted like the milk at the end of your cereal bowl. I even came back and got a pint of the SCOUT MINT which tasted like the perfect mint chocolate ice cream flavor. SERVICE // Everyone is pretty nice here and patient as you sample a few flavors. There's a friendly demeanor that just makes your experience here quite nice! But it taste damn good for human :) They no longer do samples ( covid) and lines are uber long now. It moves fast-ish. They are cashless which I believe all businesses should be anyway, forever!
