Ordered from this bakery two days in advance online, to customize items, and everything went smoothly from there. Got the chocolate chip banana bread loaf with added walnuts, and oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and walnuts (only comes in a 12-pack for preorder). I chose a specific hour-long window for pickup, and it was ready within the specified time frame. The lady was so professional and kind when she came out and handed me my items, the cookies packaged securely and the banana nut bread warm and seemingly freshly made. The perfect texture, and the taste was amazing, so much flavor and delicious melted chocolate, probably the best I ever had! And the oatmeal chocolate walnut cookies were pretty darn good too. I'm definitely a fan of Mom's Homemade Bread. I had never heard of East Bay Eats before. It's similar to Local Kitchens, with a bit of indoor seating (standard tables as well as countertops with bar stools). Now that I know, I may return for other food options when looking for some snacks in the east bay. And again, I'm 100% coming back for more of Mom's baked goods. I'm so glad I discovered this spot, totally worth the drive from the south bay.

    Decent banana walnut bread
    Kev H.

We tried their banana walnut bread, which I thought was quite decent - I especially liked how moist the bread was, and the banana flavor really came through as well - but at the same time it tasted just like a decent normal banana bread, and it didn't feel mind blowing or extra special. I also think the banana bread could use a little more walnut because I only found one or two specs of chopped walnuts in each slice of the banana bread that I had. I think having more walnuts in the bread would make this bread more wholesome and added a nice texture. With that said, I thought the bread was perfectly sweetened, and it made a good breakfast with a cup of coffee in the morning.

My go to bakery. Everything is delicious. The owners are always kind and easy to talk to. I ordered my son's birthday cake before this location opened and now we DD it regularly. The Chex mix is perfect. Sometime I just want a salty sweet snack. Chocolate haupia pie is my favorite.

Mom's Homemade Bread was on my radar because David N posted all the goodies offered by this business...mochi, Chocolate haupia pie and of course, a Crunch Cake! Celebrating my sister's and brother-in-laws birthday decided to place an order for all the items above....ordering online was straightforward and simple with a mutual pickup spot from the Castro Valley BART station. Since I'm not a big fan of mochi or chocolate pie (I know, I know it's a texture thing) I can't fairly give a rating but guests really enjoyed these items. The Coffee Crunch Cake was delicious but have to say I have my favorite spots...the cake texture was more bouncy like an Asian-sponge cake with smaller crunch bits...not overly sweet with a nice balance. Reasonably priced, friendly customer service with a taste of Hawaii close to home. Support this small, local business, Mom's Homemade Bread for your next event

I tried Mom's Homemade Bread and went with the banana espresso bread. It was delicious--moist, full of flavor, and a great size. The Kona coffee glaze really made it stand out, adding the perfect finishing touch. Tina was super nice, friendly, and took the time to answer my questions. Overall, great experience and definitely something I'd come back for.

Hands down, the best cookie I've EVER had! Cant wait to try more items on their menu.

Guava cake - my family loved this cake, not too sweet. The cream is fluffy, the guava jelly filling is perfect, the cake is moist yet light. I can feel the homemade love. Will definitely try all the other cakes Coconut Haupia Pie - not so accustomed to the jelly texture of the coconut cream but it was a good experience in a taste of Hawaii.

Mochi bites! The flavors were so spot on!
    Anna C.

I recently ordered the mochi bites for a work party, and Tina, the owner, could not have been more accommodating! When she heard they were for a party, she even plated them on serving plates for me. They were such a hit that everyone was asking me where I got them. I've also tried her guava chiffon cake and huapia pie previously, both also very delicious. You can tell she really cares about her craft. Don't sleep on this wonderful small mom and pop Hawaiian bakery!

Delicious Hawaiian goodies made by this mother and daughter team who are extremely sweet and kind. I'm addicted to her guava cookies (it has guava jam on the inside) and her Kona coffee shortbread cookies. I've had both their guava and mango chiffon cakes and I can't really pick a favorite. They're both delicious, moist and not too sweet. I love their butter, lilikoi and guava mochi bites. Really soft, slightly chewy mochi bites that even kids will love. Perfect size for little hands to nibble on. You can order online on their site and it'll be ready within 2 days. Great communication through text.

Tropical cookies & lemon crunch cake Cutest Easter packaging
    Vivian W.

We ordered some yummy goodness for Easter & it was absolutely delicious ! We usually pick it up but had to have it delivered due to my husband's recent surgery & unable to drive. We ordered the lemon crunch cake & tropical cookies. I shared with my co-workers but Hubby & I devoured the lemon crunch cake!!! You gotta try out these out it's all delicious!

Maybe tri valley standards are lower but there are wayyy better "home bakeries" elsewhere in the South Bay and peninsula area. The loafs pretty much were indistinguishable from one another, and the only memorable cookie was the guava cookie because it had interesting texture / filling. The other cookies were just shortbread with flavored icing, essentially. The price is right for a variety box though and the folks who run the place are nice!

Did it say European pastries? We had absolutely no room for a single thing, but European? Traditionally European desserts are not heavy on the sugar, don't have all the food coloring, and additives. Ding Ding plus Ding my mind spins fast as my hubby is getting pulled at a rapid pace towards the door. He says "No Way" I say "For another time," as we don't live in the area. We walked in to see cases of pastry delights. I turn back as hubby dares not to enter entirely into the temptation. As I look back I see stacks of boxes, walk over to discover they are all pies! Anyone that knows me knows my last meal in life would consist of Berry Pie for dessert. I look and there it is a Mixed Berry. I turn and ask the lady after she was done with her customer how much for this delight? She said it's $24. Without question I grabbed said pie, and went to the register. I told her that Berry is my favorite, and she went on to say that every Friday is Pie Day. She also mentioned that if I ever needed anything in particular, I could call ahead. She could have it prepared for me. Wonderful lady and beautiful service. Might I add that a pie of this weight and stature normally runs about $35 even $40 in some places. We had a slice the next day because I could not bear it any longer. Without lie this is the best pie I've had in years!!!! Years or even perhaps ever. It has to be realized that if there is Berry Pie of any kind on the menu it will be ordered even to go. There were actual whole berries, and it was not full of sugar like some pies. You can taste the natural fruit of summer, and the crust was perfection!!!! Now I have to wait for a Birthday to order a cake. I'm sure it will be divine! I could take a pic of pie now but it's partially gone. Not so picturesque.

The line moved too quick I wish i couldve have more time to decide so i ended up getting more than I wanted. We got there Chocolate croissant, brioche, Flan Vanille, macaroons, marshmallow, 2 tuna sandwich, ham and cheese croissant and the croque monsieur. Although everything was pleasant our favorite was the Flan Vanille and the tuna sandwiches. The Flan vanille is my new favorite dessert going forward. I know it was a busy day and the staff was busy with the orders and service making tables available however they could improve in checking their bathroom and trash bins. All bins were too full even one by the counter. We notice that the staff continously wiping the counter but didnt notice the overflowing trash bin. Other than that i couldnt stop bragging about Mason Benoit on my social media. We will definitely come back.

It's a great location, but you have to give them a bit of patience here. Pastries/breads/cookies/cakes all looks great and tastes good. Everything is fully stocked and plentiful in the mornings. After placing my order at the kiosk for a medium iced Tiger Boba Latte/milk beverage, I waited 15-20 minutes before getting my drink. I'm still glad it only costs me $4.90 for the cup and they haven't raised prices on beverages. It's the only beverage I purchased here for years. Decent and good tasting, more milky flavor, and not overly sweet. $4.90 is much better than $7 elsewhere. I wish they had more tables and chairs inside. When that happens, I have to give them kudos because at some places, the changes are so subtle they're almost meaningless. The drinks were OK, and they did the job on a a cold and rainy morning. As for the pastries, they were just OK. I've had better at other bakeries (and other branches of this same company), and with the plethora of options around for baked goods, you can find better. With that being said, it may just have been the couple of choices we had for food. The ube filled baked good was not very good, but I say that as an ube fiend. I have ube a lot, including back in the motherland. It was more like taro than ube, when it came to taste. As for the quantity, there wasn't a lot of it either. The actually bread part was soft and nice, and it was pretty. The egg tarts weren't the best. They left something to be desired. I would suggest getting something else. Maybe we made the wrong choices this time at 85, because I've definitely had better baked goods at their other locations.
