Monaghan's Landscaping did an outstanding job for me, and I am really thrilled with the outcome! They have a competent and professional crew who really knows what they are doing. I hired Monaghan's to build a robust retaining wall, 80 feet long, on a steep hill directly behind my house. The area was covered with ivy and very nasty blackberry bushes with lots of thorns. The team removed all the ivy and blackberries in two days. They then dug a huge, level base into the hill to support the new wall which was built with very strong and durable concrete blocks. The retaining wall is beautiful and even better than I imagined. They also backfilled behind the new wall to create a level planting area with soft and rich dirt. I went from having no usable back yard to having an instant back yard with lots of room for plants and raised beds. They also constructed a walkway with bricks and gravel that will make it easy for me to tend to my garden without getting muddy. This was a very big project, and I am really pleased with the work. Their fee was very reasonable, especially considering how much work and materials were involved. We were very pleased with the professionalism of the entire Monaghan's team in all phases of our project from bid through completion, including cleanup. Our project involved removing a number of excess plants and old hardscaping (walkways, retaining wall and flagstone patio) in our backyard. They created a new walkway behind our garage with the old pavers and installed new concrete pavers to replace the patio and main walkways. The result is a beautiful outdoor space that's much easier and safer to move around in. The team was skilled and knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. (For example, we saw an opportunity to improve the design of the retaining wall as it was getting started and they implemented it the same day.) The project was expected to require four days, but it was done in three with no shortcuts. In summary, we're very happy with our new backyard and we would recommend Monaghan's to anyone considering a similar project. Keep in mind that good contractors like the Monaghans are very busy due to high demand. Be prepared for the likelihood that a project of significant scope may take some time to schedule. Monaghan's is a great company to work with. My husband and I wanted to re-do our entire yard, we have a quarter acre lot and could not agree on what to do. Jamie came up with a plan that included both of our idea's and some great options for the spaces we have. When we were put on their schedule we were kept up to date on when they would be there and what to expect. The first day they started Jamie came out, walked the area with us and the crew and went over everything that was going to happen very thoroughly. Their crew was fantastic, respectful, and hard working, kept us informed of what they were doing and when. Several times we had questions and both Jamie & Colette were quick to get back to us with the information we needed. I loved that I could reach them so easily. We did have a couple of plants that didn't make it, when I called, Colette was super responsive and they were replaced immediately. To me shows the type of integrity Monaghan's has. I had my old lawn tore out and new sod and sprinkler system installed. Jaime showed up on time for initial walk through, and I had a bid the next day. Colette was quick to respond to all my questions, and we were able to come to terms quickly to fit my budget. The job started a few weeks later. The crew showed up on time ready to go and Jaime, the crew foreman and myself did another walk through to make sure we were all on the same page. The crew was awesome and completed the job in the 5 days they quoted. I was happily surprised by the attention to details. I was only expecting new sod and sprinkler system, but they went the extra mile and mulched all my flower beds and restored a pathway so everything in my yard looked finished. Jaime did another final walk through after the job was complete to make sure I was happy and to show me how to program the sprinklers. Have had a great experience working with Jamie, Colette and the whole crew of Monaghan's from day one. They've been very easy to communicate with, very responsive and friendly- Colette calls/texts back within the day every time. Our backyard was all brick pavers- we had them all removed and replaced with sod. Estimate was comparable to others we received. Because we had a preexisting sprinkler setup, Jamie also revamped/repaired/set up/taught us how to set timers for the sprinklers as well, which was a huge help. Work was great,done super fast. Maybe the best part of working with them is that they didn't just disappear once the check was cashed. There were some minor issues with bare spots between seams and the sprinklers leaking, and they came back repeatedly to ensure that things were going well. I was very pleased with the landscaping project I had Monaghan's complete for me. For several years I had tried to grow grass in my backyard using seed and it never completely grew in all areas. So I decided to try a sod that would grow in a mostly shaded yard that was recommended by Jamie (Jamie & Colette are owners of business). Colette was able to schedule me in within a few weeks of my estimate and the team showed up early and began to work right away. The team led by Dave worked efficiently and professionally and upon completion the sod looked beautiful. Within two days I had a problem with a small area of the sod so contacted Colette who showed concern and arranged to have areas taken care of. Monaghans is a great company to work with. The bid was fair. Jamie was prompt and detailed as he reviewed the areas wanted the work completed. They communicated along the way in an upfront and direct manner. They showed up when they said they would and Jamie reviewed the project with the crew. There was a non standard issue with our drainage, and they met with us a couple of times to make sure to get it right. Had a couple of things that were not exactly as we wanted, and Colettes responsiveness to address and improve were excellent. No problem, we want you to be thrilled with the work. He came out and listened to what I was looking for and then gave suggestions. We ended up having a retaining wall, patio, lawn and plants and shrubs put in. He completely transformed a space of dirt and bark into a beautiful backyard, making the most out of a fairly small space. It was such a good experience and the work was of great quality that when I moved into another home, I immediately called Jamie to come and add 2 ft. of height to a very long retaining wall. We wanted to add a small (150sq ft) paver patio at the bottom of the stairs to our deck. I requested quotes for the project from a number of contractors in August. Monaghan's was one of the few that responded and their quote was very competitive. Jamie came by to look at the job and we worked with Colette to choose the materials. There were a lot of jobs ahead of us in the queue, but we were finally given a start date. The materials were delivered, the crew showed up as promised and finished the job in two days. Monaghan's replaced my crumbling driveway, walkway, and front porch with beautiful timeless pavers. Definitely an improvement to curb appeal. Last spring, after several quotes and interviewing several companies, we chose to have Monaghan's Landscaping install our irrigation lines for watering our lawn and garden, from the street to the backyard. My backyard was a wet, dangerous slope full of blackberry vines. The front path was a disintegrating mess of gravel and weeds. Jamie and his crew are great. My back yard was a muddy, scrubby weed patch. They cleared it out, leveled it, put in a slab for my new hot tub, and installed an awesome paver patio complete with stone benches and a big fire pit. It turned out way nicer than I was ever hoping for. What was essentially wasted space is now a great backyard hangout area. And Jamie did a great job of suggesting ideas, since I started out a bit unsure of what I wanted the final result to be.
