We love getting takeout form here, the crab roll is tasty but I really like the chicken plate. They have excellent salad dressing and sauces - which is really my favorite thing

I've seen this spot a few times on social media and decided to come by. They have a very small store front, with street parking and no seating, it is a quick grab and go spot. We decided to go with one order of the pan fried kukui nut crusted ahi belly plate, a side order of stuffed ahi & one large crab cake. After ordering we stood outside to not take up the limited space within when new patrons would arrive. * The panfried kukui nut crusted belly was food, my friend ate majority of it and he said the ahi tasted fresh. * Stuffed Ahi, this was alright, I think if there were some kind sauce on top (like spicy mayo, unagi, etc) it would be better. I think they put a tiny strip of sauce (wasabi) on top (the tiny green?). I wish there would be a more even proportion of ahi and crab, it felt like there were more crab than ahi, and I think it was imitation crab? * Crab Cake: I actually liked this quite a lot, the crab cake itself was pretty flavorful and has different fine veggies within. The sauce it came with made it more enjoyable to eat as well. Overall, I think nothing was bad, but I expected to enjoy this more than I actually did, maybe I will try the ahi katsu instead.

I haven't been back here since the mid-2000s, so it was to my surprise how much has changed inside and the lack of poke and banana cream pie displayed on the ice filled counter. The mission was to finally get my crab stuffed ahi. I came the day before and it was closed even though Yelp said it was open. It's fine though, at least my husband and I were able to try again. And just like that, nostalgia hits after that first bite and the rest is history.

This place is always awesome. You may have to wait a bit but so worth it! We've been coming here for years and hopefully can keep coming back.

I been coming here for years and can't believe I didn't make a review. If you know, you know. Crab stuffed Ahi is a must. Poke always fresh and reasonably priced. Only street parking and take out only but that doesn't stop anyone from getting those crab stuffed ahi fix. Highly recommend!!!

Monarch Seafoods located on the corner of Kalihi and Colburn Streets. Known for their Crabmeat Stuffed Ahi and Banana Cream Pie . The Monarch Bento is equally impressive and delicious. They were sampling a new offering Mahi-mahi Tempura. Oh my I wish we had known before we ordered. But oh well that'll be a good excuse to go back next time. Take out only. Call ahead and order. Gotta take along a "Shotgun " rider to jump off and pick up the food. Very limited street parking . Hopefully you'll be lucky enough to get to try their Banana Cream Pie . Creamy full of bananas and sinfully delicious .

Crab stuffed ahi no wasabi all salad w/ extra dressing and a side order of a half pound spicy ahi. Service is always quick. Food is always delicious. Nice little spot on the corner. You can't miss it. Call in your order or walk-in, service is quick. The fish is always fresh! I definitely recommend you trying this place 10 out of 10.

This place is conveniently located right down the road from work so it's a perfect splurge for lunch when we got time. I love that you'll always see the same cashier, cooks, & mama's there. It's like a family. I appreciate how the fish is always fresh and they make the poke in small batches to guarantee the freshness. The food here is really good too. My kids love their mochiko chicken. Light on the batter & lots of meat. The stuffed crabbed ahi is good too. Rolled with crab and ahi, then deep fried, is a really yummy treat to have. The service here isn't bad. But do expect it to always be busy, so be patient! Calling in your order ahead of time does help especially during lunch rush. Parking is limited, so be cautious because it is a busy street especially with the rail project going on.

I've driven past Monarch Foods dozens of times and really never noticed this place. I thought it was just a fish market. Wow, was I wrong LOL. I first came here years ago. A friend of mine brought me here for lunch. They serve the freshest poke as well as a daily plate lunch menu. By now, I've tried most on the menu, and they've never missed. If this is your first time, my go to is always the Nori Wrapped Crabmeat Stuffed Ahi. It is always a winner! My second "go to" would be the Ahi Katsu. It is not your typical chicken or tonkatsu katsu dish fried all the way. It is more of a seared ahi so although the outside appears crunchy, the inside is still raw. It is served with a shoyu wasabi sauce. Yummy! All plate lunches are served with fresh tossed salad. Parking is a bit challenging. Except for maybe two stalls on the side, they don't really have parking, it is mostly street parking on Curtis Street. There is no parking on Kalihi Street, and you can't park right out front on Kalihi Street either because there is a bus stop right there in front. There are a lot of businesses close by so be sure not to park anywhere or your car may be towed. Farthest I've parked was on Curtis Street almost to Foodland a block away. But for their food, the walk was worth it!

Nothing but aloha in both their service and food. Ono poke and ono grinds! I expected the prices to be a bit higher for the ono food they served, but nope they decide to keep their prices down so you can buy not one but two maybe three plates instead . After a good day of holo holo this is definitely some comfort food with a twist you would expect to come home to. Best part we were blessed with a gift on our way out. Blessings and aloha to Monarch Seafoods.

It's rare for me to be able to try these kinds of places because they're not open late on the weekends when I'm off. I had an opportunity to try them so I called in my order and the lady who answered was very kind and said my order would be ready right away. Pickup was hassle free. Workers were nice and there was a steady flow of customers coming in and out. Crabcake- standard Crab stuffed ahi- okay, a little dried. Not sure if it was supposed to come with a sauce but we ended up dipping it in the spicy mayo that came with the crab cake Ahi katsu- would get again but eat it sooner lol. Comes with a wasabi soy Spicy poke- very mild in taste but fresh

Love this place! I always suggest to phone order a head! Makes it easier because parking is pretty hard to get. It is street parking and it does get busy! The food is very good, Poke is fresh. I absolutely love their mochiko chicken! So I would usually get the combo with mochiko chicken and fried poke. Super good. Their nalo greens and that dressing is seriously the best and the greens are always usually fresh. Their stuffed crab roll is also really good I always ask for extra creamy wasabi sauce! The workers here are pretty fast with taking orders and usually are always nice and friendly! Small inside but quality food!

Later, we added on an order of house noodles... they were thin, crisp, and tasty! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented! Service was efficient! Not all-you-can-eat, birthday boy just wanted to eat certain dish and we had 3 seniors who couldn't eat that much. Lots of parking available, outside restaurant mostly people using laundry nearby. We were welcomed and guided to our table. We ordered happy hour appetizers and main dishes. Salmon and ahi were ok. But the hamachi was really good. Not sure if it's the season but it was better than ahi or salmon. The fish were all fresh and big sizes. Very good value. Hotate scallops from Japan were great too, sweet and tender. I didn't care for the yuzu pepper on it, it only masked the flavor so I had to remove it. I ordered the Hoe Deop Bab. It comes with rice but I didn't need it so gave to my brother. I thought it was squid but it was the scallops in the salad so I was happy. The peanut dressing was really good and it went well with the sashimi. We had good family time. We asked for more hot tea and the serving girls came and filled it up. They left a jug of water on the side so we helped ourselves to water so it was less interruption. Servers were nice and courteous. Bathroom, need key and go outside the restaurant. Good quality sashimi/sushi here.

I would note that they do close at 8PM and stop seating AYCE sushi quite early (from what I've heard as early as 6:45). We went super early for that reason, specifically at 4, so there really weren't as much people doing the AYCE yet. We walked up to the counter and let the cashier know we wanted to dine in and do the AYCE. A different person then walked us to the other side where the dine in seats are. We're given the menu and an expo marker. Then they came back with the wasabi as well as taking our order (aka taking the menu) We got: - Aburi salmon !!, ahi, Hamachi !!, ebi, scallop - Shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura!!, calamari!! - Unagi nigiri !! - Green dragon roll - Fire cracker roll - Baked mussels !! Everything was good, the menu is not super expansive with much less choices than, for example, Kan Sushi. I would also note that they kind of pack each piece with rice. I'm unsure how strict they are regarding the left over rice policies, but if you'd definitely get full very quickly with their rice to fish ratio. I'd recommend the aburi items (maybe except the ebi as it felt especially small the amount of rice). I wouldn't recommend their shrimp tempura as it is definitely pre-packaged shrimp tempura refried. (I also put an "!!" next to the items I would REALLY recommend. Otherwise, I don't think I will come back. Not that it was a bad experience or anything but in my opinion there's just simply better AYCE sushi spots out there.
