You gotta check out these unassuming, hole-in-the-wall places. Mondo's is just stuck in a little used strip mall. You wouldn't even know it was there. I was just tooling around with a date, looking for someplace new. And we found Mondo's. It doesn't look special. It's got some tables. You can watch them make the pizza, which is always nice. The pizza is fantastic! And I am a pizza snob. It's great New York style pizza. It's good and greasy. If you don't like that, just blot it with your napkin, like a good East Coast-er. On top of the fantastic pizza, the guy at the counter is super friendly. He really shines. He has a great smile and just has a really positive energy. I even went back. With the same date. I know, a second date. That's weird for me. Yeah, it occurs to me that I do have some followers that read my reviews for content. I think that's weirdly cool and I feel I owe those readers a little bit of an explanation. You may have noticed that Husband has disappeared from my reviews. Yeah, Husband is now Ex-husband. No worries, we're still friends. Kid is still Kid, but we live pretty far apart. You'll see more of him when we get together. So, back to dating for me. Sucks for me, but it's good for Yelp. We've had pretty good luck with Mondo's in the past--not so much tonight. We had a long day working and did not feel like cooking--and yet here I am past 7pm and I still haven't eaten...why? Because Mondo's completely and utterly failed. They were 30 minutes late on the delivery (which we ordered at 5:30!!!!). The pizza was soggy and cold and so we had to put it in the oven just to eat it. And the salads we ordered had FROZEN SPINACH that had barely been thawed. It was horrible. WE WILL NOT BE ORDERING FROM MONDO'S again. read more

I'd say it's going to be successful with its NY style pies and will call Tower Road Shopping Center its new home. "Mondo's Motto: we serves authentic artisan pizza with dough and sauce made fresh daily, we hand stretch our dough. We offer appetizers, pastas, sandwiches, salads and desserts." With 3 fun choices in the appetizers, I am eager to pick up Mozzarella Sticks, because the marinara sauce is amazing! For $3.99, I got a generous, and securely boxed up cheesy sticks that were perfect for leftovers. We ordered a Memphis BBQ Chicken Pizza Pie that had the cheesiest stuffed crush I'd ever introduced to my taste buds. We very much enjoyed the very thin bits of chicken, as well as the herbs all around the top. The slices are wide, super thick and stacked, so each bite felt like we were getting our money's worth. Mondo's Pizza has 3 sizes: Personal, Medium that feeds 2-3 mouths, and the Large that feeds 3-5 people. Seems fair, right? Picked this spot cause it had good ratings and was near our hotel. Great pick. Everything my family of four ordered was outstanding. My wife and daughter had a 10 in half Pepperoni half mushroom. Great pizza. My son had the butcher calzone. Chock full of all the meats and copious amounts of cheese. I had the Brooklyn 10 inch. Lots of flavor and a bit salty from the fresh Parmesan slices. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had. And I'm from NYC. Strong coffee flavor with supper fluffy cream. A must have!!! Everyone here was pleasant and we had a great experience. Mondo's was close by and they deliver - whoohoo! They service was amazing!! These people were so so nice! They deserved a 5 star review just cause of how nice they were! Literally took our order over the phone, promised delivery, the delivery guy came all the wall up to our hotel room, and took our payment over the phone! I wished they would've brought a credit card receipt we could add a tip onto cause we didn't have any cash! The pizza was exactly what we wanted. Don't look for a fancy wood-fired pizza, that's not what you're getting here. We had a normal pan pizza, and the large was huge!! We ordered half Hawaiian and half pepperoni, mushroom and capicola! First, outstanding, friendly customer service. Incredibly friendly without being intrusive. That's a hard balance to strike. The sauce was excellent and the ingredients seemed fresh (if they weren't, they fooled me, so good enough). The prices were reasonable, and the place was small and simple, but clean. I almost rated it four stars because I didn't care for the crust/dough; but There wasn't anything wrong with it, it just wasn't the style that I like. If I have any suggestions for improvement: 1. Well, I knew it was too good to be true. Customer service was terrible today. Went inside and placed an order to go and was specifically told they would tell me when my order was ready. The only problem is, they don't have a system in place to let people know their to go orders are ready so they were NEVER going to tell me when my order was ready. My pizza was sitting on top of the oven the whole time I was sitting and waiting endless watching customers come and go. It wasn't until I saw the ones who ordered way after me get their order that I stood up to ask what was taking so long. This is where the terrible customer service came in. I asked the same guy I ordered from where my pizza was and he had no idea why or what I was waiting on like I was just sitting there inside the whole time for no reason. The guy didn't care at all that he forgot about me. The employees have no sense of awareness, every single employee saw me sitting there this whole time but had not initiative to check to see why I was there for so long. I guess my one star review is in comparison to Dion's customer service where if they see you sitting there for 2 minutes they keep checking on you every 2 minutes to make sure everything is OK. This is just my fault for being too lazy to drive the extra 15 minutes to Dion's where I've never had a problem ordering and picking up a pizza. read more
