I've been coming to this restaurant for a while now and i can say that the food here is pretty good. I've known the men that cooks the food and he's been working for the restaurant for more than two decades now!. I recently found out that the tips that are supposed to go to him, part of that goes to the person that works in the back and also the tips that are given to him when paying up in the front with credit cards none of those tips goes for the cook either. Those tips goes directly for the lady that owns the place. So if you go there just make sure that when giving tips you give them directly to the person you want to give them to. read more

My one visit so far to the Mongolian BBQ was a bit of a revelation to me. I went with my fianceé at her suggestion, as she had been there a few times, but not recently. First of all, it's a buffet service, allowing you to choose exactly what you want for ingredients, only the ingredients are all uncooked/fresh. Your choices range through all the ingredients typical of stir-fry: vegetables like broccoli, sprouts, beans and baby corn; meats including beef, pork, chicken and shrimp; noodles; and sauces including soy, garlic vinegar, sesame oil, spicy oil etc. There were probably 3 to 4 dozen ingredients all together. You load whatever you like into a bowl (or two) and take it to the cooking station, where a fry chef prepares it for you in 5 to 10 minutes and piles it onto a clean plate. If it's crowded, there will be a line of folks waiting for the cooking station, but it wasn't the evening we went, so there was no wait. Also, there's a tip jar for the chef, and I left $3 for him. Then you adjourn to your table and try to eat everything your eyes told you you could, in spite of what your stomach begins to tell you about being too ambitious. Here's the thing to remember: you're charged about $12.50 for your plate, regardless what and how much you put on it, but they don't provide take-out boxes for your leftovers, as that obviously would encourage customers to double up on amounts and ask to take home everything they couldn't eat. I fell victim to my own enthusiasm and put too much on my plate, only then noticing the signs that said, basically, "No leftovers; eat everything here please." So I was a little embarrassed toward the end of our meal, but figured out that I could just have them weigh my leftovers and charge me for them too. That will cost you $5 to $6 a pound, a very good deal. So, my strategy now is to prep a more modest amount I can finish while I'm at the restaurant, and if I want more, go back to the buffet for "fresh seconds" I can pay to take out. That said: here are some final impressions. Cost/value: cost is modest, and value very good to excellent, for both sit-down and takeout. I'm sure you improve as the "ingredients chef" the more you go, so if your meal isn't spot on the first time, well, practice makes perfect. Atmosphere: family owned and operated; clean but nothing fancy; it is in a strip mall, after all, so don't expect luxury. Service/staff: very good; the lady owner was gracious and funny about my "leftovers faux pax," and happy to weigh and box up everything we couldn't eat, which added about $5 to our total bill of $29. My favorite thing about this restaurant, aside from the novelty of choosing all your ingredients so you get exactly what you want, was the owner's outgoing nature and sense of humor. She made us feel like part of the family, and that's a big plus for me. We will be going back. read more

This place has the most delicious, hot of the grill BBQ anywhere in town, hands down. I have been going here for more than 20 years because I just haven't found anything comparable. Still have some of the same staff! I think I've tried all the other Mongolian BBQ places around town (Portland/Clackamas/Tigard/Beav/Hillsboro) and NOTHING beats this one. Really rude waitress when telling me where to sit, I only asked since no one greeted me when I came in. Got called in to work and only had time for the egg flower soup, completely ripped me off charging me $8.99!! It wasn't even that good. This is a BUFFET. I love a good mongolian BBQ, and had to check this place out. So far I checked it out 3 times! It's nothing fancy but the food is good and the staff is friendly. My first pass at the grill didn't go so good and the meat was dry, burnt, and flavorless, so I adjusted my sauces and found a great combination that came out awesome. If anyone is curious my favorite mix is a little cilantro, a little green onion, whatever meat/veggie combo and then the following scoops of sauces/oils: 1 sesame, 2 hot, 1 lemon, 2 garlic, 2 soy, 1 sugar. Soooo good! I have a few gripes, but nothing major. I wish they had a bigger veggie selection like mushrooms, water chestnuts, or tofu. And sometimes the staff is a little lax in bringing out rice to go with the grilled goodness. Meat and veggies are always fresh and tastey. I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could, but can't justify 5. For $7.95 you cannot beat this place. read more

Stop here for dinner almost every time we are on the west side. Love that you can fix your bowl however you like with plenty of options for meat, veggies and sauces and the cook (who has worked there forever) sautées it up right there. Much better than Chang's. read more

We went there at around 4pm on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was completely empty. We were offered soup, and we chose hot sour soup. It tasted gross. It was too salty to swallow. At the food bar, there were not many options to choose from. Just like the previous review said, the food was burned and tasted bitter. It was very difficult to eat. For the price ($12) per person, it was not worth it. I would go to the newly opened buffet in the same strip mall which also has a mongolian bbq type cooking station, and also has much more food options and much more fresh food. read more

Been here twice now and I will continue to come back. I love the fact that they offer to-go style Mongolian...such a rare find and they should definitely keep it up. The food is very reasonably priced and seems to be pretty decent quality. Both times I have been here have been during the week on the typical lunch hour and the place didn't have very many people in it either time. Give it a try! read more
