new rear and front brake pads installed. 2000 miles later, I noticed poor braking. I looked at the brakes and the rear pads were only touching about 1 inch of the edges(s) of the rotors. When I returned, I was told by the manager that I should have replaced the rotors at the time of the work. this is of course ridiculous since the vehicle was inspected only two months before the service. I had the brakes and rotors h!need at another shop who commented that only an inch of the rear pads was touching the rotors because "one wheel had the retainer clip in backwards and the other had no retainer clip at all. They further commented that the job looked like "a monkey did the work...". I went back to Monroe and asked for a refund and for Monroe to reimburse me the cost of the rework.. manager said he had to send pictures to HQ for an answer. two months later and !after 12 calls, no response. read more

Stopped by to get my vehicle checked out. I've had 3 warning lights on my dashboard lit up for months, and I figured it was time. The employee explained to me upfront what the cost would be for them to diagnose and figure out what would be causing this issue. I am always weary of going to car shops because I know nothing about cars and I'm a woman, one who could easily taken advantage of in situations like this. Well, they gave me a call to let me know that the issue seemed to be resolved with a quick break fluid top off. They did not charge me the labor/diagnostic charge at all. I could not believe it!! They were kind, quick and honest! I will definitely be recommending this location to anybody looking to have their car looked at/repaired. Be careful! Apparently we're at a point that if you go to a shop like Monro, you have to take pictures of your car before and after. They damaged the skirt on my car with their lift, tearing it in one place and spidering the paint at the other spot the lift makes contact with the car. The tech clearly lifted the car incorrectly. OK, I noticed that a few days after so I went back to the shop where the service manager was pleasant and acknowledged it was lift damage. He took pictures and they issued a claim with their insurance. Well, that claim is denied as it was a few days after the incident that I noticed the issue. What a joke! They also impacted my lug nuts on so tight that they were stripped and I had to purchase new nuts where they did work removing the tires. Absolutely unprofessional and the complete opposite of my experience going to a smaller local establishment after this incident. read more

I was asked to come back the next day same time. So I went the next day. There was no appointment for me. There was Noone waiting for their vehicle. My 2 year old brakes were vibrating, somI took it to Monro who installed them. The technician took it for a ride and then removed the tires to inspect the brakes. Mark, the store manager, told me my brakes and pads were good, it was my rotors that were warped. He said it was impossible to tell which rotor(s) was warped so all 4 needed to be replaced to the tune of $675. After paying, I came home and googled "how to tell if a rotor is warped" and came up with a very easy way to tell. I've been scammed, and will not be going back. read more

That's why it was refreshing to find Monro Muffler/ Break located on North French Road in East Amherst. This location is under new management and they seem determined to make customer service their top priority. Larry, the assistant manager indicated that with so many choices for car service, his manager, Mr. Nemanja wants to insure that customers keep coming back. From time to time they run specials on oil changes that are below most other locations. They can handle most car service and it is nice to know that their work, price and service should set a bench mark for other locations. read more

To update my past review, I called the shop giving the person I worked with the benefit of the doubt. Two technicians, one of which was the one who actually worked on my car, agreed that the suggestion of a wheel alignment was not what would have been suggested for a high speed wheel wobble, and could not give a yes or no answer on whether or not the salesperson was trying to take advantage of what he assumed was an unknowing customer. Real shame as the work done in the service bay was very good. It's as if they keep trying to shoot themselves in the foot. When I went to update my review based on my experience with customer service, I saw that two new 5 star reviews were posted. Both by people who worked at the store, and one who the person whom I filed my complaint against. Bad sales is one thing, but trying to mislead customers is something completely different. read more

Came here for an oil change since I had a coupon. I made an appointment and was told it should take about 40 minutes. Sat there for 30 minutes, playing on my phone and reading some magazines before my mom showed up on her way home from work. We went across the street to grocery shop and the employee told me they'd give me a call when the work was done. It took at least another hour before my car was done. The place was hoppin'! I understand that things get busy and people stop in unexpectedly, but businesses should prioritize services for those who make appointments. Overall, I was pleased that they rotated and filled my tires (included with coupon), and that I had Tops across the street to entertain me while I waited but I was disappointed that I had to wait that long. I'll probably be back though considering that this is close to home and the web seems to always offer a $19.99 coupon. But my car smelled like farts when I finally got in to drive home. Reading the previous reviews after being displeased over a recent repair appointment confirms the stores continued problem with completion time estimates. Dropped off my car at the start of business Saturday morning. I was told someone would look at it as soon as people got into work. I called at 9:00 and was told they were just writing it up and would get back to me in 15.minutes. At 10:00 they called estimating 6 hours worth of work. I had them proceed. I showed up at around 3 to check in and was told of staffing issues and that it was substantial work. It probably would not be done today. At 12:00 Sunday morning with a second driver available for pick up I called and was told it would be 2 more hours. I told them I needed it at 2:30 and was told it would be ready. Arrived at 2:40 with a second driver for pick up and the car was still in pieces on the lift. Manager said it will be ready in 15 minutes. When I asked for confirmation, he shouted into the shop and was told 30 minutes. Returned in 45 minutes without a second driver just to pick up the keys and the car was still not done. As I watched them frantically scramble to assemble my young daughters wheels and brake system, I went to the open garage door and told them please take their time because my teenage daughter would be the driver and I needed her safe above anything else. I told them I would be back after hours with a second driver and paid the bill (it was discounted from the quote). I picked up the car at 9:00 Sunday night. It was finally done. I would typically think it was a bad day. But reading previous reviews it seems standard operating procedure. Note to self, read the reviews prior to making other appointments with other companies. Note to this branches Monro Muffler future customers, call before you attempt to pick up your car at their estimated time of completion. read more

And I could give this place zero stars if I could. I ran my car into the curb on the very snowy and icy road. They supposedly fixed my axle and aligned my wheel. They charge me an astronomical amount of money. And then they charge me storage at the amount of $175. I had to speak with the headquarters to get a refund. They said that they apologized and that the way they conducted business was absolutely unacceptable. I would never recommend this place. Maybe try to go to a family owned place where they have better values. read more

I made an appointment three days in advance and arrived on time, but I waited for 1.5 hours and found that they had not even started working on my car yet! I took my car and my wife's car here for a state inspection. I made an appointment three days in advance. According to the appointment, the two cars will be inspected back-to-back: we would drop one car at 12pm and exchange it with the other car at 1pm. We do this because my wife is pregnant and we have to take our 3 years old daughter with us all the time. We arrived 5 minutes before 12pm. There was no customer waiting in the room. The manager did not say anything about the possible delay. I thought the work would be done pretty fast. Then we dropped one car and drove the other car for grocery shopping. At 1:05pm we drove back and found they had not even started working on the first car yet. The manager told me they would started working on my car in 15 min, one and a half hours later than the appointment time!!! The manager's attitude was terrible. He felt this was very normal in their business and it was not their problem! I was very disappointed and decided not let them work on my cars at all. I understand that the service we requested is not high-profit, but businesses should treat all services equally, not to say the services for those who made appointment several days in advance! read more

These guys are in it to make money. End of story. Customer service and integrity is not on their list. As a backyard mechanic, I know my way around cars and know how long it should take to do certain jobs. I went to monro to have my struts changed because I don't want to be working out in the cold and I figured they'd be reasonably priced. Wrong! I was charged $800 for parts and labor. I told them I'd buy the parts myself (exactly the same stuff off Amazon for half the price) and asked how much labor would be to install it. $650 including some "discount". It was supposedly going to take them 7 hours to change out 2 struts. I left the place and changed my struts in 2hours. I kinda took my time because It was rather cold outside, but stil. I did it in two hours with it shop tools. Granted I had to buy a $40 tool to do the job. But hey, I saved $600 rather than having them do it... go there for an oil change if you have too, or an alignment. Never go there for anything else. Do it yourself or find a decent indie mechanic. read more
