I was here to do the CT Emissions test and unfortunately I didn't know you can't do it on Sunday. I'm new to CT so didn't know this. The girl at the desk and the tech with her were awesome explaining how it works here in CT! I'm even set up to be back later to get my emission done later in the week. Beware of this place! I stopped in due to a slow leak in one of my rear tires for the last couple of months. I asked if they could repair the tire. The guy looked at me funny like I was annoying him. He asked, "where's the tire?" a couple of times. As if it wasn't on the car I just drove up in. He came out to give a very quick look at the tire and said he couldn't find any problem. Really? I asked if he could check it with water since it's obviously low and has a leak. I can't believe I had to tell him how to do his job. He drove it up on the lift and used a spray bottle and found a small nail but said it wasn't repairable because it was too close to the tire side-wall. I said okay can you give me a quote for a new tire? They started looking at the other rear tire and explained that even though both had great tread, the very minor cracking indicated it could blow at any moment. Okay so quote me two tires please. At this point I've already decided we're not doing business. They quoted me over $500 and threw in a wheel alignment which they said they always do when replacing two tires. I said that is a lot of money! A wheel alignment for replacing the rear tires? Now I understand why the Firestone next door was packed and this place was dead. It felt so scammy. I finally asked if I could at least put air in the tire and the guy kinda snapped back, it's just gonna leak out again. Wow! I don't know why these guys had such a poor attitude. I tipped the guy $5 because I appreciated his time but sorry, never going back there again and wouldn't advise anyone else to. It's so easy to be friendly and honest and try to give your customers a sense that they're getting a good deal and good service. Definitely need some training in good customer service. If they gave me a reasonable price for just the one tire I cared about they would have made a sale because I just wanted it done. Instead it was just an awkward situation I couldn't wait to get away from. read more

One of the WORST experiences. Ever. Car was running FINE until I brought it there. After oil change, they NEVER took responsibility that they did NOT add 5 gallons. Not even close! My car is NOT leaking and it is NOT burning oil. At all. Idiots nearly ruined my engine, after the oil change, tons of toxic smoke began pouring through the heater!!! Trying to blame ME for adding an extra half quart of oil??? Disgusting beyond words. They should SHUT DOWN this garbage dump. Customer service woman was also the rudest,most hideous condescending creature I've ever spoken to. After enjoying this place, trusting them, bringing my cars here for 5 years, suddenly they turn into a grotesque danger zone . Wow. They treated me like PURE GARBAGE. There are definite problems with some aspects of the service given at this location. I asked for an estimate once and it was refused. After I reluctantly agreed to have the service done, the part failed. The last time I went there, on the way home, I lost my brakes and came within two feet of hitting a school bus full of children. Customer service skills were poor. I have been a loyal customer since 2019. I brought my first car here for an oil change and have been coming here since then, but I was very disappointed with Joey at the front desk during my recent visit. I made an appointment online but was denied a service when I got there; no curtesy call and did not even offer to reschedule my appointment. He was just not very accommodating at all, did not know how to greet customers in a friendly manner and when I finally came back to get my service done and asked him questions about their recommendations, he did not care to help me understand better. I understood he wasn't the mechanic that looked at my car but he could've been more helpful rather than just telling me, "I'm just telling you what I was told!" Maybe he wasn't having a good day but this was the second visit that I interacted with him. I also noticed how he approached the other customers while I was there, all I can say is that he needs to work on his customer service skills. It sucks before I really liked Monro before all of this, like I said I was a loyal customer. I will make sure to let friends and family know as well. read more

I only gave one star because I had to in order to post this review. Otherwise it would be zero. Dropped my car off for an oil change - a 2016 Subaru Impreza with 47,000 miles. Tech didn't know what he was doing and drained my transmission fluid. Once he realized his mistake, it was too late and my car was throwing codes, making grinding noises, bucking etc -- could not drive it out of the parking lot. Employees there insisted it was coincidental and my transmission blew all by itself. It took two+ weeks of phone calls with Monro's insurance adjusters, appraisers, my attorney, the car rental place, and my car dealership to get their damage fixed and paid for. I'd rather plan my own wedding all over again than deal with resolving this absolute nightmare they caused and never accepted blame for. Oh -- and they refused to refund me for my oil change, too. The tech that almost destroyed my car is inexperienced and the manager is deceitful at best. Save your time, your money and potentially your car and GO ELSEWHERE. read more

Been a loyal customer for 3 years at this location and twice now I've made an appointment and I get there and they tell me they cannot service me and always a different excuse. Why make an appoint if you can't fulfill it and nit even a courtesy call, so I don't waste my time driving all the way there to be turned away. They have lost my business. read more

STAY FAR AWAY Took my Car in for a rattling noise coming from the muffler, the wielder (who was an hour and a half late to the appointment, clearly hungover) takes the car, quickly lifts it and lowers it, tells me every exhaust hanger except for one is broken, said he'll need to replace the entire exhaust for $340, and with two hours labor total cost will be $700. Drove it down to the Midas 5 minutes away, they lift the car, call me over show me a crack in the resonator and a single hanger not attached. They replaced the resonator and welded the hanger same day for a total of $505. I called Monro back to tell them their wielder essentially tried to scam me the guy hangs up on me, clearly he's in on it. These people are crooks, stay away. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE....We use to live in Bristol and that was our go to place where we trusted everyone there. Which is why we only went there.. We now live in RI which is an 1hr and 25 min drive.. Had an appointment to bring my car to get brakes done at 8am when they were supposed to open.. waited there and finally around 9:15 the manager came rolling in.. Was met by manager. Told him I needed brakes done on car. He said ok, give us a few we will get it done. As I'm sitting there waiting for my brakes to get done I'm listening to this manager complain about money missing from the drawer and blaming his staff for taking it ect. First he said he had the deposit in his possession and then he left in drawer. I have no idea. I suggested to call the police and he said o no can't do that. Then I had to listen to him complain about his staff and how bad they are. He received a phone call from his district manager and then got off phone only to say he told him he quit but that the DM promised him stuff so he's staying. Stuff that I truly don't care about as a customer. So keep in mind I was there at 8am.. it's now 12 noon brakes still not done yet. The manager ordered the wrong set. So he had to get right set. Ended up sending his guys to store to get right set. Came back and still wrong ones. It was now 2 pm still nothing. Manager came back and said put old ones on send him on his way I'm not doing this. At that point I was like 6 hours into it and brakes not done and manager did not want to at least go somewhere else to get brakes for me. He was more focused on leaving to have sex with his girl apparently than to stay and do his job.. Manager came in and said to workers I'm leaving I have to go take a ride. He said we are not taking walk ins just the two appointments. The techs are like he always does this and were left with nothing to do.. He had customers sitting in waiting room complaining and he just up and left like he owned the place. Mind you at this point I've been there for 7 hours and car still not done. Manager was gone. One of the techs stepped up and said omg I'm so sorry for all of this and you waiting here. The manager does not care but I would like to help. They sell the brakes up the street for $50 cash. Go buy them and I'll put them on for $50. So we did that just so that I'm not leaving with bad brakes. Within 20 min my brakes were done. Talking to techs there found out the manager does not care about his associates at all.. The manager lives there and has random people there all the time. He apparently uses the company van as a personal vehicle so when he leaves half way through the day he takes it. All I have to say his what a joke this experience has been. He's got two really good techs that go above and beyond I believe there names are Jeff and Pete. They don't deserve to have a boss like that. I was also told by the techs that the manager will credit him self for the jobs that he does so he gets the money not them. Both these techs said they don't get there money that's earned. At this point brakes are done and I'm leaving its now 4pm when I left just for brake pads only. Will never go back ever. YOU JUST LOST A GREAT CUSTOMER. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIRE THAT MANAGER AND GET A HOLD OF THAT PLACE ASAP. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would. On May 23rd 2023 we went here due to a rattle on my Subaru which I knew was the heat cover... I asked what they could do and was told to get clamps and they could put them on. So we were satisfied and asked if they could help with our Ford Fusion that had a shifting issue and wanted the same individual Jose. Jose told us he was off on 5/24 and 5/25. We agreed to have the car towed there by AAA on the evening of 5/25. Jose was due back on Friday. So my husband called first thing Friday morning only to find out that Jose doesn't come in until 10. So I called back and spoke to Jose who told me cars were ahead of me and this could take time but he would get to it. Keep in mind they knew 2 days prior the car was coming in so not sure how cars got ahead of me. We live close by and driving by during the day the car had not moved so we stopped in around 3 and still hadn't moved. We were assured by Jose he would look at it and call. Closing time came and went no call and the car never moved. So my husband called Saturday morning and Jessie answered and said Jose wouldn't be in until 10. I called right back and asked if the car was brought in at all yet and Jessie told me no.. so I asked if there was a charge and he said no.. so I informed Jessie that I would be having the car towed somewhere else.. Jessie said fine.. then 20 minutes later I get a call from Jessie saying Jose looked at it and would be letting us know at 10. So we showed up just after 10 a.m. only to find out Jose wasn't coming in until 11. So we waited and went on with our day. I called to get an update around 1 and was told Jose just got in I said ok. Then Jessie called me back and said Jose was refusing to work on the car due to we called too much... the assistant manager told the manager this..? So we had to pay 95.00 to tow the car 1 mile down the street and Dave at Midas was able to have it fixed before 5pm when the closed and said anyone who opened the hood could have seen what was wrong!!! Jose should NOT be in a management position and Jessie should be able to manage his workers. read more

Got in a minor accident and brought the car in. They "looked" at it and said that all the damage was cosmetic and the fluid levels were unaffected. Lo and behold, upon driving home over-temp alarms started blaring and what was initially radiator damage ended up warping every component in the engine, totalling the car. Not saying these guys actively screwed me over, but I'm thinking it very loudly. They are lucky I didn't sue. read more

I had an pleasant and amazing experience with them. The manager was kind and explained everything to me with the pros & cons of each options. I made an appointment for an oil change with a tire rotation. But it took them 1 hour and 50 minutes to get me out. My car sat there with no one working on it for almost an hour. There was only one other car in there. When I asked how much longer, the mechanic who had been standing behind the counter for 30 minutes said "I just got the part" and walked out. 5 minutes later my car was done. Almost 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. I'm not even going to mention the hundreds of dollars in up-sells. I'm never going back there. Other places treat you with respect. She noticed a spot under car and has to keep adding oil worried brought to bmw they said no problem just make sure where u get your oil changed they make sure the filter is seated next time....will try again but this company better be u... left a call no Took car back and the manager Ricardo was very professional looked into it and seemed to be manufacturers mistake and fixed it right away.. I had a 10 am appointment for an oil change. When I got there they took my car right in after trying to get me to buy the more expensive oil. No thanks. An oil change that shouldn't have taken more th an 20-25 minutes took them AN HOUR. They were not working on any other cars. Finally when they're done, he tells me everything on my car looks great but he really wants to fix these 4 things on it and the total would be about $400. I said no and payed my 18 dollars then left. About 4 hours after I'm home, I get a call saying they forgot to put a part back on my car. Seriously? I'm only going to midas and valvoline from now on. read more

I know, in general, one should be wary of chain car-repair shops, but I have to tell you that this place almost screwed me over TRAUMATICALLY. They told me I needed to get a new engine, that I should just take my car to a used-car lot and try to sell it, that everything was broken and would cost up to $3,500 to fix. I took it to Hamelin and Sons down the road, who told me everything was fine with the engine. They cleaned my throttle for $75. I will never, ever step foot into this garbage hellhole again. read more

I went to Monro one night after work for an oil change. The next morning I was driving to work and my oil light came on. When I got to work I checked the dip stick and it showed that there was no oil in the car. I called Monro and they told me to bring my car back down there. When I got there they checked and said whoever did my oil change forgot to put oil back in the car!! I didn't get an apology and all they said was that I didn't have to pay for them to put oil back in my car. No shit! I should have gotten a refund for the night before! I've been going to this location for the past 4 years. About 6 months ago I stopped coming when the previous manager made no attempt to help me with a concern about something his mechanic did to my car. I actually only went back recently out of desperation of getting an oil change last minute because my I had a road trip. However, when I walked into Monro that fateful day and met the new manager Ricardo it all changed. He knew I was desperate and made accommodations to fit me in immediately. He was so courteous and professional. He really cared and had a sense of urgency. This was by far the best customer service and he is a wonderful manager. Monro should be grateful to have him as I have had many dreadful encounters with numerous managers at many locations. The business is only as good as their people. I have an older car so I am a loyal and returning customer. I will be sure to go to the Bristol Monro every time and I do hope that Ricardo gets some recognition. Thanks Ricardo!!! read more

WRONG DIAGNOSIS! I went to Monro of Bristol for an Oil Change and check the loud noise infront passenger side. After oil changed, Shawn Kilduff(Manager) came to me together with the estimate worth $483 and he said the axle(CV shaft) is causing that noise. So i set an appointment and when the axle is done, he said he has to change the Tie Rod In that cost $257.35 because he cannot align the tire, so he changed it. Now while paying my bill I asked the mechanic/casher if the loud noise is gone and he said "actually the strut is causing that noise" and i said what?! I'm so upset. So I drove my truck with the same problem. What i did is watch YouTube purchase a strut thru Amazon and change it now it's running good. Oil change is fine but when it comes to other service like parts i never recommend it. read more

Terrible place, we absolutely not recommend anybody ever going here. I took my car in for an oil change, and they tried to charge me close to $139 for it. Then I had a simple serpentine belt that had to get replaced that they tried to charge me well over $120 for. You can get the same part over at AutoZone for $20. As I was leaving, one of the mechanics came out to talk to me and offered to do the job on the side. Extremely unprofessional place I would never go back. I also know a little bit about fixing cars because as I went through school I worked at a dealership, so I can sniff out when I am being taken advantage of. Just be careful. read more

This place and the owner josh are rude, disrespectful, dont do tire rotations when asked, and cheat ppl out of their money. Ive gone for 4 times and josh has been rude to me for no reason. He tells me to pick up my car at 6 and calls me 10 mins early yelling at me that i didn't pick up my car. Very unprofessional when im a returning customer! Im not surprised about these other bad reviews. Im at midas right now and they are polite and awesome! Def. make the change if u haven't! Also josh has ripped me off in pricing out fixing my car one day he gives me this ridiculous quote and then i take it somewhere else and its way cheaper! Also numerous times i ask for my free tire rotation and they dont do it! Im not stupid and called them out on it. They just take it in and my car spends more time in the shop. I wish there was a way to leave negative stars.... Let me explain: I brought my car to Monroe for a simple rear brake change. I should have known something was amiss when the salesman came out and told me that to change one rear rotor and both sets of brake pads it was going to cost close to $400!! Due to the fact that I was in a rush i opted to let them perform the service. BIG MISTAKE. First off, the tech. broke two bolts for the caliper on one side. Ok, mistakes happen. Then, 3 hours later they tell me that they ordered the wrong rotors and need to go back to the store. I dropped my car off at 1pm and the salesman told me it would be done in an hour. SIX + HOURS LATER.... no car. Its now well past closing time and I am currently sitting in the lobby still waiting for my car writing this review. I asked the gentleman if there was any way that I could be compensated for my time and he informed me that he WASNT GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR THEIR SCREW UP (breaking the bolts)?!?!?! Im still in awe about that part. Long story short, these people are CROOKS and very bad ones at that. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS, youre better off watching a YouTube video and doing the job yourself. I wouldnt be surprised if the brakes completely fell off the car a month from now (In which case I will post an attached review haha). read more
