My 85 year old grandmother has leased two vehicles in a row from Bob Johnson in Leroy…read more She just took her car in for NYS inspection, she likes going to the dealership she leases from. The car is just two years old and has 7,000 miles. She picked up a nail in her tire unexpectedly, it was holding air and she never knew until a tech pointed it out to her. She asked if it would still pass inspection and they told her no, absolutely not, and quoted her almost $600 for two tires mounted, but they didn't have them in stock and asked her to come back. They told her the vehicle was safe to drive, however. I heard this story from her and immediately phoned the service department and left a message. They did not call back in the 3 days before her appointment, so I pulled the nail myself and plugged it. It was on the flat of the tire, not the sidewall or the edge. It was holding air very well and I explained to my grandmother to call the service department and tell them her grandson had repaired the tire and she'd like her sticker, having already paid for the inspection. When she went into the dealership on her own (I was at work, regretfully) they pressured and bullied an old lady into purchasing one tire for a 7,000 mile old car with practically brand new rubber. These tires had already passed the tread depth check and the plug was strong, but when a mechanic tells an old woman she NEEDS to pay this money, she complies. I will be encouraging my grandmother to take the vehicle elsewhere from here on, and I want to get the word out that Bob Johnson in Leroy is taking advantage of elders.

Service and honesty have dropped off at KM. Was recommended there but apparently there is no room…read morefor new customers. Service takes WEEKS and is often done wrong or not at all. Bring your own parts and have a list (even if its one thing) because your vehicle will sit there for weeks until you get a call saying, "what was wrong?" Or "it's done" when it is not. Charged for wrong parts, jobs are continuously done wrong. They claim they want to save you money, but they want to see you coming back over and over for the same problem. When you're constantly taking time off work because KM has had your car for almost a month, or when you have to keep coming back because the job was done incorrectly, that's not saving money. It's racking up man hours that you pay for, when the job was simple and ANY OTHER mechanic could do it in a day or two, at KM you'll be charged exponentially because man hours are through the roof. And when you have to bring it back because it was done sloppily and incompletely this does not save money either. Do yourself a favor, find another mechanic or do it yourself.

This normally involves everything that is checked during a state safety inspection, but with additional checks on the functionality of the vehicle and its systems (electrical, cosmetics, etc). I requested an engine compression test, and was told it would involve more time, which was fine. What I received: 10 photos of the undercarriage and two lines about the seller being old and needing to sell. No start. No compression test. No other photos. No evidence anything else had been examined. Chris was polite and apologetic, and he did adjust the invoice, but I was left with no clear idea about the vehicle, despite paying for exactly that service.
