Staff is nice, but that's all this business has going for them. Spent $1k to get my entire exhaust redone from my cat back. I had to take the car back though, because it was mounted wrong and melted my bumper. Now I have an exhaust leak from a bad weld that's destroyed my o2 sensor and is gonna cost me another $300 to fix. I was a long way from home, Reno, NV. While driving through Hartford CT, one wheel on my trailer locked up completely at 70 mph. It was late Saturday afternoon the day before easter. While stranded on the interstate, I did a google search for repairs to trailers and axles. The first couple of places that specialize in these types of things, part of their names includes trailers and axles, said there was nothing they could do for me. I did a broader search and Monro popped up. The first store I called said that they did not have anyone that could fix it as I suspected a wheel bearing failure. However, he gave me the name of a different Monro store and I call them and spoke to the manager Mark. He was quite helpful and even though they were slammed, he told me to bring it over. They stayed open until I got there, but it now being Saturday night, he told me that they would not be able to get the parts to fix it until Monday. So he had me drop the trailer and promised me that his master mechanic Tim, would get me back on the road Monday. The wheel bearings were totally destroyed and the hub was frozen to the spindle. Tim was able to get it all part, find and pick up the right wheel bearings, seals, and races along with a new tire. As promised he had me back on the road Monday afternoon. 3000 miles later all is well. read more

I am newish to the area and there are so many auto services places, I didn't even know where to start and I'm so happy I found Mark and his team at Monro a couple months back!! I needed an oil change bad and I also had a vet appt for my dog right before the oil change, needless to say I ended up having to take my dog with me to Monro and I was going to wait outside with her, but Mark was so nice and invited us inside and also gave my dog treats he had stashed away there for the pups! He checked in on us multiple times and told me the real deal about my car, also gave me a deal. The bottom line is throughout my life I've been to so many auto shops and we all know how that goes, what to believe what not to believe, but to me this place was legit and I will be coming back here for all my car needs, thank you Mark and your team! My daughter had a flat tire and pulled into a restaurant next-door to Monroe muffler we call AAA took them an hour to get there and the guy came in a AAA car we told him ahead of time we did not have a spare he said he had to call a tow truck and the tow truck would take four hours to get to us we went next-door to Monroe but noticed on the door they closed at four. we ended up going back to Monroe and opened the door to the facility and went to the host I'm sorry I don't remember his name he was wonderful he said if we can get the tire off the car he would repair it for us even though it's off the hours. We told this to the AAA representative and he said he can jack the car up and take the tire off but he needs to take his jack back and he needs to leave he can't stick around and wait for the tire to get plugged which literally took 15 minutes because he said he had other people to get to. So we had no choice but to sit there and wait for four hours for a tow truck. While we were sitting there a woman that was in the waiting room of the Monroe came up to our window and asked if AAA was able to help us she stated her husband is works for Monroe. she said don't worry we will help you out so they took a car jack and jacked the car up took the tire, and fixed it for us after hours which they did not have to do. The woman that helped us was an angel she had such a hard last couple weeks and months but she was willing to help us out. There are still good people in this world. brought my car in for a synthetic oil change and tire rotation for the advertised price of $39.99, listed on their website. afterwards, i was told the oil change was $113.00. i reminded him of his $39.99 advertisement. he said they dont carry the synthetic blends advertised and that full synthetic oil is expensive and that my vehicle needed 8 quarts of it.. i told him his false advertisement got me to his place!! i told him my engine take 5 quarts not 8..he reluctantly dropped the price to $70. i had purposely marked my tires to make sure they rotated them. he actually commented that my brakes looked good, so i assumed he rotated the tires. when i got home i saw the marked tires had not been rotated. i am now thinking did he even change the oil? total ripoff! total false advertising!!!! i have reported this business to monro corporate office, the bbb and every other agency that investigates fraud/false advertising, which i can find! be aware, stay away and good luck! read more

I've gone to the Southington Monro about four or five times now for oil changes and brakes. I've been really impressed with the customer service, with the managers making sure I understand the work done, why it was needed, and breaking down the invoice. I especially appreciated them showing me on my car what the issue was with my brakes, which assured me that the work was indeed needed. I had my oil changed on 3/17/15, and when the wrong oil was recorded on the service sheet, the manager Andrew made sure to go pull the oil cans to show me that the correct oil had actually been used. And due to the slip up, he gave me a coupon for my next service (even though they had actually done everything correctly, just written it down wrong). This isn't the first time I've had their managers go that extra step, and it's that level of customer service that will keep me coming back. read more

Asked for a quote to repair my AC, was quoted $1,700 for a compressor replacement, evac, recharge and new seals. Thankfully went elsewhere for a second opinion, compressor was not bad, and was again blowing nice cold air for less than $200. Mark the manager, is patient, explains and shows the problems and the possible repairs based on your present budget, your time and the longevity of your car's life. Safety is important to them, so they won't do any "smoke and mirrors". If you need it, they will tell you..if you should think about it, he will tell you. Tim, or Big Tim as they call him, is the one I always go to if I have a question about my car. No question is too silly. You can trust them. They are my "Cheers" to go to for car maintenance. My wife and I stopped in Southington for a quick lunch on our way to a wedding in New Jersey from Boston last Friday. Our LandRover died taking a left back onto 84. We called AAA who towed us to Monro. Mark@Monro fought with various parts suppliers to get an alternator delivered for the LandRover over the next day. We rented a car to make it to NJ for the wedding. Even though LandRover's were not on the supported list, he and his crew had the car fixed on Sunday when we were returning home. We found the service and communication excellent with Mark and given our circumstances, were so thankful Monro is open 7 days a week! Caution.....if this was the last place to do repairs I would probably bring my car....but if I have options I will exercise my options. Manager, Mark is a wheeler dealer......total bullshit artist.....gives you half information and low estimates.....and then zaps you with a higher price....Monro offers coupons they are not worth the paper they're printed on. If you decide not to take heed of this message, please question your bill / invoice before leaving the premises. Mark and / or the manager does have the capability of reducing your price. After calling him (Mark) on his price and his free this and that.....he offered to make things "right".....Why did it have to come to that ? We spoke after I examined the invoice and he took off $99.00 for a service that he said he was giving me for FREE. Thank you ! Also he gave me a free oil change.... I'll never use it because I'm not going back to Monro Muffler here in Southington or anywhere else.... My girlfriend had her exhaust rust off at the hanger points on her mufflers in December of 2019. Its a Subaru, so of course everything is expensive to fix or replace. As we didn't want to spend $1500+ on a car we didn't plan on keeping for more than a year or two, we were hesitant to replace the exhaust. I expressed this to the guys at Monroe, and they were able to clean up the exhaust and reweld hanger points on the mufflers. This cost less than 1/3 of the cost to replace it all, and the exhaust is super quiet again! I know the ideal thing would have been to replace the exhaust, but it was right before Christmas and money was tight. We appreciated the work they did for us! Thanks again! read more

I really don't understand why an oil change takes so long. Every time I go to a Monroe I'm waiting forever. My apt today was at 5. I was here at 4:50 and it's 5:45 and I'm still here. They talk and talk and talk and never work on the cars. It's not just this location it's all of them. But this one takes the cake today. I'm literally the only one here and I'm over an hour into this apt. While I stare through the window at my car on the lift that no one is working on. Horrible. read more

I had the same exact issue with the oil change and tire rotation as the previous reviewer. I had a blow out on a tire so my front tires are a different brand from my rear (they have close to the same wear). When I checked to see if there were rotated after the car was ready, I noticed they were not. When I walked back inside to ask them to rotate, the service guy's reply was "it was not needed." Well, if that was the case, would you have told me before I walked out? My rears have a bit more tread (front wheel drive) so it was clear this was a BS excuse. I will never go back. read more

Took my car in at about 3:30- 3:40 pm. I went in tonight to get new tires. Came out at 7:00 fuming telling me there is a barring that needs to be change. The guy knew I needed to be in NY to pick my son up. He told me about this when he picked me up to get my car from his shop. What I don't understand 1. How come it takes so long to put 4 new tires on and 2. why didn't he let me know the minute he noticed it. I will never go here again and will let everyone I know to avoid this place. The manager Jason was very honest with us when we got new brakes. He runs a very smooth operation. We were very upset with Monro in Bristol after they hired a new manager who only wanted to rip their customers off. Bristol quoted over $1, 000 for brakes. We ended up paying less than half of that in Southington. We were pleasantly surprised with the Southington Monro and will continue to bring our business here. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. They tried to charge me $1200 to replace my muffler. I went to a different mechanic who charged me only $200 for the same result. Go here for the free inspection and estimate then go anywhere else to get the work done on your car. This place sucks. read more

dropped my car off for oil change and tire rotation... asked to make sure i was getting a tire rotation before I left my car to go shopping... and the manager said yes. Came back to pick up my car, paid for it, went to the stores down the street.. .and took a quick look at my tires..well, it wasn't rotated. Called back, manager said to bring it back and he'll check.. and it was indeed not rotated and the tech had lied about the tire depth measurements on the workorder.. How did I know? because I marked the tires before I left to be sure that it did get rotated and I don't get taken by some lazy mechanics. All the manager said was sorry, I'll make sure I'll address it.. blah blah blah.... no offer for discount for the next oil change.. nothing at all. What the manager fail to realize is, being a car repair shop, your reputation is the most important thing to your business... you allow your tech to ruin your reputation as a business.. Avoid like the plague! I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to tell people to avoid this Monro, maybe all of them, at all costs. I was using them for oil changes because they are reasonable in price, rotate tires (can't confirm they do it), and inspect the car for other services (whether those services are needed or not is another story). Last oil change (tried to up sell me the oil with additives and questioned me when I wanted the conventional stuff. How about because my maintenance manual says don't use oils with additives?) I was told my right CV boot was cracked and leaking joint grease and it needed to be replaced right away. I asked for a written estimate and took it to my local mechanic (Anthony's in Plainville). Asked them give the car a once over and let me know if they see any issues. Car came back clean with no work needed. Maybe not all Monro's are like this but they are 0 for 2 in my book (New Britain and Southington) read more
