Came last week on a Tuesday for lunch. Food was amazing. Had the meatballs. Baked clams and the filet or sole for lunch. Had such a good experience that I came back on a Friday just for the meatballs and it happened to be happy hour. I sat at the bar was greeted by the bartender allison and a really nice server. He had an Italian accent, but I don't remember his name. He was very pleasant and very sweet. He offered me bread. The bartender was worried about having a conversation with another employee, she had the nastiest attitude, I had no idea what I was ordering being that she never even gave me a menu so I said the side order of meat balls because it was just me. I waited 20 minutes for an order of meatballs, the "side order" of meatballs did not come with the ricotta that the meatballs came with when I had it as an appetizer prior that week. I asked her for the ricotta. She had the nastiest attitude and her energy was absolutely disgusting instead of me confronting her and saying something I decided to not, but I felt very uncomfortable. She then asked me if I needed a to go box when I was literally still eating. It was so awkward and I don't know what her issue was. There was literally known in the restaurant and it was 5 PM and I'm sure it was the beginning of her shift as I was the only person in the restaurant the food is absolutely delicious here, but I will never be back because of that horrible experience. Food was amazing - 14 of us (mini family get together) and every one of us enjoyed all of the food. David was our waiter/server - He is amazing! didn't hover He was professional and always there at the right time- everytime! Alison did it all! Hostess, checking in on our every need & helped serving and clean up. They all worked in harmony- fulfilling 14 peoples' every need with a a smile and again, just the perfect, professional level of service. I personally like being waited on (lol - who doesn't) - we are all so impressed with Monroe's of Westbury, Long Island. I was there last year with family and it was excellent; but this time I truly felt I had to share my experience. This time something was different .... I realized that the decor was even more upscale- very classy, warm, and so inviting- I live in NJ now but grew up in the 5 towns , LI, NY and my family was in the restaurant business. I still have relatives on the Island. I wish I lived closer to Monroe's- I'd certainly frequent the restaurant more. I ordered the 1st special announced by David: linguine with shrimp & scallops OMG, there wasn't a drop left on the plate. When I looked around my table - same reaction, full-bellied, happy people! The owner, Hoss, is a renown successful chef and really knows how to do it right! We loved the whole dinner, ambiance and the price was so reasonable that we had to look it over again to see if something was missed. We had every course- fresh fried calamari w/red sauce, eggplant rollatini- that had a special something rolled in, meaty chicken wings etc. wow it's Monday 11am and I'm getting hungry for Monroe's again. We just moved to the area and tried Monroe's and I have to say it's fabulous. The staff are attentive, accommodating and welcoming. The food is terrific; it's fresh and they serve large portions. Their pork chop is phenomenal and the largest one I have ever seen. The quality of the food is superior; and comparable to some of the finest restaurants we have eaten in. We thought it was as good as Blackstone's, without the high sticker price. I think it's a hidden gem and one of the best restaurants in Long Island. I was searching on-line for a restaurant on Long Island that had the best "French onion soup" and although not actually a ranking, an indication of how good it was at Monroe's appeared in many reviews for this Italian focused restaurant. The reviews were certainly well founded, as the soup was chock full of onions in a hearty and excellent beef broth, topped with delicious, melted cheese. I ordered a side salad to complete my light lunch, which was fresh and plentiful. I also tried a slice of their light and tasty focaccia. I certainly plan to return soon for dinner or perhaps brunch, to try more of their newly revised and updated menu. One of the owners and host, Dave, comes from a long line of successful restaurateurs and is most welcoming. They have parking, with a municipal lot nearby if need be. read more

I never give reviews but this was just necessary! This place has such hospitable and kind wait service it's a breath of fresh air! The brunch special is AMAZING! I should've taken a picture but the plate is 3 eggs (however you prefer), a giant pancake, hash browns and your choice of bacon or sausage in addition to coffee, tea or juice. This giant plate is only $13!!!!! If you want a bottomless mimosa, Bellini or Bloody Mary brunch they only only charge an additional $12! Most places sacrifice quality for quantity but not here. They're food and drinks taste as if you were overpaying somewhere else. Don't waste your time or money at any of those over priced Garden City "brunch specials", Monroe's does a phenomenal job for brunch- looking forward to trying other meals here!!!!! read more

Decided last-minute to eat dinner out with my husband on a Tuesday evening, and so glad we did. We were informed by our waiter that it was 'Taco Tuesday' and Margaritas were on Special! The Margarita was absolutely perfectly made. It was a real cocktail, not one of those artificial confections. Spoiler alert: I had two! Luckily, I have my driver,lol. My husband had the onion soup. Really, the best onion soup we've tasted in years. And he had the steak sandwich. He loved his food so much he's ready to go back. I ordered 2shrimp tacos, and a shrimp empanada. This was our first visit to Monroe's. They have a really good brunch special for $12.99. We decided to choose from the many scrumptious choices on the main menu instead. I had the poached eggs with avocado and salmon on multigrain. My daughter had the French toast with berries. We both ordered coffee which was delicious and chose bellinis (included with the meal). The portions were huge. I came hungry, but it is a lot. My daughter took half of hers home. The food was incredibly good. The server kept returning to the table to see if everything was okay. It was. The table got a bit cluttered. Had there been four of us rather than two, there might have been a problem. At some point, I think the owner came over to ask us if everything was okay. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable ( we looked at the entire menu). Three hiccups: The large screen TVs were a distraction in this pretty space. There was a surcharge 3.5% for using a credit card. I wouldn't mind, but we should have been advised before we ordered. Parking is in the back, but there is no back door. We will return. We had our holiday luncheon party at Monroe's. A party of 25. They were able to set us up at a single rectangular table. The service was EXCELLENT. The owner (Daniella) kept coming by to ensure we are all good. The appetizers were served family style. As some of our party wanted individual plates (Covid aware) they accommodated the staff with individual plates from the kitchen. We were never rushed, or urged to leave quickly. The food was underwhelming to say the least. The reviews I read caused me to book a holiday dinner reservation with a few old friends. Having grown up in Westbury, I was no stranger to the restaurant that occupied this corner prior to Monroe's revival of the iconic building. I had such high hopes as I awaited my visit that evening but they were very quickly dashed. The service was fine. The owner was very "present" but the chef must have taken the night off. Nothing came as ordered. Our steaks and burgers were ordered medium but came so well done, one of us refused to eat it. Oddly, while my steak sandwich arrived at the table with everyone else's meals, half of my meal was prepared medium while the other half was so overly well done it was tough and lacked any semblance of flavor. It should not have been served. No doubt the kitchen's timing was off this night. The "well" half must have sat under the warmer while the burger and the other steak sandwich overcooked. The drinks were not mixed by a bartender, that was obvious too. I wish I had a kinder review but it wouldn't be right. The ambiance was there, the server was very nice, the owner kindly doted on all tables but none of that ever makes poorly prepared food worth the visit. Hopefully - if you choose to check it out for yourself - your experience will meet your level of expectation. Had lunch here today with a girlfriend. Menu has a good variety to choose from, pricing is very competitive. The food was delicious. We both had the French dip sandwich -- the meat was so tasty and tender. My girlfriend, who is very picky about her food, and especially about her French dip sandwiches, really enjoyed the sandwich and actually said she would go back for dinner with her husband. I've come to this restaurant twice so far, once with my husband and the other time with a group of friends. Both of the times, the service and food was incredible. Place has a huge dining room and small bar, but the menu is clearly a Bar Menu? We were going to leave but were hungry so ordered, we were clear that my wife is gluten free (she has celiac disease) she ordered the steak sandwich on gluten free roll, they served it with a side of coated fries! (Coated fries are loaded with gluten) luckily we noticed it. Besides for the prices they charge they should be home made. There is a steak on the menu $100 for two, this place is 10 minutes from Peter Luger's that charges about the same. I have to say, this place was fantastic!! We decide to throw our daughter a graduation party at last minute. It was in 2 weeks and they already had other parties scheduled, besides it's a restaurant. Well they accommodated it perfectly!!! Non of the other tables over crowded one another, the place is spacious, bathrooms are beautifully done and the service was phenomenal. I loved loved their menu and how you can pick from different meats and appetizers for an event. Daniella was so sweet and helpful and is on top of her game. She manages everything and doesn't miss a beat. Our maître d' (which I give him this title, cause he deserves it) Jerry, was spectacular!! He made sure everyone has a drink, everyone has their meal, everyone is having a good time. He was awesome. Our party was 22 people and they have a great team of workers here and the food was delicious. From skirt steak and fish that was so taste, omg, I don't eat fish and I loved it.
