Four of us had lunch here on 1/19/20 and really enjoyed. Service was a tad slow, but the dishes were delicious. Ordered for the office and glad I did! There are many options! I absolutely loved the Tom Kha soup (coconut). They use good size shrimp and give a good amount. I had about 5 in my "small" portion: small is 16 oz, large is 32. I also had the naked shrimp salad, we shared calamari and spring rolls; Thai iced tea was very good. My food was delicious and (over) filling. Most of the coworkers seemed to enjoy the food. Prices are quite reasonable for Sherman Oaks. Quite satisfied with my lunch and would like to try some other dishes. My only complaint about the soup and salad is perhaps they could somehow strain the lemongrass out of it, and take the tails off the shrimps. I know it's important for the flavor, but it's awkward to constantly have to spit out inedible garnishes and shrimp tails while eating in a group setting. I will be back! read more

Came here for the first time with my friend the other night. This is her go-to Thai place (mostly for delivery) so I wanted to check it out with her! We came on a weeknight around 8:45pm and there was free parking right outside. I think it might be metered but because we came after 8pm it was free! This place is TINY. I think my friend mostly orders delivery because the restaurant itself is very small, and I could imagine parking being tough earlier in the day when it's more busy. The guy working there was pretty good. Friendly, quick and attentive. No complaints! Food wise, I got a Thai iced tea, which was pretty good. They have crushed ice instead of ice cubes. I'm not sure if I was just really thirsty and/or thought their Thai iced tea was good, but I finished it SUPER quickly. We shared the tom kha soup with tofu. It was good, but not the best I've ever had. Broth-wise it was a little thinner than I prefer, and there were also a lot more ingredients in the soup than I am used to. A lot of it was just leftover and my friend I just left it sitting in the bowl. Flavor-wise it was still great! The guy also said we could get it with either steamed or fried tofu, and I've never heard of getting it with fried. We ended up just getting steamed, but I thought it was unique that they offered the fried. I got their beef pad see ew and it was SO GOOD. Exactly how I like my pad see ew and I had no complaints. This isn't a complaint. This is more of a message I would like to relay to the owner of the establishment. I drove from my house to pick up a simple order of thai rice, not any specialty rice just a simple order of large Thai rice because that's my favorite item you guys serve. I told the guy working, that was all I wanted. He then told me he couldn't place my order because you require a $10.00 minimum when using a debit card. I would understand if a credit card was being used to make this purchase, but it blows my mind that you would reject business simply because they did not spend at least $10 in your establishment. I've been a loyal 2 year long customer sometimes ordering almost 4-5 times in a month, usually spending $25-$45 each time. Went a week ago to have dinner with my brother in law. Great food selection. I had the Kung Pao with chicken($8.95). It was delicious. So good that I took my wife there yesterday for lunch. This time it was Kung Pao with shrimp. The wife had the drunken noodles. Both dishes were outstanding. Something in the way they are seasoned. Monster Thai is delicious! I love the chicken larb and the monster tiger combo, and my partner loves the green curry. Their soups and appetizers are yummy, too! We prefer to order takeout since it's a little hole in the wall, and that seems to be their main business. Let's start here. I walk into the store. I am not greeted by friendly wait staff instead I find an empty cashiers booth. But needless to say I wait a few minutes and someone shows up. I am then seated and scan the QR code I do not know what that EOS and parentheses! What a QR code is. Then I order my dishes with the waitress. The service was medium fast but considering the amount of folks in the restaurant on the slow or sad. Calamari, pang nag, and in diet Coke. Calamari was very thick a little bit chilly but nice dipping sauce and good bread in the crust. Curry was very flavorful and creamy, and the Nast adversity of vegetables. I would've enjoyed more broccoli curry but I'll ask that is OK. I had a sip of my wife's Tallahasse tea and it was delicious I almost screamed. All in all a very good Thai experience. There are very few restaurants in LA where I get Thai food from, and this just became one of them. The Food is packed with flavor and the presentation is well executed. We ordered the orange chicken which was sweet but the right amount, also served with orange slices (I assume for aesthetics but we ate them anyway) Crab fried rice was served with a good crab to rice ratio, which is something I always look out for. Pad see ew was one of my fav dishes, meat was well cooked and noodles were full of flavor. The location itself is quite small, I believe only to be able to sit about 27 people. although the staff keeps it moving pretty quickly so ive never seen a line or been told to wait for a table. Décor is a bit strange, I assume the owner must be a fan of music because there are records and framed pictures of artist and bands along the wall. will def be back again, although if youre not a big fan of small places, I suggest trying their takeout. they have a minimum of $15, but as a side note, they are supper busy with takeout that their delivery times estimate 45mins - 1hr. 4 Stars not because of the food or service, but its unfortunate that they are overwhelmed with orders that it takes 1 hour for delivery. read more

HOLY HONEYED MANGO The tom kha chicken soup is the best I've ever had. If I've said that in another review, whatever, I'm riding the waves of severely, surreally, spasmodically delicious soup right now, people. This has been my favorite soup for many years now and I've had it in many different Thai restaurants--10? 15? 20? (though never in Thailand D:) I can't really eat piles of rice and noodles with my meals, so I cannot attest to any sort of other food here yet, except the TIT. What's that? Thai iced tea. Right. It's good--give it a stir and it's not sickeningly sweet, but rather strong. Of course I do have a cold right now, so my taste buds could be out of whack, but as for the tom kha, it still managed to make it through to my main taste receptor centrum. It included sliced tomatoes, which was quite a nice and rather unexpected touch! Flavor sensation! It also had sliced red onions, which is somewhat unusual. Oh and the chicken is like the chicken they have at Gourmet 88, not that dry old stringy nasty "soup chicken" that you're gnawing on for five years. Something I really loved about this particular version of coconut deliciousity what that although there was some lemon grass and a slice or two of ginger, there wasn't so much that I was constantly fighting through and spitting it out (only if alone, geez) it to get to my freaking food. I think they filter out most of the parsley, bay leaves, basil, etc. before serving it, to prevent this socially awkward and unpleasant situation. This my go-to place for Thai. They renovated and it still is smaller than my closet--but the food is GREAT. Great portions, great prices, great service. I especially like their spicy noodles, tom yum soup which i add glass noodles to, and panang curry. Ingredients are fresh! I'd rather eat at a mediocre place with great service than great food with poor service. This place is thumbs up on both accounts ,but gets docked a star for the actual eating area. There is no ambiance in the place--but since i'm always happy with my food and the person sitting across from me, it doesn't matter. Delivery can take a while since they're always so busy, but I order here at least once a week. :-) read more

As someone who works in the restaurant industry as a chef, I don't like to write negative reviews. I have been left with no choice at this point. This place USED to be the best Thai place in Sherman Oaks, with amazing customer service and food; sadly, that is no longer the case. The food is so-so, but the customer service is ABYSMAL. Last time I ordered here, they left me on hold for TEN minutes all the while I could hear them answering the phone and taking other people's orders - I ended up calling back again to place my order. When my order came, I had asked for extra peanut sauce, and they gave me none, AND the pad thai had NO sauce on it either. Today, I tried to call around 4pm to place my order - I was told that they were closed until four thirty. I didn't see why they couldn't just take my order and give me a longer turn around time, but whatever. Called back again at the time they told me, and they hung up on me. Then I call back again and the phone line is busy. The food is alright, I suppose, if you can ever get someone to take your order... I am really disappointed in this place. I probably won't be ordering from Monster Thai again. read more

Left my barber shop looking for a good soup since I was fighting a cold, saw Whole Foods and was about to head in but then I saw the monster Thai sign and parked. Inside is comfy and good vibes. Ordered a large dumpling soup with a pot of hot jasmine tea. Price was very reasonable and the flavor was . Server was very attentive and hooked me up with a nice amount of hot sauce for my leftovers ( thank you!). All in all it's a spot I'll certainly go back to, because once this cold kicks I intend to try out the whole menu! read more

We went through a phase of coming here just about every other weekend. Come here for the excellent lunch special deal, which features a side of their tom yum soup (dine-in), which is probably my favorite of all of the Thai restaurants I've frequented, for the myriad of vegetables they include (some days are better than others, but its usually very good). For your entree, I would recommend the cashew nut (your protein option), or the spicy basil (your protein option). This is not a great place to visit for a date or a special occasion - the dining room is tiny! The service is always pleasant though. Consider, for the sake of the environment, bringing your own little glass pyrex container to take the rest of your food home. Its more eco-friendly, yes? And this place is not pretentious, so you don't have to feel weird about doing that here. Get a frozato afterwards, from Hugos, a quick walk around the corner. read more

If you're wondering why this place is called 'Monster', it's not because the venue is massive. It's all of six tables. It's mainly the portions. They're pretty big. Came here to pick up some take out Thai and one thing I was impressed about was how they packaged the take out grub. A cardboard panel separated my entree from my girlfriends. And my Pad Thai came with foil underneath the entree. So transferring my entree from the foam container to my real plate was rather painless with very limited mess. Why can't more places be like this? It's all about the little things. As for the food, the Pad Thai had a lot of flavor going on. And a lot pf chopped peanuts. There was glaze everywhere and I wasn't complaining. My girlfriend's yellow curry? Might have been some of the thickest I've ever seen anywhere. Dense curry? A bit different to be sure. Service was good and overall it was good but I think I still need to check some other Thai establishments in area before we decide on our Valley Thai spot. read more

The food here is amazing. Actually, let me amend that slightly. I only ever get ONE thing here - the yellow curry with chicken and fried rice (mild, not spicy). I've been four times now, and I am afraid to try anything else, because I'm afraid I'll have missed out on that yellow curry awesomeness for something not quite as delicious. Seriously, it's amazing. The salad they serve as well has an incredible honey mustard dressing that is soooo tasty. I have to refrain from licking my plate, it's that good. Service is prompt and polite, and it rarely ever seems crowded in there. Maybe because no one has discovered that magic yellow curry before. I will definitely return. read more

This was my first time ordering from here. I called in for delivery. As soon I told the lady I wanted to make an order for delivery she goes, "It's going to take an hour and a half". I assured her I was okay with that.. "It's not going to come any sooner. 90 minutes. It's busy and I have a lot of people." Uhm... okay! I proceeded with my order, of which she interrupted several times to answer another phone. When my order was complete, the asks if I will be paying card or cash. I tell her card, and she responds with "No American Express" and hangs up. I almost wanted to call back and just cancel my order from her being so rude! Most places collect your card information over the phone, so I wasn't even sure how this would play out. An hour and a half went by and our food arrived. Unimpressed. I love the spices of Thai cooking. We order the yellow curry with chicken, combo fried rice, and seafood pad thai. The curry was not spicy and it was a very small portion. You also have to order the steamed rice separately, as it does not come with it. The fried rice was bland. There was no flavor at all. The pad thai was also unimpressive. $33 for three entrees, steamed rice, and 2 drinks. Price wasn't bad but the quality and rudeness will keep us from ordering again. read more

First let me start by saying that the food here is delicious, and they are pretty quick with delivery times. It was actually one of my favorite Thai places until 2 recent incidents. The first unpleasant incident was that my steamed dumplings were under cooked and doughy. When I called to tell them, they noted it in the system and said they would credit me on the next order. When I ordered again, instead of honoring the credit they said, "The note says to make sure they're cooked well-done." I politely explained to them that not only should they be cooked thoroughly, but that I would not be paying for them as it was their mistake. They complied... Today I ordered egg rolls. When I dipped them in the sauce I was horrified to find a long gray hair, covered in sauce, dangling off the end of the egg roll. My appetite was completely ruined, and needless to say I didn't finish my food. Who knows what else has been cooked with no hair nets, etc.? I'll pass... I do think they have a lot of potential, but I also think they're a bit careless and subpar when it comes to quality. :( read more
