Very good bakery here at Montclair! Been here a couple of times and always enjoy the donuts and croissants. But i need to work on coming here early as they run out quick with certain goodies. There was creme brulee and blood orange donuts offered today but i missed that. Oh well next time. They also have sandwiches and drinks. Outdoor seating is available as well and perfect for summers. Street parking could get full during busy hours but being that they are not located at the main street there is always a chance of finding one if youre willing to walk a few minutes away. I always enjoy a nice bakery wherever that could be. Monclair is lucky to have an awesome one. Will be back for sure! read more

This was my first visit since they changed the business name. We ordered online for pick up because of the rain. It worked out perfectly! The order was ready by the time we arrived. The sunshine glazed is surprisingly delicious, a refreshing twist on the classic glazed which is also yummy. The chocolate sourdoughnut felt overwhelming, and almost too chewy? The carrot cake doughnut was delicious but the filling tasted like pure cream cheese. It wasn't sweet at all which was a bummer! I'll be back for both glazed doughnuts! read more

Tried out an assortment of donuts as well as a corned beef and mushroom sandwich. My friend had a vegetarian quiche as well. The donuts were amazing tasting! They were so fresh, large, and full of good flavor. I'm really glad we tried a few of them. Favorite was the maple bacon! Covered in a generous amount of bacon and delicious maple glaze. My friend enjoyed his quiche and it came with a salad and vinaigrette dressing. The staff was very friendly and we were glad that it was warm enough to sit outside as they have no indoor seating. Here is my only complaint and I really hate that I had to make it. I paid $12.75 for the corned beef and mushroom sandwich. The sandwich was just two pieces of wheat bread put together with the ingredients inside. The ingredients were good but the sandwich was just so incredibly small. I was a bit dumfounded as the sandwich was just so small for the price. I really hated to make this complaint but I just can't justify that next time. The quiche was half the price and came with the salad. For donuts though, this place was excellent and it is worth making the trip! read more

Stopped here early this morning. Saw them making more donuts and picked up a chocolate sourdough donut with cold brew. I really like the sourdough donut- it's different more tangy & sweet. The donut is huge a lot bigger than their brioche donuts you see in the photos. The service was great. Chatted with the baker and there was someone new at the front who took my order. Also they have the milk options you can add on a side table including- cream, milk, almond milk and oat there. Next to it is free water you can get too. read more

Came here for some afternoon snacks and set my sights on the donuts on display. I got one and was not disappointed. Not too much more than a Dunkin' donut, but absolutely better. bigger, fluffy and sweet. It's excellent and will be sure to get two next time. I don't frequent bakeries all that often and it could be because there aren't a wealth of them that I'm aware of but this is good. Beyond the doughnuts there lots of sandwiches, croissants, pastries and more which I've not seen to that extent at others. They also have some unique juices and coffee to go with the goods. What I like is the outside seating. Plenty of it and really makes it a nice place hang out while enjoying your baked goods. This was my first visit to Rabble, the doughnuts were good but a lot of the flavors I was looking forward too were already sold out. I would recommend going earlier than 12 to make sure you get your pick. The doughnuts we got were good, light and fluffy. My only note would be the speed of service, We waited in line for about 20 minutes and it took about 5-10 min for them to box up the doughnuts. Would visit again! Birthday Cake - This was the worst one as it was way too sweet with the birthday cake frosting. Cannoli - This was my favorite one. The cream was outstanding along with the chocolate icing on the outside. Glazed - The traditional donut was appetizing, no complaints here. Pistachio - This was different, but there was not enough pistachio flavoring here I thought. It was plain. Fruity Pebble - The fruity pebbles were over a vanilla icing and surprisingly it was not too sweet. It was a good combination. All were very good but I have to go with the tres leches for the win. It had a buttery sweet taste to it. The sour doughnut was a unique flavor that I hadn't tried anywhere else. The donuts had. a good balance and weren't overpoweringly sweet. Also and the yum bun and cruffin. The yum bun is like a rolled churro. These donuts are the fluffier kind with dough that almost wants to be sweet bread like but stops right before becoming as dense as bread. I'm a fan of the friendly, polite, and quick service. At 7:45 am this past Saturday, there were already a few customers who came to place new orders or pick up online ones and I thought the staff was very pleasant. They have a walk up counter and on the left is a window with breads for sale and on the right are pastries like donuts. I personally found the most traditional, the glaze, to be the best, donut. The apple cider was my second favorite, albeit a bit dry. I did not like the filling or the chocolate for the Boston Cream and I did not like the lemon filling for the lemon donut. I thought overall, the donuts looked great and had a good weight but they were a bit dry and dense. The same goes for the yum bun. The croissant was delicious though. After hearing a couple of the orders, I would come back to try their breads. They also have a patio out front with heaters so if you find yourself waiting a few minutes, it's a nice touch to stay warm. They also have a special outdoor oven for pizzas. Another bonus is parking. The store is located in a pretty residential neighborhood so it's nice not to have to find street parking. read more

This will always remain my number one place for donuts. I used to come here all the time when attending MSU. So many delicious, homemade goodies if you're looking for a special treat for breakfast! The donuts are a little pricey but it is Montclair and they are gourmet donuts. However, they're worth the price because there's so many unique delights. This place is worth the drive. I don't live locally to this precious donut shop anymore, but I would gladly take the hike to enjoy delicious donuts. My personal favorite is the Nutella stuffed donut. Sugar overload; sinfully delicious. You'll need a detox cleanse after eating them, but hey, sometimes you just gotta treat yourself. Seating is limited here, and on a crowded day you may not be able to get a seat (from my last visit, seating was still set up as bar style). There's a few small tables to enjoy outside on a warm day. Donuts are best enjoyed fresh the day of, which is how I think you can tell they're the real deal. Come stop by and surprise your loved ones with a sweet treat! read more

Placed an order ahead online it was not ready when I arrived 5 minutes after pick up time despite the place being empty so early in the morning. The cold brew was awful and the spicy breakfast sandwich which was supposed to have jalapeños and no meat came with no jalapeños and bacon (the person eating it is a vegetarian). Owner is obsessed with complaining about Local government and nasty customers (somehow I am on the mailing list) - when focus needs to be establishing and implementing roles and responsibilities among her more than adequate untrained staff. I've asked to speak to the owner Rachel 3 times in the last 4 weeks- she's never there on Saturday- the busiest day of the week. I walked in & there was only 3 other people in the store. The cashier was very pushy and I felt extremely rushed and pressured to order. The store was darn near empty so why was she rushing me??! Anyway, I ordered 6 donuts and almost dropped to my knees when she told me my total was $18! WHAT?! I thought to myself- they better be worth it. Well, they were not. Glaze- They only put glaze on the top of the donut. The bottom part is dry and extremely bland. Skip it! Apple cider- Dry as sand and almost flavorless. Skip it! Fruity pebbles- My 6 year old took one bite and handed it back to me. It's a glazed donut with fruity pebbles sprinkled on top. He wasn't impressed and neither was I! Skip it! Tres leches- This one was actually not too bad but I was not blown away. The cream on the inside was tasty and not overly sweet. I suggest giving this one a try! Maple bacon- This one was also good but again- not great! Sweet and salty is always a good combo, so if that's your thing, you'll love this one. Nutella- HIT, HIT, HIT! I mean, it's Nutella! Have you ever had anything bad with Nutella on it? Doubt it! This donut is their saving grace! If I ever return, it will be for this one donut and that's it! First time customer, and probably last time too. Donuts were fresh but it took almost 15 minutes to have six donuts put in a box (after ordering). Apparently the cashier (who was lovely) only takes the orders, so we waited with at least six other customers for someone to come and box our donuts all while seeing the donuts directly behind the cashier. It's kind of insane that she can't box donuts to get people in and out the of the shop. It's quite $$$ to not have a more locked up process for serving customers. read more

My experience today: super friendly staff but very disorganized ordering process. Donuts and croissants are just not as good. My almond croissant was too big, too sweet and split open/messy for example. It was also rung up $1 more than posted on sign. Coffee was lukewarm and bitter. My first time here, not for me but a quick pick up for the holiday's Butterbeer offering! It seems as though it's a special & sold a pass online for the New Years & I decided to use this as a gift for a Harry Potter fan. The bakery is lovely driving up to it, I bet it's more active when it's warmer outside. Parking can be a bit tedious being nestled in a residual hub, but once you find a spot, it's worthwhile. It's a gorgeous rustic brick structure with what appears to be an oven out in the front. Inside is high ceiling & open air, you can see what's being set up with goodies in their steel shelves. The pretty delectables are set up shop behind a glass & they all are sparkling EAT ME! It is a must to return, I cannot wait to find my fav! read more

Overrated and overpriced. I've gone back several times to try and find something I love but after trying their challah bread, rye, brioche and Demi rolls, yum buns, chocolate croissant, and basically every donut, it's always just "ok". I feel like 90% of what I purchase is over baked and/or stale, even the day of purchase. I'm also extremelyyyy disappointed that I placed an order far in advance to pick up on Christmas Eve and when I arrived to pick it up, they didn't have the chocolate peppermint cake donuts, which was literally the ONLY reason I placed the order in the first place. First off, why couldn't they shoot me an email or quick phone call to let me know they wouldn't have my order beforehand, and secondly, what is the point of placing an order a week in advance if they're still not going to make enough to fulfill advanced orders? DO NOT SIT ON THE BENCHES OUTSIDE!!!! We went around 12pm on a Sunday. There was already a limited selection left but we were able to secure a chocolate croissant, pistachio doughnut, and chocolate hazelnut. It's been awhile since I had a fresh doughnut from a bakery and you could tell these were made same day. By the time we finished eating, around 12:45pm, they already closed the store (they're supposed to close at 3). I guess they completely ran out of stuff already. Loved the pistachio doughnut but I wouldn't get the chocolate hazelnut again because they're SUPER sweet. Chocolate croissant was amazing and i wish I got 4. HOWEVER, we decided to sit on the wooden picnic tables outside to enjoy the nice weather. Bad decision. I sat down, scooted over, and was IMMEDIATELY impaled by a million splinters from the bench. I was in so much discomfort I immediately got up and switched to a metal chair as I was picking out the large splinters that got trapped inside my leggings. My leggings were ruined from behind because it messed up the stitching (this was an expensive pair too!) and I felt so uncomfortable. After I got home, my friend spent 30 minutes tweezing splinters out of the back of my legs. The photo is only some of the splinters I had to pick out. I must've gotten like 12. It's been 6 hours and the back of my legs are still sensitive and uncomfortable. Anyways TLDR food was great but DO NOT sit on the benches outside!! Learn from my mistake/pain! read more
