Tried this place for the first time tonight. It is so adorable when you walk in. Everyone was very welcoming and inviting as we walked in. We did carry out, and it was still fresh and hot when we got it home. The food is good quality and the appetizers are amazing!!!!! The pizza is extremely filling, and I could only eat two pieces!!! Well worth it and I can't wait to take my kids to dine in

I love Monte Bello's pizzas! We got a large Meat Lovers pizza and it was delicious! It is a crispy thin crust covered in meats and cheese. It's not your typical completely round pizza, you can see and taste the love they put in what they do! The dining room is down stairs and it isn't gigantic. If you come during prime hours you may have to wait for a table. It's definitely worth it though. If you can't wait, definitely come back. You won't be disappointed.

A small pizzeria in the basement. Totally unassuming and you can walk right past it without noticing it. We sat down and the waitress told us the pizza would take 45 mins. We were wondering why thin crust pizza would take that long. Well, I still don't know why but I can say it was worth the wait. The texture of the crust was totally different from the normal STL style pizzas. Super crispy but doesn't feel like crackers. The homemade sausage topping was delicious. Lots of topping and a bit messy to eat... in a good way. Very filling. Two thumbs up!

Hey STL seafood lovers, for those seeking a pescatarian-friendly slice, I found you a spot #StLouisPescatarianApproved I got my pie topped with shrimp and jalapeños, and it was absolutely delightful! I love this crunchy thin crust! The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the jalapeños added just the right amount of kick without overpowering the other flavors. Montebello feels like a place that knows its pizza craft, and I'm so happy to have found it.

My husband and I were in the mood to try a new pizza place tonight and decided on Monte Bello after seeing it well rated in a video of STL pizza spots. It did not disappoint! It is in a casual spot, and we had awesome service. They do have an explanation on the table that their pizzas take 30-35 minutes to cook, but our drinks were always filled during the wait and we were able to enjoy some toasted raviolis during the wait. The toasted raviolis tasted homemade and had a good amount of meat in them. We got Montebello Special pizza and it was delicious. I appreciated the crunchy crust, the generous amount of toppings, and the delicious sauce. Overall, we came out with a lot of leftovers with a large pizza. We will definitely be back!

Visiting from out of state and we asked where's the best pizza take out? This little hole in the wall is such a hidden gem! Now pizza from St Louis is quite different from other parts of our country. Seems the Show Me State like their pizzas thin like a cracker. So let's try it! We ordered a cheese pizza for the kids, and they were not big fans, but they are definitely hard to please. We also ordered a Johnny B Good Large, and it was delicious! It's sorta crazy how they make these pizzas the same way they did 50 years ago even in the same oven. The pizzas are sorta square because they used a squarish pan. Must try if you like thin crust pizza! Wait times can be long, but we ordered and was ready in 30 min.

Love this pizza, great neighborhood joint! This family that owns the pizzeria now takes their business very seriously. They try to make every guest happy, treating them like family. The pizza is the same recipe but you can really taste the love that goes into their food. Can't go wrong here.

Made reservations for father's day right at 4pm when they open. Good thing we did because they fill up fast!! Our service was amazing, they don't leave you thirsty that's for sure. Appetizers were cheese garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, oh the cheese pull and toasted ravioli! Awesome starters!! We got cheese pizza, a chicken cordon Bleu, and a pepperoni, bacon and banana peppers. Awesome unique taste! This place is the oldest pizza restaurant in St. Louis, I get why they've lasted! Next time we'll definitely try something else! Keep up the great work everyone!! Love the red and white checkered tables, and the low lighting, very nice old world touch!!

Went there on Father's Day with our family of 4. We ordered appetizers because we knew it takes awhile on the pizza. Pizza was delicious and leftovers heat up nicely in a toaster oven.

In the mood for pizza. We decided to come back here. We tried the Meat Lovers before and it was really good. This time we opted to get the Chicken Cordon Blu pizza. It did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly! The service was good as always.

My wife and I were in St Louis on a weekend trip from out of town and I was trying my best to find where I should try The Lou's best St Louis style pizza and Toasted Ravioli all in one spot. Everything I read said to come to Monte Bello's, so that's what we did. We got to talk about the ambiance here first though. You open the door and immediately descend down some stairs to get to a low-ceiling basement with tables covered in red and white checkered table cloth..... and it was awesome! Felt like a round table meeting with all of St Louis' mob bosses was taking place somewhere where I couldn't see lol. So first were the toasted raviolis. I'm sure they are homemade but you can tell they're also frozen after being made from scratch which is perfectly fine, just probably would have been better if that weren't the case. I knew they were frozen because four my raviolis were still kind of cold in the middle. This is going to sound mean, but they tasted like Tostinos pizza rolls to me. They were just kind of bland on their own. The meat inside also had a very pasty texture. The only way to enjoy them was to dip them in their marinara (which is really good) and then sprinkle some parm on top of the marinara. But still, i was a bit disappointed. Ok Pizza Time! The large pepperoni pizza that we ordered definitely saved the day (despite taking an unusually long time to get to our table). Thin crispy almost cracker-like crust cut into random squares topped with that delicious red sauce and some super savory cheese instantly sent us to our happy place! PS the pepperoni was under the cheese. What a flavorful bite of pizza. Delicious. We absolutely loved it. And extra bonus, it was even moooore delicious cold the next morning, which is actually how I truly enjoy my pizza (I know, I'm weird). Come and get yourselves some of this pizza!!!!

Although claiming to have invented the toasted ravs, really did not enjoy them. Caprese salad was good for this time of year- early June. My go to meal to rate Italian restaurants is chicken Marsala, and was unfortunately the worst. Chicken was overcooked, rather tasteless and hard to cut. Very little sauce, but good mushrooms. Side of red pasta helped but was too sweet.

I was visiting St. Louis for the first time and I wanted to try foods that St. Louis was known for…read more(according to online research) and toasted ravioli kept popping up. Being from the Bay Area in California, I had never heard of toasted ravioli so I added it to my itinerary. I found this place on Yelp and saw that Guy Fieri (another Bay Area native) had featured it on his show so I settled on Anthonino's. I walked over from the Botanical Garden on a Friday afternoon around 12pm so that I could get a better feel of the streets, locals, surrounding shops, and the Hill neighborhood. The area was very calm, clean, safe and had a sense of pride. I enjoyed the sights and sounds throughout the streets and by the time I arrived at the front door, I was super excited to eat. I was seated quickly at the bar and given a menu and water. The bar staff were friendly and pleasant to talk to and also took my order within a few minutes. The restaurant quickly filled up behind me and it was a lively environment. I really appreciated that the TVs had sports shows on (huge sports fan and was in town to visit Busch Stadium) so it gives you something to look at. I ordered the toasted ravioli and a tiramisu. As a solo traveler, I have to limit how much I can order so this was the perfect amount for me. The food was amazing and I wished that I could have tried more plates. The ravioli had great flavors and texture and the tiramisu was so creamy and fresh. I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself. The customer service from all staff members was amazing! Thank you for this experience :)

I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.
