Service was quick. Oil change took about 20mins. They did a good job. Couple issues I had. 1. I had asked for oil change and air filter to be done. They only completed the oil change. The dude forgot to add to paperwork. 2nd thing I was a little iffy about is they told me I had an oil leak. Which seemed a little suspect just because I had read other reviews that they did the same to other female customers. Took my 2015 Dodge Durango for a standard oil change. As I'm dropping it off I hear 3 employees talking together. I overheard one of them say "that's him that's the guy", while looking at me. I was confused as I've never met any of them. Let them do the oil change. Durango starts making an engine noise about a month later. The noise became really obvious after some months. Take it in because I googled it had something to do with the oil. Took it to another mechanic because I didn't trust this place anymore. New mechanic said the oil was really burned bad and hadn't been serviced. Turns out Montebello Lube and Tube didn't change the oil at all! Beware of this place. The employees might assume you're someone else or have problems with someone associated with you and take it out on your car. My car needed more and more repairs after that. The engine noise never went away. Ended up having to sell it for $7,000 because the repairs wouldn't stop. I blame the shady employees. And found out that they didn't even install the oil filter I provided and I'm pretty sure they didn't even use the oil I gave them either because my oil was super black. And it's never like that. As far as value you do get what you pay for. In terms of quality work is fine, but I definitely don't recommend them to do any actual mechanical work. They don't seem to be well equipped with the proper staff to get anything done regarding insurance claims. Also, they seem to have a real issue with having hidden fees that they do not disclose until the very last minute. Albeit only for oil changes, I must say in comparison to the other auto mechanic shops as well as dealers I've been to under warranty, my experiences at Montebello Lube and Tune have typically been more pleasant in nature. Not only are the employees skilled with what they do as evidenced by how quickly they're able to get vehicles in and out of the garage serviced, but also they have never once pressured me into buying something/getting additional work done on my vehicle. Instead, they provide me my copy of the payment slip which lists a set of check boxes detailing the status of certain items on my car and tell me as it is upon checkout - "this is what we noticed from a quick check over, the estimate is listed on the right. We recommend it, but it's not something that needs to get fixed right now." Boom, done. Transaction complete. I respect that. Even amidst COVID and the countless number of struggling small businesses in the surrounding cities, I have never felt taken advantage of nor disrespected. Diligently, I keep all the payment slips with the estimates in a file at home, and there are absolutely no discrepancies in pricing. My synthetic oil change for my 4-door sedan cost me $65 after taxes today in 2020 just as it did 5 years ago in 2015. I'm typically always helped by one of two gentleman; One, a lighter skinned, taller broad Hispanic and the other a medium sized Hispanic with facial hair and a buzz top. Each time, my interactions with them have been pleasant. Very respectful gentleman. COVID UPDATE: I came in on a Thursday lunch hour which would typically result in anywhere from a 40-50 minute wait back in the day. We had our vehicle salvaged by the insurance for a stolen catalytic converter, because of that the insurance salvaged the vehicle which was still running great. We got everything replaced but now need to register it as salvaged and to do that required a Brake and Lamp inspection. We had some issue with a break light and Montebello Lube and Tune did an awesome job . Told repair cost was estimated at almost $800.00. Took my car to Al's brakes and he said everything was fine. This place messed my oil pan plug and wanted me to pay over $600 for a new one... so I decided check around and look for other solution. Turns out they used impact fun because the head of the plug was all damaged. They should only be using hand tools to take it off.. ..so I search forums to find another solution. My car needed an oil change badly, and my usual place was not available. Despite the bad reviews on Yelp, I gave this place a shot because it was close by to me. First of all, the minute I pulled up the man told me my car would be more expensive because it is a Mercedes. I was a little upset because they had advertised a reasonable price for an oil change. Usually I pay between $70 and $80. Here they quoted me $95. At the end of the day they ended up charging me more like $110. However, because I was desperate for an oil change I accepted. I sat in the waiting room. I did not hear any misogynistic comments. However, the man did asked me if I wanted synthetic oil. I thought it was a stupid question because I have a Mercedes. You cannot put anything else inside of a Mercedes engine. Despite being a female, I grew up with two uncles that were mechanics. I basically used to sit in their shops all day and help them. Desperation clouded my judgement. Upon leaving, my check engine light went on. I was pretty pissed off. The next day I went to the Mercedes dealership. They told me something went wrong with my engine and one of the spark plugs had been messed with. They also informed me that my oil filter had not been changed. So basically, this place was too lazy to even put in a new oil filter. So much for paying $95 at this place. My usual place which charges me $80 would have given me a new oil filter, changed my air-conditioning filters, and cleaned my windshield. All for a reasonable price of $80. Instead, I had to pay about $600 to repair the damage done to my engine. Strongly advise against going to this location, and I will never come here again. The fact that they didn't even have the decency to change my oil filter really upsets me. Mercedes even had to top off my fluids for free. They felt so bad for me. Do not take your car there. I took my 2001 dodge caravan for an oil change and tune up and took them the parts. When I asked how much I heard him tell me $75 asked and I heard the same. It was less then an hour job. When I went to pick my van up they charged me $375. After picking up my daughter from school and dropping her off I went back to complain. They gave me $50 back plus the van ran the same. So I paid $325 for labor and $117 for the parts from auto zone. So damn near $450 for oil change and tune up. read more

I came back a month later for noise coming from my rear end. They determined it was my back brakes by just driving my car around the block, mind you I had just installed back brakes recently of which I told the guy. Now, I know everyone has their price but even after searching and finding out that the parts were under $100, they didn't want to price match or allowed us to supply the parts and just pay for the labor. Tldr: Great service. Quick. Fair to cheap pricing. Most importantly, honest. My front two tires for having some noises coming from them, making me think that I perhaps had some issue with my brakes. After researching a couple companies that had store opening hours early in the morning, this was the only one that followed through with their schedule. Ideally, I was going to have the mechanic diagnose the issue, leave my car there and pick it up later in the afternoon, after work. When i arrived, I was the first person to arrive at the shop at 8am in the morning and was greeted promptly as soon as they opened. After a quick test drive and inspection, they took off all the brake pads and inspected but put them back in after realizing that it wasn't the brakes that was the issue. They simply readjusted a shield that was rubbing against my rims, causing the noise from my wheels. They worked quickly, professionally and were very honest. I've been to alot of mechanics that would have charged me for new brake pads on top of fixing the issue. However, they were quick to fix the issue, with no additional upsell. Hassle free. The pricing was also beyond fair; they charged me only $25. Best part, I didn't even have to leave my car there. I was in and out within 30 minutes and still made it to work on time. DECEITFUL SERVICE...went in to get my car serviced after witnessing my check engine lighton. The mechanic, CARLOS, told me he'd charge me for a diagnostic service to identify the underlying issue. When I went back after DAYS of waiting, they still hadn't attended to my car. They didn't make me believe that I, being the client, was even a priority. I went back to claim my vehicle. They charged me $75 for the diagnostic service, which they were not even able to provide proof of. No diagnostic form/sheet provided. When I questioned Carlos regarding proof, he couldn't provide it. I told him I refuse to pay for a service I can't confirm. He grew extremely defensive, was totally disrespectful, unprofessional, and told me not to question his work ethic. This was uncalled for. This made me realize that he may possibly doubt his own ability to execute his role as a mechanic since I never mentioned anything about his work ethic. He simply could not provide me with proof, but yet wanted to charge me $75. RIDICULOUS!!! I told him I'd pay but that he'd have to write down the issue(s) w the car on my receipt so that when I take it to the Honda service dealer, they can confirm. I told him, "If the issues are not the ones you mentioned or wrote down on my receipt, my $75 will be reimbursed, right...? He responded with anger and told me, "Do what you gotta do; just don't come back here again!" I replied with, "Sounds good, CARLOS" even knowing he wasn't the Boss, but tried to act like one. I retrieved my keys, spoke to one of the head workers there and shared my disappointing experience, especially after taking my car there for years. I headed to Honda where they told me the issues were not the ones he claimed or supposedly "diagnosed." I'm glad I didn't pay that disrespectful employee, CARLOS, a dime. Trying to scam me for $75. I will no longer come here again to see CARLOS's face and be disrespected like that again. No client should have to undergo such treatment. If you plan to get a diagnostic service done here, DEMAND PROOF! If they don't provide it, DON'T PAY! They continue to scam clients with this particular service. It's sad.
