Claudio and his team is great! Highly recommended! He did some work back in July 2017 but I got too busy to put in this review. This is a shout-out that I feel well deserved. Claudio and his team are very professional and very thoughtful for his customers. Do make an appointment though! He is quite busy, and I know why his customers love them! During this year's summer heat wave, our A/C was just not cooling. I made an appointment and Claudio came on time to check it out. I was thinking perhaps we needed a top-up of the coolant gas and he helped put it some, and guess what. The condensor coils sprung a leak!! Claudio took out the parts, and checked with the stores for replacement and found out that it was so expensive, and he actually took it apart to repair it himself! Saved us quite a bit from having to buy a replacement part, and also did not even charge us for the leaked gas that he put in! Now, we have great air-conditioning that kept us cool the rest of the summer. My a/c started experiencing some issues earlier in the week. It seemed to start and stop continuoulsy when turned on. I called over six heating and a/c companies and couldn't find a company that could schedule me until the following week. One gave me a date three and a half weeks out:( Fortunately I stumbled upon Monteros Heating & Air due to its great Yelp reviews. After leaving a message, I received a return call within the hour. I can't say enough about prompt replies. I was then able to schedule an appointment for the FOLLOWING day between 12:30 - 1:00 p.m. On the day the technicians were due to arrive, I was given a text to let me know they were on their way. They actually showed up a few minutes early. One of the techs, Claudio, introduced himself as the owner. He was super friendly and was quickly able to diagnose the issue - blown motor. My a/c was up and running again within an hour. Claudio even offered to top off my freon at no charge. Unfortunately, it turned out that I might have a slight leak (but we decided to save that issue for another visit next year). I am very happy I found this company! read more

Claudio is simply the best HVAC person I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I had some problems with installing my Nest. He came ontime and called me beforehand to make sure I was still available. He came out, took a look at my AC unit and reconfigured my Nest wiring. He turned on the AC and made sure it worked great. He spent probably 15-20 minutes at my place looking into everything and making sure everything was working appropriately. Then it came to the always scary part: the bill. I hadn't really gotten a good idea of how much he would charge beforehand. When I asked how much I owed him he said "no charge, I like helping people and this wasn't a hard fix." Seriously, who does that? This guy cares about his customers on a whole other level. I came away with the best possible experience. I will be using Claudio for all my HVAC needs from now on. I defiantly agree with all these 5 star reviews! Monteros Heating and Air is the company that the property manager of my apartment sent out to inspect and replace the wall heater in my apartment. Scheduling an appointment was easy and they were able to come out the very next day after a work order was put in. The contractor was very prompt and arrived right at the beginning of the appointment time slot. I appreciated the fact that they automatically put on shoe covers as soon as they arrived so they would not get the carpet dirty. They were very clean and didn't even leave a mess in my apartment. The installation was quick and the technician was very nice and friendly. I am not the one paying for a new heater so I can't comment on pricing. I have a lovely brand new heater in my apartment and am not freezing at night anymore! And for that I am grateful! read more

We have our ancient furnace checked out each year by PG&E at the start of heating season (free service) - but this year they reported we had an electrical problem and the inspector got a shock. We asked our usual supporters to check it out, and they confirmed there was a problem with the wiring - but when they had to leave there was a collection of disconnected wires and no heat. Claudio was recommended to us for help - he showed up promptly when promised, figured out the ancient system, reconstructed the needed connections, and was finished in less time than he quoted. I'd give more than five stars if I could to Claudio! We had a heater that was failing to start over the weekend, we emailed Claudio from Yelp and it turns out we were outside of his service area. Instead of just giving us a "no," he took the time to call us, diagnose the issue over the phone (which probably took 20-30 mins of trying different things with the furnace and thermostat), told us what we needed to do to easily fix it on our own (without electrocuting ourselves) and looked up the code for the exact piece we needed to replace. With his help we were able to spend $30 on a new ignitor rather than $250 on a service call. Fantastic service and he went above and beyond. read more

My husband and I own a restaurant and we have recently bought a brand new sandwich prep table to replace the old table we have. I was happy with the purchase until the new unit stop working in just two weeks after we received it. I called the manufacturer's warranty department. At first they told me they will come out the next day, but they didn't; then when I call them and confronted them, they start making all kind of excuses and further delay. (At one time they even try to pin the problem on us and wanting to claim that the warranty is void without even exam the unit first). After the manufacturer's tech people failed to show up again as they have promised one week later, I found Monteros Heating & Air's business card and called Claudio. Claudio was wonderful! After I told him what happened. He came in the same afternoon with his colleague Alex. They quickly zoom into the issue and discovered that a Current Relay was stuck in the closed position and overloading the compressor. They unstuck it and the unit is back up and running in no time. He wrote me a clear report that even I can understand what went wrong. He assured me there is NOTHING we could have done that could of cause this problem. I'm very grateful for Claudio's compassion to our situation and came through for us so quickly. I wish every service people we hire would be as professional, competent and as courteous as he is. Claudio will definitely be my go-to man whenever I have any equipment maintenance needs from now on. BTW, just for your information the unit I bought was manufactured by a company called Artic Air. I highly recommend you NOT TO BUY any products from Artic Air because their warranty offer is basically a fraud; they have zero capability to honor their own warranty and service their own unit if there is a problem. read more

After a termite inspection, our furnace in the attic would not start. I called Monteros and spoke to Claudio. He was very professional and let me know that this can typically get solved very easily. He said that there is a power switch in the attic and possibly the inspector turned it off by accident. His honesty was refreshing. Instead of relying on my ignorance and setting up an appointment to inspect the problem (then simply turning on the switch) and charging for the inspection, he was honest and gave me free advice. I thanked him and told him that I would look to see if the switch was off, and call him back if the problem persisted. I also mentioned that I did not have a ladder so that I'll have to get one first. When Claudio heard this, he asked if I was in the area and offered to drop by with his ladder after he finishes his current job. When Claudio arrived, the furnace turned on! I guess there were no issues after all. Or maybe it was his magic touch. In any event, we are very grateful for his assistance, and his service. He also did not charge us for coming to our place. Claudio was very professional. He came out the same day of requested service for our air conditioner, and found that our AC refrigerant had a small leak. He filled it that day, and came back the next week to check for the leak and fix it. He gave us a $20 workaround for a repair that would have cost significantly more through another company. Our furnace wouldn't start: holding the pilot light button for 1, 3, 5 minutes didn't help. I read on the internet that replacing the thermocouple should help and did so, but it still didn't work. At this point I contacted Claudio. He came on the same day, and tried to improve the installation of the thermocouple, but it didn't help. Claudio said that the next step would be replacing the gas valve. On the next day morning he came with a new value and installed it, and got the heating system going. Overall, It was a great experience: Caludio came on time, made a serious effort to fix the existing system without replacing parts, and when it didn't work he replaced the value and got everything working. My house in Redwood city had crisis last weekend: the furnace stopped working, the house over the weekend was cold and wet. If I could give 6 stars, I would. A fuse on my heat pump/AC has blown at least once a year every year since I bought my home. Every repairman had been unable to diagnose why the fuse keeps blowing. During one of the hotter summer Saturdays, our AC unit broke down. We called several different companies on Yelp, but being a weekend, they were either charging overtime or could only schedule appointments during the week. When I called Claudio at 9am, he had just finished a job, and his schedule was booked until about 1 or 2pm in the afternoon. However, since he happened to be in my area, he decided to squeeze me in and showed up within 30 minutes. He was very professional and methodically checked the unit. Monteros (Claudio) came to add freon to my leaking AC. Have had this problem for over a year, a leak could not be found and it was suggested I buy a new AC for $8,000 which I didn't want to spend. Claudio added freon and suggested he return at later date to look more thoroughly for the leak. I was so grateful he made that suggestion and not try to push a new AC unit. we got this 4 years old 5T Carrier center AC which went belly up mid night last night/early this morning. I went out to check and knew it was in the starter circuitry as I could smell busted capacitors/electonic standing next to the big fan-box outside. Called Monteros this morning, and we were lucky to be placed into Claudio's last available slot. Claudio arrived on time, and diagnosed that the run-starter has burnt thru. This is the same thingy that was replaced less than 3 years ago by another company. Last time, we were without AC for about 4-5 days as we have to wait for the part. With Monteros, Claudio determined that it would be better to use a better run-started. While we waited for his team to bring the part from his shop, we chatted, I was very amazed to see Claudio displaying very deep knowledge of how the whole control system work to make AC the way we like it, and the principle how the run starter starts the compressor and big cooling fan, and why the run starter can be the source of trouble at time. I was a trained Electrical Engineer with power station construction experience, so I know he knows his stuff. I like his attitude that he should "solved real problem correctly" very much. The problem was fixed in less than 1 hr !! and costed a lot less than last time (I am kicking myself for not finding Monteros last time). highly recommended. 10 thumbs up !!! read more

I called with a frantic message that my A/C stopped working. I have a sick dog at home with a temperature so having the house cool is critical. At 95 degrees outside, my house was heating up fast. Even though my call came in during a heat spell, Monteros was able to come out the following day. Claudio suggested I run my fan with A/C off for 6-12 hours in order to melt the ice that had accumulated on my furnace coils. That did the trick. I don't know how good their actual work is, but in terms of responsiveness, they seem to be pretty poor.
