After getting quotes from five vendors, I chose Aircare as they did the proper best practices assessment to size the heat pump that we bought to replace the conventional 20 yr old Lennox Heating and Cooling HVAC System) in our home. It's important that it's sized properly so its running most efficiently and Aircare was the only one that did the work that was recommended to accomplish this task. Roberto, the salesperson used his iPad to LIDAR map rooms to measure the cubic space for the estimate. So we moved forward with a Bryant three ton slim preferred series unit for our home at approximately 2000 square feet. The Mediterranean climate in Silicon Valley is a great match for a modern heat pump, and it frees us from a gas usage, which is increasingly expensive . The install terminating gas for heat qualifies for a $1500 rebate plus a $2000 tax credit. Of note Roberto spent almost 2 hours on site answering all my questions and doing the estimation, and linked me up with a service called HomeIntel, which works with PGE to optimize your energy usage in your home by analyzing your patterns looking at your account. It was quite helpful and free. In all this process really helped seal the deal in my eyes. Scheduling was easy for the installation, which started on time and took over two days. It's quite a bit of work to remove the old system and piping to then install brand new properly. It's very key to replace the refrigerant lines as the refrigerant is different than the old system and if the two get mixed in the lines, even if they've been so-called purged, it can contaminate and destroy the new system, so it's highly recommended that you always replace the refrigerant lines with this type of installation. Installer techs Kintroy and Dennis were meticulous, system experts, and very friendly. They worked hard and did a fantastic job getting the system installed over two days which included redoing the air intake ducts and enlarging one of the ceiling intakes. System came with a Bryant branded Ecobee thermostat which we had to have swapped out because the first one had a defect, second one is fine. Inspections - Another reason I chose Aircare is that they handled the entire city permit process for me other than I needed to be present for the inspector. The other vendors were not willing to deal with the full permit and rectify issues at their full cost if issues were found by the inspectors. When you spend the kind of money that you have to on a system like this, which is north of $15,000, I expect that the contractor will handle the permit. An installation like this requires two inspections, one feeds into the other. The first is required to drive the rebates and measures if the system is sealed, and is operating with proper airflow capacity. The second is the standard installation city safety and code based inspection. Passed the first with no issues, and the inspection with the city went quickly with no problems because the Aircare team did the job properly. The city inspector checked key items and commented that Aircare had really done a good job, that others that he has seen don't. I waited to do this review until we ran the system for a bit, so now it's been about two months and we are so satisfied. This is the first time in the 10 year ownership of this house where we truly have a set and forget efficient system that does not have to work very hard to keep the house heated or cooled. I highly recommend a heat pump system, especially if you have a solar system. Some installers will claim that you need to have the solar system in order for the heat pump to pay off because the heat pump uses only electricity, doesn't use gas at all, and can use electricity at a higher rate than the previous type of system. My experience is if the unit is sized correctly and you have good attic insulation, the system does not have to run very long or very hard to manage the temperature in the home. It operates so quietly both inside and outside that you forget you have an HVAC system compared to what we used to experience which was more like a jet engine, When combined with a smart thermostat, which you can inform about your type of PG&E plan it intelligently minimizes impact based on the rate you pay. If you happen to have solar like us, it is even a better. Bottom line need more vendors like Aircare. Thank you! read more

He inspected my old wall heater then made recommendations, which we largely followed. The price seemed reasonable. He completed the work cleanly, carefully, speedily and thoroughly. Brian, service technician performed routine maintenance on my HVAC Mitsubishi heat pump, air handler and ceiling cassette. He arrived on time, explained what services were going to be performed. He then meticulously prep the area in the house to prevent any spills and cleaned up the area afterwards. In addition he cleaned my dryer vent since my water heater was just flushed a few months ago. He also informed me for preventative measures that my ARRUS Air Scrubber should be replaced on my next maintenance schedule. When my 28 year-old A/C blower failed (paired with a 31 YO gas furnace), it was time to get a heat pump. We decided to replace the duct work too since our house is 60 YO, and wanted to add both a whole house fan and an attic fan. We received four quotes but it was a super easy-decision to go with Air Care: their experience and knowledge was far above the other installers yet their price was very competitive. Joey, the owner, is a walking HVAC manual! He spent a lot of time with me as he patiently answered my questions in as much detail as I wanted. The installation crew (Mark, Louise, and Juan) were outstanding - they worked hard, communicated clearly, and in general knew exactly what they were doing. They sent me texts each day to let me know when they would arrive, and cleaned up perfectly at the end of the day. The new heat pump, duct work, and fans work great. I was pleasantly surprised afterward that the office wanted to set up a post-installation QA visit. Who does that? Joey and his colleague Jacob spent an hour inspecting the work that was done - checking the indoor and outdoor units, checking the ducts, even crawling in the attic. There really is a lot to selecting heat pumps, and IMO the installation is even more important than the brand name. My newly installed heat pump has been discharging condensate water all over my patio. I reported the problem to Claudia, Office Manager. She promptly sent the company's senior assessor, Roberto, to look into the situation yesterday. As a follow-up, James Quan, Technician, stopped by today to solve the problem. James dismantled the outdoor condenser/heat exchanger and identified the root cause of the problem. In my personal opinion, the problem was caused by an imperfection in the design of condensates draining by the manufacturer, namely, Bryant/Carrier. Long story short, James figured out a way to circumvent the design flaw. I was impressed by his creativity and craftsmanship. It will take a couple of days to assess the results of this fix. But I have full confidence that Air Care's highly effective team will resolve additional issues, if any, to my satisfaction. The company's customer-centric culture continues to impress me. A lot that was excellent, with several little details that took the rating down a bit. We replaced our 30-year old furnace with a heat pump system. The advisor we worked with, Roberto, was great; actually did a Man-J load calculation with lidar measurements to determine the true system we needed. We were picky about having everything in the contract and Air Care was the only company that put the details in the quote. Warranty was good (not the best, but good), and their maintenance plan is good (not the best, but good). Great financing, and unlike a couple other supposedly highly rated companies did understand that not all thermostats work with variable heat pump systems. Adrian and Chris did the installation and were friendly, kept us informed, on time, and did a very good job - with a couple exceptions. Namely, need to read the contract (wrong filter grade ordered, tried to change the return size), the vents are supposed to fit a 4x14 vent cover but they are a bit small (AirCare is coming out to fix them), forgot to turn the water heater back on one evening, left the attic insulation pulled up, left wood scraps in the crawlspace (termites!), and since they finished late on Friday, did not completely walk us through the thermostat set up (which we figured out later). The office scheduling was pleasant, kept us informed of when people were arriving - but did charge us for the free maintenance and we had to catch that and have it reversed. None of these small items should prevent you from using them, and we do recommend using Air Care, just watch all the details as with any company. read more

Couldn't get our furnace pilot light on, just happened to see their van parked on our street so I asked whether they could take a look. Steve came over promptly with his tools and diagnosed the issue within minutes, pilot light only turns on when furnace is activated plus there is an intermittent issue with our thermostat. Good to know that we need to get our thermostat replaced or perhaps entire furnace in the future.
