Chill, no-frills Mexican spot. Guacamole Mexicano is nice and chunky. Drinks are pretty good, but Texas margarita could be stronger. I enjoyed my Dosarita (mini Dos Equis lager flipped upside down into a margarita). Arroz Con Pollo (rice & chicken with queso on top) is a favorite! My friend and I often sit on the covered patio, away from the inside noise. They have large fans to keep you cool on hot days, and have recently upgraded their seating out there. Took away one star because of the location and awkward parking situation. It's pretty easy to miss the entrance if you're not looking for it, and parking can be tight. read more

Ordered Chicken Nachos - very few chips or chicken - piled high with lettuce covering up the lack of chips & chicken - Menu said "Covered in Nacho Cheese" - well that was the most tasteless watered down mess - under the chips because it was so watery - topped off with a single slice of tomato - Chicken did have a good flavor. I live in Los Angeles, where they have great Tex-Mex. This place is close! The queso is amazing, but the chorizo queso is the way to go. I love their tortillas chips. Everytime I come into Atlanta to visit family this is one place I stop at to get my favorite dish Chorri Pollo. It's grilled chicken breast topped with white cheese dip and chorizo. Chips and salsa is okay.....I've had better. Needs to be a little bit more spicer in my opinion. I like spicy though. Also like the big margarita with a corona in it. Definitely share it.....I think it's big enough to share. Server was okay too but I think his shift was up we ended up with a different server at the end. Not a big deal for me. i moved to this area about a year ago and had been looking for a new regular mexican spot for awhile and i finally found it !! This place is awesome!! the food and drinks are great ! but most importantly the service and atmosphere are unmatched. on my third visit they already knew what i drank and all my special quirks i have with my chips. they are so welcoming and friendly and ive never gone without or an empty drink. i have slowly been trying everything on the menu and i have yet to be disappointed with anything i have ordered. read more

Me and my family called up Monterrey while driving on i20 to place a pick up order of 8 tacos, so simple nothing special the guy on the phone said 10 minutes, that was perfect. We get there and he goes in to get our order, 23 minutes later I call him to ask why it's taking so long, he said nobody had even asked him why he was standing there, he finally got a girls attention and tells her why he was there she says ok, 5 minutes later here came our bag of 8 tacos, $28!!!! For 8 tacos, we started eating them on the road but guess what.?! They were freaking COLD!! I don't mean just a little cold they were cold! The shells fell apart in our hand kinda like dough, this means they were sitting in that bag for a while. You get a lot of great food for great prices here! VERY laid back atmosphere. One of those kinds of places where everyone looks after your table. I'll first say this review is based on service alone, and has nothing to do with the food. The food is probably, as other reviewers suggest, decent Mexican fare at a reasonable price. However, I didn't get that far with my experience. We parked, and in spite of no indication about how parking traffic should proceed, we quickly figured out you're supposed to drive down the right side, not the left -- because it's one way and loops around in a circle (we figured this out as we almost hit someone who was leaving...a sign pointing which way to park might be helpful as construction continues? Just a suggestion.). We walked inside and the host (who was maybe 16) grabbed us some menus. I asked if we could sit outside, he nodded and brought us out. He asked us to pick a table, indicating anywhere was fine. There was one other table seated outside, so we sat a couple tables away from them. A server was with them when we walked out. A bus boy (I assume) was clearing off another table (which he never finished) as we sat down. So that's three staffers who know we're on the patio, right? The host brought us chips and salsa right away. We read the menu, ate some chips, chatted, figured out what we wanted to eat...and then waited. And waited. And waited. No one came out to the patio. We were there for a good 15 minutes and not one person offered to bring us waters, take a drink order, or even just give us a wave and say they'd be with us soon. Not a soul came by. As the ridiculousness of the situation began to become more and more apparent, we decided that, if this was setting the tone for the rest of the meal, we were over it. We got up and walked out. Coming back through the dining room (which was busy but not packed), not one person said anything to us. In fact, the server who was taking care of the other patio table was inside talking to another staffer, not doing anything. If anyone had asked, I would gladly have announced why we were leaving, but it kinda seemed like no one cared. The is a very typical "Mexican" restaurant, complete with all of the "authentic Mexican food" you would care to eat. Right. But, it is definitely very good for what it is. Monterrey Mexican Restaurant in Douglasville, Georgia, has all of the above. It's pretty much your basic Mexican fare, but it's done well and served professionally. One is treated with respect and friendliness. I always look forward to eating there. The parking is a bit strange, though, due, in part, to current major road construction, but also due to the lot being too old and too small. Went here today and discovered a fly in my drink...after a second refill. Disgusting. Pointed this out to my server and asked for him to comp something off our bill ....at least one of our meals. He was only allowed to take the drink off. When I spoke with the manager Alex M(he refused to tell me his last name and began to speak in Spanish all of a sudden ) he said they only take the drink off when they find flies in drinks. I said "So you must experience this often.. insects in your customers' beverages? " he said "yes there are flies all around!" And pointed to the air where flies we're circling overhead. I demanded to speak to an owner. He was unnecessarily rude and not willing to provide customer service. Almost as if he could care less whether or not. Never will we return there again. Went here with a group of 12 for my sons birthday. We had to sit outside on the patio because they could not handle 12 people in the inside Waiter was slow and not attentive. I ordered chicken and bean nachos. It was a handful of chips with refried beans and what appeared to be canned chicken. No seasoning. Very bland. Looked like Cat Food. This place is not worth spending your hard working money at. The manager is rude and makes excuses for poor service. It took 40 minutes for our order to arrive to our table. The manager said they had a lot of online orders and a large party. It should be first come first served! Also they did not have temperature control on the patio. It was freezing. Great place for Mexican food. It's in the suburbs but that should not fool anyone into thinking that the authenticity is not there. Definitely recommended. They have large portions for a fair, competitive price. This time around I tried the chori queso which is the queso hot cheese dip, cooked with chorizo sausage and spices, and they give you 3 flour tortillas (and spoons) to dip with it. You can use it with whatever lies in front of you, like your complimentary corn chips and salsa. I also ordered a combo platter, #14 consists of a burrito, an enchilada and a tamale-- I suspect that they are all made with beef by default, if you don't ask specifically for another kind of meat (My server didn't ask). In any case, all three items were excellent, the burrito and tamale came with shredded beef, the enchilada came with ground beef. I also got to taste my dinner companion's steak & black bean burrito, which was full of really tasty spices and well-done beef. I had an iced tea for a beverage. I didn't pay attention to the dessert menu, the main entree was enough food for me. But I see where they have some sweet items for those who are so inclined. Also, there are vegetarian options (I don't know if straight up vegan items are available, since traditional cheese is highly used here in most dishes). I see there is also a substantive seafood-based menu, including tacos and burritos. The atmosphere when we arrived was very busy, Saturday night crowd, a mix of different ages and faces. We were seated right away, despite the seemingly near-capacity attendance. The wait staff is very professional. This is an excellent restaurant for well-prepared Mexican food that tastes authentic and is definitely not the fast-food version (There's a Taco Bell next door, go figure...) read more

My friends and I have been meeting at Monterrey for a number of years. We like to meet after work on Thursdays because they have an outside seating area that works well with COVID right now. Last Thursday when the four of us arrived, we sat in the outside area, not crowded at this time and it was around 7 pm. Quickly, the restaurant was getting full in the inside as well as in the outside seating area. We ordered drinks and then waited for the waiter to take our order, which seem to take some time due to the rush of folks coming in. It took a while to get our order because the kitchen had a lot of orders to fill, though the people around us and behind us were getting their food and service a lot faster than we were. We asked where our food was again and it finally arrived which was simple, wings and dip. It took three more trips for the waiter to bring all the food and sauce for our meals. After we received our food, we did not see our waiter again, he was running and serving all the other customers but did not return to our table. People had come in, served, and got their check and left and yet we were done and still waiting on our check. I had to walk upfront and ask our waiter for our checks. When he brought them to us and we had been coming here regularly, the price of our drinks had gone up a dollar. When we asked the manager, he said that the prices were increased. No one told us this and a couple of the other friends had their receipts and notice the price changed. Again, they did not honor the before price but kept the price that was higher. I don't mind paying more for anything, if there is a sign or if it is noted on the menu or table anywhere, but it is not listed that the price increased on the alcohol beverages. Please be sure you ask if you have been before because they do not tell you this. Also, the waiter NEVER returned to our table or took our payments. We had to go to the front to the register to pay, another issue that we felt was rude and disrespectful as we are trying to stay safe, wearing masks and we are lined up at the bar with folks coming in and out picking up orders and sitting at the bar. Lastly, we have called to have a discussion with the owner and haven't heard back or received a return call. We were told the owner never comes in, so how do they know what is really going on at their establishment unless its more about the money you make instead of having returning customers that are happy and would like to return. I guess when your already busy, it doesn't matter about the customer and their awful experience. I will not be returning to this establishment and if you are a paying customer that works hard and being out is a treat with all that is happening around us, you want to enjoy where you are, who you are with, and enjoy good food and service, this place, did not bring this to the table. I will go back to where the service at Taqueria Jalisco at the Kroger shopping center off Fairburn Road is outstanding and they take care of their customers. The customer service, food, and atmosphere will be more serving to you than where we were last Thursday. I try to go to different places so they can stay open during this pandemic because I care about oalcoholicur hometown, but when you don't care about your paying customers, then I no longer need to give my money to you when you could not give me proper service, good food, and prices that change without a notice. read more
