I actually really enjoy this restaurant and I'm hard to please. On the positive side, it is very authentic food (authentic mex cheese, etc), and very tasty. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a chile relleno. Yum yum! On the downside, the location is extremely easy to miss, and the parking lot is a madhouse (they park all over the place, are there even spaces??). I originally found (what i thought was) their menu online with phenomenal prices but when I arrived i was informed that someone unaffiliated to their business put it up online and they couldnt take it down. Prejudice! This use to be my favorite Mexican restaurant but recently I have been mistreated. My fiance and I sat and watched people of Hispanic and Caucasian decent, who came in at the exact same time as us, be served immediately while we had to wait 15 mins for water and a Sprite. (I'm Black/African American just to be clear.) After our drinks were brought to us our waiter just walked off without taking our food order. After 5 more minutes of attempting to be patient we look over to see our waiter just standing around doing nothing! We left. This place is always packed in the evenings, but we were there for lunch on Saturday. I had chile relleno; which is sort of my go-to meal at Mexican restaurants; and a chicken fajita. The chile is supposed to be a tender chile, but I was served tough bell pepper instead. The pepper was inedible, I couldn't even cut it with a knife. The fajita was edible, but the chicken was very bland. All the rest of the ingredients on the plate were good, but nothing special. The chips, salsa, and cheese sauce we had before the meal was actually the best part of the meal. I've always gotten good service at this restaurant, and this visit was no exception, but I was disappointed with the food. read more

Typical mexican fare, but always comes out right. I've been eating here for almost 8 years. It's the best place to eat on Fairburn Rd and fair with the price. I prefer La Parrilla, but you can't eat there at these prices. Service is always good, and you can get take out quick. I eat there for lunch at work, so I can not speak of the bar. read more

I love this Monterrey. Everyone there is great. The Mariachi band is awesome. They can play pretty much anything you ask them to play from Led Zeppelin to Elvis and everything in between. I love the atmosphere. The food is fantastic. The chimichanga with beef tips is my favorite. My kids also love going to Monterrey. It is a great family restaurant or just a restaurant for friends to meet up and hang out. I have recommended it to everyone I know. : ) read more

Okay so i've been to this establishment twice and needless to say that I will go back. Despite the horrible parking situation due to construction the restaurant is a typical Mexican Joint. The first time I visited I ordered a combo with chicken taco, enchilada and burrito.. Enchilada was good, Taco was AWESOME and the burrito I could have done without. The chips and salsa were okay I asked the waiter if he could make the salsa spicier and he did just that yummo (except my tongue was on fire for quite a while) I ordered a 27oz Margarita on the rocks and it just wasn't strong enough for me!!! Ahh well my husband had the same thing as me except with beans and he found it okay. I think he enjoys the fact that there are tv's all around the joint so he can watch his football games *sigh*.. The second time around I had basically something similar to the first time except with beef and it was good but I rather stick to chicken the next time around. I will never go back to this place! Not once, but twice the waiter was rude. I asked about the pricing on a Margarita and was told to look at the menu. I asked about a specific size and was told "I told you to look at the menu". After looking over the menu, I requested that Margarita and was then told they don't have that size. Needless to say I walked out and will never return. The first experience was just ok, but pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. My advice is to lower the price and up the service. read more

Love this place! The whole staff is very friendly! The Thurs. night band is an entire family and they are all very talented! You should order a pitcher of frozen margarita. It is really yummy! This review is based on the food alone. I have ordered food from here on 3 occasions now, and call me forgiving, but the first experience was bad, not awful, just bad. Tepid food, with uncooked rice, visually dated meat, and for "Authentic" Mexican I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I have since went back a second time (With the same results). But the topper is from my experience yesterday. The food was off the chart disgusting, I didn't even have a yelp account yesterday, I made it just for the "Monterreys" trip I took. The meat was turned, the veggies (Which is one thing they did not mess up the first 2 times) was brown, soggy, with a bit of a funk to the oder. I immediately discarded mine, but as for my mother, who got a simple Nachos with meat and cheese, ate hers. She has not left the bathroom in the past 12 hours. I want to say, not only for their complete lack of giving a damn about the sanitation of food, and the condition it was in, they should at least know how to make (Construct) a Mexican dish the way it should be arranged, NOT JUST TORTILLA, MEAT, CHEESE, AND LETTUCE THROWN IN AN ALUMINUM CONTAINER. I really enjoyed this restaurant for my very first visit and I will return again. The food was delicious, veggies tasted fresh and crisp and the meat was juicy and done. The prices were affordably reasonable, the waiter was knowledgeable, patient and friendly. He gave us great suggestions. The seating was comfortable and the atmosphere was really lively and family oriented. Everything was right on point, even down to the delicious strawberry lemonade beverage I ordered. The only thing that needs to be tweaked and finished is the parking lot. They would do well putting up arrows and sighs indicating the entrance and exit areas and they really need to finish the back area of the parking lot-get the whole space asphalted.
