If all you usually get at AYCE KBBQ is bulgogi, brisket and pork belly, this place has the best price for your money! Currently, it's $11.99 for the menu that includes those meats. I enjoyed all three of the meats, but my favorite was the bulgogi because of its marinade! There is a salad bar for all of the sides which I really enjoyed because I never eat all the sides presented to me at other Korean BBQ places. All of the staff was very helpful in making sure that we got all of our meats and waters in a quick time. Thank you!! They have valet for $3 in the parking lot out front. Easily one of the worst Korean BBQ experiences. Through the set we chose to order, we really just had the Beef Bulgogi, the sliced pork belly, and beef brisket. To start off, the beef bulgogi's marination was terrible. All the bulgogi tasted like was pure sugar. Bulgogi marination usually contains more than just a sugary overload. The bulgogi was also borderline from becoming mush. The consistency was of mashed potatoes. The pork belly by itself was disgusting. It was very tough, and lacked any sort of flavor. I understand that's what the purpose of the salt and other sauces on your table, but going to other KBBQ spots, you can enjoy the pork belly alone if it's good. The Beef and Brisket was literally just alright. I have no complaints about the brisket. The Banchan and the side salad was an issue. I loved the kimchi, it was delicious. The macaroni was passable as well. The side salad was an issue as there was the slightest hint of dressing. What wasn't seen in the picture was the fish cake. The whole fish cake was incredibly hard to swallow. The texture of it was incredibly soft. It tasted like uncooked tofu. Out of all the fish cakes I've tried, I've never had one as disgusting as this. The quality was terrible. I understand if the way KBBQ places run there store is by freezing meats and thawing it out. Though, our pork belly was still frozen. I've never been served frozen meat during a KBBQ. You can see the goo like liquid seeping out of the frozen pork belly in the picture. The pork belly itself was very lean. I assume pork belly to be fattier. Like stated, the bulgogi was mush, which makes me question the quality. The brisket had good quality to it. The banchan, I believe is from the bar, so it's not always fresh. The plating and presentation is just terrible. The plates they used for the banchan and what to bring the meat in was very cheap. Water cups were cheap, and the chopsticks were cheap. The presentation of the meats did not make it look appetizing. The price is not fair. I understand that $20 is really cheap for a Korean BBQ. I would only find it fair if this place dropped it down to $15. Though, the portions of meat were big. The banchan also was big enough for the whole table. Though, I wouldn't pay $20 again for this place. The staff was pretty nice. They were not over welcoming nor underwhelming, they were just in the middle. Though, in terms of actual service it was an issue. Our table rarely got approached by our server. We would have to wave our server down as they walk by us to get their attention. Though, when we did order meats, they came out fast. I can't say the same for water. We waited a long time just to get a refill for our water. This is because there were no servers coming around our table. The ambiance of the place is bad. The music is incredibly loud. You cannot talk to the people at your table. The music was very uncomfortable and annoying the whole night. The design of the place itself was not appealing at all. There was nothing eyepopping in the restaurant. Very basic, if not below basic, interior designing. The place also seemed very cramped. The place was not clean. Walking in, everything was messy. Like stated, the restaurant is cramped. Therefore everything just seemed to be all over the place. A lot of the things in the store need repairing. The walls were tearing apart, the chairs were scratched all over, and the tables were also degrading. The restaurant needs to maintain cleanliness. Parking is terrible. I have been coming here for a while now, since 2014 or so. There have been a number of years between several of my visits. This last time that I was there, I noticed that the prices had gone up but the quality of the food and the quality of the service had not improved at all. The meat still comes to the table semi-frozen if not completely frozen, especially the pork belly. The service is not the best and it's hard to get their attention a lot of times. Sometimes you gotta ask for things a few times before it makes it to you. Just a heads up, they won't tell you this but, if you ask for the steamed egg it'll take a while because there is someone back there who has to make it. So, that'll come out fresh and what not but don't expect it instantly but ask at least once about it after a lil while so they don't forget who ordered it. I still come here from time to time and it is OK when you wanna curb a craving but there are def lots of other good places in town. This spot is still inexpensive but I also feel like they charge more for the things that either didn't cost at all or didn't cost as much before. Parking is still terrible and the valet people are still miserable. Trying to find street parking can be tougher than anything. Hubby and I like the chicken here but of course it isn't something that we order too much of because it takes so long to cook. But if you are willing to wait, it's yummy. Speaking about flavor and what not, their meats aren't all that seasoned. There are a few different sauces to choose from but I kinda view those as liquid salt. . . TL;DR Bland meat and bad times. Go somewhere else. The worst kbbq I've ever had. Literally no redeeming qualities. Took an hour and a half for us to be seated. Inattentive service - no waiters gave us any attention until we called them over 10 minutes later. Got our order WRONG. Side dishes... ok the fish cake was good but literally that was it. All the other banchan tasted like they were just defrosted. The sauces- HOLY SHIT I've never had a kbbq place serve me straight up SOY SAUCE for dipping. And the MEAT. The most important part of any kbbq restaurant. They served that shit to us frozen. Stiff as a brick. Straight out of the freezer. Tasted like cheap meat. Priced at $16 (we got the B menu for more options (too bad those options were crap)) If you HAVE to eat here, stick to only brisket and bulgogi. Those were the only two tolerable meats. The pork belly and flower steak both came frozen and tasted gross and oily. Rib fingers weren't marinated at all and were also bland and oily. They also decided to seat us at the funkiest grill in the house. Half the side wouldn't catch fire and the side that did sent up pillars of flame every few minutes. It was like portals to the coldest and hottest parts of Hell opened up on our grill. The smoke from the grill also didn't seem to be going anywhere so my entire table was tearing up and couldn't breathe. Honestly, choosing this restaurant just because it's cheap is a terrible reason. For the simple fact of how cheap it was, sometimes $10.99/per person and now $12.99 for basic, brisket, marinated bulgogi and chicken, pork belly etc. I loved the fact that it has a salad bar, so you're able to refill and just grab whatever you want, instead of waiting on a server or them giving you faces for asking for seconds (happens to me elsewhere) Point is, this place has gone down the drain. Each time I come it gets worse. Service is horrible. You have to be flagging down the servers to get their attention, and somehow when they glance they act like they don't see you. The sides are not fresh, looks like they reheated them, and the veggies are dry and look old. I love potato salad and it was just so disgusting! The texture was soo out of proportion. What got to me the most was the meat. It was brown, with nooooo juice! I ordered Beef bulgogi and it comes reddish with a bunch of sauce. This was dry, and brown which made it seem like it had been stored for days and was not fresh. The taste after cooking it, was just bland. Another thing is the smoke you have to be sitting in. They don't open doors or theres no type of ventilation here. So you have to be breathing in all this smoke. My eyes were burning by the beginning already. There is parking, but usually Valet. We sat as soon as I got there at 5:30-ish. This place is soo smokey. There is hardly any ventilation. It's not a huge place so be careful maneuvering around the restaurant. You may bump into someone's table. Harder when you're a thick chick like me. LOL During our meal, we had to flag down waiters/waitresses (didn't matter who) to order more meat, ask for more water, more banchan sides, etc. Its all good because all the wait staff helped. It really didn't bother me. You have to ask for the little saucers to get all the sauces. On the table there was soy sauce, some tangy sauce (no idea what it was but it was good), and hot sauce (looked like sambal). You have to ask for the salt and pepper and the oil. We arrived a little after 10pm there was only 3-4 others tables were occupied. First, the room temperature was bearable since we were so hungry and kept eating. After a while especially when we slow down...it got super cold. Even sitting next to the grill did not help keeping us warm. Went to the restroom, no hot water !?! My hand got super freezing after returning to the "outdoor" atmosphere dining area. I was still cold even after I put on my down jacket. Perhaps we beat the rush Wednesday night, but I'm sure if the restaurant was extremely busy as always, Peter will still deliver outstanding customer service. If you have kids and are bringing a stroller, I recommend leaving it in the car since they have no room whatsoever. This is place is like any old korean BBQ spot with a slight difference. The sides are on a buffet table and so are the sauces. This would be amazing but everything looked sketchy. The potato salad look a couple days old. The noddles were super dry and everything else looked ok to eat. Now for the meat... Everything was average. The only upside is that they have bulgogi in the $9.99 list. This includes kimchi, pickled radishes, bean sprouts, noodles, potato salad, corn kernels, jalapeno, and different kinds of vegetables. There are also different sauces and dressings to choose from. You can also order unlimited servings of rice plus a soybean stew. These are two items I usually skip. I prefer the noodles over rice. The stew, on the other hand, is too spicy and too salty for me. This place is rated A which proves that it meets all the safety and health requirements for a restaurant. It may not be sparkling clean but I'm fine with it. C'mon, guys!
