I have never given a buffet 5 stars before but this one deserves it. Place is clean and a hidden gem in Los Angeles. There's free garage parking for customers. The selection of food is amazing. They have mongolian bbq, sushi, seafood, dim sum, and other food (including white rice) that is not available at any other buffet. Taste is also not bad at all. Drinks are also limitless but they're tucked away so you have to ask the server refills. You definitely get your money's worth here. Did I mention the FREE garage parking? Unheard of in LA. Absolutely absurd. This establishment has my upmost appreciation, approval, and recommendation. Prices are reasonable for what you get. I just can't believe there's free parking and it's safe. Last night, I had dinner at Downtown Buffet with one of my friends. It was my friend's birthday recently, and she is a huge buffet fan. She always wants to eat at buffets, so when I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she immediately said she wanted to go to a buffet. In fact, she treated me to a buffet for my birthday last year, and she had been telling me that she really wanted me to take her to this buffet for her birthday. So we went there for dinner last night. The process was that I first paid at the cashier, and then we were sitting at our table. While paying, we also ordered our drinks. My friend ordered an iced tea. When it was time to eat, I realized I probably shouldn't have gone to an all-you-can-eat buffet because I was still so full from lunch. Earlier that day, my family invited some friends over to the condo where I live, and we had a BBQ. I ate a lot of steak, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, and other food, so I was already stuffed. Since this was an AYCE buffet, I just couldn't eat very much. Even so, I tried a few different dishes, including Mongolian beef, orange chicken, a couple of sushi rolls, some fruit, dessert, and soup. After that, I was completely full. My friend, on the other hand, probably ate about five plates of food. She absolutely loved the Mongolian-style stir-fried meat and squid that the chefs cooked on the large grill. She also got enough of the lychee from the dessert section. She loved it so much that she went back for three full plates of it! As for the food, I thought the meat was a little too salty, but the soup and the other dishes were ok. To be honest, since I wasn't feeling well and only tasted a few items, I can't really give an overall review of the entire buffet. Based on what I tried, I thought the food was ok. The best part was seeing how happy my friend was. She absolutely loved the food, and since I was treating her for her birthday, she was smiling the whole time and really enjoyed herself. Another thing I really liked was how quickly the staff cleared our plates after we finished eating. The service was excellent, and all of the employees were very friendly, which made the dining experience even better. One of the best things about this place is that they have a large parking lot, and parking is completely free. One downside of this place is that there is no internet connection at all. The Wi-Fi and cell phone signal do not work well here. OMG. But while I was writing this review, I just looked at the receipt again and realized that the service charge had already been added. I still left a $5 cash tip on the table before I left. This is why I should always check the receipt carefully as soon as I receive it! But, not yesterday. And now that I look at the receipt again, I don't understand why there are different amounts listed on it. Things like this should have been explained to customers beforehand. They should have clearly informed me that a service charge would already be added to the bill. Since nobody explained this in advance, I was disappointed. read more

Newish Chinese buffet that opened up around Westlake. For a buffet it seemed pretty cheap, so my family and I decided to give it a go. The interior was pretty typical of a Chinese buffet, with classy tiling and blue accent lights mixed with black granite countertops and black wooden tracks being the main aesthetic. The counter is next to the entrance facing the parking lot, so if you come in from the entrance facing the street, you have to go to the other side of the restaurant. Service was very friendly, and they accommodated well for the baby in the party. As for food, like all buffets it's a bit hit and miss. The hot and sour soup was a bit better than I've had in other places, and the dim sum wasn't bad. I had some ribs that were surprisingly nice, not dry or tough despite appearing like they were under a heat lamp for awhile. The griddle service was also nice, I had some pork belly and galbi with some noodles and it turned out pretty well: well seasoned, not chewy, and pretty flavorful overall. The sushi was alright, typical buffet quality. The salmon is a safe bet. The desserts I felt were a bit lacking for the most part, but the ice cream wasn't bad. When we heard there was a new buffet in Westlake, we showed up like it was a grand opening for us specifically. Your first mission is parking!! Don't be fooled like we almost were.... skip the paid lot and head to the FREE parking structure in the back like a seasoned insider. Already winning!!! You pay upfront (love that for my anxiety), and at about $21 for dinner/weekend pricing, it feels like you've just unlocked an all-you-can-eat side quest on a budget!! Now, the food. I got so excited seeing galbi ribs... like, emotional support level excited but only to be betrayed by how tough they were. Seriously, these ribs fought back!! Someone please introduce them to a bromelain or some other meat tenderizer!! There's a DIY Mongolian grill situation too, which should've been a slam dunk... but nope, same chewy energy!! At this point I was starting to think my jaw was part of the workout plan. BUT, redemption arc!!! The hot foods came through. The fried chicken wings were juicy, crispy, doing everything right in life!! I went back for those like I had something to prove. Sushi was fresh, hubby-approved, no notes. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We got food poisoning from their food. This is the only place/food we ate that day. We do OMAD. The meat was very fatty, the desserts were super dry and overall the food was gross. It only looked appetizing except for the self serve tubs of ice cream that looked disgusting. Weekend buffet is only $21 and there are crabs and crawfish aplenty. I really like the honey battered shrimps, white sugar sponge cake, and Chinese tamales. Majority of items exceed my expectations given the unassuming location. The desserts are delightful and not too sweet. Service is sufficient and facility is clean. Love that there is free garage parking which is so hard to find in this neighborhood. You pay upon entering the restaurant, where a 10% tip will be added on top of the buffet price. They took 10+ minutes to take our first round of plates & at all other buffets I've been to it's always taken less than 5 minutes, Drinks needed refills & they clearly saw so yet didn't ask or offer whilest again at other buffets they'll either just refill it or offer whenever they see it's almost empty. I saw atleast 50% Asian Ethnicity dine-ins on that day so maybe thr food is authentic with taste so im giving a + there. The Food.. ummm.. just like most Buffets..not fresh and I wasnt too big on the options. Yes you got your traditional Chinese take out items like orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, beef broccoli etc.. but in my opinion besides the garlic green beans and beef broccoli..there really wasnt any veggie options. Outstanding buffet! It's a reasonable price and the food quality is great. They were missing potatoes on the buffet the day I went and they actually made them for me when I asked. The customer service is amazing. This is my new favorite buffet. They have an incredible dessert selection which is rare. The only thing I wish they had was a chocolate fountain but not a big deal. This restaurant is new and spacious. Everything looks clean and new. There are many traditional Chinese dishes. The food bar is constantly filled with freshly cooked food. Previously known as Diamond Buffet, I remember always coming with my mom pre-COVID. This time around, it's called CA Downtown Buffet. Anyways, I decided to stop by with my fiancée to see if this place is still hitting like it used to. Still cheap Mon-Friday, 11am-3pm. Lunch time: $14.99 per person, 10% service charge. Sadly, I'm here to tell you, the food was not very good. I started off with a plate of chow mein, beef broccoli, orange chicken, and some California rolls. Chow mein was cold, orange chicken was not very good, and well, the beef broccoli was probably my favorite thing out of this plate. The California rolls were fine, tasted just fine. Since the chow mein was cold, I decided to try the Mongolian. I want to make a quick comment; just please keep an eye out for their tongs. Some of them had raw chicken/shrimp when they were for the noodles or one of the vegetables. Plus, (Chicken & Shrimp looked very slimey. Just be careful, please.) So I went with some meat. They cooked it, took about 5-10 minutes. At least the noodles were at least hot this time. Overall, the Mongolian wasn't bad, but definitely I've had better. It was decent at most. The meat quality was subpar. At this point, I was giving up on the place, but I got up and got one more plate with pizza, garlic bread, California rolls, and one Chinese chicken skewer. The skewer was tasty, sweet, and savory. Garlic bread tasted just fine, and the pizza was okay, tasted like your regular frozen pizza. Overall, this place isn't what it used to be. The food isn't like I remember. They might have free parking. It looks clean, ambiance is ok, and looks like they have a good selection of food from far away, but don't be fooled. Service was okay. It doesn't help that it took them about 15-20 minutes to refill our sodas. I really wanted to love this place. Best buffet I've been to in a while. Weekend price was $21.99 plus a 10% service fee. Absolutely worth it. Plenty of fresh seafood options. A variety of traditional Chinese buffet staples and the sushi selection on point. The biggest draw for me was the bbq grill area. You can get 2 kinds of pork and marinated beef short ribs and shrimp grilled or you can get a traditional stir fry made. With the crab and the short rib alone you're getting your moneys worth. Then there's the fresh fruits, salad and desserts. There's even hand scooped ice cream. The restaurant is clean and the service is great. Definitely something you'll u need to check out. read more
