Ordered from moonbowls through doordash and wow! So amazing. I got the avocado bulgogi bowl and it was so delicious. The sweet potato really complimented the flavors of the kimchi! Would definitely order from here again. Also got the chia pudding - so tasty. Highly recommend this spot! The spicy mayo sauce was really amazing also.

Found this place via Door Dash and decided to give it a try. I like how they are trying to take Korean cuisine and put a health conscious spin on it. The menu is very modern and attractive to the eyes. I love the website layout and the pictures they provide; it's very helpful for one unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. That being said, we did order off DoorDash (I did check out the website prior to ordering!). It comes with very cute packaging and I can reuse the bag! However...couple things to note about the food. Please refer to the pictures for the following points of critique. My girlfriend did a create own bowl, while I went for the Chicken and Egg bowl. Thinking we would need more for our meal (usually bowls don't fill up my hungry self), I also ordered the KBBQ Cauliflower Wings. There is supposed to be a fried egg for my bowl? I mean, chicken and egg bowl right? Opened up my container and no egg to be found... Then my girlfriend found a hair in her pineapple. On top of this, both our bowls were underseasoned. There didn't seem to be much flavor and we thought it could use at least more pepper or salt. It was a bummer because the KBBQ Cauliflower Wings were seasoned very well and the flavor was delicious! We actually enjoyed this one. However, the former two needs some work. I might be late to the game, perhaps this place has opened up awhile back and I don't go to that location enough to realize it. It's a great healthy option and I like the idea. I'd take note on seasoning of the bowls and some sanitation, and I think this place will continue to take off. Portions were great and it was packaged very well (compostable bowls). Hence my 3 star rating. Considering another visit another time when I need something quick to eat in the San Mateo area!

Absolutely fabulous. I did DoorDash so not sure what the place looks like. It was a homerun. From the packaging and completeness of utensils and no leakage. The food was so flavorful. The bulgogi was so tasty. Tender and fresh. The avocado sliced perfectly. The brown rice was so good and fresh not clumped. The noodles were delicious. The sauce was perfect and I could have eaten it without. I'm full but longing for more. Lots of choices and you can create your own. Please come to Sacramento area.

I was so excited to see this place since I'm on a strict diet. Ordered chicken kimchi from doordash and it was pretty good. I think the flavor is perfect for what it is, I was expecting more chicken. And since I've ordered extra broccoli, the portion of the broccoli is a bit less than what I expected. But overall it's very delicious. And I would order again to try their other bowls.

Moonbowls are healthy Korean, gluten-free food bowls. This Moonbowls location is a ghost kitchen inside the San Mateo Food Hall. It's menu offers Bowls, Appetizers, Desserts, and Drinks. The other day, I ordered the $13 Build Your Own Bowl, with a brown rice base and chicken as my protein. My add-ons were corn, pineapple, seaweed, caramelized onion, and green onions. In general, the food was good. The fresh tasting ingredients, made the bowl a pleasure to eat. The only issue I had was the brown rice base was a little hard. So I wasn't sure if I was supposed to stir it up or eat it as is. I have ordered Moonbowls before (from a different location), but I had a kale base in that bowl. I think next time I'll opt for a veggie base. The food bowl weighed about 22-oz, including the bowl. Located inside the San Mateo Food Hall at 66 21st Ave, San Mateo. Street parking.

Very good food, tasted fresh and healthy! I got the BBQ chicken bowl with brown rice, and with mushrooms and broccoli as my sides. Chicken was juicy and tasty. The broccoli had a little char on it, which was also good. The mushrooms were actually awesome - perfect texture and quite delicious. Great place for a healthy, well-portioned meal!

Ordered via Uber eats. I got the kimchi chicken bowls! Great for healthy clean lunch option. First time trying and will be trying the other options next time

Ordered through Uber Eats and found this unique place with a Korean taste. They are more geared toward healthy eating which is what we were looking for. We opted for the Avocado Bulgogi and the Sweet Chicken Kimchi. The meal came in a very cute purple paper bag. The Avocado Bulgogi had "impossible" beef which was not heavy but yet tasty. The Sweet Chicken Kimchi had a but one get one deal, and was quite good. We would definitely try the other dishes next time.

Sweet chicken BOGO bowl and chia pudding.
    Dane L.

I ordered a chia pudding, BOGO moon bowl sweet chicken and some fried chicken. It's not worth the money at all. The chicken was old and dry stale. Corn tastes half spoiled. Chia pudding with strawberry we couldn't find any strawberries. Stay away from this place.

Moonbowls is in San Mateo!! So excited to have it close. 100% gluten free places are so tough to find for people with gluten intolerance or celiac disease and Korean style food is often harder to find gluten free. I would pick moonbowls up in the SF location but now have it minutes from home. So easy to order on the app and the food is all very good. Can't go wrong with any of the items. I like the spicy chicken dish and the fried cauliflower the best. Will be a regular here!

When we arrived, we were easily able to get seated without a reservation (perhaps because it was a Sunday). The service was wonderful from the get-go - they were extremely friendly and attentive the entire time, and made us feel very welcomed. And though we arrived on the slightly later side, they never made us feel rushed. The interior of Rin-Tei is minimalist and cozy, and had a very familial feel, as virtually all the tables are connected by a long bench along the wall. It contributes to the inviting, inclusive atmosphere of the restaurant, making it a great spot to meet up with friends. We ordered a variety of dishes which we all split, including: the garlic shrimp, the Vietnamese papaya salad, cold sesame TanTan pho, keema curry, calamari, sizzling wagyu loin, and a couple drinks. And everything we had was excellent! My personal favorites were the sizzling wagyu loin, which was perfectly cooked and abundantly juicy and flavorful, and the warm, tasty keema curry. I'd also never had cold pho before, but I ended up being very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. I loved my experience at Rin-Tei, and will no doubt be back soon!

The concept of having Korean food cooked in a robotic food truck is interesting to me. Since the food was catered, unfortunately I was unable to see the robots cooking in action, but fortunately was able to taste the final products. I was able to try the Wagyu galbi (short ribs), dak galbi (marinated chicken), Seoul food bowl (stir-fried pork belly and shrimp), and japchae, served with their corn salad, kimchi, and white rice. The Wagyu galbi was very flavorful with a good amount of vegetables; though I enjoyed the inclusion of lotus root, the veggies seemed like borderline filler to skimp out on meat. The dak galbi was also flavorful though spicy, and again the inclusion of rice cakes seemed like filler. The pork belly and shrimp were delicious, and I liked that the pieces of pork belly I had didn't have an overpowering amount of fat. The japchae was pretty standard and was nice to balance out the meat. I enjoyed the corn salad because it added a creamy component to my meal. The kimchi got lost in the mixture of food in my bowl and the rice was cooked perfectly by the robot. Overall, I enjoyed the food prepared by OLHSO Truck. Unfortunately, since the food was catered and already prepared when I arrived, I cannot comment on the service or wait times provided by the staff. I would consider ordering food from the truck if I am craving Korean fusion type of food and am too lazy to dine in at a local Korean restaurant. If the food from the truck is a good representation of the restaurant in downtown San Mateo, I am more inclined to try the restaurant for a nice sit down dining experience.

The other noodle dishes without the fish powder tasted more like Chinese dan dan noodles to me. They're still good, but they don't have the same unique flavor that makes Kajiken stand out. We also ordered the chicken karaage, takoyaki, and agedashi tofu for the kids, and everything was delicious. It was their fun shape that lured me into this place the first time, and then we discovered they put Nutella inside. Let's just say we've been here too many times to call it a healthy habit. Oh well. The whole experience felt cold and impersonal. What made it even more frustrating was that after we carefully selected our toppings on the kiosk, the employee still asked us what toppings we wanted. If we're expected to do all the ordering ourselves, the staff should at least be looking at the order we just entered. There are often long lines, and I suspect part of the reason is that many first-time customers aren't sure how the ordering process works. Since the employees are busy filling orders, there's really no one available to answer questions or guide people through it. As for the ice cream, it was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't memorable, and we've had much better elsewhere. Overall, the impersonal ordering process, lack of customer interaction, and average ice cream mean we won't be returning.
