I've been going to Moonbridge for a few months now, specifically for their themes that interest me most. I recall finding out about the crazy long lines when they first opened, so I was glad to find out they started taking preorders where you pay online to guarantee yourself a set of the week's theme. Look up their Instagram for more info, but you pretty much get 4 to 6 donuts for $30-40 + tax. The shop itself is decorated cute and whimsically. It's definitely on the smaller side, with only two small tables inside for customers. However, they do remove the tables when they invite other vendors to collab. You really don't have space to eat or relax so keep this in mind and research other places nearby where you can enjoy the donuts before they melt (because they will melt FAST). The donuts themselves are adorable and mostly true to pictures they post on their Instagram. The flavors are interesting... The buttered popcorn and matcha shortbread crumbs are my favorite whenever they have them. The fruity flavors are hit or miss. The base donut is the same; the only variation I've seen so far is when they make fritters. Eat them fresh for best results, because next day it definitely won't keep well. As mentioned, the glaze is so thick and wet, it will melt off pretty quickly in warmer temps depending on the flavor, so grab napkins and bring wipes. My biggest concern with this shop is customer service... Most of the employees lack basic customer service skills. They look generally annoyed with customers; I'd usually just chalk it up to an abnormally bad day, but it's been getting worse with each visit. Kind of feel validated after seeing the recent less than 5 star reviews, especially the ones criticizing the male staff member. Long story short, if you're going because you want themed donuts that look cute and taste decent, you know what you're getting into. Otherwise, don't expect much more from the experience. read more

This viral doughnut shop not only has the cutest designs (changed every 1-2 weeks) but has great flavor and texture of the dough and icing! Local vendors also do pop ups, offering pins and little trinkets to choose from while you wait for your order if you purchased any drinks. Most adorable doughnut shop! I stumbled upon this place while driving around and was drawn to it by the cute name and the ambience I saw through their storefront windows. I walked in and was greeted right away by the friendly staff. The shop is small (no tables) but bright, clean, and sweet. Luckily for me I came on the first day of their Harry Potter collection. They had over a dozen different HP themed doughnuts plus their famous fitters. You can select your doughnuts or buy a 7 box or a mystery box. I chose the 7 which has a variety of HP pre selected doughnuts. But you get to pick your House doughnut (mine is Ravenclaw). The fritter is amazing!!!! I stopped by this morning to check out this place. It has a very cute interior.Clean.Compared to other donut shops I've been to. The employee was nice.I was looking at the donut selection and the one that caught my eyes was the donut that has a cigarette on top. Did I really drive 40 minutes from Ktown to Long Beach for some donuts?! You bet I did! I kept seeing this shop pop up on my TikTok about their holiday/Seasonal donuts. They have the nightmare before Xmas theme donuts right now and I couldn't pass up a cute tasty donut. I was hoping these donuts didn't just look good but were actually good too and they were! They had some unique flavors like coffee and cigarettes and Vietnamese coffee. The donut is super fluffy and made just perfect. It's a very small shop not a lot of seating but most of the time everyone going to a donut shop takes them to go. They also have a pretty great coffee menu. I've been wanting to try this small business forever and OTGW means a lot to me so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I must say I was just expecting a pretty donut that would taste ok but the 3 flavors we chose were all really good. My favorite was the Beatrice donut and my partner's was the rock fact one but we both agreed the Wirt cup donut was still very good too. It seems like we got the same employee, Adam, that the previous reviewer references. The employee seemed to be annoyed helping us. We were picking up a mobile order and decided to order some drinks because it's not everyday we go to Moonbridge(first time goers). We ordered at 9:57, keep in mind we were the only customers in there with 3 employees in the back chatting it up with each other. A mom and kids entered and picked up their order in less than 5 mins, but it wasn't until 10:15 that we noticed they had not started our order. I got up to ask for an update after a group of customers entered, but I think they realized that they hadn't started our drink order and Adam told us from the kitchen than it'll be a few minutes. Then, minutes later, another employee from the back asked us what our order was for our 1 single drink (we ordered 2) so we repeated our order and they were going to start it, more than 20 minutes later. My wife got up and told her not to worry because we would like a refund. Overall, Donuts are cutely designed, and have effort put into them, but as for their service, it needs improving. read more

Throwback to these cute Avatar donuts in honor of its 20 year anniversary! Personally, this is one of those places where I'd go to support the cute themes they have each month but not necessarily go to satisfy my donut cravings. The reason I say so isn't bc the donut isn't good like that's not the case at all! Yesterday, my friends and I took our first trip out to Bananabellebrown's new doughnut shop - Moonbridge Doughnut Studio, to check out her newest creations as well as her limited time Sailor Moon themed donuts. As we drove up, we saw the line snaking from around the building and down the sidewalk. So many fans of her work showed up in support that day which was awesome to see. The inside of the store is cute - mid-century modern vibes with pastel color scheme. It has a simple layout - a collection of framed artwork and an archway displaying the store's inspiration on the right side, a corner collection of merch on the left, and a small counter showcasing unique donuts straight ahead. Admittedly, the staff was a bit disorganized this visit. It took us some time to get through the line and get our orders - the new collaboration specialty donut was released to us about half an hour late and one worker I asked about some of the donuts' flavor makeup didn't seem to know much about them. With the level of enthusiasm by the fans, it was no surprise that most of the display case was empty. Unfortunately, most of the Sailor Moon donuts were sold out and wouldn't be restocked for the day. Fortunately, two of the designs were restocked as we walked up - the Tuexdo Mask [rose chocolate ganache, Oreo crumbles, and rose petals] & the Usagi and Cat pattern [I got the last of the Hibiscus flavored version]). This trip, I picked up two: The Usagi and Cat pattern donut - a Hibiscus flavored glaze on a sizable donut base. The other was today's second specialty release - the Burnt Umber x Moonbridge collab donut. It's a salted citrus donut, with a dabble of brûlée custard in the center, and an espresso shortbread donut. I really enjoyed this one a lot. The slight bit of citrus tart works well with the caramelized custard and crumbly shortbread. Each donut cost about $4.75. I love love love Moonbridge donuts! Their rotating themes bring me so much joy, and I always love brining guests here when they visit from out of town. The donuts are delicious AND cute! The flavor variety is beyond anything I've experienced before and they put so much care into their designs and flavor. My favorite staple is their viet coffee and my fiancés fave is their maple apple fritter. Staff is always very friendly, knowledgeable, and ultimately a vibe. I was so excited to try Moonbridge doughnuts, but sadly they do not taste as good as they look. If I could rate on design and cuteness alone Moonbridge would definitely be 5 stars! Their instagram is amazing and shows off all of the cute themes they use to design their donuts. They keep up with the trends and make some of the best designs I've seen! I tried some of their Adventure Time doughnuts at an event, and at $8 a doughnut I expected a lot more from the flavor. The portion size is great, they're very large doughnuts. I tried the Lumpy Space Princess one which was spiced blueberry icing on an apple fritter and Jake The Dog which was a doughnut with mango icing. I LOVE anything apple, yet I could not finish this apple fritter. The edges were so hard and it just tasted so greasy I had to throw it away. I also love mango but the jake doughnut also had that same greasy dry feel and the flavor wasn't there. The service was super friendly and great. The designs are great. Im disappointed by the batch we got today. We have been here a handful of times now and everytime the donuts are perfectly pillowy and airy, but today was a different story. Not sure what went wrong in the baking process, but the donuts were dry and dense, and even the toppings tasted different. This is not your usual doughnut store.... Located on the SW corner of Palo Verde and Spring Street, this beautiful little shop is a fun stop for a sweet treat. I tried the apple fritter, and it was perfect! Crispy, with lots of apples and that sweet sugar glaze. I enjoyed a cup of their freshly brewed coffee with it. Seating is available inside and outside. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is prompt and efficient. This lovely shop created the most beautiful donuts ever in honor of one of my favorite musicians ever. I saw a post on Long Beach Food Scene (the real one) of the guitar donut yesterday in honor of Prince's birthday and National Donut Day. But, the shop was already closed by the time I saw it. I woke up this morning and called to see if they had any left. They didn't, but they still had some toppers and asked if I wanted them to make me any. Yes, please, one of each! For the amazing service and for honoring Prince... four stars!! The shop is cute and incredibly friendly. Family environment with a few tables to relax and enjoy your treats. My sole complaint is that the donut doesn't taste good. Please know that I guess I didn't buy it for it's taste - I drove almost ten miles and passed dozens of other donut shops. I bought these because they celebrate Prince and I celebrate Prince. But dang, it would've been even better if they tasted good. (To be fair, I only tried the guitar one so far. AND to be fair, I would have smashed every other flavor option they had for sale!!!!! But I'm technically not eating sugar right now. This was a special treat.) The short story is this is a regular neighborhood no-brand corner donut shop dressed up in Miu Miu and priced accordingly. The shop is immaculate, super cute and ready for GenZ, but beyond the optics, the food legacy falls flat. The strawberry matcha I got was bland even after asking for more puree. The donuts were super cute, branding was on point, but the drinks and donuts were basic beyond the catchy names. Maybe the food execution will catch up with the branding at some point! A big con, although they sell a Viet Coffee donut, they don't sell Viet coffee! The fritter was very light, the best one out of the bunch we bought. Viet Coffee donut icing on top was very tasty, but the donut itself was too chewy and a bit dry. Maybe if the donut was dipped vs top only frosted it would be less dry. BAD - Very high prices for what it is, donut flavor and texture do not match the price being charged, coffee is whatever (not bad, not especially good), no tables or chairs to enjoy your item while there. Tried 2 flavors of donut (Vietnamese Coffee, and Raspberry Spice) and 2 coffees (Chai Latte, Drip Coffee) for $20.95 before tip. I don't have a problem paying for bougie donuts (Blue Star, Devis) or wild/creative flavors (Voodoo, Pink Box). You get what you pay for and sometimes you have to shell out more money for a premium experience, but this was pricey without the quality. The Vietnamese Coffee donut was just a regular raised yeast donut with some glaze that kinda tasted of coffee, but also possibly maple? It wasn't definitively coffee more than another flavor and the dough portion was what you would get anywhere else. Raspberry Spice was better, but it also cost more and nothing I would drive across Long Beach to have. The star of the show was the Everything Bagel donut, but it still has some room for improvement. It could have been a stronger flavor of the savory, but the dough was good, dense and moist and better than your average donut store. Drip Coffee was ok, it was not a $3.50 drink. Chai was small and ok, but not a $6 drink. All in all, they need to up their flavors/texture game or drop their prices. read more

When I saw an article in The Long Beach Post that she was opening a donut shop I was sure to take note and keep an eye out for their grand opening. I made it during the first 10 days of business... when I walked in, to my surprise, my former classmate was behind the counter. Its was nice to see her and catch up for a few brief moments (they were a bit busy so I didn't want to hold up the line). I only got one donut this visit. It was strawberry. I love me some strawberry. Kimi told me that it was made with fresh strawberry puree. *yum* It DID taste fresh, not artificial. I went for the liliuhms collab awhile ago around midday. The drive was on the far side for me, but I really wanted to try it. Unfortunately, when I got there, they didn't have any more collab doughnuts left! Also, despite being several hours from closing, they weren't going to make any more for the rest of the day. Only the regular doughnuts were there, so I assume they wanted to focus on selling those if they tend to be quieter later in the day. I'm used to busier doughnut shops that frequently make fresh doughnuts during open hours, so this was an oversight on my part. Thankfully they did have the collab drink menu available, so I was able to try corn milk for the first time. It was better tasting than expected, but on the sweet side and felt pricey for the amount received. The decor was also cute. I want to like this place so much. The vibe is so cute. The staff is super friendly. The donuts have interesting flavors. Most of all their branding is on point. Their tees alone make me want to love it. I mean how can you not want a tshirt of a cute animal driving a donut shaped car. BUT...the donuts are just not that great plus they're quite pricey, like $5-$6 a pop. I've been there on three occasions and each time, I've left disappointed. The first visit I tried the Everything Bagel donut and the Campfire Pancake donut. The Everything Bagel donut just does not work. I do not want onion and garlic in my cake donut. The Campfire Pancake donut was pretty good, but at the end of the day it was a maple donut. The donut was fluffy and relatively light, but it didn't seem really fresh. My second visit was on Valentine's Day. I was thinking I would get some for my boyfriend, but by the time I got there around 8 am, they were sold out of nearly every flavor except plain glazed and chocolate. I mean, I get that it would be busy, but for them to sell out so quickly after opening tells me they were a bit short sighted. I still wanted to give it another try, because they had other interesting flavors that piqued my interest last time, so today I came back and tried the Vietnamese Coffee donut and Strawberry Meringue. I will say that the looked gorgeous. However, one bite of each, and I pretty much couldn't eat anymore. They were both soooooo sickly sweet, that it was overwhelming. The coffee flavor and strawberry flavor were hardly discernable over all that sugar. The meringue that topped the strawberry flavor also had an off taste about it, that really put me off as well. Their glazes also don't set completely, so eating them is a mess. Again, they also didn't taste or feel very fresh. Location: Spring Street and Palo Verde Avenue with a private lot. Doughnuts are themed according to the whim of the baker/owner and I think they have a lot of fun back there coming up with themes for their creations. Everything from Studio Ghibli to Roald Dahl book characters to a doughnut with what looks like a used cigarette laying on top of it. Even Sailor Moon themes. I love their creativity!!! Summary: The doughnuts themselves are your basic fresh round doughnuts except for a few others in the case such as the fritters and glazed. What you're really going for here are the themes and the creativity of the pieces. The artistry is amazing here with some looking so realistic. For those complaining of them running out or not enough: GET THERE EARLY!!! Like anything else that's popular and well-known, plan on showing up within the first 1/2 or so and watch their Instagram account for updates. Yes, the offerings are not cheap and these are the kind of things you get for special occasions or you or your special someone's favorite character. So why the 5 stars? Because of their creativity and their nod to the old school doughnut shop with a slight twist of their own while appealing to both old and new customers. Credit/debit only payment. We drove 45 minutes to visit this little shop and we were not disappointed. Artists work here. Their creations are a visual delight, and the flavors are fresh and cleverly paired. Take the coffee and cigarette donut, which was the one I had to see in person. Coffee cream centered with a caramel icing, and the cigarette (which is iced to appear lit) is crisp and not too sweet. Bits of ash are cocoa powder. Who does this? I don't smoke, and I don't gravitate to yeast donuts, but I could not stop thinking about this thing. Many people were stirring about the kitchen creating their current artist themed set. A sparkly employee recommended favorite flavors and we purchased an assortment to try. The crunchy knotted doughnut, strawberry crunch, yuzu and pistachio crunch were our favorites. I am excited to see what they dream up next, and encourage you to give them a try.
