I experienced Moondance Grill in Germantown and I enjoyed it! My food and cocktails were pretty good and I felt like I got what I paid for. Those who dine with me know I feel about customer service and the staff/management at Moondance did not disappoint me. Quality cocktail program with well versed bartenders. Staff was courteous for the most part. However my biggest and overarching gripe was the wait time and availability for food items. The amount of time we spent waiting for our food was nothing short of ridiculous. Also several items I tried to order from the menu were out of stock. I enjoy Moondance each time I visit, the service and food is good and consistent! I met up with friends for an early birthday dinner and it was what we all needed. Our server Lisa P. was sweet, she recommended the peach lemon drop which was yummy with a good punch lol! We started with spinach dip, the server told us it's also the same as the creamed spinach side which a was helpful. It's served with sour cream and salsa and freshly cooked chips, very light and crispy. We had lamb chops all around! Super flavorful and tender, I chose medium with Brussels and garlic potatoes. A hearty portion and I had leftovers to take home, Lisa brought a birthday dessert which was a yummy chocolate brownie with ice cream. We went to Moondance for the first time on Sunday 10/19/25 after being told from others we needed to try it. The place is nice inside and the hostess was very polite. Jalyn was our waitress and was there right after we were seated to get our drink orders. She was very informative about any questions we had about the menu. She made sure to keep checking in on us and did very well the entire time! We started with the charcuterie board and it was good. My wife had the shrimp and grits and enjoyed them, I had to tried them and also really enjoyed them. I had the 8oz filet (medium) and it was cooked perfect and had great flavor/seasoning. My steak was probably the best steak I have ever had! Yes... that's a bold statement but probably true! I also added the pan seared shrimp which was also very good. My wife had the bread pudding for dessert and really liked it. So "good job" to the kitchen staff as well. All the portion sizes were just right, not too much or too little. I visited Moondance while visiting Memphis over the weekend. It was a group of 6. The customer service was good and the waitress was timely. I ordered the braised short ribs along with the prime rib rolls. For dessert I chose the key lime pie and it was tart/delicious. I also had the whitehaven wine which compliment my meal beautifully. Other things tried on the menu were the spinach dip that had a nutmeg taste, it was very unique taste and the charboiled oysters. I've always loved the food and vibe at Moondance, but after tonight, I won't be back. I was seated at a table, then awkwardly asked to move because it was reserved for 8:00--even though it was only 7:00 and I also had a reservation. It felt disorganized and uncomfortable. No one greeted me for 10 minutes. When the manager finally came over, he took my wine order--I pointed to the $12 cabernet, and he said, "Oh, you want the Caymus cabernet?" Our server was polite and knowledgeable but had to leave due to an unexpected personal issue. Nevertheless the less we placed our order and was not disappointed. My date ordered a French 75 and I had water. For the entrees we had a Caesar salad, loaded baked potatoes and crab cakes. All of the staff we encountered were amazing. The service we received from our waitress Hannah M was so phenomenal. She was so kind, knowledgeable, and super fun. Nothing to write home about. Same goes for the green beans. The garlic mashed potatoes were good! We added a side of the candied Brussel sprouts, they were phenomenal! My husband got the roasted chicken. He said the sweet potato casserole was good. He said the chicken itself was just meh, but that the sauce on it was good. Went to Moondance Grill on Monday 06/06/2022 to celebrate a friend birthday. When you walk in the place you will notice how shiny and clean the place is. I wish I remember the waiter name that serve us. He was very energetic and seem like he wants to do what best for the customers. My friend had the Moondance classic burger with cheese and fries. I had the Kale and Cranberry Salad and added blackened chicken to the salad. I glad I added the blackened chicken to the salad it really bought out the flavor to the salad with the cranberry, apple, and the dressing. I just don't understand the 4 star reviews for this place. Below average hotel food is all I can think of. Service was ok but not stellar. Asked for the burger medium rare and it came out raw with zero seasoning. Saw some other reviews saying they are known for the burger but I have idea how that is possible. My 5 year old didn't even eat hers saying it wasn't good. The fries I'm pretty sure were from the day before they tasted so stale. I asked the waitress if we could get some fresh fries and she asked me if my 5 year old was ok with her stale ass fries. I really didn't even know how to respond. News flash, 5 years olds care more about fries than a 54 year old. Bbq shrimp were bad. Obviously all pre cooked and sitting in vat. Maybe 4 rock hard shrimp in a bad version of sauce. None of the soups were very good. The spinach dip was a Houston's knock off and was not even close to the same level. The carpaccio was boring and had no flavor. The dessert was not even fresh and I'd bet money not made in house. Hard pass on this place. I can guarantee not one person at the table will ever be back before it closes. Fries are $7 by the way. I was on a time crunch to get to a client appointment. 10mins go by, no server taking my drink order... I thought this was strange because I saw multiple servers walking around. It's like I was a ghost just sitting there. Meanwhile, the bartender was right directly to my left talking to other customers. Not a single word even from her to ask if I need anything. 30mins passes.... NO SERVICE FROM ANYONE!!!! NOT EVEN A DRINK ORDER!!!! I HAD MY MENU OPEN READY TO ORDER!!!!! I HAD IT!!!! Couldn't wait any longer!!!! So, I went right next door to Uncle Goyo's, seated right away... the greeter sat me down, asked my drink order that second. 7mins later had my food and started eating. Meanwhile, 3 other servers asked me if I needed anything from them... THIS IS HOW SERVICE SHOULD BE!!!! Fabulous food. I had the chicken quesadilla and was absolutely delicious. Their Chargrilled Oysters, Bourbon Salmon & Short Ribs have been our "go to" favs- at least 15x - in the past 21 months - they never disappoint (nor does their Moondance Cheeseburger with Shoestring fries!) Though you get a filling dinner-don't skimp on the desserts-they are decadent!! (In spite of noticeable smaller portion of their carrot cake) We continue to order from them as their food is worth it because of the chef(s) and their skills to consistently produce delicious, well-seasoned & absolutely "melt in your mouth goodness"! Post Script: A last comment for full transparency-to be totally honest, is regarding their prices. They are high (think 5 star restaurant like Pauline's). Our total on average ranges from $110-$160 depending on if we choose the 12 char-grilled oysters. It's not an everyday restaurant, but perhaps every week or month!! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with the owner of the business where I work - they share the same anniversary date as us, so were celebrated together at Moondance Grill. Madeline was our server and she was excellent. We enjoyed our cocktails (almost as good as Joshua's) and the food was delicious, prepared excellently and brought out with great timing. The ambience at Moondance Grill is always lively, in large part to the live music played in the bar. Sometimes it can get loud in the bar, but it's never obnoxiously loud. Madeline was so kind as to give both of us couples a congratulatory anniversary card (handwritten and signed by the staff) and also a birthday card for my wife (her birthday was the next day). Both cards were handwritten just for us, including details that were unique to each of us. A very classy touch! Moon Dance gets a 1/2 star. it was empty at at 4:45 after opening at 4 pm. We were appropriately dressed in line with their dress code, and we asked for a table for two. One hostess said, "I can seat you" and the second hostess twirled her hair and told us there was no space till 7:15, but we could wait in the bar. We told her no way and disgustedly left. We walked a few steps away and tried Uncle Gordo's. From being seated to being served, it was a delightful and friendly experience. The service was okay but they would not let us split the check. We had a party of 13 and asked to bring one bill and we would split between persons at table. Waiter said they couldn't do that . I have never been to a restaurant that did not split a bill. After brunch we went to bar and they were very rude to us and did not want to us to sit at tables even though no one was at the bar or waiting to be seated. Needless to say we will never be back. I loved the opened bar area in the middle of the restaurant. The food was delicious. We ordered the Crab Dip for our appetizer. It wasn't too creamy and heavy which we loved. I stopped in on a Thursday night based upon a recommendation for their lamb chops. The ambiance is very nice, extremely great staff, and a great spread of menu items. I had a martini which was very good. The lobster bisque soup was my favorite. I ordered the lamb chops as my entree. Overall, they were good. I do wish it was seasoned just a little bit more to give it more flavor. Finding parking was a bit difficult, but they do offer valet.
