I'm a business owner and can't stand seeing small businesses fail.... And because the owner is going to see this... I'd like to offer my two cents. I'm guessing most of your customer base is from San Antonio, Houston, and Austin....and most of your customer base are vacationers/second home owners... Meaning they fall into a mid to high class demographic. On top of that... They come from cities that have some of the best restaurants in Texas. What's this mean? These people expect the best because they've had the best. Fortunately moondog has a great atmosphere and location... But severely fails in the service department. Does moondog want to be "the place" to eat at in rockport/Fulton?... If you ask me...Doesn't seem like the motivation is there. I can't stress training your employees and management enough. Maybe they should all go to chik fil a to see what customer experience is all about. 1) our first trip to moondog we were told we couldn't sit outside because there was no waiter available... So we said fine... We'll sit inside... And yes... It was beautiful outside. When we sat down... We realized our table was literally 10 feet from an outside table. My point?... Let your waiter walk the 10 feet. 2) (first trip still) our waiter was drenched from head to toe in sweat... My point?... I want my food served from a sweaty waiter... Said no one ever. Give the poor guy another shirt... Offer shirts that are sweat stain free. 3) second trip to moondog...our party (14) was told again that we couldn't sit outside because there were no tables to accommodate us.... The only option we were given. So... We almost decided to go to Charlotte plummers. Luckily for moondog... You gained $260 of income because one person in our party took it upon themselves to find another place to sit in the restaurant... The room with the garage doors.... Which is kind of outside. My point?... Be accommodating. Move tables together... Give options...Buy bigger tables... Get a new hostess....and get a better waiting area. (A covered area out front would be a plus). One of the big reasons people go to moondog is for the atmosphere. When you have a customer walk in that front door... Don't let them leave! That's income! If there's a long wait, find an innovative way to keep them entertained while they wait. We saw several families walk away because they were told the wait was an hour to sit outside.... Did I say your hostess needs better training? 4) our third trip was tainted when my kids and wife were served moldy tortillas... My point?... Have a manager or waiter inspect every food item that goes out. With social media...All it takes is one bad moment to lose a bunch of customers. This should never ever happen. 5) after the moldy tortilla incident, we expected a manager to come by... Never did and not ok. My point?... Have the manager own up to the mistake and apologize... Assuming they even knew about the moldy tortillas.... And also comp more than just the tortilla meal. I might have never written this review if we were comped more. 6) all the waiters seem pissed and overworked... That's a management problem. 7) bonus material...use sourdough bread on all sandwiches... Game changer. Nuff said... Just don't be mediocre like the rest moondog eatery. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant. Our party of six waited around an hour and a half for our food. That is an unacceptable wait time, especially when the restaurant is charging high prices. When the food finally arrived, the quality did not come close to justifying the cost. It was below average, and the overall value was very poor. The worst part was the way the situation was handled afterward. A 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill because we had six people. I understand automatic gratuity policies exist, but applying a mandatory 20% charge after such a long wait and disappointing experience felt completely inappropriate. On the way out, I asked to speak with a manager. The person I spoke with was dismissive and did not take ownership of the problem. Instead of addressing the restaurant's responsibility for the long wait and poor experience, she repeatedly focused on the fact that the tip goes to the server, that the server is not responsible for the kitchen, and that the server decides whether to apply the automatic gratuity. That response made the situation worse. A customer should not be told that the issue is basically between them and the server when the problem was with the restaurant as a whole. No meaningful solution was offered, the automatic gratuity was not removed, and the conversation ended with management refusing to continue discussing it. For a restaurant charging these prices, the food, wait time, customer service, and management response were all unacceptable. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had, and I would not return. read more

I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. My family and I recently visited, and the experience was nothing short of appalling. To start, the service was extremely slow -- we waited over an hour to get our food, and the food came out lukewarm at best. When we politely addressed our concerns with the manager, expecting a simple acknowledgment or perhaps an apology, things took a horrible turn. Instead of listening to us, the manager yelled at my family, calling my uncle several extremely offensive names. It was shocking and completely unprofessional. We were just expressing concern about the quality of the food and service, and we were met with hostility. To make matters worse, she kicked us out of the restaurant without any explanation, all because we dared to bring up the issue. Management here is an absolute joke, and the treatment we received was downright disrespectful. It's hard to believe a place like this would be allowed to operate with such poor leadership. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, and we certainly won't be returning. read more

This is one of the worst food places I have eaten at. We were looking for my Birthday and 1 year anniversary of heart surgery. We were sat and then waited for a service person. In the mean time two other groups were sat and had service right away. They got their appitizers before we even ordered. By the time we got our food, both groups had checked out. Once we got our food, 30 minutes later, I couldn't believe how bad my plate was. I ordered the brisket and brat. The brat was way over cooked and the brisket was dry and touch. A steak knife could barely cut it. We kept looking for our waitress to make here aware, my girlfriend had finished her meal. I could not choke down this ditch. The waitress said she would talk to Stephanie, the on shift manager. She came back and said they could not do anything for us. I talked to Stephanie and she said I should have sent it back, but we could not find our waitress. She was rude, didn't care about customer service at all. the view is great. Terrible Experience. Got sited quickly and order given but went all down hill from there. Took almost two hours to get our and most of it came extremely cold and inedible. Soup and French fries were cold. Service was not good as our waitress kept getting pulled away for kitchen duty and large groups. Had to go search for one 3-4 times. Drink orders and refills, non existent. Having small kids, this was not okay and we needed to feed them and leave. To top it off the waitress never came back after taking our credit card and the hostess came back with the final recpt. but without our credit card. Even we hadn't had to stop on the way out of town we would not have realized. Although it was retrieved it took having to go back to get it. Now have to go thru the pain of cancelling the card. If you're in Rockport, Texas, I highly recommend Moondog Seaside Eatery. The food quality was excellent, and everything we ordered tasted fantastic. The chicken-fried steak was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and tasted great, and the nachos were honestly some of the best I've had in a very long time. The atmosphere was enjoyable, the food was fresh, and the overall experience was outstanding. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Rockport. Highly recommended! read more

We stopped at Moondog Eatery in Fulton and absolutely loved our experience! The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, with beautiful waterfront views that make it the perfect place to sit back and enjoy a meal. The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. YoWhether you're a local or just passing through, Moondog is definitely worth a stop. Right on the water! We watched a dolphin play as we drank our ice cold beer. Server was wonderful! We had the brisket quesadillas and the shrimp quesadillas.. Wasnt the most incredible food ever but went nicely with our beer. The patio area is one to come back to. Enjoyed this place quite a bit! Will be a returning customer! read more

Hit and miss. Ate here 3 times. Gumbo was spicy (good), could use more protein though. Of our party, nobody liked the fried oysters. The grouper sandwich was a solid four stars. There are "street" cats that roam the restaurant, and the service is a bit slow. read more

Went there for dinner. My wife loved their Ahi Tuna salad. But it was expensive. The view was great but atmosphere was a little dead and THEY CLOSED AT LIKE 0830 or 0900. Maybe next summer itll be a little more lively. read more

Servers and managers eat off peoples plates before serving them to customers from what I heard and that makes sense because when they come out they try to hurry up and swallow food before going to their table read more

We are regulars there and they are consistently good. Food and alcohol with full service bar. Management stays on top of their waitstaff. Much nicer since they are at new location. read more
