We ordered takeout from Moonga on a recent trip to Colorado. We were guided by the area we were in and the high praise on Yelp. The online ordering was easy. However, within a few minutes of placing the order I received a call, wanting to confirm which location I had wanted to place the order through. I had accidentally chosen the wrong location so they canceled my order and had me place it again online. They called the other individual I was with who also placed an order. This must happen pretty often if they're calling every single person that places an online order and I will say that I did not notice that I picked the wrong location when I placed the order. So I was grateful that they called to confirm. The order was ready when we arrive to the location and everything was accurate. I started with edamame. And I will say it is pretty standard edamame. I also wanted to try a California roll. It was really fresh and I would definitely order one again. My favorite of the appetizers was that Gyoza. Those were so good. I always order them with Ramen in Kansas City but these knocked any of those out of the park. For Ramen, I went with a classic tonkatsu. The menu description said that it came with corn and bok choy, but I was missing both of those items. The Ramen itself was really good. The broth was super rich and they gave you a lot. There were also a lot of Ramen noodles. And I did like the addition of the bamboo shoots. The marinated egg was fantastic. This classic was so tasty. If I lived in the area, I would definitely visit pretty often. There's so many different menu items that looked so good and I'm sure the other Ramen varieties are fantastic as well. read more

My second time here and I think it's pretty comparable to others in the area. We got the special treatment today. Our waitress added a Buddha to the serving tray and we ordered wasabi infused Tobiko. To preface, my boyfriend and I are big sushi fans so we were very excited to try this place. It was my boyfriend's birthday so we came here to celebrate and it did not disappoint! This will definitely be one of our new favorites for sushi, ramen or Japanese food. I want to say it's hidden on the side of a Lone Tree shopping center or right across the Lone Tree DMV? Anyways, just the right size, not that big or small. Adequate and comfortable seating and tables, maybe 6 seats upfront at the sushi bar. Love the Hoshizaki cases, a sign of a good sushi restaurant. We tried a bunch of different dishes, I opted to try sushi sashimi platter for one with some miso soup. My sister and brother n law's family tried everything from a selection of sushi rolls, to spicy ramen, white truffles tuna, to honey walnut shrimp, takoyaki, inari, unagi, crab ragoons...etc. Stop by this great spot for Sushi & Ramen you won't be disappointed. Sadly, this place needs a thorough cleaning. It was off putting enough never to return. The food was just OK. Server was very nice. Like others, I'm very surprised this place has 4 stars. We have not been here since the new name. The restaurant is much nicer, a bit more compartmentalized than before. We had the Spicy Crispy Tuna as an appetizer. Taco, Sake Toro, Hamachi, Hamachi Toro, Unagi, Hirami Nigiri with Spicy Tuna Naruto Roll, Negihamachi Roll, and Golden Roll. Service was fantastic, she noticed I had checked off an appetizer and said she would get the kitchen working on that while we finished deciding. I just moved to Lone Tree from Evergreen so decided to try Moonga for lunch as I have eaten at their Evergreen location often with good results. The service was okay and the ambiance was quaint but the food was not very good at all. I ordered six Unagi sushi which arrived cold and mushy. I also ordered two salmon sushi which again was soft, mushy and nearly tasteless. Additionally I ordered two flying fish roe sushi which weren't bad but were a bit too fishy. I got to know this quaint neighborhood sushi restaurant in Lone Tree today so I'm writing a quick review of my today's to-go experience. The service was excellent. The lady who took me to the sushi bar for the to-go order I placed and the man who assisted me for my bill/check were very courteous and polite to me. The inside was very clean; almost spotless. This restaurant is pretty small so it doesn't hold a lot of people but this would be a nice place for a quick sushi lunch or weekday dinner for two. I was pretty impressed with my Negihamachi Roll and that was my favorite thing out of all the 4 items I ordered. I'd go back for more of that to be frank. I do enjoy going to a high-end restaurant for a very nice sushi but I certainly appreciate those smaller places that exist in our neighborhoods in the greater Denver where you don't necessarily have to break our banks. She clearly forgot to enter our order, then tried to blame it on the kitchen being busy even though tables all around us were receiving their food. We waited over an hour with our kids to get food. It's not every day my husband asks to go out on a date. So when he does AND suggests sushi (even though he's not a fan what so ever)....YOU take full advantage! At the recommendation of his coworker, we settled on Okinawa - as we heard it was 1) insanely delicious and 2) close to home. So after a long day at work, we headed over and were not disappointed. Here's why: STAR #1: Located in a strip mall, the location seems a little unassuming, but having driven past there many a time, I knew where it was right away. Parking can be a bit tough at times due to the amount of surrounding businesses, but we had no issue! The interior is decorated with intimate lighting and open seating with a view of the sushi chefs creating their magic. We were greeted instantly and led to a table near the large windows, which was perfect for us! STAR #2: Staff was friendly throughout our visit, from greeting us, bringing us waters (and wine), gave us ample time to check out the massive menu, promptly brought our food/sauces and boxed up our leftovers within record time. STAR #3: HOLY YUM! The huge menu features just about anything anyone could want. We started off with seaweed salad and goyza before diving into our dinner - 3 sushi rolls (Unagi, Spicy Tuna and Alaska Roll) while my husband chose the Chicken Teriyaki which he seemed to be pleased with. Everything tasted insanely fresh and totally cured my sushi craving. Portions are huge, and allowed for leftovers the next day - which was a nice treat! STAR #4: Pricing was on point - as my rolls averaged about $7 per roll, while my husband's meal was around $16! For the quality and quantity, it was an incredible deal. If moonga has zero haters, it's cause I'm dead Edit: waitress came by once 15 mins in to drop us off waters and let us know the menu was on the barcode. Fled before we could ask for anything. I already knew five minutes in that I wasn't going to tip but it took my fiancée a solid half hour before she said she was ok with walking out. Went somewhere else and had a much nicer time. This used to be Okinawa sushi now rebranded to Moonga adding ramen to their menus. When I walked in, I really enjoyed their remodeling. They made the interior look more Japan inspired. It was really gorgeous. I personally enjoyed it. The service was on the slower side. The restaurant was slow so I was expecting to place our order quicker than not. We enjoyed everything we ordered especially their monkey brain. Highly recommend trying it as an appetizer. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Definitely have to come back to try their ramen. If you're in the Lone tree area, and on the look out for new places to try, go ahead and add Moonga to your list. read more

Tried Okinawa for the first time on Friday night, and I'm so glad they're less that 10 minutes away! Food was excellent, Sushi was extremely fresh & that's fundamental. You may ask, why then not 5 stars, well they got 4 from me because everything was perfect, but I brought it home & had Take Out. I try to reserve 5 stars for Dine In places. Okinawa is definitely worth a dine in, the dining room looks great. They're in a strip mall, so parking had plenty of options. I'd say the place was around 3/4 full & my Take Out order was waiting for me on a shelf with others. The food was neatly packaged. You can tell that the sushi chefs, chefs & waitresses really care about the food they present. Started off with the Wonton Sushi Tacos, fresh & delicious. The wonton shell was fried up a couple minutes ago, and the sushi on it was excellent, Then the sushi rolls: Black Dragon Roll=It was HUGE, had Tempura fried shrimp throughout, with spicy crab also & topped with eel and avocado. Also got the Crazy Tuna Roll= Black pepper tuna & avocado inside & topped with spicy tuna & a special sauce. Excellent roll!! The Kobe beef roll was next, and it was excellent as well! The beef was extremely tender & the roll was wrapped with a colored Soy paper instead of the traditional Nori. The last roll I tried was their Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll= I'll admit that every sushi place I go to, I always try the Spicy Tuna, I guess that's one of the ways I judge a place. Food is solid. Glad I found my go to place near home. The service is pretty slow. It took at least 20 mins to get our meal and we showed up pretty early for dinner (5pm) . The crispy won ton was a little soft for my liking but the fish was super fresh and flavorful. Actually all of the fish was really good. Spicy Girl definitely had that kick we were looking for while the Shrek roll was unique and so tasty. They are located at the end of a strip mall in a pretty nondescript location. It doesn't look like much but we don't judge books by their covers around here. Our service was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary or above and beyond. The restaurant looked and felt clean.
