Best meal we had during our Boston trip by far! Our evening started out with the hosts greeting us, and wishing us a happy anniversary. Once we sat down, our first pleasant surprise was happy anniversary being printed on the menus! The waitstaff is fantastically trained and very attentive. We ordered an Out of Office to drink, which was both delicious and appropriately named. Parker rolls showed up before our menu and were hot, fluffy, buttery, and had a hint of sea salt. In a word, perfect. We each ordered an 8 oz filet mignon, one medium well, the other well done. Each was cooked to perfection and melted on our mouths along with the addition of the garlic butter. The side of whipped potatoes was smooth goodness. Finally, the chocolate cake had a rich and vibrant flavor. Bonus points for the restaurant adding happy anniversary on the cake plate. Mooo is really a very special restaurant with a wonderful location, food, and staff. If we are ever back in Boston, we would not hesitate to stop by again! read more

One of, if not the best meal I've ever had and truly deserves 6/5 stars. We went out for an early Valentine's Day dinner and Moooo didn't disappoint. We ordered the bone marrow and ceviche for apps. The ceviche was good, but the bone marrow was amazing. It comes with 2 big bones, a bowl of demi, and a roasted head of garlic served with 4 thick pieces of tasted buttered bread. It was amazing For entrees my wife ordered the shrimp pasta and I got the dry aged bone-in steak. The pasta was heavy and rich, but it was so good. It came with 8 massive shrimp and my wife nearly made a dent. My steak was amazing. I didn't order any sauces for it, but the compound butter that's served with the steak was all I needed. For sides we ordered the tater tots with truffle aioli and the brussel sprouts. Both sides were amazing. I was bummed we were so full because there were a few items I wanted to try for dessert. Next time, oh next time. Besides the food, service was top notch where our server, support staff, and the manager were all very attentive and personable. I was really exciting to try Mooo and I have to say, I was a bit let down. Starting with the drinks, everybody ordered the Flaming Mooo which was impressive and rather refreshing. The table also ordered a bottle of wine that the server recommended which was very good too. For food, we started with a few sides as appetizers and then ordered steak and dessert. For sides, we ordered the exotic mushrooms, spinach, and truffle fries. These dishes were good, but there was nothing all that special about them. For the main (steak) course, I ordered the tenderloin of beef Wellington which was absolutely delicious. Others at the table ordered the New York sirloin au poivre and the 8 oz filet with béarnaise sauce, all of which were tasty. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake -- easily my favorite part of the meal. It was rich, decadent, creamy, and was exactly what I was hoping a chocolate cake at Mooo would be! Our waiter was attentive and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu as well as the differences between the different cuts of meat (he thoroughly walked us through each of their characteristics). My main gripe with Mooo is the price -- while the food was very good, I don't feel that it was worth the high price tag. I've had several pricey meals that were worth every penny and my experience at Mooo just wasn't to that level. Had the beef Wellington been ~$35, this review would probably be five stars. However, I was missing the extra flare that I think should have been considering the price. Overall, the food and service was quite good. With that being said, I think there are equally good restaurants that are much less expensive. If price is not an issue, then I would encourage you to try Mooo; otherwise check out one of the many other excellent options around Boston! read more

I'm not sure if it's because I eat a lot in Miami and other cities that take good seriously but for me this restaurant was just ok. Initially our server seemed very disconnected as if he hates being there so I try to look past that since anyone can have a bad day. For our first course we decided on the japanese wagyu beef dumplings and they were slightly undercooked as if they were not steamed all the way. The flavor of the beef was "different" but not in the typical way wagyu has but in an off putting way. I decided to have the Branzino and that was disappointing. Little to no seasoning or flavor and was a bit overcooked. The brown butter meunière was not a benefit to the dish at all. The wine that was used was not fully cooked though and showed up as a bitter taste. The best item on my plate was the roasted exotic mushrooms! Those were 10 out of 10! So much flavor there! My boyfriend had the australian wagyu sirloin and he enjoyed it. Unfortunately the Mac & cheese did not have the fate. The roux was very grainy and reminded us of instant Mac & cheese. I have been wanting to come here for a while now and the wait was so worth it. I will have to say this is now our FAVORITE restaurant in the city. Our waiter Jeffrey went above and beyond to answer any questions we had about the menu. We were the last table at the restaurant and we did not feel rushed whatsoever to finish dinner. Jeffrey definitely made our experience even more enjoyable. Now for the food... For starters, we ordered the wagyu dumplings and the tuna tartare. I usually order tartare at most restaurants I dine at but, this one by far exceeds those. The wagyu dumplings were tender on the inside with a sauce I wanted to lick off the plate. The only downfall was the excessive amount of cilantro garnish--some people love cilantro but I don't enjoy it. For entrees, I indulged in the beef Wellington. This was the highlight of the night. The crust was crispy on the outside and the beef on the inside was cooked to perfection. The wine reduction should be bottled and sold so you can drink it straight from the bottle. My boyfriend ordered the rib cap steak (not pictured) and he stated that was one of the best steaks he has ever had. The crème brûlée was a perfect end to dinner. SO GOOD. SO WORTH IT! We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary. We have never been before but had many people recommend Mooo. We came earlier than our reservation to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail. The bartender was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had a few drinks off their newly introduced summer drink menu and they were all delicious. The Carmen Sandiego was our favorite. While sitting at the bar, we ordered the steak tartare (suggested by the bartender) and it was DELICIOUS! Definitely recommend trying that! When seated at our table, we were wowed by our server's knowledge, welcoming presence, and the overall quality of service that we received. Mooo has a way of adding small, yet important touches to the experience. Our menus were personalized to wish us a Happy Anniversary, which was so nice. For dinner, we ordered two of the ribeye offerings; the newly added Mishima Wagyu Ribeye and the Dry aged Prime ribeye. Both were delicious (Mishima was considerably more tender, and melt-in-your-mouthy). The pan seared foie gras that we added to the dry-aged ribeye was our favorite part. Very well worth the additional $19. For side dishes, we ordered the creamed spinach and the truffled cauliflower gratin. Skip the creamed spinach, but definitely try the cauliflower. The creamed spinach was a bit too liquidy, nutmegy, and was lacking salt. The truffled cauliflower gratin on the other hand, was incredible!!! We went to moo on Halloween night to celebrate our anniversary since we were in town. After some recommendations and research we decided moo would be the best resturant for that occasion. We arrived a little early and we were seated right away. We ordered drinks after a few minutes of checking out the menu and waited about 20 mins for those to arrive. We then put some apps in. We started with the wagyu dumplings which were a little bland, I was really hoping they would be just a bit better, but still good. The tuna tartare was very good and so was the iceberg salad. As the apps arrived we put in our mains. I went with the porterhouse and lobster Mac to share. My girlfriend went with the bone marrow. Unfortunately it took an hour for us to receive our mains. I will say the steak was cooked perfectly and it was absolutely delicious. The lobster Mac was definitely a bit different than most other steakhouses but really good as well. The bone marrow was overly salted. All and all moo is a beautiful spot but the service just really lacked that night. The manager did approach us after our mains and asked how everything went. We did discuss how long things took to come out and he generously took care of some apps, which they certainly didn't have to do. Excellent dining experience all around - I can't recommend Mooo enough! I came for a birthday dinner and they even have personalised menus saying happy birthday at the top. A small but really effective touch. They started us off with complimentary bread rolls which were so light and fluffy, I'm ready to steal a recipe. We got the oysters and cap steaks and a sirloin. All were incredible, mine was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. For sides we got whipped potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and creamed spinach - all excellent. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and was surprised that it wasn't too busy. The dining area is surprisingly small though the decor was modern and inviting. Items that we had: Complimentary bread: Soft bread roll with a pillowy interior. Quite good though the salt on the top is a bit too much in my opinion. Definitely delicious. Crispy potato tots - $13 - Not bad especially with the tiger sauce they provide. However when comparing it with the tater tots at Grill 23 they fail to compete both in flavor AND quantity. Grilled shrimp baby kale salad - $24 - Huge pieces of shrimp in this (though only 4 pieces came with it). Flavor was good though at $24 it was a bit steep. For the quantity though $18 would have been a better value point Garganelli Bolognese - $15 (small) - This was good. The sauce and pasta was tender and the flavor was savory and delicious. Australian ribeye - $43 - The steak was cooked to ordered. I wish however that it was more tender. The bone marrow butter that came with it was a good addition that gave it a lot more flavor. Sorbet dessert - $11 - Flavors were very fresh. Grapefruit was probably my least favorite as it was VERY tart. Wife loved it however. Service wasn't bad though it could have been more attentive. Overall if I could be precise a 3.5 star would be a more accurate rating HOWEVER there are items on the dinner menu that we'd be willing to return to try so a 4 star seems fair. read more

We had both dinner and breakfast here as we were conveniently staying at the hotel XV Beacon which is right above the restaurant. Let's start with dinner: The ambiance is beautiful. Very classy and clean. And very dark. A great ambiance to treat your mistress. ( And I seriously, I do not kid, we were seated next to a rich old white guy with a gorgeous light-skinned mixed African American woman who was at least 30 years her senior. No judgement tho, you gotta do what you gotta do. No shame in their game) +++. We ordered the wagyu pot stickers. Yum. Tender and savory and a little tangy from the red sauce it was in. ++ Okay. For entree, my friend ordered the 65 day aged 16 oz. steak medium rare. It came out medium. I'd expect a little bit of a dark red center in spite of it being dry aged, when you press down on its tenderness maybe a tiny bleed (which it did not) so was closer to medium. They were happy to provide a second steak and made sure she was happy the second time around. Second time around the steak was the right color but my friend said it was still a little difficult to cut her meat than you would expect. The beautiful mysterious mistress sitting next to our table also commented "Yeah, I had a hard time too with my steak" and made the motion of cutting in the air as she said this. My friend finished the steak nonetheless. ++ Okay also. I ordered the 8oz. filet mignon with the extra foie gras to top it off. I do love and appreciate that it was a VERY generous piece of foie gras. My filet mignon , again, was cooked closer to medium than medium rare but I'll accept. It was okay. The edges were also a little crispy on the outside. I could have spoken up but I didn't want to be a bother. It was acceptably pink for me in the center. Breakfast: ++ Okay. My friend ordered the salmon with capers and cream cheese on a bagel. She says it was okay. ++ Okay. I ordered the blueberry pancakes which was also...just okay. My taste buds weren't jumping for joy. It tasted rather plain. The blueberries in my pancakes didn't add that special pizzazz, the berries weren't sweet nor tarty nor citrusy, kinda just blah. The maple syrup helped a little bit but it wasn't satiable enough to finish my serving even when shared with my friend between the two of us. If you agree with me,I feel taste is #1 priority. People would still pay top dollar for excellent food even if the service was crap and if it was a hole-in-the-wall. But the place is beautiful. The service is excellent. The food is okay. And for a fancy high end restaurant I do have higher expectations bc you're paying a higher dollar for quality food. Everything about Mooo... is high class and top dollar but the taste is not up to par that I'd expect with the standard of high-end dining. We came here with my boyfriend's family and it was pretty quiet and well lit for the parents to enjoy. We ordered: App: escargot Sides: mushrooms, creamed spinach, and brussel sprouts Main dish: wagyu steak Dessert: pumpkin cheesecake The worst part of the meal was the brussel sprouts. It was just ok - not very crispy or flavorful. However everything else was pretty darn good. The mushroom side was actually one of my favorite dishes - it had a lot of good flavors going on and the mushrooms were cooked really well. The creamed spinach as probably one of the best creamed spinach I've had. The escargot had a really good sauce that I kept going back for with more bread. The wagyu steak was really good too but a bit of a disappointment. I thought it'd be more tender and a "melt in your mouth" sensation, but actually was more like a regular steak. The flavors were still good, but maybe not worth $90. The pumpkin cheesecake was super thick and the spices weren't overpowering either. My friends and I were blown away by the classy, yet unpretentious vibe of the restaurant along with the impeccable service of our waiter, Gabriel! He was warm and inviting and along with the back waiters enhanced an absolutely perfect meal. From the calamari to the perfectly seasoned steaks--I ordered the melt-in-your-mouth dry aged bone-in ribeye--along with amazing cocktails and complementary wine, fantastic sides--get the onion rings! Food is really good! I got the Brandt prime ribeye steak, medium rare. It was cooked perfectly. The flavor was good (not too salty), and I liked the pieces that were by the fat. We got the truffle fries, which were perfectly crunchy and salty. I loved that they were thin fries. The sautéed spinach and garlic was good too, not really salty but it was good since the other items we were eating had enough salt. At the end, little chocolate covered marshmallow + cookie was served with the check. It was yummy. All the servers were nice and were refilling our waters often. Our main server was calm, reserved, and not too welcoming, but did an okay job overall with being attentive. The atmosphere inside was really nice, relaxing, and classy. The chairs were comfortable. The restrooms were clean and nice, but the all soap dispensers weren't working well in the womens restroom. Overall, a good place to get steak. read more

First thing is the free brioche bread! So soft, so fluffy, with the butter and sea salt on top, it's amazing I had to get seconds. Then the bone marrow as an appetizer is larger than an entree probably. There are also other options like steak tartare and wagyu dumplings which I also recommend. For the main course, we got the beef Wellington, with foie gras inside is just so tender and juicy. Not to sound cliche, but it's like melting in your mouth! Same with the creek farm dry aged ribeye, it is a must get! Not only that; we couldn't finish it all and reheated next day and they are still tender and juicy, just unbelievable. They had multiple sanitation stations around the restaurant complete with masks which was a nice touch. They had an extensive liquor menu which is a plus and a great whistle pig selection which is my husband's favorite. My dirty martini was on point! Our server was wonderful, im gluten free so he was able to make suggestions and had the chef make some small adjustments to the menu so I was able to enjoy everything! They even had gluten free bread which was huge, you don't find that at many restaurants!! We got a cesar salad to split, oysters and my husband got the wagu beef dumplings. Perfection seems to be the goal of this restaurant and it's reflected in the food and service. Generous portions, excellent quality, nicely prepared and best of all everything was delicious. Yes, it's fairly expensive but I didn't leave thinking I overpaid for the dinner. Highlights from our selections: Wagyu dumplings - nice asian flavor with good amount of Wagyu steak filling in each dumpling. Tenderloin of Beef Wellington - hearty portion for one and excellent taste in each bite, especially with the foie gras tucked in at the top with the spinach and steak. Aussie Wagyu Sirloin with Madeira and black truffle- generously portioned steak for Wagyu, perfectly prepared as were the filet mignons also ordered by our table. Madeira and back truffles on the side was extra but worth the added flavor it brought to the steak. Shareable slides included the large asparagus with hollandaise, mashed Wine suggestions from our server/sommelier were all incredible pairings to our meals. Desserts were just as incredible as the the mains and sides: Bananas foster - large portion, plates beautifully, the pour of the warmed butter rum sauce with tiny banana cubes on top of the caramelized bananas and ice cream was delectable mix of sweet, cold and warm. Creme brûlée -traditional, smithy creamy and not too sweet. Chocolate cake-also traditional but appropriately sweet and a nice, large slice. Nothing like having some left over to have later and remind yourself of the great meal you had at this restaurant Sergio was our server and sommelier for the evening. I don't think we could have had anyone better. He was knowledgeable, personable, patient, and selected the best bottles for our meal. The tongue in cheek I believe it was called. I made a better cocktail at home the night before. Also, service itself was good but the server was definitely a little off. Great brunch. Very nice interior and location. The brunch menu is very reasonable and the food very good .
