Burger on a gluten free roll
    Dot K.

We came for lunch on Saturday and sat at the bar. We were taken care of by Sara, who made recommendations and answered our many questions. We ordered the burger and roast beef sandwich. The burger was very tasty and the gluten free roll was good. The roast beef was perfectly cooked, stacked high on a delicious house made roll. We ordered the red pepper infused potato salad, which was very good. Many of the Tapas that we were interested in trying were already sold out for the day. This lovely place has a free parking lot. The service was excellent and our lunch was delicious.

How have I never written a review of Moriartys Cafe? I love this place and we frequently stop here for lunch before going to Wegmans to shop so we don't shop hungry. The potato salad on the tapas menu is a must have and I wish I had the recipe. With its red pepper olive oil and vinegar base it is really so delicious, decadent and refreshing. I love trying new tapas items and frequently get all of the $2.50 options. If there is a sandwich on focaccia you can bet that bread was made in house and that it's amazing. Get it. I recently had the best salad of my life here as well which was roasted beets, arugula, nuts and goat cheese with a really nice mustard based vinaigrette. We have also done paid special four course dinners with wine pairings here with friends and the experience has been lovely and equally delicious. I really can't say enough. Come and try the food made with local meats and vegetables yourself.

The food here is absolutely delicious, nearly perfect! And, I'd be surprised if anyone disagreed once they tried it. We went for lunch on a Friday about noon. It's a small space with two top tables, bar tables and bar seating. I was initially a little confused as to what to do when we walked in. There's no sign at first to direct you. I assumed there'd be table service, and there is...kind of. What you're supposed to do is go ahead and pick a table and then get your menu from a service stand near one end of the bar. This is also where you'll order and pay once you choose what you want. Your food and drinks are brought to you still (and cleared for you), it was good service...I was just confused initially. This place feels pretty upscale, but casual. It's not really a linger-around kind of casual, though...the crowd and bustling around keep it from being a very relaxing environment for me. I read in other reviews that this is a European style cafe, but I don't know anything about that. We were in and out very quickly. They are only open for lunch, from 11 am to 4 pm. The portions are a little smaller for WNY and the prices are too; I'd like to see more of that around here (smaller portions at lower prices). I would 100% recommend this place, and will definitely be back myself...and it'll go more smoothly this time now that I know what to expect. Thank you, Moriarty Meats Cafe Bar!

Instantly when I walked in, I fell in love. The ambiance is stellar, the service is wonderful and the food - if I could have one sandwich the rest of my life, it would be the sandwiches here. It is that good. Also, they have gluten free rolls, so that is a win! My boyfriend and I saddled up at the bar. We shared a beet and strawberry salad, which was delicious. We had never thought to put the two together. I went with the burger with a gluten free bun. That burger was one of the best I have tasted. It was simple, but yet so complex. My boyfriend went with the roast beef and he enjoyed it. The roast beef looked like how I like to eat it, and honestly my mouth was watering looking at his food. The vibes of this place transport you to another time and place and you think you are on vacation. Try the food here, and then go next door and buy some delicious meat for later.

Neat cafe with quick and friendly service. Retro-international vibe. There were about 4 entrees on the menu, as well as a specials menu that includes tapas. There were plenty of drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and I opted for the unsweetened iced tea, which was served on ice and garnished with a lemon wheel, it was refreshing! The shashlik was pretty good, as well as both the tapas we tried. You probably shouldn't be surprised by the name, but there are very limited vegetarian options. Cute place for a quick bite, I'd love to come here again.

Rainy day. Missed the parking lot twice. Tiny marital spat before we actually found it. Thrilled we found it. Saved the marriage. Jk but it could! It really could. We were celebrating so we sat at the bar and enjoyed champagne before our food got there. The space alone is enchanting and worth the visit. And Hannah, our bar tender was so much fun and made the experience seem even more elevated. The Brussels looks unassuming. They aren't the fried fan favorite of so many places. But they packed a big punch. We ate the few leftovers with our breakfast the next morning, still yummy. We spent 20 minutes while eating and then the entire ride home trying to figure out how to recreate them. Burgers and weck. You can get these items anywhere in WNY but these were special. The beef on weck was so tender and flavorful. Plus, the roll, come on! The Burger was like, and I mean this is the best way, what Mr. McDonalds imagined his burger could be if it had perfectly medium cooked burger with those crispy edges and thin, vinegar pickles. Look at that cheese. We will be back. And I want to try everything else on the menu!

Went here for lunch recently and loved it. The vibe is going for an European Cafe style and they hit it pretty close as far as I can tell. Their menu is small but oh so good... More on that soon. There is a placard on every table that encourages you to not use your phone while there and instead talk to people. I'm not sure if it's seat yourself or if you need to check in at the pay station that is towards the back. They don't offer full table service. You need to go up to the pay station to place your order and they then bring it to you. Now let's talk about the food. First is the tappas, what I had was awesome. They are reasonably priced and oh so good. Full disclosure I just asked for ones that looked good and the first one had ham and housemade mustard, delish, and another that had shrimp also delish. They were just one bite and the flavors danced across my tongue in the most delightful manner. I also got the porchetta sandwich and oh boy talk about flavor. It was exquisitely prepared and I ate it as slowly as I could so I could savor every bite. The pork skin was perfectly rendered and so crispy. The pork itself so tender and flavorful and juicy. I will be back for sure. It's worth noting that with their butcher shop next door they are butchering and preparing all their Meats including the sausages. Please I implore you to go here. It's elevated food without all the hubris and pretension.

The ham & potato coquettes at Moriarty Meats Cafe are the BEST THING I ate last weekend, and one of the best things I've eaten since moving to Buffalo. First of all, they arrived very hot on a very cold day- so hot that when you split one open, steam gushed out- and almost the soft insides too, if not careful. Perfect. I couldn't tell if the filling contained any cheese- but it was a very loose, aromatic potato puree with absolutely glorious, little chunks of ham mixed in. Maybe thyme-infused oil or something else herby and piquant too? Carefully salted- just enough to make the potato taste more like itself. An exquisite balance. I ate it while it was still too hot and burning my fingers a little because I couldn't wait. It comes topped with a dollop of seasoned mayonnaise (tastes like kewpie- the BEST) that's such a lovely addition- I spread it out over as much of the outside as I could in between bites. I'm not sure if these were deep-fried or air-fried or what, but they were CRISP. My only suggestion for improvement... "If they have a deep fat fryer," my partner asked, "why don't they make beef tallow fries?" I think these may have been a special, so I hope they keep them on the menu !

I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at this Spanish restaurant…read more The ambiance was perfect for me--soft lighting, just the right amount of music, and a touch of romance permeated the air. Here, people could converse naturally, and time seemed to slow down. The food was exceptionally well-cooked. Classic Spanish dishes were prepared to perfection, with fresh ingredients, distinct layers of flavor, and rich complexity. Paired with a glass of red wine, it felt less like a dinner and more like a savorable experience. The service was warm and attentive, yet perfectly balanced, without making me feel intrusive, which I always appreciate. If I had to nitpick, a few dishes didn't quite impress me, but overall, the restaurant's atmosphere and the experience made up for it. I'll definitely bring my friends here next time! LOL

The owner was socializing instead of helping his staff out. Worst of all was the food. They don't have a proper kitchen, they are literally cooking food on hot plates behind the bar. I was shocked and unsure how they could possibly have passed any inspection or get a permit. The refrigeration and freezer is across the room so the staff has to continually go across the room to get ingredients for drinks and food. There was a power strip swinging from the bar to provide power for decorative lights. It seemed like an accident waiting to happen. The food quality was terrible. Soggy pizza, soft flavorless pasta but again they don't have a proper cooking area. They need to either stop selling food or build a real kitchen with proper refrigeration and that the customers can't see into.

Excellent service!…read more From the moment we walked in we were greeted and welcomed heartily. We were the only customers and literally had this place to ourselves the entire time. Made for a 5 star private dining type experience that although I appreciated, I couldn't quite understand as the food was magnificent. If you're looking for a great meal that won't leave you heavy and weighed down, this is it! I had the lasagna because I was told by the chef and the friendly waiter that it was fresh hand made pasta and didn't use ricotta cheese. A total winner for me (not a ricotta fan). It was delicious! Melted in my mouth. Buttery, velvet-like texture to the pasta makingit delightfully delicate. Nice balance of sauce and cheese. Meats had a great flavor. I didn't like I had to order a full appetizer size salad because they didnt offer side salads, but the salad was good as well. My birthday guest ordered the NY Strip steak of which I took a taste. It was FULL of flavor and cooked as ordered. Tender and everything you'd hope for in a steak entree. The mashed potatoes were another story. Lacked flavor and I don't care for the chunky mashed potatoes. I like my mashed thick, but creamy, buttery, and seasoned. I do not recommend them. This review is a 5 due to service and both main's being excellent. The chef honored the birthday boy with a complimentary homemade tiramasu that was airy, slightly sweet, great textures of crunch on top, moose in the middle, and spongyness on bottom. The fruit as garnish paired well, but as we shared the slice it made me wonder "if this is REAL, fresh made tiramasu, I have no idea what "tiramasu" I've been eating all these years." So good! I had no idea why this place was empty at 3pm on a Saturday, but my guess is they are new. Once the word is out I'm sure business will pick up. At least I hope, because I'd love to bring my son back to try so he can compare to his culinary experience in Italy. The restaurant itself was very clean...including the bathroom. My daiare wasn't fond of the hard wooden chairs. The ambiance is more bright, sophisticated modern than dark, tavern-esque as the name may suggest. Check them out and tell Chef Stephen I sent you

Christopher arrived, shared a very loud video to attempt to entice us to order the specials; however, several were not available. We had browsed the menu ahead of time and had our choices in mind. We also advised we were hoping to make the show at Revolver Records, if that wasn't too much of an issue for the kitchen staff. My companion ordered the salmon, broccoli, and rice while I ordered the smoked salmon tagliatelle. My companion was pleased with her entree even though her rice was a ridiculous amount of chunky skin-on potatoes and she was not informed that there was a menu change, while I was disappointed at the lack of salmon in the dish. A cute rosette on top with a few flakes scattered throughout does not make for a salmon dish. Christopher was friendly and helped my companion with a replacement napkin (from the waist band of his apron) when hers blew off her lap and onto the sidewalk. Finally, we waited quite some time for the bill, then for the bill to be processed. The reatrooms are gender neutral and adequately lit and stocked; however, patrons are required to climb a set of stairs to reach the restrooms. Other patrons that we conversed with during our meal were still on the patio when we left the jazz show next door and when we asked how dessert was, that we mught be coming back from "round two", they said not to bother because most of the desserts were out of stock. Convenient for our plans but sadly nothing special to write home about. If I were to return, I'd ask for the salmon & broccoli entree and confirm the starch was lemon rice per the menu.

We were seated right away. We did have reservations, but we didn't see anyone waiting all night. We got lots of appetizers to split amongst the table: the mushroom dumplings, cucumber salad, one of each of the fresh rolls, 1000 broccoli, and some type of bread with cheese that I'm actually not sure what it was called and after looking at their menu again I can't find it, but I'm attaching a picture for reference. I would absolutely get the bread and the broccoli again. Those were our tables favorites. Everything else was still delicious. I got the chicken and broccoli lomein, large size, medium spice. The spice level was great. The portion size was very generous and I took home leftovers. I will say they do charge you $3 for the large size to get a mix of chicken and broccoli so be aware of that. The waitress did warn us which I appreciate. I did enjoy the lomein noodles. I tried our friend's hand cut noodles and udon. They were all great and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was super kind and helpful. With a large group she handled us very well. She even split the bill multiple ways which we appreciated since I know that can be a pain. They forgot our friend's rice dish so she sat there for a while with no meal while the rest of us ate. After a while we notified the staff and they apologized and brought it out quickly and even took it off her bill without her asking which I was very impressed with. Most places would not do that. They did also charge .50 for going up a spice level which was interesting but not a huge deal. Also be prepared to sit for a while. We were a large group so understandable things take a while. We were there for a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes and that was just from the time we sat until we got the check. It seemed like our waitress was in charge of most of the restaurant. Besides those few things that went wrong I thought the service and quality of food made up for it.
