We ordered a wagu bone in rib eye, it was good but slightly under seasoned, the black miso cod, was incredible, kimchi fried rice, was delicious, fiery chocolate tart (a spin on s'mores) and chilled cheese cake soufflé for dessert, both were was wonderful. The chocolate tart dessert was a fun theatrical experience, the staff poured fire on the chocolate ball, watching it melt was entertaining. The geisha's secret cocktail was not that good, the waiter spilled some of it when he placed it on the table so the stem to my glass was sticky and was a mess to clean. We had the pleasure of visiting Morimoto at the MGM Grand on Saturday, April 4, and it was one of the best dining experiences ever! Every effort is made to make you feel both comfortable and special. One of the many details that makes Morimoto restaurant so distinctive is the glassware with an oval shape on the bottom and a circle on top. The cocktails were terrific, the Morimoto Kofu Old Fashioned with Japanese Whiskey and the Empress with lavender and honey. We had an immediate connection with Truman, our server, who was super knowledgeable about the original Japanese Iron Chef TV show back in the '90's. We used to watch it in the original Japanese with subtitles and Truman said he'd stay up late in college to watch it too. The Ishi Yaki Buri Bop is Hamachi (yellowtail) and rice cooked tableside in a hot stone bowl, and the Land and Ocean roll is fresh crab with Wagyu Beef and Sweet Shrimp. People say you eat with your eyes, but you eat with your nose, too, and the smell of the Hamachi and rice cooking in the hot stone bowl is an experience we will not forget. And the Land and Ocean Roll! It's brought out in a box and opened with a flourish of smoke, like an effect on Iron Chef. We felt like an Iron Chef judge, which is intention of the dish and for me was the best part of the meal. There are literally hundreds of restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip, but if you're a fan of excellent service and Asian Fusion or sushi or Wagyu Beef, you should put Morimoto at the top of your list. read more

This was probably one of the best restaurants that I have ever eaten at. And I have eaten at a lot of places, especially a lot of Japanese places. Every single dish that the server recommended for us was absolutely divine: but the fish that we got was melt in your mouth delicious to the point that I probably won't stop thinking about it for a long, long time. The fact that the server knew the menu well enough to recommend something from every facet of it and each thing was better than the last was very impressive. As someone who used to be in food service I was very impressed with the charasmaticness of our server and every person who dropped food at our table. They all seemed really love their jobs and that is a sign that the back of house is just as good as the front of house in my eyes. You can't beat the interior of this place either, it was gorgeous to look at but it is definitely a fancy date type place with a price tag to boot. But I definitely recommend trying if you are in Vegas and are a seafood lover. You won't find a better spot on the strip! read more

Went here for date night. I come to Vegas multiple times a year and stay with MGM I walk pass this establishment everyday but never went in. I'm so glad we chose to eat here. The fried chicken was so juicy and crunchy I loved it as well as our sushi rolls my guy had the salmon and whit rice the salmon has crispy skin and taste really good. I had a pear martini and he had red whine both were really good like my drink was delicious. The atmosphere was quiet the decor was cute and trendy it the perfect place for date night. The service was excellent we were one of the last guest of the night and didn't feel rushed I was able to get pics and enjoy our night. I would recommend the waiter knew the menu really well. My first time trying Chef Morimoto dishes. Laksa noodle soup tasted good with creamy tonkotsu broth. I tasted the coconut flavor in the soup with a little bit of curry taste. It came with this egg noodles. Clam miso was a white broth with clams in it. Even though it was a simple soup, I can taste it was made with clam juices and clam broth. Lobster bao bun had one lobster tail inside a soft and sweet white bun. The spicy aioli sauce was a needed ingredient and it supported the sweet and spicy flavors in this white bao bun. Prime filet mignon came with sizzling hot stone. Meat was tender with right amount of seasoning. Staff were attentive and provided good service. Review of Morimoto Las Vegas I dined solo at Morimoto on a Sunday evening, and the restaurant was surprisingly not very busy. I chose to sit at the sushi bar, which had plenty of open seating--but the initial experience was a bit awkward. Despite there being around eight open seats to my left, I was seated directly next to another diner on my right. What made this more uncomfortable was that several of the empty seats beside me hadn't been cleared from previous guests. There were used plates, napkins, and even half-full wine and water glasses sitting right next to me. It took nearly 15 minutes before anyone came to buss the area, which immediately made me question the level of service--especially for a restaurant of this caliber. That said, once things got going, the experience improved significantly. The server was warm, attentive, and offered excellent recommendations throughout the meal. The food itself was outstanding--each of the three courses I had was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The standout for me was the tuna pizza, which absolutely lived up to the hype. Overall, while the service at the start didn't meet expectations and detracted from the first impression, the quality of the food and the professionalism of the server helped turn the experience around. With better attention to seating and cleanliness, this could easily match the high-end dining experience it aims to deliver. read more

Had a pre- wedding dinner with family. I have always wanted to have dinner here. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was very knowledgeable. The ensures that we didn't order duplicates of sides as they were big enough to share. The cocktail menu had a large selection. Stated off with sushi, shrimp appetizer and oyster appetizers. I don't eat oysters but others in my party did. I ordered the filet mignon and the plate was sizzling which was a nice surprise! My cousin had the rib eye platter and the steak could have fed 2 or 3 people. My fiancé had chicken with vegetables. The cheesecake was not average at all and the molten chocolate was the best! Wow!!! The restaurant is beautiful and impeccably clean. We are long time Iron chef fans so beyond excited to dine. It did not disappoint. We started with Emerald Dragon cocktail which was showey and enjoyable. We started with a rock shrimp appetizer which were sweet and savory delicate bites of bold flavors of wasabi and chili a party in our mouths. Moved on to the star of the show the tiger roll. The fish was fresh, delicate and the roll was just fabulous. One might think the star would have been the wagyu rib eye that was brought out sizzling hot on a cast iron skillet. I mean don't get me wrong it was beyond amazing piece of meat but I couldn't stop thinking I wanted more sushi, unfortunately we were beyond full. I would say stick to the sushi unless you have a larger table to share the steak, it's huge! I mean can you really complain about a large wagyu steak?! This restaurant is always busy whenever I visit. They're located inside MGM, and you've to follow signs to get here. I've dined here a few times and I've been impressed every time. One of the things that I crave for would be the foie gras oyster, Japanese uni tray and their dessert. Their food is served pretty fast and taste better than Nobu in Caesar's. First time at Morimoto's to celebrate hubby's birthday. Hostess was great and seated us as we got there right at reservation time. Beautiful ambiance and felt much more intimate than the seating appeared. We had the miso soup, beet salad, yellowtail tacos, Wagyu carpaccio, oysters, engawa sushi, uni hand rolls and a large sashimi platter. Everything was really good. We had a second order of oysters and engawa sushi. In hindsight, it was our bad that we didn't order any dishes that would have reflected the Morimoto creative touch but all our orders were definitely top quality. We don't love sushi. We don't even like fish. But we recently had a terrific steak at Kumi in the Mandalay so we decided to give this place a shot. The service was great. The room is pretty. And we decided to at least try some sushi to go along with the vibe. The shrimp tempura roll was fresh but not earth-shattering. My SO loved the pork sticky ribs. I thought they were cloyingly sweet. I ate the sushi. He ate the ribs. We ordered one of the Waygu steaks to share and a side of rice - only because the side options are lacking - this isn't a steakhouse and for sure you're reminded when you see the available side dishes. The steak was just OK. There are better steaks in the building and again, you're reminded you aren't at a Vegas steak palace. Ours was really lacking in any discernable flavor and the steamed rice we ordered on the side, ostensibly to soak up the "signature sweet onion and garlic jus" was largely untouched. The sauce was not particularly good and didn't add anything. We took a slice of the cheesecake souffle to go. It was quite good. Probably the best thing we had there. This is so fluffy and light. Perfect ending to any meal. This clearly isn't for us and if you're coming here as a non-sushi eater, you've missed the boat (see what I did there?). The steaks aren't the strength, and they aren't meant to be. But a steak over $100 is still a steak over $100 and it needs to be great. This was good - not great. read more

Loved having dinner at Morimoto! Here is a breakdown of the food we ordered. Miso Soup: delicious savory soup with silken tofu, a nice start to the meal. Sticky Ribs: some of the better Asian ribs I've had. You can tell the meat was high quality and the mandarin glaze was absolutely amazing. Perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Chasu Pork: this was a great dish that they assemble tableside in a hot stone bowl! Eye catching plating and presentation of this dish. The food itself was solid but nothing amazing, but still a super fun dish to order. Soy Braised Cod: loved this dish! A soy braised cod is always solid and this one hit all the marks. Tender fish with a delicious sweet soy glaze. Morimoto Old Fashioned: this drink was delicious made with Japanese whiskey and brown sugar syrup. A great drink to accompany the meal. After walking past here hundreds of times and loving the vibes, I finally decided to take my wife to try Morimoto! Morimoto has some of the most tasty Japanese dishes I've ever had. The Hamachi was incredible, service was immediate and the ambiance was epic. My wife had the mixed greens with the white fish and it was probably the best thing I had that evening. After a few cocktails, our dishes and a few pieces of sushi we got the bill - extremely overpriced given the portions. We will be back, but probably only for a special occasion. read more

My husband and I were looking forward to a great dinner and we left disappointed. Our server, Ken K was good and what would be expected at a restaurant at this price point. He was efficient, ensured dishes were cleared but wasn't exceptional. By comparison to Napa, servers make recommendations and tell us what is special for the day. We received none of that. Maybe there were no specials or a specific seafood that was recommended by the chef. We ordered the chef's choice sushi 7 pcs. @ $90. The duck fried rice, a saki flight and kyuri/ cucumbers. The food overall was just ok and not exceptional. I've ordered exact offering of the chefs choice in several sizes in Napa, and have been very pleased with the quality and presentation. In Las Vegas the chefs choice sushi was fair and what anyone could find for sushi at most restaurants. If you want nothing special and pay 25% or more, this is your spot. There were many missed opportunities, server to share specials, point out what sushi was provided and if anything were special, suggest anything, larger portions and fresh wasabi & ginger. As an example, the cucumber were about 2oz for $11 and the duck fried rice about 1 cup $25. Very small quantity and again middle of the road in taste, quality and portion and value. The server pointed out the soy had been enhanced to impart more umami but that was it in terms of anything special. I guess the disappointment is the food was pretty basic, not noteworthy nor fitting of the price point. A bit of a surprise and we spent over $200 to be underwhelmed. Not worth the price, nor befitting the brand. I'll not return to the Las Vegas Morimoto again. read more

I recently visited Morimoto in Vegas during a conference at MGM Grand and unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. For such an expensive restaurant I expected much more. The food tasted and looked similar to any regular sushi spot at half the price. Miso Soup - Very basic. It had about six small pieces of soft tofu and a few thin strips of green onion, there was no seaweed in sight. Maybe I was expecting too much? While I appreciated that it wasn't overly salty, it was underwhelming so I didn't finish it. Soft Shell Crab Roll - Tasty, but nothing extraordinary. The crab was crunchy and the avocado balanced the richness but it didn't stand out. Spicy Tuna Roll - I liked the large chunks of tuna, but some pieces were stringy and hard to chew. The sushi rice on both rolls was bland and forgettable. My rolls also came with just two strips of ginger so I had to ask for more. My experience: I sat at the sushi bar but the setup was high so the sushi chefs didn't interact with customers. Maybe this is how it was supposed to be? They didn't even acknowledge me when I sat down. On the bright side, my server Mari was wonderful and attentive, l which was the highlight of my experience. The asparagus with roasted garlic was unique and cooked perfectly as was the Kim chee fried rice. We've come to Las Vegas often and try at least 1-2 high end restaurants when we're here & this was truly one of the best. We would definitely return. Lacked depth, lacked proper Thai flavor, and lacked pop. The duck fried rice was good as well. The biggest disappointment of the dinner was the ribeye steak. The first steak was dry and according to my culinary expert friend overcooked and over salted. The second steak was to put it in English words a fucking moving cow and the meat was extremely raw. The restaurant corrected it and removed it from the bill. The chirashi sashimi was ok but not for $52. Restaurant was beautiful, server was extremely nice and friendly, but food quality and flavor was not there at all. Really expected more from this restaurant. So disappointed. read more

We came in just when the restaurant opened for dinner on Monday ask the place started filling up quickly. We recommend making a reservation. It's quite large and airy but did not get too loud. We were seated immediately but then did not get served, not even with water, until hubby went to the servers station to get their attention, at which time the service improved. We shared a tiger roll and salmon jalapeño. The food was delicious although very pricey. We had a dessert that almost made up for the dicey beginning. Amazing! If you're craving Asian fusion cuisine designed by an Iron Chef (one of the originals) then Morimoto Vegas is right up your alley. Similar to the one in Florida, there are distinct menu items only found here and it is worth every penny. FOOD: Sticky ribs are a must for an appetizer but you probably should just order one each since you'll love them so much. I ordered the sea bass and it was one of the best ever. Even my wife who doesn't like fish said she would order it again. We tried the buri bop (Morimoto's take on Korean bibimbap) and it was also delicious. Four stars for the service and price point of what we ordered. My bestie and I were here for some sushi and the sushi portion of our order disappointed a bit but they are lucky the tacos saved the day. What we ordered: 1) hamachi tacos: they come with three but luckily Katie asked if we wanted to have four to even out the order. Yes please so we didn't fight over the third! 2) wagyu beef carpaccio: at first the meat tasted dry but I figured out that I needed to drench it in the sauce and bam! It was amazing. Seriously, it was delish just make sure you soak up the yummy sauce. 3) soft shell crab roll: here is where we had a downfall. Crab was dry. I know that deep fried can dry up fish but I was sad that I had to use the soy sauce to make it yummy. 4) drinks. I ordered a specialty cocktail and it was delish.
