Morro Grill is an awesome place for great food. The staff were very friendly and their customer service was outstanding. They said their clam chowder was really good, that was an understatement. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was the best chowder I have ever had. I am glad I have found my spot anytime I get a craving for clam chowder. Get the Beer Battered fries over the regular: it's worth the .50! I always get the mushroom burger and my partner gets the jalapeño burger, add egg and bacon. Walked around Morro Bay and my son wanted to try clam chowder. Based on previous reviews, we wanted to try everything. We ordered the nachos, tri-tip sandwich with tots, loaded clam chowder and a HUGE kids chicken sandwich. Huge freshly made portions. I am NOT a seafood person at all, and i tried the chowder and it was tasty. Loved the nachos with their homemade cheese sauce. Not your typical nacho cheese. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The service was absolutely terrible. We waited 30 minutes for our food and drink order to be taken and then on top of it all someone in our party ordered a drink that never even touched our tables and was sitting in the window for at least 20 minutes being watered down. When we went to ask our server Paloma S to kindly remove it off our tab because we never even drank it she escalated and proceeded to cuss at us. She told us that we needed to "chill the fuck out" and was basically screaming in our faces to calm down when we were in my opinion very calm. I'm EXTREMELY upset with this service an beleive something should be done because no server should ever talk to a customer that way even when something is wrong. I have served at many places and never in my life have ever seen this kind of service let alone received it as a customer. read more

I'd give a 4.5 star rating if I could. Walk upstairs and you'll find a small inside dining area with a large outdoor patio, though they have to allow 50% of the seats for noncustomers. We had the MG Bowl with grilled chicken and they were accommodating to exclude white rice. Nice to have a healthier alternative to fried food! The clam chowder was excellent!! The beer battered mahi with sweet potato fries was also great. Service was friendly and couldn't have been better! Husband and I stepped into this place last minute for lunch, not knowing what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised....nice atmosphere. Comfortable, relaxed vibe with families and couples. There's a bar to hang out at with 3-large TV's to watch sports. They have an outdoor patio too, which has a beautiful view of Morro rock. Service was amazing..friendly, attentive, and most of all considerate and polite. Now the for the food...husband had the burger with bacon and it was very good! The chowder is full of seafood goodies and great just as a meal; add the Michelada and get your veggies with a splash of beer to almost hit that USDA recommendation lol. We decided to come try Morro Grill after getting engaged out by the rock! We sat inside as it was a little windy that day and enjoyed sitting at the bar. The Managing Partner took great care of us, we super sweet and you could tell she truly has a passion to serve quality food and drinks! We started with their Bloody Mary... IT WAS AMAZING! It was Smokey, flavorful, comes with great garnishes, including bacon! Overall the menu looks fantastic! We were struggling to decide what to order because it all sounds great! My fiancé ordered the tacos (2 Mahi Mahi & 1 Shrimp) and then asked the server for a side of salsa to pair with them. She said she had just made the salsa yesterday and when she brought it over, it was an awesome verde salsa that made the tacos even better than they already were! I ordered the Pastrami Sandwich with beer-battered fries... oh my gosh! It was a packed sandwich and the fries were so good! They have some TVs in there as well which will make a great spot to watch football and eat great food! We had a Wonderful waitress named Heather , who made sure we had a fine dining experience.. we started off with the perfectly crisp, non greasy onion rings!! Simply the Best!! 2 dipping sauces' they were Awesome. And plenty for 4 people with some left for tomorrow!! Our dinners were all Wonderful. We each had something different and each loved our meals. Don. Along with his meal, , had the clam chowder and said is was Great .. Heather kept checking on us to make sure things were good. Which is signs of a good waitress. We were there for memorial weekend and it was busy but not off putting crazy busy that you regret coming in lol. it was chilly and we sat outside which we regretted instantly. The waiters did bring us a heater lamp. Both waiters were very nice and on top of it so it was great customer service despite its busyness. All the kids had the wings and burgers and they looked good i wanted one. Good portions. I ordered the appetizer that i thought was a meal considering how big it was! the pulled pork nachos. They were missing something though. Flavor and the nachos were dry.. not enough salsa and cream so i only had a bit and had to throw the rest away unfortunately. i did have the clam chowder cup and it was nice. My husband had the jalapeño burger which he enjoyed and said he would get again. There's so many places to try down here and i would recommend if you never tried it for yourself. read more

We had an amazing time here, food was fabulous and almost everything was homemade & you can tell! Kolton was so friendly, funny, and had great recommendations, I knew I could trust him after having those jalapeño poppers, we were lucky enough to get the last order of the night. We ordered the tri-tip sandwich = we liked it, could have been saucier but that's just us. Bay basket with battered mahi with battered fries = loved this, fresh fish, crunchy and lightly but had a lot of flavor. Homemade tater sauce was a bonus. Sweet potato waffle fries = if you like these, you know how hard it can be to get good ones, these are thin and crunchy but have a lot of flavor. Perfectly fried, not greasy, and homemade ranch is 10/10 Jalapeño poppers = not your usual poppers style, these are chopped peppers, cheese, and bacon rolled into balls and then coated in batter & fried. I've never had poppers like that but they are my new fav. So so flavorful & perfectly spicy and cheesy. These were a table favorite. Fried chicken sandwich = awesome homemade quality, crunchy but thick piece of meat, really loved the buffalo sauce, super tangy and hot! Seafood chowder = super fresh, loaded with dairy and cheese and bacon. Also very thick. So nice to have after being in the cold for a few hours. read more

My favorite dish was the Asian Bowl $19.00 mix topped with carrots, toasted almonds, wonton strips, edamame, green onions, kimchi, cilantro and spicy mayo. Served with ginger soy vinaigrette and we added grilled shrimp. Super delicious! The chowder here is super thick and creamy topped with shrimp. Overall the food was really good. And the rude blonde lady at the bar just handed us the menus rolling her eyes at us and told us sit wherever we want to. And we sat outside. We waited outside for 10 minutes. Nobody came and we just left. Very rude service. Definitely not an inviting vibe. read more

Thrilled with this newer spot in morro. Great view, but more importantly fantastic food. Not as touristy as the other spots on the Embarcadero, and the interior design is top notch(building was recently renovated). Nice place! The staff was very gracious, and there's a happy hour menu. It's kind of got a beachy sports bar vibe, but it's not loud, and it has a nice view.
