Some real professional servers and hosts would be most beneficial to your establishment. Three months have passed by and Morrows has become my go-to restaurant. I have tried everything on the menu and would recommend everything. Most restaurants I have visited in New Orleans specialize in one or two entrees but Morrows had a way of making every dish you try your new favorite. We were really looking forward to this place. Sadly it was the worst experience ever. The service was absolutely horrible. Wait time was 1 1/2 hours which we were willing to do then they called us and we waited another hour as they kept giving away or table to people who "just showed up at the end of their grace period" when we questioned the hostesses they acted as if they were really trying all the while rolling their eyes and mimicking us, after telling the manager she acted as if we were bothering her. Finally after 2 and a half hours they said they had a table only to bring us in and have us post up by the door to wait another 30 mins - we finally just called it quits - couldn't wait any longer no matter what the hype was. The ambiance of the place is perfect, I liked hearing hip hop music and the place looked very aesthetic/clean! They do not take reservations and it gets packed for dinner quick so get there early or expect a wait. Some of my favorite dishes are the Pasta Lenora, Oceans Delight, and the Crawfish Étoufée. Upon arrival the server greeted us and brought out water. I ordered a side car with Martell swift cognac. It took 3 trys and I still did not taste any alcohol. In addition i informed the server i wanted to order some wings but they will be to go and i will order towards the end. The wings came out on a platter as if i wanted them with main dish. I informed the server i asked for the wings to go. Also, we had to ask for utensils after receiving our dish. There was a 3 to 5 minute wait for utensils and out main dish was at the table getting cold. Lastly, we received bill with an automatic 20% tip included and i noticed when i got ready to pay by bill, a second tip was added to my bill. Yet to keep all calmness i went ahead and paid the bill with the initial tip. I considered the tip as my parting gift as i will not be recommending this establishment to any friends, acquaintances or passerby. We stopped by at about 7:30 on a Tuesday night and were able to be sat immediately. Ordered a bowl of gumbo as my appetizer (because yes, I have to have gumbo anywhere I go) and was mostly satisfied. The only downside was that I noticed that another table ordered the gumbo and theirs had crab. I don't know if crab had to be requested to be added or not, but neither mine nor my mothers had any. Gumbo had good flavor - lots of file. The Punch Out drink was very strong alcohol. I had to ask to add some pineapple juice to counter it, but it is a very good choice for a slightly sweet but mostly alcoholic taste! The pasta was pretty good, but the fish was EXCELLENT. Definitely would order fish by itself because of how it tasted tonight. The lamb chops were on special today, and SO good. The pepper jelly was a wonderful addition, but the chop could definitely stand alone. The bread pudding was also good. No raisins, yay!!! Another thing, my party was charged 20% gratuity and we were only a party of 4. On the menu, it stated that for parties of 5 or more, gratuity would be added automatically. My husband and I are newlyweds. We are right down the street from Morrow's. We decided to try out this place. When we arrived there was a hosted that quickly assumed we wanted the bar. We actually wanted a table and when I asked she stated it would be a 45 minute wait. We decided to sit at the bar. The Bartender Richard was amazing. I am pescatarian and we saw the lettuce wraps as an appetizer. He let us know that it was with chicken. He then came back to let us know that he could get those prepared with shrimp. We ordered Lemon drops and a margarita for drinks. Each were delicious and made like a drink should be made. We order the Cajun Crawfish Pasta and the Shrimp Po Boy! Our sides Mac and Cheese, Red Beans and Rice, and Collard greens. The pasta was by far my favorite pasta this whole trip. My husband enjoyed the PoBoy sandwich. The side of Mac and Cheese is a must. The red beans and rice was really hearty. The beans need a little more seasoning. Those collard greens were spicy and made deliciously! I see all of these other 5 star reviews but what had happened was... I made the mistake of coming here on 4th of July during Essence and the wait was 90 minutes. Well... that wait turned into over 2 hours. At least they served water while I waited. And while waiting I discovered if I slid someone at the door $20 I could cut the line, cause that's what 4 locals did ALLEGEDLY. It caused an uproar because several parties saw what happened and fussed out the lady at the front door who was not apologetic. I have a suggestion for this place -- consider a reservation system or no wait application. (-1 star) The entire experience at the front door made this a less enjoyable experience because it set the tone. And it was pointed out to the manager who tried to correct what we saw and stated "perception is everything" I finally get seated and they have the nerve to be out of redfish, red beans and rice, and cornbread. (-0.5 star) Which sucks since I found the menu options to be limited, mostly because I wanted the redfish. And don't substitute your sides cause it's a $2 upcharge. (-0.5 star) It took 45 minutes for the food to come out. (-0.5 star) And since it's Essence, there's an automatic gratuity on ALL parties at 20%, not just groups of 5 or more as stated on the menu. (-0.5 star) By the way, it's first come first serve at the bar. And it took 90 minutes at the door for me to learn this was an option. Visiting Louisiana to drop my baby off to college and we're staying in the Metairie area. Decided to order take out from the New Orleans area after reading the reviews and the fact that it's a black owned establishment was definitely a plus for us. We placed three separate orders and picked up the food at the time it would be easy (45 minutes). The restaurant was about 15 minutes from our place and when we arrived, immediately noticed that the place was packed and there were people waiting outside for a table. I have a habit of checking my to-go orders and part of my order was missing. A manager was called and she confirmed the food was missing from the package but the chef was insistent that he made the order. I waited as they got the missing items from the kitchen. Unfortunately, I didn't check the third order and when we arrived home, the third order was completely wrong. They packaged someone's Uber eats order in the bag (Uber eats receipts in bag) and placed my daughters name on the bag and we were not going back to return the food. The order that was correct was good but someone is out of their order and so was my daughter because she is very picky and did not eat what was contained in the incorrect order. Also, there was no apology for the inconvenience. Moral of the story, check your orders before you leave. I'm pretty sure the kitchen was dishing out the correct orders but the person/people responsible for bagging the to-go orders needs to be more vigilant - more quality control in the process. read more
