Morrow's has a lot of potential, especially considering how much love and support they receive online, which is what made me curious to finally try them for myself. My girlfriend and I arrived about 45 minutes before closing and decided to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table. The hostesses were a little slow with communication when we first walked in, and even after sitting at the bar, it took about 15 minutes before we were acknowledged and able to order drinks. Since we came in closer to closing, I can definitely understand that may have played a part in the overall experience. We kept our order pretty simple: a half dozen charbroiled oysters and the fried chicken with two sides, greens and mac and cheese. The oysters came out after about 20 minutes. They were good, but nothing really stood out enough to separate them from other charbroiled oysters we've had around the city. Our fried chicken plate came about another 15 minutes later, and unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The chicken wasn't served hot, it was more of a lukewarm temperature and the flavor was pretty much nonexistent. It tasted like fried chicken without much seasoning, and there was also a slightly burnt/old-oil taste that took away from it even more. The sides were actually pretty good. I enjoyed the greens, although I would've preferred not having so many thick stems mixed in. The mac and cheese was decent as well. Overall, I wouldn't completely count Morrow's out. I genuinely feel like we may have caught them at the tail end of the night when the kitchen and staff were wrapping things up. If I gave them another try, I would definitely go much earlier in the day because I'd like to experience the food and service when everything is fresh and operating at its best. Based on this visit, though, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype for me.
Came for a late lunch and made a reservation. If you can, definitely recommend doing this because they can get packed. Waited a little minute for a hostess even though it wasn't that busy. Everyone is wearing the same "attire" so couldn't tell who was supposed to be the hostess versus a waiter. It's not a big place but the ambiance is very relaxed and we enjoyed the music playing. But it was a little loud for my taste. Now that we have that out the way...let's talk about the food and drinks. Fried shrimp platter 9/10: nice large seasoned juicy shrimp. Impressed by the size of the shrimp. Collard greens 9/10: good flavor but too many stems. Chicken Parmesan 9/10: nice portion size and great flavor. The crawfish was a nice compliment to this dish. I do wish they used less arugula though...felt like a salad on top of my meal. Cabbage 7/10: had to send this back because it wasn't hot. It is a nice portion size though. I wish it had a little more flavor - I was hoping it tasted like the cabbage from spicy mango since they're owned by the same company but it did not taste the same. Morrow of the story (drink) 8/10: this drink is huge and definitely shareable. Good flavor and you can't taste the liquor which can be a good or bad thing. Bywater peach 7/10: the flavor was okay and it wasn't too strong which was nice.
Dont let the exterior surroundings and neighborhood deter you from dining here. I booked a reservation for two on Open Table about a month prior to my visit. Read tons of reviews here on Yelp and some other social media information on this place and see it's a very popular spot. Street parking only which is a little scarce. Arrived at my reservation time of 1pm, and was seated promptly. Our server Semaj came over promptly made several recommendations to us. She was upbeat and friendly. We ordered drinks, then the entrees. Seafood platter and Crawfish Pasta add grilled shrimp. Entrees are about $25 and up. Food came out within about 20 minutes. Everything was good. The pasta was a bit spicy which I liked. Only negative's was the ketchup was not brought out timely for the fried seafood platter until it was almost gone and my drink wasn't refilled until we finished our meal. So a bit more attentiveness on our servers part and she would have received a larger tip. But her service otherwise was great! The food is good. Give them a try!
Solid restaurant, cute decor, and great vibe. It was busy upon arrival but the wait time was only 6-7 minutes. I ordered a mish-mash of things. Lol! First, chargrilled oysters were delicious! They were piping hot and seasoned to perfection. I had seafood gumbo which was a solid 8. Being from Southern California, there is a bit of a difference. Our seafood gumbo has snow or king crab legs and is filled with more protein. Most N.O. restaurants only add shrimp + chicken + sausage. Though this one only had one small crab claw and little protein, I was excited to find an authentic roux. Greens were flavorful with a little kick. My Malibu rum and pineapple juice had a dehydrated pineapple on top and was refreshing. My friend ordered the fried chicken and enjoyed it. She was not a fan of the braised cabbage. She enjoyed the yams and cornbread which I don't eat. She also ordered some type of speciality drink, hurricane maybe?? Her eyes were blown away when the bill showed it was $30. Beware!! Overall, this was a good experience. I wish I got our server's name because she was very pleasant, patient, and helpful describing menu items (dark brown skin, glasses, and a light brown tint to a short cut hairdo...I think). Kudos to her and the manager who walked around checking on customers. Great service!
I went to the French quarter fest and I got their catfish and crawfish pasta. The service was kind and fast. This pasta had a rich flavor to it and the spice was great. It was creamy and the noodles were cooked perfect. The catfish was cooked well and was flavorful/ seasoned as well. This captures the flavor of New Orleans with a creole and Cajun flavor. Would definitely be getting this at their restaurant.
...... I'm super disappointed in my experience. I've been wanting to come to Morrow's for a while! I just knew the oysters was going to be bussing!! They were! But the customer service leaves a lot to the imagination. It's a rumor that when gratuity is included, customer service will be non existent. It's true. Customer service at the bar was complete trash. Bartender did NOT check on us, once our food was received. We never received a portion of the food. When the bartender came over and asked if we was doing ok, I replied no. Asked if she remembered to put the missing food in, she said she did. At this point we had the oysters for about 20 mins. I was irritated and tired of being overlooked. I'm a fan of the Morrow family of restaurants, this one won't see me again.
The gumbo ramen and baked macaroni were 10/10. The service was a bit slower than I would've preferred given we had a reservation and did not get seated for 20 minutes. The vibes were amazing especially with the music.
This was the best food experience I have had in a long time . The food was carefully prepared with so much love and attention! The service was friendly, caring and consistent! The ambiance was clean, dark, and the music never missed a beat!
Morrrow's is a vibe. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a girls night. The music was on point the entire time we were there. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered the Ramen Gumbo. The portion was perfect. I ate the entire bowl and ended up satisfied and not stuffed. It was spicy and delicious. My mom had the seafood platter and commented that the shrimp were seasoned and not overly breaded. I tried a sazerac. My first one. It was Smokey and smooth.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Morrow's. The food was exceptional from appetizers to dessert. Our server Joe was top notch. The restaurant was a vibe, even the restrooms were stylish.
Slick website that overpromised and under delivered on experience and food!!! We had a reservation time but decided to come a bit early to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks until then. We were informed that the bar area were for patrons that were going to eat at the bar and if we decided to take the bar then our table reservation would be canceled. It was late, we were hungry so we decided to sit at the bar. We asked our server (Caprese) about the specials and unfortunately everything we asked about the restaurant was currently out so we ordered a bowl of file' gumbo and Morrow's Fried chicken. The owner informed the server they did not get their regular delivery of shrimp they normally use, but a substitute shrimp could be used instead. I passed...Now if you talk about the best gumbo, the answers could be very subjective depending on the region. The current gumbo serving had a dark roux with chicken and (I think I counted) four pieces of andouille sausage. I thought the dish came with rice, but that is a separate order which our server could have informed me at the beginning. The Morrow's Fried Chicken dish was presented with a piping hot crust and dry meat. By this time we are just trying to get the servers attention to just order another round of drinks and get a to-go container for the chicken but her and the owner are just have a cordial conversation with some interesting interactions. Finally, she returns and we decided to just close out and forgo the drinks and remaining food. If you have been to NOLA you know the humidity is disrespectful so you would think restaurants would plan their flooring accordingly. Even if you have shoes that offer good grip, be careful while walking especial in the men's WC. The floor was slippery and urine residue was all around the urinal. You would think a urinal cake or mat would be used. Overall, I was disappointed not only with food, but the overall experience especially when I saw the bill and they automatically added a 20% gratuity for sub par service! I can understand if you have a party of 6 or more; nevertheless, this ongoing trend of automatic gratuity does not incentivize some servers and penalize the servers that do go above and beyond.
The oysters were amazing. I was not happy about my tab being almost $400 and auto tip for a family of 4. I came here for my bday, a dessert on the house would have been nice but nope nothing. The drinks were ridiculously overpriced.

A friend suggest we hit up this spot while in NOLA during Mardi Gras. The friend is a food lover and this suggestion didn't disappoint. Drinks were on point the Henny Rita was a bit too sweet for my taste but that's a personal preference. But it was still a good cocktail. All the food was amazing, seasoned to the T! Felt like I was eating someone mama's down home cooking with a bit of refinery. Morrow's is apart of a restaurant group here in NOLA we will definitely be coming back to keep supporting this black owned business and try its over ventures. The ambiance was nice good decor, great music! The hosts were very nice and quick to get to us a table. But the big shout out goes out to our server Kenny! He gave great suggestions, was very attentive and gave A-1 service. Being a chef myself and a hospitality industry worker for over 15 years I give this place a 10/10! Good job Morrow's! read more

I ordered delivery while I was having my hair braided. Everything was in separate containers so I ate one item at a time with the intention of finishing when I got back to my hotel. So I ate the cabbage which was good, macaroni (although that wasn't the pasta used) and cheese and some of the yams which were also pretty good, while I was there. I intended on having my chicken, rest of my yams, corn bread and my dessert when I could truly enjoy it. However, as I started taking items out of the bag, there was no dessert. I ordered the bread pudding. I was charged for it and it was on the paper receipt stapled to the bag. I went back on the page like I was ordering and all of a sudden it was no longer a choice. So I'm guessing they ran out but I don't understand why they didn't reflect that on the final receipt and refund my money or reach out to see if I wanted something different. Very disappointing for my last meal on my last day in NOLA. read more

Here for beginning of Mardi Gras & Super Bowl weekend. Tried to make a reservation and it said they were full to capacity for Friday afternoon. Decided to walk in and there were SO many seats untaken. Seated immediately. Food was good and the service was great. The waitress even helped us with the parade routes and times. Sooo... Morrow's. I'm gonna start with the pros. The food is amazing. It was so good, we went 2 nights in a row in our visit to NOLA. Nothing we had was just average or ok. Cute and nicely decorated. We also had great service from the waitstaff while there. Tonight, Sharday (sp?) served us and she was just something special. Very friendly, funny and made sure we were comfortable. Now the cons... the hostess is not friendly at all. She would have gotten a pass for last night if she was actually friendly today. The drinks are also overpriced. I don't think anyone should have a $20+ cocktail on the menu. They should also come up with a way to make guests comfortable who have to wait for extended periods for a table - perhaps invest in a heating lamp outside or another area inside. Our wait the night prior was 1.5 hours. Understood that we didn't have a reservation. We lucked out with finding Artisan next door. Btw, cocktails re reasonably priced for the same base liquor. (You are welcome). This place is probably a strong 3 but I really think the food and wait staff pushed them slightly over. They did a great job with picking the right people in that area. read more

Let's start with getting in this restaurant... It is almost impossible! They stay packed. I went on a Saturday and the people waiting was ridiculous. It was a 2 hr wait so we left. I tried making reservations a week before but Open Table reported no availability! So we decided to try again on Monday morning before heading out of town. Luckily, they were able to seat us outside. Unfortunately, it took about 15 minutes just to get water and another 10 minutes before a nice young lady came out to take or order. She let us know she wasn't our server but would take our order. Then she mentioned that a table became available because the patrons decided to sit at the bar! Yaaassss!!! We were super excited! Got inside and the service was not particularly good. The server was a bit dismissive and complained a lot which was kind of off putting! BUT BAAABAAAYYYYY!!!! The food was spectacular! Everything came to the table piping hot and so flavorful!! I ordered the Red Beans and Rice and it was the best I've ever tasted!! The catfish was fried and seasoned to perfection! The greens were perfectly seasoned although there were a lot of stems. Also, the Mac and Cheese, Yams, and fried chicken were superb as witnessed by the "Hmmms" and "Damns" coming from my friends! Lol! The Rum Punch was sweet, refreshing, and on point! All in all, the wait is probably going to be crazy long and the service needs a little work. It is very slow. However, the food is spectacular! read more
So I've been hearing about Morrows for a while. Finally found some time to go around 4 pm today and it was grooving but not too busy, SCORE! We started off with gumbo and lettuce wraps! The gumbo was delicious, just look how dark it is! The flavor was there and had a nice little kick. Also filled with seafood and sausage, a fave. The lettuce wraps was meh. They were alright but definetely not worth the $16 bucks. Small container for the chicken and 5 little wraps. For our entrees I got red beans and rice with catfish and my friend got a Cobb salad with potato salad and Mac and cheese. So my red beans and rice. As excited for this dish as I was, it just didn't hit. It was salty but had no flavor. Yall know the complexities of flavor you get red beans, this just didn't have that. Tasted like the salts were added when it was finished cooking instead of during, hence the weird saltiness with no flavor. The catfish was a miss as well. I knew it looked like fried chicken, and the batter basically was. No reason at all, and there was barely any catfish inside of it! Not worth it at all. Had to drown in hot sauce to taste anything. My friends Cobb salad was basic, but they forgot the bacon and blue cheese? When we asked about it we were told they were out of blue cheese but could fry the bacon? So we had to wait another 10 minutes for bacon, and I still didn't understand why they didn't communicate them not having ingridients when we ordered. Yikes. Basically only thing that saved them was the service and the gumbo. Not sure I'm willing to pay those prices for alright food again. read more
Highly disappointed! Made reservations based on some recs and all the hype on social media...and it was just eh. Kinda sad that cabbage was best part of our dinner. Morrows oysters needed more butter/garlic, red beans and rice was room temp if even that, catfish ok but not the best around, and the chicken everyone talked about-why??? Our service was good and manager came by to check before our meal came so nothing to really talk to him about. Got sat upstairs which had basic decor and nothing on tables. Omg I don't even know where to start. This is my second time visiting morrow's the first time was via DoorDash and this most recent time was in person. It looks bigger online, it's a very small restaurant but packs a HUGE PUNCH with the food, omg. I can love there the food is so good. Like my mouth is watering just writing this. The staff is nice as well. I'll be back next essence fest season!! read more
First timer here! This is not a huge space so I strongly suggest making reservations because they seem to fill up fast! The host Britney and the other young lady (didn't get her name) were very sweet and welcoming! Me and friend set at the bar.. the bartender was very sweet and was helpful with making food and drink suggestions. We hard the Morrow oysters (the one with crab meat) as well as the crawfish bread to start and baby it was soo dang good!! I got the ramen gumbo (I do appreciate that I can remove the chicken & pork, I'm a pescatarian) it was just as good I asked for a bit of spice and it was perfect!! QUICKIE REVIEW Good spot for group meetups. FOOD This is what I tried: -Side order of catfish -Cup of Gumbo -Chargrilled oysters -Punchout There Punchout was good and stiff and it was just a single (waiter had asked if I wanted it to be a double). Of everything we ate, gumbo stood out the most. Definitely could easily have a full bowl of that with some crackers and good. PARKING SERVICE Good, waiter was very attentive to us. PRICE Expect around $90-ish for two including adult beverages. TIP/OTHER THOUGHTS Came here and saw a lot of big groups. This place was easily sitting groups of 10 inside and outside. I wish I could leave NEGATIVE stars. This was the worst dining experience of my life. We arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait outside in the cold until our table was ready. We then had to wait 30 minutes for WATER. When we went to order our food, they informed us they were out of all vegetables and oysters - at this point I wanted to leave but my friend wanted to stay. The food ended up being under seasoned and underwhelming - they make Popeyes look like fine dining. I really don't understand how this restaurant has high ratings. read more

Morrow's was a bit hard to get to from the French Quarter. We had to walk to the #8 bus at Rampart & Conti to ride it to Morrow's. The restaurant is rightvnear the bus stop so no need to walk far when you get off the bus. It has a cool, hip hop vibe, and was very crowded. We sat at the bar upstairs and our bartender was our server. She was nice! My favorite dish was the crawfish toast!!!!!! I have never had it anywhere else and it was super yummy! It came with its own dipping sauce that was out of this world! This dish alone earns this restaurant 4 stars! The fried chicken was good but not out of this world. I ordered beef bulgogi too but that was a mistake. I didn't like it at all. The sides were cabbage (good), beans & rice (good), and salad (accompanying the bulgogi - just ok). Overall the crawfish toast brings home the gold for the team! read more

Pretty good! Chicken was moist, yams were great. The greens come out of a can, I don't like that. Restaurant is small, service was decent. The $7 is well worth it for the portion of sides you get. I wish we weren't so tight packed. read more

We went to Morrows on a show night at The Smoothie King Center. We didn't realize our reservation was made at Happy Hours but it was and the menu was great. We had Mocktails, Sushi roll (so good with salmon), Tomato Bruschetta (divine), Mushroom Pasta (delicious), and Pecan Crème Brûlée (the best we have ever eaten). Our server was great and so was his assistant. We loved it! The ambiance was so nice. We had a great time!!! read more

The service is amazing! The shrimp po boy needs a new bread. The baked Mac was the best part of the meal. The fries were good but cold. The wait is always much longer than they estimate. They need a way to make reservations online. They also need heat lamps outside because it was pretty cold. The inside is cozy and nice. The bar is big. After hearing some recommending Morrow's for their fried chicken, we made reservations for our large group. We attempted to just do a single reservation for our group of like 17 people but it was easier to just break it apart into smaller ones. Unfortunately, they won't seat you until your whole party is present so plan accordingly! Once seated, it took awhile for someone to take our order. The service is kind of slow and no one really checks in on your throughout the meal. Other than that, the servers were friendly and the food was good. Sweet Sesame Ginger Glazed Wings: Comes with 5 pieces. The table next to us had ordered these and it smelled so good...we just had to get it for ourselves. The chicken wings were super crispy and the stick glaze was amazing. Highly recommend! It's just a little annoying that it comes in an odd number. Oysters Morrow: Ordered the dozen for our table of four. The sizes of these oysters varied a lot, with some almost twice the size as others. Each piece is charbroiled with their herby, buttery sauce and there's crabmeat too. Save the extra bucks and just go with their regular charbroiled oysters. The sauce was amazing but I honestly couldn't tell the difference with the extra crab meat. Ribeye: Comes with two sides. We originally asked for medium rare but they undercooked it. We had to send it back to cook a bit longer. Other than that, the meat is really tender and seasoned well. Morrow's Fried Chicken (Dark): Also comes with two sides. I really liked that you could choose between dark and white meat. Of course we chose dark meat for more flavorful and juicy cuts. It came with two drumsticks and one thigh. Super crispy, super juicy. Exactly what we were looking for! A lot of the main entrees also came with sides so we definitely over ordered for 4 people. But we wanted to try as much as we could and we left pretty satisfied. Unfortunately, we wanted to try the Gumbo Ramen but it's only offered on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Sundays. read more
I heard a lot about Morrows before coming to New Orleans, so I made it a mission to go. Make sure to book your reservation in advance. I had a reservation which I was late for and missed the grace period. Luckily I was by myself and was able to get a seat quickly at the bar. My server was Tiara, she took great care of me. I didn't see a drink on the menu that I liked so I opted for a blueberry French 75. It was delicious and refreshing. When it came time for my entire I ordered the crawfish pasta but I switched out the fried catfish on top to grilled shrimp, recommended by my server. I'm glad I went with that option as I had fried catfish the day before. My entree took a little longer to come out due to the kitchen waiting on the shrimp. Tiara gave me another blueberry French 75 on the house for long wait time. When the pasta finally came it was hot and everything tasted fresh. It was very rich and filling. I can't wait to explore the menu some more, next time I'm in town. read more

We were running a little late due to traffic but made sure to let them know we were on our way so when we arrived I dropped off my brother and his girlfriend while I found parking. They only have street parking so it took a minute. When I was walking up I found out they had not been seated because the whole party had not arrived. I get not seating people but typically it is if 75% of your party has arrived then they will seat you so I'm not a fan of this. Our waiter was friendly but not as upfront about his favorite items on the menu he went to the most popular. I always ask what the people there enjoy because that tends to be better than the popular items. Food: Since this was brunch my mind was set on breakfast food but that is not what I settled on. I ordered the Gumbo Ramen which was amazing. I never would have thought to put the two together but it was amazing. Our waiter said it was really spicy I found it to have a nice kick not spicy. My brother and his girlfriend got the red fish and grits and chicken and waffles which they both said were really good. I can say the chicken was fried to perfection. We also shared the crawfish bread that was yummy even though I wanted more crawfish. To end the drinks were delicious highly recommend the Düsseldorf French 75 if you want something light with a kick. read more

I loved everything about this restaurant. If you're wanting some good rib sticking' food, this is the place. You have to make reservations and you have a two hour table minimum. I ordered the red fish & grits. The grits were the perfect consistency, the fish was seasoned well & I couldn't stop eating. I also ordered the chargrilled oysters & three pineapple mimosas (but who's counting?!). Very nice ambiance with all the music that I listen to. Lots of R&B. The place was packed but still very comfortable. They offer indoor & outdoor seating. Paige was our server & she was SO SWEET!! read more
Busy restaurant! Not able to make a reservation but was able to get squeezed into a booth for 5 people which was honestly super nice of the hostess for helping us get in. Apps were the oyster morrows and crawfish bread. Wasn't a huge fan of the crawfish bread. The oysters were good but def needed some hot sauce. I ordered the redfish yeah and it was really fricken good. Worth the $40 bc it's a pretty large portion. Definitely sharable. Very flavorful and had a little kick. read more

I'm not sure if it was the long wait or the over priced and under delivered food but I disappointed in my overall experience. The best thing this establishment has going for it was our server and sadly I can't recall her name but she handled too large groups coming in back-to-back with grace and a positive attitude. This is clearly a destination for casual celebrations. They make birthdays extra special with sparklers and the birthday song. So when I receive overcooked oysters and fried chicken with seasoning that's only skin deep... I felt deflated. If you don't mind spice I was told the cajun crawfish pasta was enjoyable. read more
Service was great from the first walk in up until walking out EVERYONE was kind and very helpful. The food we loved. Mac and cheese, crawfish bread, red beans. The mac & cheese was very cheesy and for the flavor. The crawfish bread tasted like delicious garlic bread on fresh French toast, but with crawfish as well it was hands-down the best. The red beans were also flavorful cooked perfectly, and had delicious smoked meat in them. The catfish was cooked well, seasoned well, very light and flaky. The fried chicken was pretty good. It was a little dark, which makes me think that it was cook a little long or the grease wasn't as fresh but it was pretty good. The gumbo was more like a soup. It was very watery. Flavor wise I think that it could've been better in the room could have been much more thicker, so that is an authentic gumbo. There was also no crab in the gumbo, which traditionally there is. I could've done without it. The greens as well. They just didn't have much flavor and I didn't like the texture they could've been cooked a little bit longer. Over all the food was good at the service was great. The ambience was also very relaxed and enjoyable. I'd love to return for brunch. read more

Does Morrow use Louisiana seafood, including Louisiana crawfish in their dishes?
The catfish, crawfish, and shrimp says Louisiana/Gulf on the menu. Only thing I would ask if you are in person about is the Salmon. Hope this helps!
