    Tonkatsu Ramen
    Stephanie S.

I've been wanting to eat here since I saw their spectacular Instagram Photos and Food Network Challenge that Stefano did. I also love the fact they are farm-to-table. Yesterday was the perfect opportunity to go, as I often times am in Barre when they are closed. I had the soup of the day, a Tonkatsu Pork Ramen described as a "rich pork broth, porchetta, wild mushrooms, fresh ramen." He'd asked me if I wanted a soy egg, which I should have asked what that was; I assume it was a fake egg versus an egg infused with soy sauce (next time, I will inquire), so I politely declined. It was a copious bowl of rich flavor: the porchetta was outstanding. The broth itself lacked a little flavor, initially, as I think I needed to mix the seasonings more. Once I did, YUM! My friend got the The Granite City, which is house maple-bourbon turkey, cheddar, cranberry mayo, LTO on cranberry pecan whole wheat. He asked if he could have it toasted (it was so chilly outside and we'd skied all morning) and Stefano said they don't normally do so, but sure, why not. My friend said it was delicious. Stefano later told us that he hadn't thought about toasting it before, as no one had ever asked, but he bet it was good. He was also really nice; he sells the Maple Sap Soda that I cannot find elsewhere and he was willing to sell us a six-pack. I considered it and then kind of forgot. I was tired from the cold and skiing. The food is great and the cafe is toasty and warm. I highly recommend.

Random pick-nice lil deli with brews-sis loved her Seasonal Schwarma (plant-based sandwich) - and I enjoyed my (turkey) Granite City sandwich. Friendly chef delivered to our table instead of calling our names. Come on in!

Decidedly great food. Went late on a Monday lunch time slot and was lucky enough to get the last special. Brisket 3 ways So unbelievably good. Great presentation. Wicked juicy and I really loved it. Tons of selection for drinks and chips. See pics. Lived the crunchy feel of the place. Fun and easy try this place. You can't go wrong.

They have great food and they sell a variety of local products!

This place has great food for breakfast and lunch. I usually end up spending more than I planned - but coming home with a new hot sauce or spice. They sell so many local products to hard not to! They have everything from CBD chocolate to their own maple syrup brand. They have so many unique beverages and (no exaggeration) the best breakfast sandwich in town. Highly recommend! Get the Ruben

I stopped here a couple times on my way back home to Maine or to Mass for a late lunch and I'm never disappointed. I've tried a couple different sandwiches and wraps, as well as a custom wrap. There's always a ton of meat and fresh veggies loaded on, which is why I go a little out my way instead of stopping for crappy highway food. I've found that compared to prices in Burlington is actually less expensive and everyone is always super nice and accommodating. We also jumped at the chance to go to the special 5 course Valentine's Day dinner and meet new tell you, it was superb. Those guys know what they're doing. I can't even begin to describe how delicious everything was, and all in season and fresh. I was tempted to lick the plates clean after each course.

I made short work of this one!

This is a great little local food and drink deli. The Spring Schwarma was delicious and even had pickled fiddleheads! Nice place!

The oil was infused with lots of crushed garlic, which left the oil itself so fragrant and tasting of garlic. Perfection. I ordered a Greek Salad with some grilled chicken added. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and their Margherita pizza. The Greek salad was magnificent... beautiful presentation, huge salad and lots of wonderful ingredients (mixed greens, marinated artichoke hearts, chickpeas, red onion, Greek olives, feta cheese and roasted red peppers), all of which I love. I always get it with Caesar dressing, just my preference, and I'm always glad I do. Their Caesar dressing was particularly delicious to add to the enjoyment of the salad. What was even a greater surprise was how much I LOVED my husband's pizza. He always offers me a slice, and I usually take one bite and say thank you. This pizza was so freaking good, I ate the entire slice. It was amazing. I think it was the pizza sauce because that pizza style usually is boring to me. This was AMAZING. Another restaurant I'm sad I don't live near. It'd be a really long car ride to get here from where I live, but if YOU are in the area, make sure you give them a try. So worth your time and money.

We enjoyed the mussels gauzzetto and calamari fritti. The Mediterranean chicken was well prepared and tasty. The pasta special was spinach feta almond slices in a light tomato sauce and I substituted penne for fettucine - I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The margherita pizza was good. We suspect you need reservations for prime dining hours on a weekend. The decor feels a little dated but the food is great. We can forgive the $2 for a quarter loaf of bread because it's only a few dollars and the bread was fresh and served with garlic oil, not like overpriced $10-$12 Parker House Rolls, but it's not a good trend to charge for bread. Service was good until we wanted to pay our bill - that took a little bit. We'll happily return.

We had a scallop po-boy and crab cake sammy for lunch, well after lunch rush. Servers were consistently friendly and helpful. Food came out promptly but both lacked taste. Crab cake was 80% breading, mushy. Scallops were hit and darkly crusted , but not tasty. Watermelon salad was good. Despite ordering bevs with food, none arrived till food was 2/3 eaten. Server's initial response was "waiting on the bar", tho they were apologetic after it took another long time. We could see the bartender chatting with customers and wiping things down, so suspect there was a teamwork issue. Seems like this business needs owner's TLC!

I also tried some waffle fries. The highlight of the dinner was the fried food. All of it was exceptionally crispy and flavorful: the tots and waffle fries had a hard crusty exterior with fluffy interior. The locals mushroom were a deep fried bunch of oyster mushrooms with a mayo pepper-based sauce drizzled on top. Very juicy and meaty bite! The burger was ok, not my favorite. I asked for it medium and it was closer to well done. The patty was on the drier side and had a charcoal aftertaste that was a bit on the overwhelming side. The bun was also not the freshest. Overall, skip the burger and opt for the fried stuff. Service: Nice and accommodating. Pretty standard. Ambiance: Old school vibes mixed with some modern aspects. Loved the live music playing during dinner.
